Recent advances in photocatalysis focus on the development of materials with hierarchical structure and on the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) phenomenon exhibited by metal nanoparticles (NPs). In this work, both are combined in a material where size‐controllable Ag‐NPs are uniformly loaded onto the hierarchical microporous and mesoporous and nanocolumnar structures of ZnO, resulting in Ag‐NP/ZnO nanocomposites. The embedded Ag‐NPs slightly decrease the hydrophobicity of fibrous ZnO, improve its wettability, and increase the absorption of formaldehyde (H2CO) onto the photocatalyst, all of this resulting in excellent photodegradation of formaldehyde in aqueous solution. Besides, we found that Ag‐NPs with optimal size not only accelerate the charge transfer to the surface of ZnO, but also strengthen the SPR effect in the intercolumnar channels of fibrous ZnO particles combining with high concentration of photo‐generated radical species. The micro‐to‐mesoporous ZnO is like a nanoarray packed Ag‐NPs. With Ag‐NPs of diameter 2.5 < ? < 6.5 nm, ZnO exhibits the most superior photodegradation rate constant value of 0.0239 min?1 with total formaldehyde removal of 97%. This work presents a new feasible approach involving highly sophisticated Ag‐NP/ZnO architecture combining the SPR effect and hierarchically ordered structures, which results in high photocatalytic activity for formaldehyde photodegradation.  相似文献

For years, nanotechnology has been considered as an important field that has opened new opportunities for extensive research. In biomedical applications, of all the metal nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles (Ag‐NPs) have played an important role because of their antibacterial properties. Ag‐NPs have been demonstrated to possess antibacterial properties in many applications. However, the minimum number of NPs required on the surface to prevent bacterial growth is yet to be determined. It is worthwhile studying the decrease of bacterial growth rate or the level of inhibition as a function of the size or density of NPs. Therefore, in this paper we discuss the size of the NPs that can stimulate the bactericidal property. It should also be noted that NPs larger than 100 nm might not be effective against bacteria. Moreover, this study employs polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) and cellulose as reductants to form strong covalent bonds under UV light, which can help synthesize Ag‐NP/cotton nanocomposites. This type of nanocomposite displays high cell viability and improved antimicrobial activity. A fairly simple application involves the use of UV light to increase particle distribution and impart bactericidal property.  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (NPs) ranging in size from 40 to 100 nm were prepared in high yield by using an improved seed‐mediated method. The homogeneous Ag NPs were used as building blocks for 2D assembled Ag NP arrays by using an oil/water interface. A close‐packed 2D array of Ag NPs was fabricated by using packing molecules (3‐mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane) to control the interparticle spacing. The homogeneous 2D Ag NP array exhibited a strong quadrupolar cooperative plasmon mode resonance and a dipolar red‐shift relative to individual Ag NPs suspended in solution. A well‐arranged 2D Ag NP array was embedded in polydimethylsiloxane film and, with biaxial stretching to control the interparticle distance, concomitant variations of the quadrupolar and dipolar couplings were observed. As the interparticle distance increased, the intensity of the quadrupolar cooperative plasmon mode resonance decreased and dipolar coupling completely disappeared. The local electric field of the 2D Ag NP array was calculated by using finite difference time domain simulation and qualitatively showed agreement with the experimental measurements.  相似文献

