Open‐cell hydrophilic polymer foams are prepared through oil‐in‐water Pickering high internal phase emulsions (HIPEs). The Pickering HIPEs are stabilized by commercial titania (TiO2) nanoparticles with adding small amounts of non‐ionic surfactant Tween85. The morphologies, such as average void diameter and interconnectivity, of the foams can be tailored easily by varying the TiO2 nanoparticles and Tween85 concentrations. Further, investigation of the HIPE stability, emulsion structure and the location of TiO2 nanoparticles in resulting foams shows that the surfactant tends to occupy the oil‐water interface at the contact point of adjacent droplets, where the interconnecting pores are hence likely to be formed after the consolidation of the continuous phase. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this work, we report the synthesis of magnetic sulfur-doped Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4:S NPs) with a novel simple strategy, which includes low temperature multicomponent mixing and high temperature sintering. The prepared Fe3O4:S NPs exhibit a much better adsorption performance towards Pb(II) than bare Fe3O4 nanoparticles. FTIR, XPS, and XRD analyses suggested that the removal mechanisms of Pb(II) by Fe3O4:S NPs were associated with the process of precipitation (formation of PbS), hydrolysis, and surface adsorption. The kinetic studies showed that the adsorption data were described well by a pseudo second-order kinetic model, and the adsorption isotherms could be presented by Freundlich isotherm model. Moreover, the adsorption was not significantly affected by the coexisting ions, and the adsorbent could be easily separated from water by an external magnetic field after Pb(II) adsorption. Thus, Fe3O4:S NPs are supposed to be a good adsorbents for Pb(II) ions in environmental remediation.  相似文献

An easy method is presented to fabricate monodisperse magnetic macroporous polymer beads(MMPBs). Waterin-oil high internal phase emulsion(HIPE) is prepared by emulsifying aqueous iron ions solution in an oil phase containing monomers. The HIPE is introduced into a simple microfluidic device to fabricate monodisperse(water-in-oil)-in-water double emulsion droplets. The droplets serve as microreactors to synthesize Fe3O4 nanoparticles and are on-line polymerized to form MMPBs. The prepared MMPBs display uniform size, interconnected porous structure, superparamagnetic behavior and uniform distribution of Fe3O4 in polymer matrix. The MMPBs are characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), vibrating sample magnetometry(VSM). We believe that this method is a universal technique in preparing macroporous nanocomposite beads.  相似文献

We have investigated the adsorption of herring sperm DNA on Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (NPs) before and after modification with the ionic liquid 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide. Experiments were performed in a batch mode, and the effects of DNA concentration, pH of the sample solution, ionic strength, temperature, and contact time between reagents were optimized. An evaluation of the adsorption isotherm revealed that the Langmuir model better fits the equilibrium data than the Freundlich model. The maximum adsorption capacities of the unmodified and modified NPs, respectively, were found to be 11.8 and 19.8 mg DNA per gram of adsorbent. The adsorption of DNA onto the modified NPs was endothermic, while it was exothermic in the case of the unmodified NPs. The DNA can be desorbed from the modified surfaces of the NPs by using EDTA as the eluent. The NPs were able to adsorb about 90?±?1.5 % of DNA after being recycled for three times. The method is simple, fast, robust, and does not require organic solvents or sophisticated equipment.

Fe3O4 nanoparticles as well as 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bromidecoated Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared and used for adsorption of DNA. The mean size and the surface morphology of both nanoparticles were characterized by TEM, DLS, XRD, FTIR and TGA techniques. The correlation coefficient of the Langmuir model suggests a better fit for the experimental equilibrium adsorption data.  相似文献

