This work reports the fabrication of disposable three-electrode cells with integrated metal-film electrodes. The devices were fabricated by a multi-step micro-fabrication approach combining sputtering for the deposition of metals and the dielectric material (SiO2) on the surface of a silicon wafer and photolithography for the definition of the geometry of the sensors. The working electrode was a microelectrode array consisting of bismuth microdisks while the reference and counter electrode strips were made of Ag and Pt, respectively. The utility of these devices was tested for the trace determination of Pb(II) and Cd(II) by anodic stripping voltammetry and Ni(II) by adsorptive stripping voltammetry. The detection of these trace metals was carried out in unstirred and undeoxygenated solutions exhibiting sub-μg L−1 limits of detection and enhanced analytical characteristics compared to conventional bismuth-film electrodes.  相似文献

This work reports the trace determination of Tl(I) by square‐wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV) on novel microsensors equipped with a bismuth‐film electrode (BiFE). The sensors were fabricated by a multistep microfabrication approach combining sputtering (to deposit the electrode materialm, bismuth‐ and the insulator SiO2, on the surface of a silicon wafer) and photolithography (to define the geometry of the sensor). The effect of the preconcentration time, the preconcentration potential and the SW stripping parameters were investigated. Using the selected conditions, the 3σ limit of detection was 0.6 µg L?1 of Tl(I) at a preconcentration time of 240 s and the percent relative standard deviation was 4.3 % at the 10 µg L?1 level (n=8). In order to eliminate the interference caused by Pb(II) and Cd(II), EDTA was added in the sample solution The method was successfully applied to the determination of Tl(I) in a certified lake water sample. These new sensors exhibit excellent mechanical stability and offer wide scope as mercury‐free disposable sensors for trace metal analysis.  相似文献

This work is a study of the analytical utility of Nafion-modified microfabricated bismuth film electrodes (BiFEs) for the determination of Pb(II) and Cd(II) by anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) in the presence of surfactants. Micro-fabricated BiFEs were prepared by depositing a thin film of bismuth on the surface of a silicon substrate by sputtering while the two-dimensional geometry of the final sensors was defined by photolithography. The BiFEs were further drop-coated with a Nafion film. These devices were applied to the determination of Pb(II) and Cd(II) by square wave ASV (SWASV) in the presence of Triton X-100 (a non-ionic surfactant), cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) (a cationic surfactant) and sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) (an anionic surfactant). It was found that the presence of Nafion afforded an increase in sensitivity and the tolerance against surfactants but these properties were severely influenced by both the thickness of the Nafion film and the nature of the interfering surfactant. Using a Nafion of 0.4 μm thickness and 120 s of preconcentration, the repeatability (expressed as the % relative standard deviation on the same sensor (n = 8)) at the 20 μg l−1 level was 3.8% for Pb(II) and 3.1% for Cd(II) and the limits of detection were 0.5 μg l−1 for Cd(II) and Pb(II). The sensors were applied to Cd(II) and Pb(II) determination in a certified lake-water sample.  相似文献

A study is presented on the characterization, evaluation and optimization of several key operational parameters for a reliable and effective use of a bismuth film electrode (BiFE) as an advanced replacement of the mercury film electrode in anodic stripping voltammetric measurements of trace heavy metals. Applying in situ preparation of the BiFE and employing lead(II) and cadmium(II) as model analyte ions, key parameters including bismuth precursor salt and substrate surface (platinum, gold, glassy carbon, carbon paste, carbon fiber) for bismuth plating, concentration as well as cationic and anionic composition of the measurement solution, solution pH and temperature, potential interferents, and stripping modes were carefully examined for their effects in the preconcentration and stripping steps. Parameters such as substrate surface (except platinum), precursor salt, solution matrix and temperature showed no or little impact on the BiFE performance in stripping analysis. On the other hand, the BiFE performance was found to be dependent on the solution pH (with maximum efficiency in the range of 4 to 5), on the stripping mode (with square‐wave voltammetry as the best choice) and to a certain degree on the presence of surface active substances. The results revealed that the non‐toxic solid‐state BiFE is applicable under a wide variety of conditions which proves it highly suitable for practical work in environmental trace heavy metal analysis.  相似文献