In recent years, tremendous research efforts have been made towards developing metal–organic framework (MOF)‐based composites for photocatalytic applications. In this work, bipyramid‐like MIL‐125(Ti) frustum enwrapped with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) and dispersed silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) was fabricated using an efficient one‐pot self‐assembly and photoreduction strategy. The as‐obtained materials were characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X‐ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherms, and X‐ray photoelectron, ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflectance and photoluminescence spectroscopies. It is found that the as‐prepared Ag/rGO/MIL‐125(Ti) ternary hybrids have large surface area, microporous structure, enhanced visible light absorption and prolonged lifetime of charge carriers. Compared with pure MIL‐125(Ti) and its binary counterparts, the ternary composite exhibits more efficient photocatalytic performance for Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation from water under visible light irradiation. The photodegradation rate of RhB on Ag/rGO/MIL‐125(Ti) is 0.0644 min?1, which is 1.62 times higher than that of the pure MIL‐125(Ti). The improved photocatalytic performance is ascribed to the indirect dye photosensitization, the Ag NP localized surface plasmon resonance, the Ti3+–Ti4+ intervalence electron transfer and the synergistic effect among MIL‐125(Ti), Ag NPs and rGO. Ag NPs serve as an efficient ‘electron reservoir’ and rGO as an electron transporter and collector. Therefore, this work provides a new pathway into the design of MOF‐based composites for application in environmental and energy fields. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Color‐controlled spherical Ag nanoparticles (NPs) and nanorods, with features that originate from their particle sizes and morphologies, can be synthesized within the mesoporous structure of SBA‐15 by the rapid and uniform microwave (MW)‐assisted alcohol reduction method in the absence or presence of surface‐modifying organic ligands. The obtained several Ag catalysts exhibit different catalytic activities in the H2 production from ammonia borane (NH3BH3, AB) under dark conditions, and higher catalytic activity is observed by smaller yellow Ag NPs in spherical form. The catalytic activities are specifically enhanced under the light irradiation for all Ag catalysts. In particular, under light irradiation, the blue Ag nanorod shows a maximum enhancement of more than twice that observed in the dark. It should be noted that the order of increasing catalytic performance is in close agreement with the order of absorption intensity owing to the Ag localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) at irradiation light wavelength. Upon consideration of infrared thermal effect, wavelength dependence on catalytic activity, and effect of radical scavengers, it can be concluded that the dehydrogenation of AB is promoted by change of charge density of the Ag NP surface derived from LSPR. The LSPR‐enhanced catalytic activity can be further realized in the tandem reaction consisting of dehydrogenation of AB and hydrogenation of 4‐nitrophenol, in which a similar tendency in the enhancement of catalytic activity is observed.  相似文献

A facile three‐step co‐precipitation method is developed to synthesize graphitic carbon nanofibers (CNFs) decorated with ZnO nanoparticles (NPs). By interchanging intermediate steps of the reaction processes, two kinds of nanohybrids are fabricated with stark morphological and physicochemical differences. The morphologies differ because of the different chemical environments of the NP/nanocluster formation. The hybrid with larger and non‐uniform ZnO nanocluster size is formed in liquid phase and resulted in considerable interfacial defects that deteriorate the charge‐transfer properties. The hybrid with smaller and uniform ZnO NPs was formed in a dry solid phase and produced near‐defect‐free interfaces, leading to efficient charge transfer for superior photocatalytic performance. The results broaden the understanding of the anchoring/bonding mechanism in ZnO/CNF hybrid formation and may facilitate further development of more effective exfoliation strategies for the preparation of high‐performance composites/hybrids.  相似文献

How to extend ultraviolet photocatalysts to the visible‐light region is a key challenge for solar‐driven photocatalysis. Herein, we show that ultraviolet ZnO photocatalysts can present high visible‐light photocatalytic activity when combined with CuO quantum dots (QDs; <3 nm). Theoretical analysis demonstrates that the quantum size effect plays a key role in the photoactivity of the CuO/ZnO composite. For CuO QDs smaller than 3 nm, the separated charges could transfer from CuO QDs to the conduction bands of ZnO due to quantum splitting of the CuO energy level and phonon compensation for the difference in the conduction band minimum of CuO and ZnO; however, this process would not occur with the disappearance of the quantum size effect. Further structural analysis demonstrates that interfacial charge separation and transfer between ZnO and CuO dominate the photocatalytic processes instead of a single CuO or ZnO surface. Compared with ZnO? noble metal structures (e.g., ZnO? Ag or ZnO? Au), these ZnO? CuO QD composites present wider absorption bands, higher visible photocatalytic efficiencies, and lower costs.  相似文献

Ag nanoparticle (NP)‐decorated MIL‐125(Ti) microspheres (Ag@MIL‐125(Ti)) were firstly fabricated via a facile hydrothermal and following photo‐reduction method. The photocatalysts were characterized using X‐ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopies, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy and UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The characterization results indicated that Ag NPs were dispersed on the surface of MIL‐125(Ti) microspheres, and the Ag NPs had a uniform diameter of about 40 nm. The composites exhibited excellent visible‐light absorption, due to the modification with the Ag NPs. The photocatalytic activity for the visible‐light‐promoted degradation of Rhodamine B was improved through the optimization of the amount of Ag loaded as a co‐catalyst, this amount being determined as 3 wt%. Additionally, studies performed using radical scavengers indicated that O2? and e? served as the main reactive species. The catalyst can be reused at least five times without significant loss of its catalytic activity. Furthermore, a photocatalytic mechanism for degradation of organics over Ag@MIL‐125(Ti) is also proposed. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Improved charge extraction and wide spectral absorption promote power conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). The state‐of‐the‐art carbon‐based CsPbBr3 PSCs have an inferior power output capacity because of the large optical band gap of the perovskite film and the high energy barrier at perovskite/carbon interface. Herein, we use alkyl‐chain regulated quantum dots as hole‐conductors to reduce charge recombination. By precisely controlling alkyl‐chain length of ligands, a balance between the surface dipole induced charge coulomb repulsive force and quantum tunneling distance is achieved to maximize charge extraction. A fluorescent carbon electrode is used as a cathode to harvest the unabsorbed incident light and to emit fluorescent light at 516 nm for re‐absorption by the perovskite film. The optimized PSC free of encapsulation achieves a maximum power conversion efficiency up to 10.85 % with nearly unchanged photovoltaic performances under 80 %RH, 80 °C, or light irradiation in air.  相似文献