A composite of highly dispersed Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) anchored in three‐dimensional hierarchical porous carbon networks (Fe3O4/3DHPC) as an anode material for lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs) was prepared by means of a deposition technique assisted by a supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2)‐expanded ethanol solution. The as‐synthesized Fe3O4/3DHPC composite exhibits a bimodal porous 3D architecture with mutually connected 3.7 nm mesopores defined in the macroporous wall on which a layer of small and uniform Fe3O4 NPs was closely coated. As an anode material for LIBs, the Fe3O4/3DHPC composite with 79 wt % Fe3O4 (Fe3O4/3DHPC‐79) delivered a high reversible capacity of 1462 mA h g?1 after 100 cycles at a current density of 100 mA g?1, and maintained good high‐rate performance (728, 507, and 239 mA h g?1 at 1, 2, and 5 C, respectively). Moreover, it showed excellent long‐term cycling performance at high current densities, 1 and 2 A g?1. The enhanced lithium‐storage behavior can be attributed to the synergistic effect of the porous support and the homogeneous Fe3O4 NPs. More importantly, this straightforward, highly efficient, and green synthetic route will definitely enrich the methodologies for the fabrication of carbon‐based transition‐metal oxide composites, and provide great potential materials for additional applications in supercapacitors, sensors, and catalyses.  相似文献

In this paper, the synthesis of three types of porous materials (PMs) (porous Fe3O4, MIL-101 metal-organic framework (MOF), and MCM-41 mesoporous silica) by hydrothermal method was performed. The incorporation of Ag nanoparticles (Ag NPs) was carried out after the synthesis reaction of supports in MCM-41 and MIL-101 MOF. Ag core@ porous Fe3O4 core–shell system was prepared via a one-pot hydrothermal method. Ag-MIL-101 was obtained using Urtica dioica leaf extract as the green solvent and reducing agent. The antibacterial activity of Ag-PM nanocomposites (NCs) was investigated on both Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. The size of the silver NPs was determined to be 12 and 30 nm in MCM-41 and MIL-101 MOF, respectively. The diameter of Ag core in Ag@Fe3O4 shell was ~135 nm. The antibacterial activity of Ag-PMs was in the order Ag-MCM-41 > Ag-MIL-101 > Ag core@Fe3O4 shell. The loading percent of Ag NPs in MCM-41 (84%) was more than that in MIL-101 (53%) and Fe3O4 (31%). The release of Ag+ ions from Ag-MCM-41, Ag-MIL-101, and Ag@Fe3O4 NCs was 46, 2, and 1 ppm, respectively. The release of the Ag+ ions and, consequently, the antibacterial activity of NCs depend on the uniform distribution, particles size, and the absence of aggregation of Ag NPs in PMs.  相似文献

Polyethylenimine (PEI) and titanium dioxide nanoparticles (nano-TiO2) functionalized poly- HIPE beads were synthesized by suspension polymerization of styrene/divinylbenzene high internal phase emulsion (HIPE) containing PEI and nano-TiO2 particles in inner phase. The products are uniform and spherical beads with average diameter of 1 mm. Characterization results showed good thermal stability and desired mechanical strength. CO2 adsorption tests were performed with CO2/H2O/N2 (1 : 1 : 8) gas mixture. Nano-TiO2 particles distinctly improved the CO2 adsorption performance of the polyHIPE beads, resulting in enhanced CO2 adsorption capacity and fast adsorption/desorption kinetics. Besides, the functionalized polyHIPE beads exhibited remarkable cycle stability.  相似文献

Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) were prepared by the co‐precipitation of Fe3+ and Fe2+ with ammonium hydroxide, and were modified by four different surfactants. The modified Fe3O4 NPs were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray powder diffraction, transmission electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer. Then, the modified Fe3O4 NPs were dispersed in ethiodized‐oil by mechanical agitation and ultrasonic vibration to obtain stable Fe3O4/ethiodized‐oil magnetic fluids (MFs). The magnetic properties and rheological properties of the MFs were measured using a Gouy magnetic balance and a rotational rheometer, respectively. The saturation magnetization of the Fe3O4 modified by oleic acid was 52.1 emu/g. Furthermore, the result showed that the inductive heating effect of oleic acid stabilized Fe3O4/ethiodized‐oil MF was remarkable and it only took 650 s for the temperature rising from 25°C to 65°C. The specific absorption rate of the MF was 50.16 W/(g of Fe). It had a potential application in arterial embolization hyperthermia.  相似文献