To improve the reproducibility, stability, and sensitivity of bismuth film electrode (BiFE), we studied the performances of a mixed coating of two cation‐exchange polymers, Nafion (NA) and poly(sodium 4‐styrenesulfonate) (PSS), modified glassy carbon BiFE (GC/NA‐PSS/BiFE). The characteristics of GC/NA‐PSS/BiFE were investigated by scanning electron microscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Various parameters were studied in terms of their effect on the anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) signals. Under optimized conditions, the limits of detection were 71 ng L?1 for Cd(II) and 93 ng L?1 for Pb(II) with a 10 min preconcentration. The results exhibited that GC/NA‐PSS/BiFE can be a reproducible and robust tool for monitor of trace metals by ASV rapidly and environmentally friendly, even in the presence of surface‐active compounds.  相似文献

Multiwall carbon nanotubes were dispersed in Nafion (MWCNTs‐NA) solution and used in combination with bismuth (MWCNTs‐NA/Bi) for fabricating composite sensors to determine trace Pb(II) and Cd(II) by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV). The electrochemical properties of the MWCNTs‐NA/Bi composites film modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) were evaluated. The synergistic effect of MWCNTs and bismuth composite film was obtained for Pb(II) and Cd(II) detection with improved sensitivity and reproducibility. Linear calibration curves ranged from 0.05 to 100 μg/L for Pb(II) and 0.08 to 100 μg/L for Cd(II). The determination limits (S/N=3) were 25 ng/L for Pb and 40 ng/L for Cd, which compared favorably with previously reported methods in the area of electrochemical Pb(II) and Cd(II) detection. The MWCNTs‐NA/Bi composite film electrodes were successfully applied to determine Pb(II) and Cd(II) in real sample, and the results of the present method agreed well with those of atomic absorption spectroscopy.  相似文献

In this article, a study of novel screen-printed electrodes bulk-modified with five potential bismuth precursor compounds (bismuth citrate, bismuth titanate, bismuth oxide, bismuth aluminate and bismuth zirconate) is presented for the determination of Cd(II) and Pb(II) by anodic stripping voltammetry. During the electrolytic deposition step, the precursor was reduced and served as the source of bismuth. Different key parameters were investigated in detail such as the nature of the bismuth precursor compound, the precursor content in the carbon ink, the polarisation range of the sensors, the supporting electrolyte, the stripping waveform, the deposition time, the deposition potential and the long-term stability of the sensors under continuous use. Using bismuth citrate as the precursor, the limit of detection was 0.9 μg L−1 for Pb(II) and 1.1 μg L−1 for Cd(II). The reproducibility on the same sensor (expressed as % relative standard deviation, (n = 8)) was 5.4% for Pb(II) and 7.2% for Cd(II) at the 20 μg L−1 level. Finally, the sensors were applied to the determination of Cd(II) and Pb(II) in water samples.  相似文献

A study is presented on the use of the bismuth film electrode (BiFE) operated in the anodic stripping and the cathodic adsorptive stripping voltammetry (ASV, CAdSV) modes, for the determination of two trace heavy metals (Cd and Co, respectively), in soil extract samples. Two types of BiFE were examined in this study: the in situ prepared BiFE, which was employed in ASV determination of Cd, and the ex situ prepared BiFE, which was used in CAdSV of Co with dimethylglyoxime (DMG) as complexing agent. A series of unpretreated soil extracts with varying Cd and Co concentrations were analyzed, and the results obtained compared to those determined using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The results revealed the suitability of stripping analysis at the BiFE for determination of μg l−1 levels of heavy metals in soil extracts. The promising results obtained here, coupled with the non-toxic nature of bismuth (in comparison to commonly used mercury electrodes employed in stripping analysis), offer great promise in centralized and decentralized analysis of trace heavy metals in complex environmental matrices.  相似文献

