Herein we report an easy and efficient approach to prepare lightweight porous polyimide (PI)/reduced graphene oxide (RGO) composite films. First, porous poly (amic acid) (PAA)/graphene oxide (GO) composite films were prepared via non‐solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) process. Afterwards PAA was converted into PI through thermal imidization and simultaneously GO dispersed in PAA matrix was in situ thermally reduced to RGO. The GO undergoing the same thermal treatment process as thermal imidization was characterized with thermogravimetric analysis, Raman spectra, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction to demonstrate that GO was in situ reduced during thermal imidization process. The resultant porous PI/RGO composite film (500‐µm thickness), which was prepared from pristine PAA/GO composite with 8 wt% GO, exhibited effective electrical conductivity of 0.015 S m?1 and excellent specific shielding efficiency value of 693 dB cm2 g?1. In addition, the thermal stability of the porous PI/RGO composite films was also dramatically enhanced. Compared with that of porous PI film, the 5% weight loss temperature of the composite film mentioned above was improved from 525°C to 538°C. Moreover, tensile test showed that the composite film mentioned above possessed a tensile strength of 6.97 MPa and Young's modulus of 545 MPa, respectively. Corn starch (CS) and soy protein isolate (SPI), as inexpensive, abundant, and biodegradable materials, can chemically interact well with each other to produce biofilms. However, to overcome some of their physical and mechanical limitations, it is preferred to use their composite form, employing reinforcing materials. In this study, initially, graphene (G) and graphene oxide (GO) were synthesized by a green method. Then, to enhance the polymer blend final properties, the effects of adding G and GO in the range of 0.5 to 2 wt% on physical and mechanical properties of starch/protein blend were investigated. The results showed that the presence of 0.5‐wt% G and 2‐wt% GO significantly increased the modulus of starch/protein film from 252 to 578 and 449 MPa, respectively. In addition, the thermal stability of CS/SPI/GO (2 wt%) composite film was 50°C to 60°C more than that of the pure starch/protein film. On the other hand, G‐reinforced composite films tended to decline water diffusion compared with the pure polymer film. In addition, the composite film with 2‐wt% GO content had the lowest oxygen permeation rate (3.48 cm3 μm/m2d kpa) among the other composite films.  相似文献

The novel polymer composite of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polyol(PO) and graphene oxide (GO) was used to prepare the PVA/PO and GO/PVA/PO with different weight percents of GO (0.5 and 1% denoted as (0.5 wt%)GO/PVA/PO and (1 wt%)GO/PVA/PO, respectively) through solution casting blend technique. The structure–properties of all used films were confirmed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and mechanical properties. The SEM results exhibited the uniform and homogeneous dispersion of GO in the PVA/PO blend matrix. The TEM and XRD analysis confirmed the structure and exfoliation of GO nanosheets, respectively. Thermal stability suggested that (0.5 wt%)GO/PVA/PO and (1 wt%) GO/PVA/PO films are more stable than PVA/PO. The tensile strength of (0.5 wt%)GO/PVA/PO and (1 wt%)GO/PVA/PO films reached 270.5% and 1349.6%, respectively, which are higher than that of the PVA/PO film. The decrease in the water absorption (WA) of GO/PVA/PO was found from 110.5 to 38.4%. The physico-mechanical properties of used films suggested that the prepared GO/PVA/PO blend composite films can be applied in food packaging areas.  相似文献

We report herein the engineering of the surface/interface properties of graphene oxide (GO) films by controllable photoreduction treatment. In our recent works, typical photoreduction processes, including femtosecond laser direct writing (FsLDW), laser holographic lithography, and controllable UV irradiation, have been employed to make conductive reduced graphene oxide (RGO) microcircuits, hierarchical RGO micro‐nanostructures with both superhydrophobicity and structural color, as well as moisture‐responsive GO/RGO bilayer structures. Compared with other reduction protocols, for instance, chemical reduction and thermal annealing, the photoreduction strategy shows distinct advantages, such as mask‐free patterning, chemical‐free modification, controllable reduction degree, and environmentally friendly processing. These works indicate that the surface and interface engineering of GO through controllable photoreduction of GO holds great promise for the development of various graphene‐based microdevices.  相似文献