For the efficient synthesis of transition-metal cobalt oxide nanoparticles (Co3O4 NPs) without using any costly and toxic solvent or complicated equipment, the co-precipitation method was used in this work. Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), UV–Vis spectrophotometry, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD), the prepared Co3O4 NPs were characterized and identified. The influence of prepared Co3O4 NPs on the developmental synthesis of some selenopyridine/quinoline derivatives under different microwave irradiation powers and irradiation times was investigated via click (reaction) chemistry. The reusable Co3O4 nanoparticles have high catalytic activity under microwave irradiation for the synthesis of organoselenium compounds with higher yields (>?90%), milder reaction conditions and shorter time without significantly decreasing the reaction rates and yields.

This study presents the feasibility of using various functionalized substrates, Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) and Al2O3 spheres, for the removal of Cd from aqueous solution. To improve the materials’ affinity to Cd, we explored four different surface modifications, namely (3-Aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES), L-Cysteine (Cys) and 3-(triethoxysilyl) propylsuccinic anhydride (CAS). Particles were characterized by FTIR, FIB-SEM and DLS and studied for their ability to remove metal ions. Modified NPs with APTES proved to be effective for Cd removal with efficiencies of up to 94%, and retention ratios up to 0.49 mg of Cd per g of NPs. Batch adsorption experiments investigated the influence of pH, contact time, and adsorbent dose on Cd adsorption. Additionally, the recyclability of the adsorbent and its potential phytotoxicity and animal toxicity effects were explored. The Langmuir, Freundlich, pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order models were applied to describe the behavior of the Cd adsorption processes. The adsorption and desorption results showed that Fe3O4 NPs modified with APTES are promising low-cost platforms with low phytotoxicity for highly efficient heavy metal removal in wastewater.  相似文献

The objective of the present study was to investigate the potential use of applying polythiophene coating on magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles for the enhancement of asphaltene adsorption. Two stages of experimental were conducted. In the first stage, the ability of coated nanoparticles for asphaltene adsorption in synthetic asphaltene-toluene solution was evaluated. The effects of parameters such as nanoparticles concentration, initial concentration of asphaltene, and temperature were studied. In the second stage, the performance of the coated nanoparticles for the adsorption of asphaltene from crude oil was investigated under atmospheric pressure and a pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) apparatus was utilized for simulated reservoir conditions. Fe3O4 and Fe3O4-PT MNPs were synthesized using an effective co-precipitation method. The results of the first-stage tests indicated that the maximum adsorption capacity values for Fe3O4 and Fe3O4-PT MNPs were 0.79 and 1.09?mg?m?2, respectively. The optimum value of nanoparticles concentration was approximately determined as 10?g?L?1. According to the adsorption isotherms and kinetics, the Langmuir and pseudo-second-order Lagergren models were consistent with the experimental data, respectively. The average adsorption efficiencies for Fe3O4-PT and Fe3O4 MNPs were 78.98 and 65.94%, respectively. The results of the performed experiments on crude oil showed that Fe3O4-PT MNPs could adsorb asphaltenes from crude oil in a similar trend as synthetic asphaltene-toluene solution.  相似文献

This study was conducted in order to identify the pore-level mechanisms controlling the nanoparticles–surfactant foams flow process and residual oil mobilization in etched glass micro-models. The dominant mechanism of foam propagation and residual oil mobilization in water-wet system was identified as lamellae division and emulsification of oil, respectively. There was inter-bubble trapping of oil and water, lamellae detaching and collapsing of SDS-foam in the presence of oil in water-wet system and in oil-wet system. The dominant mechanisms of nanoparticles–surfactant foam flow and residual oil mobilization in oil-wet system were the generation of pore spanning continuous gas foam. The identified mechanisms were independent of pore geometry. The SiO2-SDS and Al2O3-SDS foams propagate successfully in water-wet and oil-wet systems; foam coalescence was prevented during film stretching due to the adsorption and accumulation of the nanoparticles at the gas–liquid interface of the foam, which increased the films’ interfacial viscoelasticity.  相似文献

