The p-nitrophenylazo calix[4] arene derivatives la-ld with nonlinear optical(NLO)properties were prepared by the diazo-coupling reaction of calix[4]arene with p-nitrophenyl diazonium.The diazotization reaction of p-nltroaniline was caried out with isoamyl nitrite as a source of nitrous acid in EtONa/EtOH under refluxing conditon.X-Ray crystallographic analysis and ^1H NMR sptectra reveal that they exist as cone conformation in crystal state or in soution.HRS measurements at 1064 nm in THF indicate that p-nitrophenylazo calix[4]arenes have higher hyperpolarizability βz values than the corresponding reference compound 4-(4-nitrophenylazo)-2,6-dimethyl-phenol,without red shift of the charge transfer band.The tetrakis p-nitropheylazo calix[4]arene(2)with longer alkyl chains can form monolayer aht the air/water interface.  相似文献

New photoreactive calixarene derivatives containing spiro ortho ester groups (calixarenes 3a–3c ) were synthesized by the reaction of 2‐bromomethyl‐1,4,6‐trioxaspiro[4.4]nonane with 2,8,14,20‐tetramethyl‐4,6,10,12,16,18,22,24‐octakis(carboxymethoxy)calix[4]resorcinarene, 5,11,17,23,29,35‐hexamethyl‐37,38,39,40,41,42‐hexakis(carboxymethoxy)calix[6]arene, and 5,11,17,23,29,35,41,47‐octa‐tert‐butyl‐49,50,51,52, 53,54,55,56‐octakis‐(carboxymethoxy)calix[8]arene, which were prepared by the reaction of C‐methylcalix[4]resorcinarene, p‐methylcalix[6]arene, and ptert‐butylcalix[8]arene, respectively. The thermal stability of the obtained calixarene derivatives containing spiro ortho ester groups was examined with thermogravimetric analysis, and it was found that these calixarene derivatives had good thermal stability. The photoinitiated cationic polymerization of spiro ortho ester groups in calixarene derivatives 3a–3c was examined with certain photoacid generators in the film state. Interestingly enough, the reaction of calixarene derivatives did not proceed with only photoirradiation; however, the reaction proceeded smoothly when the photoirradiation was followed by heating. Furthermore, calixarene 3a , composed of a C‐methylcalix[4]resorcinarene structure, showed the highest photochemical reactivity in this reaction system. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis of two 1,3‐bis(4‐ethynylbenzyloxy)calix[4]arenes, 5,11,17,23‐tetrakis(1,1‐dimethylethyl)‐25,27‐bis(4‐ethynylbenzyloxy)‐26,28‐dihydroxycalix[4]arene ( 1 ) and 25,27‐bis(4‐ethynylbenzyloxy)‐26,28‐dihydroxycalix[4]arene ( 2 ), was accomplished through Sonogashira coupling of appropriate calixarene derivatives. Methods for the polymerization of these bifunctional building blocks with Rh(I) as a catalyst, leading ultimately to conjugated polymers having calix[4]arene units incorporated into the main chain, were explored. Calixarenes 1 and 2 were efficiently polymerized with rhodium‐based initiators and afforded the conjugated polymers poly{5,11,17,23‐tetrakis(1,1‐dimethylethyl)‐25,27‐bis(4‐ethynylbenzyloxy)‐26,28‐dihydroxycalix[4]arene} ( poly 1 ) and poly{25,27‐bis(4‐ethynylbenzyloxy)‐26,28‐dihydroxycalix[4]arene}. Depending on the conditions, high conversions and good yields were obtained. The effects of adding cocatalysts (NHEt2 and/or PPh3) were studied in connection with the number‐average molecular weight and the molecular weight distribution of the resultant polymer ( poly 1 ) and tentatively correlated with the formation of low‐molecular‐weight materials. A catalytic system containing triphenylphosphine as the sole additive ([Rh(nbd)Cl]2; [Rh]/[PPh3] = 0.5) proved to be the best for the polymerization of ptert‐butylcalixarene compound 1 . Linear polymers having high number‐average molecular weights (up to 1.1 × 105 g mol?1) with low polydispersities were produced under these conditions. For debutylated homologue 2 , its polymerization was best carried out in the absence of any added cocatalyst. A cyclopolymerization route, comprising the intramolecular ring closing of the calix[4]arene pendant ethynyl groups followed by an intermolecular propagation step, is advanced to explain the results. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. By the reaction of para‐formylcalix[4]arenes 1–6 with trialkyl phosphites in the presence of dry hydrogen chloride, calix[4]arenes 7–13 possessing dialkylphosphoryl‐hydroxymethyl groupings at the upper rim were synthesized. Calix[4]arenes 18–23 functionalized with dialkylphosphoryl‐alkyl(aryl)aminomethyl groups were obtained by sodium‐promoted addition of dialkyl phosphites to C=N bonds of para‐iminocalix[4]arenes 14–17 . The consecutive treatment of α‐hydroxy‐ or α‐aminophosphonic acid dialkyl esters of calix[4]arenes 7, 10, 18 , and 21 with bromotrimethylsilane and methanol gave dihydroxyphosphoryl derivatives of calix[4]arenes 24–27 . It was shown that calix[4]arenes bearing at the macrocyclic upper rim hydroxymethylphosphonic fragments, as well as bis‐hydroxymethyl(aminomethyl)phosphonic fragments, are able to undergo self‐assembly with formation of dimeric OH···O=P hydrogen bonded associates. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Ibis paper reports the properties of the novel tetra‐p‐nitro‐tetra‐O‐alkyl‐calix[4]arenes (alkyl= n‐C4H9, 1; n‐C8H17 2; n‐C12H25, 3; n‐C16H33, 4). X‐ray crystallographic analysis and 1H NMR revealed that they exist as pinched‐cone conformation in crystal or cone conformation in solution. EFISH experiments at 1064 nm in CHCl3, indicated that tetra‐p‐nitro‐tetra‐O‐butyl‐calix[4]arene (1) has higher hyperpolarizability β, values than the corresponding reference compound p‐nitro‐phenyl butyl ether, without red shift of the charge transfer band. Compounds 2, 3 and 4 with longer alkyl chains can form monolayer at the air/water.  相似文献