The application of protective overoxidized poly‐1‐naphtylamine membrane (ONAP) is demonstrated in combination with bismuth film microelectrode (ONAP‐BiFME) for anodic stripping voltammetric measurement of trace heavy metals in the presence of some selected surfactants. The ONAP membrane was electrochemically deposited on the surface of bare single carbon fiber microelectrode followed by the in situ or ex situ preparation of the bismuth film. The key operational parameters influencing the stripping performance of the ONAP‐BiFME were optimized and its electroanalytical performance was examined in the model solution containing Cd(II) and Pb(II) as test metal ions. The ONAP‐BiFME exhibited significantly enhanced stripping voltammetric response (approximately 70% for Cd(II) and 45% for Pb(II)) in comparison with unmodified BiFME in the absence of surfactants. In the presence of high concentrations, e.g., 20 mg L?1, of anionic or cationic surfactants, the stripping signal for, e.g., Cd(II) decreased for less than 6% at the ONAP‐BiFME, whereas at the unmodified BiFME the signal attenuated considerably (approximately 38%). Moreover, in the presence of 10 mg L?1 of nonionic surfactant Triton X‐100, the stripping signals at the bare BiFME were almost completely suppressed, whereas at the ONAP‐BiFME exhibited linear concentration behavior in the examined concentration range from 10 to 120 μg L?1, with the calculated limit of detection of 5.0 μg L?1 and 3.4 μg L?1 for Cd(II) and Pb(II), respectively in connection with 60 s accumulation time. The attractive behavior of ONAP‐modified BiFME expands the applicability of bismuth‐based electrodes for measurement of trace heavy metals in real environments, where the presence of more complex matrix can be expected.  相似文献

Anodic stripping voltammetry combined with sequential injection analysis (ASV‐SIA) was selected to examine the use of bismuth‐ and antimony‐film plated glassy carbon electrodes under comparable conditions for the determination of Pb(II) and Cd(II) ions. Of interest were the conditions for film deposition, as well as the composition of sample/carrier solutions, including concentrations of Sb(III) or Bi(III) and HCl. Then, by the optimized procedure, one could determine Pb(II), Cd(II), and Zn(II) ions at the low µg L?1 level and ASV‐SIA configuration with both electrodes tested on analysis of a water sample.  相似文献

Abstract

A novel voltammetric method—anodic—using a bismuth/poly(aniline) film electrode has been developed for simultaneous measurement of Pb(II) and Cd(II) at low µg L?1 concentration levels by stripping voltammetry. The results confirmed that the bismuth/poly(aniline) film electrode offered high‐quality stripping performance compared with the bismuth film electrode. Well‐defined sharp stripping peaks were observed for Pb(II) and Cd(II), along with an extremely low baseline. The detection limits of Pb(II) and Cd(II) are 1.03 µg L?1 and 1.48 µg L?1, respectively. The bismuth/poly (aniline) electrode has been applied to the determination of Pb(II) in tap water samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

Bismuth film electrode (BiFE) is presented as a promising alternative to mercury electrodes for the simultaneous determination of trace cobalt and nickel in non-deoxygenated solutions. The preplated BiFE was employed under adsorptive stripping constant current chronopotentiometric and adsorptive stripping voltammetric conditions in the presence of dimethylglyoxime complexing agent. BiFE exhibited well-defined and undistorted signals with favorable overall resolution for cobalt and nickel cations, with the signals for both metal cations being practically independent of each other. The stripping performance of BiFE is characterized by good reproducibility (RSD 1.4% for Co(II), and 4.3% for Ni(II)), low detection limits of 0.08 μg l−1 for Co(II) and 0.26 μg l−1 for Ni(II) employing a deposition time of 60 s, in addition to good linearity. The non-toxic character of bismuth imparts the possibility of tailoring disposable and one-shot electrochemical sensors for decentralized environmental, clinical and industrial monitoring of trace cobalt and nickel.  相似文献

Voltammetric sensors based on bismuth film electrodes are an attractive alternative to other sensors for application in electroanalysis of heavy metals. Bismuth film electrodes can be formed by a similar method on the same substrates as mercury. These systems were used most frequently for simultaneous determination of heavy metals such as Pb, Cd and Zn by anodic stripping voltammetry. Our voltammetric sensor was fabricated on an alumina substrate. A photoresist film prepared by pyrolysis of positive photoresist S‐1813 SP15 on the alumina substrate was used as an electrode support for bismuth film deposition. The influence of the Nafion membrane on the measurement sensitivity of the sensor and mechanical stability of the bismuth film were investigated. The sensor was successfully applied for determination of Pb, Cd and Zn in an aqueous solution in the concentration range of 0.2 to 10 µg L?1 by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry on an in‐situ formed bismuth film electrode with Nafion‐coating. Parameters of the sensor such as sensitivity, linearity, detection limit, repeatability and life‐time were evaluated. In the best case, the detection limits were estimated as 0.07, 0.11 and 0.63 µg L?1 for Pb, Cd and Zn, respectively. Finally, the applicability of the sensor was tested in analysis of Pb, Cd and Zn in real samples of tap and river water using the method of standard additions.  相似文献