This work described the one-pot synthesis of apple pectin encapsulated Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4/Pectin NPs) which is prepared by co-precipitation of Fe(II/(III) ions in alkaline solution mediated by pectin under ultrasound condition. This process led to formation of magnetic nanoparticles within the network of pectin. Physicochemical characterization of the as-synthesized Fe3O4/Pectin NPs was carried out through electron microscopy (SEM and TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The in vitro cytotoxic and anti-colorectal cancer effects of biologically synthesized Fe3O4/Pectin NPs against Ramos.2G6.4C10, HCT-8 [HRT-18], HCT 116, and HT-29 cancer cell lines were assessed. The anti-colorectal cancer properties of the Fe3O4/Pectin NPs could significantly remove Ramos.2G6.4C10, HCT-8 [HRT-18], HCT 116, and HT-29 cancer cell lines in a time and concentration-dependent manner by MTT assay. The IC50 of the Fe3O4/Pectin NPs were 317, 337, 187, and 300 µg/mL against Ramos.2G6.4C10, HCT-8 [HRT-18], HCT 116, and HT-29 cancer cell lines. The antioxidant activity of Fe3O4/Pectin NPs was determined by DPPH method. The Fe3O4/Pectin NPs showed the high antioxidant activity according to the IC50 value. It seems that the anti-human colorectal cancer effect of recent nanoparticles is due to their antioxidant effects.  相似文献

An electrochemical approach for the sensitive detection of sequence-specific DNA has been developed. Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) assembled on the Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) were utilized as signal amplification sources. High-content HRP was adsorbed on the Fe3O4 NPs via layer-by-layer (LbL) technique to prepare HRP-functionalized Fe3O4 NPs. Signal probe and diluting probe were then immobilized on the HRP-functionalized Fe3O4 NPs through the bridge of Au NPs. Thereafter, the resulting DNA-Au-HRP-Fe3O4 (DAHF) bioconjugates were successfully anchored to the gold nanofilm (GNF) modified electrode surface for the construction of sandwich-type electrochemical DNA biosensor. The electrochemical behaviors of the prepared biosensor had been investigated by the cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry (i-t), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Under optimal conditions, the proposed strategy could detect the target DNA down to the level of 0.7 fmol with a dynamic range spanning 4 orders of magnitude and exhibited excellent discrimination to two-base mismatched DNA and non-complementary DNA sequences.  相似文献

In this study, a new type of alumina-coated magnetite nanoparticles (Fe3O4/Al2O3 NPs) modified by the surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) has been successfully synthesized and applied for extraction of trimethoprim (TMP) from environmental water samples based on mixed hemimicelles solid-phase extraction (MHSPE). The coating of alumina on Fe3O4 NPs not only avoids the dissolving of Fe3O4 NPs in acidic solution, but also extends their application without sacrificing their unique magnetization characteristics. Due to the high surface area of these new sorbents and the excellent adsorption capacity after surface modification by SDS, satisfactory concentration factor and extraction recoveries can be produced with only 0.1 g Fe3O4/Al2O3 NPs. Main factors affecting the adsolubilization of TMP such as the amount of SDS, pH value, standing time, desorption solvent and maximal extraction volume were optimized. Under the selected conditions, TMP could be quantitatively extracted. The recoveries of TMP by analyzing the four spiked water samples were between 67 and 86%, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) ranged from 2 to 6%. Detection and quantification limits of the proposed method were 0.09 and 0.24 μg L−1, respectively. Concentration factor of 1000 was achieved using this method to extract 500 mL of different environmental water samples. Compared with conventional SPE methods, the advantages of this new Fe3O4/Al2O3 NPs MHSPE method still include easy preparation and regeneration of sorbents, short times of sample pretreatment, high extraction yields, and high breakthrough volumes. It shows great analytical potential in preconcentration of organic compounds from large volume water samples.  相似文献