Five conical calix[4]arenes that have a PPh2 group as the sole functional group anchored at their upper rim were assessed in palladium‐catalysed cross‐coupling reactions of phenylboronic acid with aryl halides (dioxane, 100 °C, NaH). With arylbromides, remarkably high activities were obtained with the catalytic systems remaining stable for several days. The performance of the ligands is comparable to a Buchwald‐type triarylphosphane, namely, (2′‐methyl[1,1′‐biphenyl]‐2‐yl)diphenylphosphane, which in contrast to the calixarenyl phosphanes tested may display chelating behaviour in solution. With the fastest ligand, 5‐diphenylphosphanyl‐25,26,27,28‐tetra(p‐methoxy)benzyloxy‐calix[4]arene ( 8 ), the reaction turnover frequency for the arylation of 4‐bromotoluene was 321 000 versus 214 000 mol(ArBr).mol(Pd)?1. h?1 for the reference ligand. The calixarene ligands were also efficient in Suzuki cross‐coupling reactions with aryl chlorides. Thus, by using 1 mol % of [Pd(OAc)2] associated with one of the phosphanes, full conversion of the deactivated arenes 4‐chloroanisole and 4‐chlorotoluene was observed after 16 h. The high performance of the calixarenyl–phosphanes in Suzuki–Miyaura coupling of aryl bromides possibly relies on their ability to stabilise a monoligand [Pd0L(ArBr)] species through supramolecular binding of the Pd‐bound arene inside the calixarene cavity.  相似文献

Two cystine-bearing 1,3-bridged calix[4]arenes were used as the coatings of the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) with gold electrodes. The two calix[4]arene derivatives were self-assembled onto the gold electrode surface by the covalent attachment between the di-sulfur and gold. The compound of cystine-bearing bi-phenylalanine 1,3-bridged calix[4]arene (CPC) with longer alkyl chain had better self-assembled capacity onto the fresh surfaces of gold electrode than that of cystine-bearing 1,3-bridged calix[4]arene (CC) with comparably shorter alkyl chain.The modified QCM sensors were used to recognize the butylamine isomers in gas. The results showed that the QCM coated with both compounds had preferential affinity to n-butylamine, then i-butylamine, t-butylamine in the range of low concentrations, indicating that in the recognition process, the steric hindrance effect played an important role when forming complex with guest molecules. When the concentrations of the analytes were increased, the polarity and the magnetism of the butylamine became determinative factors. The reversibility was improved greatly and the equilibrium time was much shorter on the self-assembled film than on the film obtained by dropping coating.  相似文献