The synergistic use of Nafion polymeric membrane and in situ electrodeposited bismuth film is a worthwhile strategy to develop electrochemical sensors for the detection of Cd2+ and Pb2+. However, Nafion thin films morphological and conductivity properties have a strong dependence on the environmental conditions, such as relative humidity and temperature, while the bismuth in situ electroplating can affect the repeatability of measurements. With the aim to overcome these drawbacks, the effects of the storage environmental conditions were investigated to improve the morphological stability and electroanalytical performances of Nafion film‐based sensor for the detection of Cd2+ and Pb2+. Nafion‐coated graphite‐based screen‐printed electrodes were stored at different humidity and temperature conditions and characterised by using square wave anodic stripping voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. Significant differences were observed at the varying of humidity conditions, with an enhancement of sensor electrochemical performances at lower humidity. Furthermore, different approaches for bismuth in situ electrodeposition on Nafion‐coated screen‐printed electrodes were compared by using overlap or removal approach. This study disclosed considerable differences in the electrochemical performances and morphology of the resulting bismuth‐sensor, obtaining an enhancement of the working stability for the removal approach.  相似文献

Integrating the advantages of screen printing technology with the encouraging electroanalytical characteristic of metallic bismuth, we developed an ultrasensitive and disposable screen-printed bismuth electrode (SPBE) modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) for electrochemical stripping measurements. Metallic bismuth powders and MWCNTs were homogeneously mixed with graphite-carbon ink to mass-prepare screen-printed bismuth electrode doped with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (SPBE/MWCNT). The electroanalytical performance of the prepared SPBE/MWCNT was intensively evaluated by measuring trace Hg(II) with square-wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV). The results indicated that the SPBE modified with 2 wt% MWCNTs could offer a more sensitive response to trace Hg(II) than the bare SPBE. The stripping current obtained at SPBE/MWCNT was linear with Hg(II) concentration in the range from 0.2 to 40 μg/L (R(2) = 0.9976), with a detection limit of 0.09 μg/L (S/N = 3) under 180 s accumulation. The proposed "mercury-free" electrode, with extremely simple preparation and ultrahigh sensitivity, holds wide application prospects in both environmental and industrial monitoring.  相似文献

In this article a sensitive differential pulse stripping voltammetry technique on Nafion‐coated bismuth‐film electrode (NCBFE) was studied for the simultaneous determination of zinc, cadmium, and lead ions in blood samples at ultra trace levels. The measurement results were in excellent agreement with those obtained from atomic absorption spectroscopy. Various operational parameters were investigated and discussed in terms of their effect on the measurement signals. Under optimal conditions, calibration curves for the simultaneous determination of zinc, cadmium, and lead ions were achieved, based on three times the standard deviation of the baseline, the limits of detection were 0.09 μg L?1 for Cd(II), 0.13 μg L?1 for Pb(II), and 0.97 μg L?1 for Zn(II) respectively.  相似文献

Mercury-thin film electrodes coated with a thin film of poly(ester sulphonic acid) (PESA) have been investigated for application in the analysis of trace heavy metals by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry using the batch injection analysis (BIA) technique. Different polymer dispersion concentrations in water/acetone mixed solvent are investigated and are characterised by electrochemical impedance measurements on glassy carbon and on mercury film electrodes. The influence of electrolyte anion, acetate or nitrate, on polymer film properties is demonstrated, acetate buffer being shown to be preferable for stripping voltammetry applications. Although stripping currents are between 30 and 70% less at the coated than at bare mercury thin film electrodes, the influence of model surfactants on stripping response is shown to be very small. The effect of the composition of the modifier film dispersion on calibration plots is shown; however, detection limits of around 5 nM are found for all modified electrodes tested. This coated electrode is an alternative to Nafion-coated mercury thin film electrodes for the analysis of trace metals in complex matrices, particularly useful when there is a high concentration of non-ionic detergents.  相似文献

Hierarchical porous tubular biochar (PTBC) was prepared by selectively removing lignin simply according to reverse the pyrolysis sequence of cellulose. The properties of the PTBC sample were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, Raman spectra, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The electrochemical performances of PTBC modified on the screen-printing electrode illustrated excellent detection of lead ions (lead (II)) in water with the linear range (0.5–120 μg/L) and the detection limit (0.02 μg/L) by in-situ bismuth film square wave anode stripping voltammetry.  相似文献