Several new foaming agent formulations (surfactants and polymers) in the presence of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) were developed in 3% salinity (NaCl, 2.4?wt%, CaCl2, 0.6?wt%). The dispersion stability of the MWCNT and the viscosity of the solutions were examined as a prerequisite for reservoir applications. Foam was generated in situ and one-dimensional flow-through tests were performed by co-injecting air and foaming solution either in the presence of MWCNT or at particle-free condition. The pressure drop (Δp) across the sand-pack and the nanoparticles breakthrough were closely monitored. The fluid injection rate, gas fraction, and the effect of MWCNT on foams in porous media were investigated.

Our results reveal that foams stabilized by the selected nanoparticles are capable of generating stronger foams leading to higher apparent Δp. The Δp profile varies with gas fraction, which largely affects the foam texture and quality. Also, the viscosity of foaming agent solutions influences Δp values. Adding MWCNT to the foaming agent solutions appears beneficial to the flooding as surfactants adsorption onto nanoparticle surfaces, which facilitates surfactants partitioning to the G/L interface.

Addition of nanoparticles in the developed foam formulations leads to the formation of high-quality stronger foams in porous media, which could potentially improve the sweep efficiency and increase the oil recovery.  相似文献

This study involved the utilization of a free radical-graft copolymerization reaction for the development of a novel adsorbent, namely, poly(butyl methacrylate)-grafted alginate/Fe3O4 nanocomposite (PBMA-gft-Alg/Fe3O4). Transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, X-ray diffraction patterns analysis, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) were carried out for the characterization of Fe3O4 NPs and PBMA-gft-Alg/Fe3O4 nanocomposites. The capability of nanocomposites and nanoparticles to adsorb dyes such as MG and MB, resulting in their removal from aqueous media, was evaluated under different conditions such as pH, temperature, contact time, and dose of adsorbent. Optimum parameters for adsorption of dyes were found to be pH of 10, 50°C, contact time of 180 min, and 0.2 g of adsorbent. Efficiency of the PBMA-gft-Alg/Fe3O4 nanocomposite was found to be significantly greater than that of Fe3O4 NPs for eliminating the desired dye. Langmuir, Freundlich, Sips, and Temkin models were used for testing the experimental data. Freundlich model was the one that best described the adsorption.  相似文献

In the present study, we successfully prepared two different electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) based-activated carbon nanofiber (ACNF) composites by incorporation of well-distributed Fe2O3 and Co3O4 nanoparticles (NPs). The influence of metal oxide on the structural, morphological, and textural properties of final composites was thoroughly investigated. The results showed that the morphological and textural properties could be easily tuned by changing the metal oxide NPs. Even though, the ACNF composites were not chemically activated by any activation agent, they presented relatively high surface areas (SBET) calculated by Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) equation as 212.21 and 185.12 m2/g for ACNF/Fe2O3 and ACNF/Co3O4 composites, respectively. Furthermore, the ACNF composites were utilized as candidate adsorbents for CO2 and CH4 adsorption. The ACNF/Fe2O3 and ACNF/Co3O4 composites resulted the highest CO2 adsorption capacities of 1.502 and 2.166 mmol/g at 0 °C, respectively, whereas the highest CH4 adsorption capacities were obtained to be 0.516 and 0.661 mmol/g at 0 °C by ACNF/Fe2O3 and ACNF/Co3O4 composites, respectively. The isosteric heats calculated lower than 80 kJ/mol showed that the adsorption processes of CO2 and CH4 were mainly dominated by physical adsorption for both ACNF composites. Our findings indicated that ACNF-metal oxide composites are useful materials for designing of CO2 and CH4 adsorption systems.  相似文献

Magnetic nanoparticles were used up to 3 % in the foam formulations and the samples prepared successfully. Thermal, mechanical, and magnetic properties of nanocomposites were studied and the results showed superior properties in comparison with pristine foams.  相似文献