Five novel azo calix[4]arenes were reported. The p-aminobenzaldehyde was diazotized with sodium nitrite in aqueous hydrochloride solution. Mono-, bis-, tris- and tetrakis(p-formylphenyl)azo calix[4]arenes (including proximal and distal isomers) were obtained respectively by diazo-coupling in different molar ratio to calix[4]arene(1) under pH=7.5--8.5 at 0-5℃. All (p-formylphenyl)azo calix[4]arenes were characterized by ^1H NMR, ^13C NMR, IR, MS (ESIMS) spectroscopies and elemental analysis.  相似文献

Novel macrocyclic monooxa-diselkylene-1,ω-dioxy substituted calix[4]arene derivatives 1a-5a were synthesized by the reaction of calix[4]arene dibromides 1-5 with the disodium salt of bis(2-selenylethyl)ether in the yields between 28% and 64%. Their structures were characterized by proton and carbon NMR spectra. X-Ray structure analysis of la further confirmed the cone conformation of compounds 1a-5a. An interesting host-guest complex of la with dichloromethane via CH/π and C1/π interactions was elucidated. Extraction experiments showed that these novel monooxa-diselkylene-1,ω-dioxy substituted calix[4]arene derivatives 1a-5a had strong extraction ability towards mercury ion. The interaction of Hg^2+with the calix ligand has also been investigated by 1^H NMR titration.  相似文献

This study focused on the use of NMR techniques as a tool for the investigation of complex formation between proparacaine and cyclodextrins (CDs) or p‐sulfonic acid calix[6]arene. The pH dependence of the complexation of proparacaine with β‐CD and p‐sulfonic acid calix[6]arene was studied and binding constants were determined by 1H NMR spectroscopy [diffusion‐ordered spectroscopy (DOSY)] for the charged and uncharged forms of the local anesthetic in β‐CD and p‐sulfonic acid calix[6]arene. The stoichiometries of the complexes was determined and rotating frame Overhauser enhancement spectroscopy (ROESY) 1D experiments revealed details of the molecular insertion of proparacaine into the β‐CD and p‐sulfonic acid calix[6]arene cavities. The results unambiguously demonstrate that pH is an important factor for the development of supramolecular architectures based on β‐CD and p‐sulfonic acid calix[6]arene as the host molecules. Such host–guest complexes were investigated in view of their potential use as new therapeutic formulations, designed to increase the bioavailability and/or to decrease the systemic toxicity of proparacaine in anesthesia procedures. A new oligomeric calix[4]arene‐thiacrown‐4 ( 5 ) was synthesized via a condensation reaction of 5,11,17,23‐tetra‐tert‐butyl‐25,27‐bis‐(4‐aminobenzyloxy)‐calix[4]arene‐thiacrown‐4 ( 4 ) with adipoyl dichloride. In this oligomerization reaction only five/six calix[4]arene‐thiacrown‐4 units were linked in the oligomeric chain. The complexation studies of 5 were made with liquid–liquid‐ extraction and solid–liquid‐sorption procedures. For comparison, the extraction efficiencies of monomers 1 , 3 , and 4 to selected transition metals are reported. The selectivity of monomers 3 and 4 toward Cu2+, Hg2+, and Pb2+ was lost after oligomerization in the two‐phase extraction systems. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Coordination of ten calix[4]arenes bearing boronic acid moieties with five monosaccharides was studied by fluorescence spectrometry. The stability constants (K2) of the complexes and Gibbs free energy change ( ‐ ΔG0) of the coordination reactions were calculated according to the modified Hilderbrand‐Benesi equation. The results obtained indicated that the coordination ability of D‐( ‐ )‐fructose with calix[4] arenes bearing boronic acid moieties was stronger than that of the other monosaccharides. And these calix[4]arene derivatives might be used for identification of L‐( ‐ )‐sorbose.  相似文献