Chemical modification of graphene oxide has become a popular method for imparting unique properties to extend its application. Here, we show a simple way to synthesize amphiphilic graphene oxide (AGO) by grafting quaternary ammonium salt onto GO sheets. The AGO sheets not only showed high thermal stability and good dispersion in many polar and non-polar solvents in comparison to GO sheets but also the chemical modification maintained the two-dimensional structure. As a result, the AGO sheets improve the interfacial interaction between ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE). Because of the large size of AGO, the location of AGO is very dependent on the mixing strategy. The AGO was dispersed in the EVA phase when AGO was mixed first with EVA and then with LLDPE, whereas it was confined in the LLDPE phase when AGO was mixed first with LLDPE and then with EVA. AGO sheets were found at the interface of LLDPE and EVA when AGO, EVA, and LLDPE were mixed together, suggesting that AGO has a high interfacial interaction with both LLDPE and EVA. These high interfacial interactions lead to high tensile strength, Young's modulus, complex viscosity and crystallization temperature in comparison to the EVA/LLDPE blends without AGO sheets.  相似文献

Poly(D,L‐lactide‐co‐glycolide) 50:50 (PLGA)/graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposite films were prepared with various GO weight fractions. A significant enhancement of mechanical properties of the PLGA/GO nanocomposite films was obtained with GO weight fractions. The incorporation of only 5 wt% of GO resulted in an ~2.5‐fold and ~4.7‐fold increase in the tensile strength and Young's modulus of PLGA, respectively. The thermomechanical behaviors of composite films were investigated by dynamic mechanical analysis. Results indicated that the values of Tg and storage moduli of the PLGA/GO composites were higher than those of the pristine PLGA. The improvement in oxygen barrier properties of composites was presumably attributed to the filler effect of the randomly dispersed GO throughout the PLGA matrix. In this work, we also studied in vitro biodegradation behavior. PLGA/GO composite films were hydrolyzed at 37°C for periods up to 49 days. Because of the presence of GO nanosheets, degradation of composite films took place more slowly with increasing GO amounts. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Injectable hydrogels have attracted a lot of attention in drug delivery, however, their capacity to deliver water-insoluble or hydrophobic anti-cancer drugs is limited. Here, we developed injectable graphene oxide/graphene composite supramolecular hydrogels to deliver anti-cancer drugs. Pluronic F-127 was used to stabilize graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (RGO) in solution, which was mixed with α-cyclodextrin (α-CD) solution to form hydrogels. Native hydrogel was used as control. GO or RGO slightly shortened gelation time. The storage and loss moduli of the hydrogels were tracked by dynamic force measurement. The storage modulus of GO or RGO composite hydrogels was larger than that of the native hydrogel. Hydrogels were unstable in solution and eroded gradually. GO or RGO in Pluronic F-127 solution could potentially improve the solubility of the water-insoluble anti-cancer drug camptothecin (CPT), especially with large drug-loaded CPT amount. Drug release behaviors from solutions and hydrogels were characterized. The nanocomponents (GO or RGO) were able to bind more drug molecules either for CPT or for doxorubicin hydrochloride (DXR) in solution. Therefore, GO or RGO composite hydrogel could potentially enable better controlled and gentler drug release (for both CPT and DXR) than native hydrogel.  相似文献

This paper is a review of the recent progress on gas sensors using graphene oxide (GO). GO is not a new material but its unique features have recently been of interest for gas sensing applications, and not just as an intermediate for reduced graphene oxide (RGO). Graphene and RGO have been well known gas-sensing materials, but GO is also an attractive sensing material that has been well studied these last few years. The functional groups on GO nanosheets play important roles in adsorbing gas molecules, and the electric or optical properties of GO materials change with exposure to certain gases. Addition of metal nanoparticles and metal oxide nanocomposites is an effective way to make GO materials selective and sensitive to analyte gases. In this paper, several applications of GO based sensors are summarized for detection of water vapor, NO2, H2, NH3, H2S, and organic vapors. Also binding energies of gas molecules onto graphene and the oxygenous functional groups are summarized, and problems and possible solutions are discussed for the GO-based gas sensors.  相似文献

Water barrier properties (i.e., water resistance) of poly(styrene-co-butyl acrylate)/graphite oxide (poly(St-co-BA)/GO) nanocomposites were studied using hydrophobicity and permeability analysis. Poly(St-co-BA)/GO nanocomposite latices were obtained using the miniemulsion polymerization technique. The hydrophobicity of the synthesized nanocomposites was studied using contact angle measurements, while water permeability was obtained by measuring the moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR). The nanocomposites were treated with hydrazine hydrate in order to reduce the functional groups on graphite oxide (GO). The focus was on determining the effect of reducing the functional groups of GO on the water barrier properties of its polymer nanocomposites. In general, the nanolayered graphene platelets in GO and RGO resulted in lower water permeation in the final films compared to pure polymer. However, results showed that nanocomposites containing the reduced-GO (RGO) had better water resistance and barrier properties compared to those made with unreduced GO (i.e., as-prepared GO). The nanocomposites containing RGO had higher hydrophobicity and lower water uptake and MVTR compared to those made with as-prepared GO, resulting in better barrier performance. This was attributed to the high hydrophobic nature of the RGO, which exhibited lower water solubility that resulted in films with lower MVTR values compared to those made with as-prepared GO.  相似文献