A conjugated polyelectrolyte poly(9,9‐bis(3′‐[(N,N‐dimethyl)‐N‐ethylammonium]‐propyl)‐2,7‐fluorene dibromide) (PFBr) with the feature of environmental friendliness and cheapness was successfully used in polymer solar cells (PSCs) as the cathode interfacial layer (CIL). And we successfully demonstrate that the PFBr can build interfacial dipoles at the CIL/cathode interfaces, leading to reduce cathode work functions and improve open‐circuit voltages, which decrease interfacial energy loss at the cathode. It not only improves the electron transfer efficiency but also inhibits the charge carrier recombination at the contact interface. Impedance spectra revealed that the optimal device with the smallest charge transport time constant of 2.83 microseconds was achieved under the concentration of 2 mg mL−1 of PFBr, which suggests efficient electron transport on the interface between the organic active layer and the indium tin oxide cathode. Moreover, as a consequence, the power conversion efficiency of the PSCs increases to 3.83% (with PFBr as CIL) from 1.89% (without any CIL), based on the poly(3‐hexylthiophene) and [6,6]‐phenyl C61‐butyric acid methyl ester bulk heterojunction active layer. Therefore, our observation can demonstrate PFBr is a prospective candidate as CIL for constructing low‐cost, large‐area, and flexible PSCs.  相似文献

A ZnO@reduced graphene oxide–poly(N‐vinylpyrrolidone) (ZnO@RGO‐PVP) nanocomposite, prepared by in situ growth of ZnO nanoparticles on PVP‐decorated RGO (RGO‐PVP) was developed as a cathode buffer layer for improving the performance of polymer solar cells (PSCs). PVP not only favors homogeneous distribution of the RGO through the strong π–π interactions between graphene and PVP molecules, but also acts as a stabilizer and bridge to control the in situ growth of sol–gel‐derived ZnO nanoparticles on the surface of the graphene. At the same time, RGO provides a conductive connection for independent dispersion of ZnO nanoparticles to form uniform nanoclusters with fewer domain boundaries and surface traps. Moreover, the LUMO level of ZnO is effectively improved by modification with RGO‐PVP. Compared to bare ZnO, a ZnO@RGO‐PVP cathode buffer layer substantially reduces the recombination of carriers, increases the electrical conductivity, and enhances electron extraction. Consequently, the power conversion efficiency of an inverted device based on thieno[3,4‐b]thiophene/benzodithiophene (PTB7):[6,6]‐phenyl C71‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) with ZnO@RGO‐PVP as cathode buffer layer was greatly improved to 7.5 % with improved long‐term stability. The results reveal that ZnO@RGO‐PVP is universally applicable as a cathode buffer layer for improving the performance of PSCs.  相似文献

The development of highly efficient and robust photocatalysts has attracted great attention for solving the global energy crisis and environmental problems. Herein, we describe the synthesis of a p–n heterostructured photocatalyst, consisting of ZnO nanorod arrays (NRAs) decorated with BiOI nanoplates (NPs), by a facile solvothermal method. The product thus obtained shows high photoelectrochemical water splitting performance and enhanced photoelectrocatalytic activity for pollutant degradation under visible light irradiation. The p‐type BiOI NPs, with a narrow band gap, not only act as a sensitizer to absorb visible light and promote electron transfer to the n‐type ZnO NRAs, but also increase the contact area with organic pollutants. Meanwhile, ZnO NRAs provide a fast electron‐transfer channel, thus resulting in efficient separation of photoinduced electron–hole pairs. Such a p–n heterojunction nanocomposite could serve as a novel and promising catalyst in energy and environmental applications.  相似文献