A series of novel double‐armed p‐(tert‐butyl)calix[4]arenes, carrying benzoylamido, 4‐nitrobenzoylamido, isonicotinamido, α‐naphthamido, acetamido, propionamido, or butyramido groups (see 2 – 8 , resp.) were synthesized in 80 – 86% yield by the reaction of the lower‐rim 1,3‐bis(aminoethoxy)‐substituted calix[4]arenediol 1 with the corresponding acylating agents. Their structures were established by elemental analysis, mass, IR, UV, and 1H‐NMR spectroscopy. Ion‐selective electrodes (ISEs) for Pb2+, carrying 2 – 8 in a PVC membrane as neutral ionophore, were prepared, and their selectivity coefficients for Pb2+ (K) were determined against other heavy‐metal ions, alkali and alkaline earth metal ions, and ammonium ions by means of the separate‐solution method. The results obtained indicated that the electrodes based on the calix[4]arene‐derived amides 2 – 8 as the neutral ionophores were all Pb2+ selective and exhibited almost theoretical Nernstian slopes, except for 3 and 4 . Typically, the Pb2+‐selective electrode based on 6 – 8 exhibited almost Nernstian slopes for Pb2+ over a relatively wide concentration range and had a fast response time as well as a long lifetime, although the silver ion interfered strongly. These ISEs based on 6 – 8 showed a relatively good Pb2+ selectivity against most of the interfering cations examined, except for Ag+. The effect of the side‐arm functions of calix[4]arene derivatives 2 – 8 on the Nernstian slopes and on the selectivity coefficients for Pb2+ obtained with the Pb2+ ISEs based on 2 – 8 is discussed.  相似文献

We report here for the first time a cocrystal of the so‐called neutral calix[4]tube, which is two tail‐to‐tail‐arranged and partially deprotonated tetrakis(carboxymethoxy)calix[4]arenes, including three sodium ions, with 2‐(thiophen‐2‐yl)‐1,3‐benzothiazole, namely trisodium bis(carboxymethoxy)bis(carboxylatomethoxy)calix[4]arene tris(carboxymethoxy)(carboxylatomethoxy)calix[4]arene–2‐(thiophen‐2‐yl)‐1,3‐benzothiazole–dimethyl sulfoxide–water (1/1/2/2), 3Na+·C36H30O122?·C36H31O12?·C11H7NS2·2C2H6OS·2H2O, which provides a new approach into the host–guest chemistry of inclusion complexes. Three packing polymorphs of the same benzothiazole with high Z′ (one with Z′ = 8 and two with Z′ = 4) were also discovered in the course of our desired cocrystallization. The inspection of these polymorphs and a previously known polymorph with Z′ = 2 revealed that Z′ increases as the strength of intermolecular contacts decreases. Also, these results expand the frontier of invoking calixarenes as a host for nonsolvent small molecules, besides providing knowledge on the rare formation of high‐Z′ packing polymorphs of simple molecules, such as the target benzothiazole.  相似文献

Thermodynamic parameters obtained from studying the micellization of amphiphilic p‐sulfonatocalix[n]arenes were correlated with the alkyl chain length and with the number of monomeric units (n) in the calix[n]arene structure. The micellization Gibbs free energy (Δ${G{{{\rm o}\hfill \atop {\rm M}\hfill}}}$ ) becomes more negative upon increasing the alkyl chain length of the p‐sulfonatocalix[4]arene. This is in agreement with the trend generally observed for other surfactants. However, the Δ${G{{{\rm o}\hfill \atop {\rm M}\hfill}}}$ value for transferring one CH2 group from the bulk aqueous medium to the micelle [Δ${G{{{\rm o}\hfill \atop {\rm M}\hfill}}}$ (CH2)] is lower than the value generally observed for single‐chain surfactants, suggesting the existence of intramolecular interactions between the alkyl chains of the free unimers. On the other hand, the critical micelle concentration (cmc; per alkyl chain unit) increased with the increasing number of monomeric units. These results are explained on the basis of the conformation adopted by the calixarene in the bulk solution. The calix[4]arene derivatives are preorganized into the cone conformation, which is favorable for the formation of globular aggregates. The calix[6]arene and calix[8]arene derivatives do not adopt cone conformations. Changing these conformations to the more favorable cone conformer in the aggregates implies an energetic cost that contributes to making Δ${G{{{\rm o}\hfill \atop {\rm M}\hfill}}}$ less efficient. In the case of the calix[6]arene derivative this energetic cost is enthalpic, whereas in the case of the octamer it is both enthalpic and entropic. Both the Δ${G{{{\rm o}\hfill \atop {\rm M}\hfill}}}$ (CH2) value and the change in heat capacity (ΔC${{\rm p}{{{\rm o}\hfill \atop {\rm M}\hfill}}}$ ) seem to indicate that for the cone calix[4]arene derivatives all alkyl chains are solvated by the same hydration shell, whereas in the case of the highly flexible calix[8]arene derivative each alkyl chain is individually hydrated.  相似文献