This study describes the polymerization of graphene oxide (GO) nanosheet to reduced‐GO‐aminoclay (RGC) by covalent functionalization of chemically reactive epoxy groups on the basal planes of GO with amine groups of magnesium phyllosilicate clay (known as aminoclay). The resulting RGC sheets were characterized and applied to support platinum nanostructures at toluene/water interface. Pt nanoparticles (NPs) with diameters about several nanometers were adhered to RGC sheets by chemical reduction of [PtCl2(cod)] (cod = cis,cis‐1,5‐cyclooctadiene) complex. Catalytic activity of Pt NPs thin films were investigated in the methanol oxidation reaction. Cyclic voltammetry results exhibit that the Pt/reduced‐GO (RGO) and Pt/RGC thin films showed improved catalytic activity in methanol oxidation reaction in comparison to other Pt NPs thin films, demonstrating that the prepared Pt/RGO and Pt/RGC thin films are promising catalysts for direct methanol fuel cell.  相似文献

In recent years, because of the limited availability of oil resources and the increasing concerns regarding environment protection, much attention has been drawn to produce packaging films based on degradable biopolymers instead of synthetic polymers. On the other hand, because of the high costs of oil extraction, raw materials and film production, and disposing of the waste products of synthetic films, the need to replace these films with less pollutant and more cost‐effective films is growing globally. In this study, to answer the need for replacing synthetic polymer films, nanocomposite films based on thermoplastic starch reinforced with cellulose nanofibers and graphene oxide nanoplatelets were produced and characterized. The results implied that the synergistic effect of cellulose nanofibers and graphene oxide nanoplatelets has played an important role in improving the mechanical properties of the films. The results showed that with the addition of cellulose nanofibers and graphene oxide nanoplatelets, the tensile strength and elastic modulus of starch film were increased from 3 and 32 MPa to 13 and 436 MPa, which corresponds to 438% and 1435% improvement, respectively. In addition, the oxygen permeability resistance and the water vapor transmission for samples containing 3 wt% of graphene oxide nanoplatelets was decreased by 78% and 30% compared with the thermoplastic starch film, respectively. The permeability coefficient of the samples containing 3 wt% graphene oxide nanoplatelets for oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide have proved to be 0.051, 0.054, and 0.047 barrer, which shows that these films can perform well as packaging films.  相似文献

Graphene‐polymer nanocomposites have significant potential in many applications such as photovoltaic devices, fuel cells, and sensors. Functionalization of graphene is an essential step in the synthesis of uniformly distributed graphene‐polymer nanocomposites, but often results in structural defects in the graphitic sp2 carbon framework. To address this issue, we synthesized graphene oxide (GO) by oxidative exfoliation of graphite and then reduced it into graphene via self‐polymerization of dopamine (DA). The simultaneous reduction of GO into graphene, and polymerization and coating of polydopamine (PDA) on the reduced graphene oxide (RGO) surface were confirmed with XRD, UV–Vis, XPS, Raman, TGA, and FTIR. The degree of reduction of GO increased with increasing DA/GO ratio from 1/4 to 4/1 and/or with increasing temperature from room temperature to 60 °C. A RAFT agent, 2‐(dodecylthiocarbonothioylthio)?2‐methylpropionic acid, was linked onto the surface of the PDA/RGO, with a higher equivalence of RAFT agent in the reaction leading to a higher concentration of RAFT sites on the surface. Graphene‐poly(methyl methacrylate), graphene‐poly(tert‐butyl acrylate), and graphene‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) nanocomposites were synthesized via RAFT polymerization, showing their characteristic solubility in several different solvents. This novel synthetic route was found facile and can be readily used for the rational design of graphene‐polymer nanocomposites, promoting their applications. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Functional fillers in multilayered films provide opportunity in tailoring the mechanical properties through chemical cross‐linking. In this study, Laponite‐graphene oxide co‐dispersion was used to incorporate graphene oxide (GO) easily into polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/Laponite layer‐by‐layer (LBL) films. The LBL films were found to be uniform and the layer thickness increased linearly with number of depositions. The process was extended to a large number of depositions to investigate the macroscopic mechanical properties of the free‐standing films. The LBL films showed remarkable improvements in mechanical properties as compared to neat PVA film. The GO‐incorporated LBL films displayed higher enhancements in the tensile strength, ductility, and toughness as compared to that of PVA/Laponite LBL films, upon chemical cross‐linking. This suggests the advantageous effects of GO incorporation. Interestingly, cross‐linking of LBL films for longer time period (>1 h) and higher temperature (~80 °C) was not found to be much beneficial. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. In this work, we developed a roll‐to‐roll printed poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene)/polystyrene sulphoanate without graphene oxide (GO) (PEDOT/PSS) and with graphene oxide (PEDOT/PSS/GO) plastic films for the electrochemical determination of carbofuran. Both the PEDOT/PSS and PEDOT/PSS/GO plastic films showed electroactivity towards the oxidation of carbofuran. Incorporation of graphene oxide (GO) improves the electrochemical activity of carbofuran and increased its sensitivity. The printed plastic films were characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), surface profilometer, four point probe and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The effects of pH, deposition time, deposition potential and film thickness on the oxidation peak current of carbofuran were investigated. Under the optimized conditions, a dynamic linear range of 1 μM–90 μM with a detection limit of 1.0×10?7 M (S/N=3) were obtained. The printed PEDOT/PSS/GO plastic electrode was applied for the determination of carbofuran in vegetable and fruit samples with recoveries between 94.4 and 101.8 %.  相似文献