Fabrication, characterization, and properties of novel poly(benzimidazole‐amide)/functionalized ZnO nanocomposites (PBIA/APS‐ZnO NCs) were investigated. At first, an aromatic PBA containing 3 imidazole units per repeat unit was synthesized by direct polycondensation of 1,3‐bis(5‐carboxylic acid‐2‐benzimidazole)benzene (BCAB) with 5‐(2‐benzimidazole)‐1,3‐phenylenediamine (DAMI) with good yield as a polymeric matrix. The periphery of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) was modified with 3‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APS) to have a better dispersion NPs and enhancing interactions between nanoparticles and PBIA matrix. Different percentages of functionalized NPs (0, 4, 8, and 12 wt.%) were then embedded in PBA matrix through ultrasonic irradiation technique. Fourier transform infrared and thermo‐gravimetric analysis (TGA) confirmed that APS was successfully attached on the ZnO NP surface. The obtained NCs were characterized by means of Fourier transform infrared, X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and TGA. The TGA of the PBIA/APS‐ZnO NCs showed the enhancement in the thermal stability in comparison with the neat PBIA and that this increase is higher when the NP content increases. Scanning electron microscopy analyses of NCs revealed that the dispersion of APS‐ZnO NPs was uniformly done in the PBIA matrix.  相似文献

Among different metallic nanoparticles, sliver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) are one of the most essential and fascinating nanomaterials. Importantly, among the metal based nanoparticles, Ag NPs play a key role in various fields such as biomedicine, biosensors, catalysis, pharmaceuticals, nanoscience and nanotechnology, particularly in nanomedicine. A main concern about the chemical synthesis of Ag NPs is the production of hazardous chemicals and toxic wastes. To overcome this problem, many research studies have been carried out on the green synthesis of Ag NPs using green sources such as plant extracts, microorganisms and some biopolymers without formation of hazardous wastes. Among green sources, plants could be remarkably valuable to exploring the biosynthesis of Ag NPs. In this review, the green synthesis of Ag‐based nanocatalysts such as Ag NPs, AgPd NPs, Au?Ag NPs, Ag/AgPd NPs, Ag/Cu NPs, Ag@AgCl NPs, Au?Ag@AgCl nanocomposite, Ag?Cr‐AC nanocomposite and Ag NPs immobilized on various supports such as Natrolite zeolite, bone, ZnO, seashell, hazelnut shell, almond shell, SnO2, perlite, ZrO2, TiO2, α‐Al2O3, CeO2, reduced graphene oxide (rGO), h‐Fe2O3@SiO2, and Fe3O4 using numerous plant extracts as reducing and stabilizing agents in the absence of hazardous surfactant and capping agents has been focused. This work describes the state of the art and future challenges in the biosynthesis of Ag‐based nanocatalysts. The fact about the application of living plants in metal nanoparticle (MNPs) industry is that it is a more economical and efficient biosynthesis biosynthetic procedure. In addition, the catalytic activities of the synthesized, Ag‐based recyclable nanocatalysts using various plant extracts in several chemical reactions such as oxidation, reduction, coupling, cycloaddition, cyanation, epoxidation, hydration, degradation and hydrogenation reactions have bben extensively discussed.  相似文献

Hollow SiO2/TiO2 nanoparticles decorated with Ag nanoparticles (NPs) of controlled size (Ag@HNPs) were fabricated in order to enhance visible‐light absorption and improve light scattering in dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). They exhibited localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) and the LSPR effects were significantly influenced by the size of the Ag NPs. The absorption peak of the LSPR band dramatically increased with increasing Ag NP size. The LSPR of the large Ag NPs mainly increased the light absorption at short wavelengths, whereas the scattering from the SiO2/TiO2 HNPs improved the light absorption at long wavelengths. This enabled the working electrode to use the full solar spectrum. Furthermore, the SiO2 layer thickness was adjusted to maximize the LSPR from the Ag NPs and avoid corrosion of the Ag NPs by the electrolyte. Importantly, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) increased from 7.1 % with purely TiO2‐based DSSCs to 8.1 % with HNP‐based DSSCs, which is an approximately 12 % enhancement and can be attributed to greater light scattering. Furthermore, the PCEs of Ag@HNP‐based DSSCs were 11 % higher (8.1 vs. 9.0 %) than the bare‐HNP‐based DSSCs, which can be attributed to LSPR. Together, the PCE of Ag@HNP‐based DSSCs improved by a total of 27 %, from 7.1 to 9.0 %, due to these two effects. This comparative research will offer guidance in the design of multifunctional nanomaterials and the optimization of solar‐cell performance.  相似文献