The synthesis of two new flavin substituted calix[4]arene derivatives, 9 and 10 , is described. The first flavin substituted calix[4]arene derivative 9 was synthesized by the reaction of 3‐methylalloxazine ( 5 ) with 25,27‐bis(3‐bromopropoxy)‐26,28‐dihydroxy‐5,11,17,23‐tetra(tert‐butyl)calix[4]arene ( 4 ) in high yield (92%). The other derivative 10 was prepared from 3‐methylalloxazine‐1‐acetic acid ( 7 ) and 25,27‐bis(3‐cyanopropoxy)calix[4]arene ( 3 ). All new compounds were characterized by a combination of FT‐IR and 1H‐NMR spectroscopy, and elemental‐analysis techniques.  相似文献

Five novel Schiff's bases p‐tert‐butylcalix[4]arenes have been synthesized in high yields by the reaction of 1,3‐distally disubstituted p‐tert‐butylcalix[4]arene amine (1) with the corresponding aromatic aldehydes, and their cation binding abilities and selectivities with alkali and heavy metal ions have been evaluated by solvent extraction of aqueous metal picrates to show the highest Ag+ extractability for Schiff's base p‐tert‐butylcalix[4]arene (6) and the best Na+/Li+ and Ag+/Ti+ selectivities for Schiff's base p‐tert‐butylcalix[4]arene (4 and 2) over any other calix[4]arene derivatives, respectively.  相似文献

Nitro‐substituted calixarenes in a cone and a partial cone conformation were prepared selectively using distinct synthetic routes. The selective nitration of tris‐ or penta‐substituted phenols of calix[4]arene or calix[6]arene provided mononitrocalix[n ]arenes (=  4, 6). Subsequent addition of ethylene glycol (EG) moieties to mononitrocalix[4]arene provided tetraEGylcalix[4]arene in locked partial cone conformation. By an alternative route – initial addition of EG moieties to the non‐derivatized calix[4]arene followed by the uncontrolled nitration – provided mononitro‐ and dinitro‐tetraEGylcalix[4]arenes locked in the cone conformation. These nitrocalix[4]arenes with locked cone or partial cone conformation are useful building blocks for further assembly of supramolecular systems, especially in the area of material sciences.  相似文献

The water‐soluble tetra‐, hexa‐ and octasulfonated calix[4]arenes, calix[6]arenes, and calix[8]arenes 1 – 3 , respectively, were investigated as potential synthetic receptors for photolabile cholinergic ligand A , a photolytic precursor of choline. Ligand A is a bifunctional molecule carrying a photolabile 2‐nitrobenzyl group at one end and a choline moiety at the other end. Results from NMR studies have shown that calixarenes 1 – 3 form stable 1 : 1 complexes with A , having similar binding potential to that observed with the cholinergic enzymes acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase. Further studies have suggested that calix[8]arene forms a ditopic complex by binding concomitantly to both the cationic choline moiety and the aromatic photolabile group of A , whereas calix[4]arene and calix[6]arene form monotopic complexes with A . The ditopic complex between calix[8]arene and A results from mutually induced fitting process, while the monotopic complexes between calix[4]arene and A can be regulated by pH: at neutral pH, calix[4]arene specifically binds the cationic choline moiety, while, at acidic pH, it complexes unselectively both the cationic choline moiety and the aromatic group of A . Our results show that para‐sulfonated calixarenes are versatile artificial receptors which bind in various ways to the bifunctional photolabile cholinergic ligand A , depending on their size, geometry, and state of protonation.  相似文献