New graphene oxide (GO)‐based hydrogels that contain vitamin B2/B12 and vitamin C (ascorbic acid) have been synthesized in water (at neutral pH value). These gel‐based soft materials have been used to synthesize various metal nanoparticles, including Au, Ag, and Pd nanoparticles, as well as nanoparticle‐containing reduced graphene oxide (RGO)‐based nanohybrid systems. This result indicates that GO‐based gels can be used as versatile reactors for the synthesis of different nanomaterials and hybrid systems on the nanoscale. Moreover, the RGO‐based nanohybrid hydrogel with Pd nanoparticles was used as an efficient catalyst for C? C bond‐formation reactions with good yields and showed high recyclability in Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reactions.  相似文献

Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets are readily reduced by aniline above room temperature in an aqueous acid medium, with the aniline simultaneously undergoing oxidative polymerization to produce the reduced graphene oxide‐polyaniline nanofiber (RGO‐PANi) composites. The resulting RGO‐PANi composites and RGO (after dissolution of PANi) were characterized by XPS, XRD analysis, TGA, UV–visible absorption spectroscopy, and TEM. It was also found that the RGO‐PANi composites exhibit good specific capacitance during galvanostatic charging–discharging when used as capacitor electrodes.

Facile and efficient reduction of graphene oxide (GO) and novel applications of the reduced graphene oxide (RGO) based materials are of current interest. Herein, we report a novel and facile method for the reduction of GO by using a biocompatible reducing agent dithiothreitol (DTT). Stabilization of DTT by the formation of a six‐membered ring with internal disulfide linkage upon oxidation is responsible for the reduction of GO. The reduced graphene oxide is characterized by several spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. Dispersion of RGO in DMF remained stable for several weeks suggesting that the RGO obtained by DTT‐mediated reduction is hydrophobic in nature. This method can be considered for large scale production of good quality RGO. Treatment of RGO with hemin afforded a functional hemin‐reduced graphene oxide (H‐RGO) hybrid material that exhibited remarkable protective effects against the potentially harmful peroxynitrite (PN). A detailed inhibition study on PN‐mediated oxidation and nitration reactions indicate that the interaction between hemin and RGO results in a synergistic effect, which leads to an efficient reduction of PN to nitrate. The RGO also catalyzes the isomerization of PN to nitrate as the RGO layers facilitate the rapid recombination of .NO2 with FeIV=O species. In the presence of reducing agents such as ascorbic acid, the FeIV=O species can be reduced to FeIII, thus helping to maintain the PN reductase cycle.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate physical and mechanical properties of graphene oxide (GO)/polyethersulfone (PES) nanocomposite films. The films were produced by solution casting method. The mechanical properties of composite films were evaluated by tensile test. A significant enhancement in the mechanical properties of neat PES films was obtained incorporating a small amount of GO loading (0.05–1 wt.%). The highest tensile strength was observed at 1 wt.% of GO. Comparisons were made between experimental data and the Halpin–Tsai model predictions for the tensile strength and modulus of GO/PES composites. The effect of an orientation factor on model predictions was also acquired. The hydrophilicity of the nanocomposite was evaluated by assessing contact angle and enhanced wet ability of the films was obtained with increasing the amount of GO up to 1%. The morphology of the nanocomposites was investigated using scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy and the results revealed a good dispersion of GO in the PES matrix. The thermal behavior of the composite was also studied. Thermal stability of composites was increased by adding the GO. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