Poly(N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide–4‐vinylpyridine) (P(MBA‐4VP)) nanowires loaded with silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) have been fabricated by silver metallogel template copolymerization, and subsequently, silver ions are reduced instead of the template being removed. Ag NPs with a diameter of 5–15 nm were dispersed throughout the core of P(MBA‐4VP) nanowires. The size and distribution of the formed Ag NPs could be finely controlled by reduction time. The pH sensitivity of P(MBA‐4VP) nanowires offers the possibility of Ag NP release from the nanowires under acidic conditions. The photocatalytic performance of the P(MBA‐4VP) nanowires loaded with Ag NPs was evaluated for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) under UV light irradiation. Their rate of degradation is dependent on the content and size of the Ag NPs, as well as the pH values of the MB solution. Moreover, the P(MBA‐4VP) nanowires loaded with Ag NPs exhibited high photostability, and the photocatalytic efficiency reduced by only 1.81 % after being used three times.  相似文献

Well-aligned zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods (NRs) arrays deposited with Ag nanoparticles (NPs) are prepared by a liquid phase epitaxial growth process followed by a reduction of Ag on the surface of the ZnO NRs. Transmission electron microscopy images show that most Ag NPs are deposited on the upper part of the ZnO NRs, and the overall optical absorption in the range of visible light can be enhanced due to the surface plasmon resonance of the Ag NPs. ZnO NRs with and without Ag NPs are used to assemble dye sensitized solar cells. Devices fabricated from the Ag NPs/ZnO NRs composite arrays exhibit a higher open voltage, short circuit current and fill factor than that fabricated from the bare ZnO NRs array, thus, the overall efficiency of the as-fabricated cell is increased from less than 0.5?% to 0.8?%. The main reason for the enhancement of the device performance may be ascribed to that the electron transfer back from ZnO to the dye and electrolyte is blocked by the Schottky barrier at the Ag/ZnO interface, resulting in a great increase of the electron density at the ZnO conduction band.  相似文献

The heterostructured Ag nanoparticles decorated Fe3O4 Glutathione (Fe3O4‐Glu‐Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized by sonicating glutathione (Glu) with magnetite and further surface immobilization of silver NPs on it. The ensuing magnetic nano catalyst is well characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The prepared Fe3O4‐Glu‐Ag nanoparticles have proved to be an efficient and recyclable nanocatalyst with low catalyst loading for the reduction of nitroarenes and heteronitroarenes to respective amines in the presence of NaBH4 using water as a green solvent which could be easily separated at the end of a reaction using an external magnet and can be recycled up to 5 runs without any significant loss in catalytic activity. Gram scale study for the reduction of 4‐NP has also being carried out successfully and it has been observed that this method can serve as an efficient protocol for reduction of nitroarenes on industrial level.  相似文献

The loading of noble‐metal nanoparticles (NMNPs) onto various carriers to obtain stable and highly efficient catalysts is currently an important strategy in the development of noble metal (NM)‐based catalytic reactions and their applications. We herein report a nanowire supramolecular assembly constructed from the surfactant‐encapsulating polyoxometalates (SEPs) CTAB‐PW12, which can act as new carriers for NMNPs. In this case, the Ag NPs are loaded onto the SEP nanowire assembly with a narrow size distribution from 5 to 20 nm in diameter; the average size is approximately 10 nm. The Ag NPs on the nanowire assemblies are well stabilized and the over agglomeration of Ag NPs is avoided owing to the existence of well‐arranged polyoxometalate (POM) units in the SEP assembly and the hydrophobic surfactant on the surface of the nanowire assembly. Furthermore, the loading amount of the Ag NPs can be adjusted by controlling the concentration of the AgNO3 aqueous solution. The resultant Ag/CTAB‐PW12 composite materials exhibit high activity and good stability for the catalytic reduction of 4‐nitrophenol (4‐NP) with NaBH4 in isopropanol/H2O solution. The NMNPs‐loaded SEP nanoassembly may represent a new composite catalyst system for application in NM‐based catalysis.  相似文献

This article reports on the peak shape analysis of X‐ray photoelectron spectra of gold‐silver core‐shell (Au@Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) using an asymmetric Gaussian–Lorentzian mixed function. Unlike Ag NPs, Au@Ag NPs have no oxide peak and show asymmetric line shape with a high energy tail in Ag 3d core‐level spectra. A monotonic increase in the Ag 3d binding energy and a decrease in the degree of asymmetry with increasing the Ag shell thickness were observed supporting the occurrence of charge transfer from Au core to Ag shell.
