Four procedures based on closed-vessel microwave-assisted wet digestion with different oxidative reagents, including HNO3 (P1), HNO3 + H2O2 (P2), aqua regia (P3) and Lefort aqua regia (P4), for preparation of calcium (Ca)-rich materials prior to determination of total concentrations of Al, Ca, Cd, Fe, Mg and P by inductively coupled optical emission spectrometry (ICP OES) were compared. It was found that digestion with Lefort aqua regia (P4) provided the best results for all examined elements, i.e., precision of 0.30–4.4%, trueness better than 2%, recoveries of added elements between 99.5–101.9%, and limits of detection within 0.08–1.8 ng g−1. Reliability of this procedure was verified by analysis of relevant certified reference materials (CRMs), i.e., Natural Moroccan Phosphate Rock—Phosphorite (BCR-O32). Additionally, selection of appropriate analytical lines for measurements of element concentrations, linear dynamic ranges of calibration curves and matrix effects on the analyte response were extensively investigated. Finally, the selected procedure was successfully applied for routine analysis of other Ca-rich materials, i.e., CRMs such as NIST 1400 (Bone Ash), CTA-AC-1 (Apatite Concentrate Kola Peninsula) and NCS DC70308 (Carbonate Rock), and six natural samples, such as a dolomite, a phosphate rock, an enriched superphosphate fertilizer, pork bones, pork bones after incineration, and after steam gasification.  相似文献

Since 1983 we have analyzedaqua regia extracts from environmental reference materials of 5 different soils and 4 different sludges by neutron activation analysis. Aqua regia as such is not accepted for irradiation in a nuclear reactor, and therefore the solution has to be evaporated to dryness, mixed and dried to constant weight before an aliquot can be taken and subjected to instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA). Results for leachable Cr and Zn were found to display greater variability than results for total contents of these elements, and the reasons for this will be discussed.For the 1994 certification campaign for one soil and two sludges we have chosen to determine the total content of trace elements in these reference materials by INAA before and afteraqua regia leaching. The leachable contents are then found indirectly as a difference between the two results; in this way we eliminate the sources of uncertainty associated with the drying and handling of theaqua regia extracts, and we reduce the contributions from counting statistics.  相似文献

Various sludge samples from different domestic and industrial wastewater treatment plants were analyzed by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry to evaluate their total and available contents of heavy metals (Cu, Cr, Ni, Pb, Zn and Fe). The EDTA and acetic acid single extraction procedures were applied to these samples with the aim to study the leaching behaviour of the metals in the different sludges and also to predict their possible mobility when these wastes are disposed on the environment and landfills. In acidic medium, a higher extraction efficiency was observed for the major part of the elements studied in the industrial sludges, except for Ni and Zn, which were also considerably released from domestic sludges. In contrast, in the presence of the EDTA complexing ligand, a more elevated mobility of metals was found in the domestic sludges and little or no metals were released from the industrial sludges. Moreover, the results of the microwave total digestions were compared, for all metals, with those obtained using a more simplified pseudototal digestion procedure (based on the EPA Method 3051, named microwave assisted acid digestion of sediments, sludges, soils and oils) and a good agreement was found between them, except for Cr and Ni in some particular samples. The between-batch precision (expressed as RSD) of both compared digestion methods was very similar and values lower than 7.7% were obtained in both cases. A certified domestic sludge material (SRM 2781) was employed to validate the two digestion procedures and no significant differences were found between the certified and experimental values for all the elements studied.  相似文献

Sample preparation procedures for the determination of As, Sb, and Se in carrot-fruit juice by hydride generation inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (HG-ICP OES) were examined. The applicability of a partial decomposition using aqua regia and simple dilution with a 2% (v/v) HNO3 solution were tested and compared to a traditional treatment based on the wet digestion with a HNO3/H2O2 mixture. The pre-reduction and hydride generation reaction conditions were evaluated. Under the optimal conditions, the hydrides were produced in the reaction of an acidified sample with NaBH4 after pre-reduction with ascorbic acid [0.5% (m/v)] and KI [0.5% (m/v)] in 3 mol L?1 HCl for total As and Sb, and boiling with HCl (6 mol L?1) for total Se. The best results were obtained for the aqua regia procedure, resulting in limits of detection (LODs) between 1.2–2.4 ng g?1 in the samples and recoveries from 90.9% to 109.1%. The method was successfully applied (without matrix effects) for the determination of As in dense mousse and pulp juice samples and for Sb in pulp juices. Standard solutions, processed in the same way as samples, were used for the calibration. Undecomposed matrix constituents strongly influenced Se; hence this element was determined using the method of standard addition. Concentrations of studied elements in analyzed products were at the trace level, that is, 6–32 ng g?1, 4–10 ng g?1, and 4–13 ng g?1 for Se, As, and Sb, respectively.  相似文献

This study aimed to develop a precise and accurate method of sample preparation of Auricularia auricula for inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry-based trace element determination and to compare concentrations of seven trace elements (Mg, Fe, Mn, Zn, Ni, Cr, Sr) in six A. auricula samples belonging to three varieties with two cultivation substrates. Five sample preparation procedures, microwave-assisted digestion, nitric acid digestion with hot plate heating, nitric acid and perchloric acid digestion with hot plate heating, nitric acid digestion with ash content, and aqua regia digestion with ash content, were compared. The performance of the procedures was determined based on the precision and accuracy of the results and the limits of detection of the elements. The best results, with limits of detection of 0.60–6.60?ng?·?mL?1 and recoveries for spiked samples between 93.80 and 105.00%, were found using nitric acid digestion with ash content. Six A. auricula samples were analyzed using the proposed procedure. Among the tested elements, the concentration of Fe was highest in all six A. auricula samples up to a maximum concentration of 284.83?µg?·?g?1. The concentrations of Mn, Cu, and Ni increased in mixed stands (basswood, birch, and mongolica) compared with pine sawdust cultivation.  相似文献

The 3051 USEPA method (or alternatively, the 3051A) can be considered nowadays as a reference method to extract metals from sediments. However, after microwave heating, the sample must be allowed to cool down, which results in a considerable lengthening of the whole analytical process. Microwave ovens and their maintenance are, in addition, expensive, and its use is relatively dangerous. The use of ultrasound focused energy to assist the extraction of chemicals from solid samples is a safe and relatively cheap technique. In this work we propose a new method to extract simultaneously several elements from sediments using ultrasound energy focused in a glass probe to accelerate the process, and check its possibilities to become an alternative to the EPA3051(A) approach. The optimised procedure allows extracting 13 elements in only 6 min, with similar recoveries and, in general, better repetitivities than the EPA3051. In addition, the suspension is only slightly heated during the leaching process.  相似文献

A set of certified reference materials of four natural soils denoted as CRM 7001-4 was prepared. They consist of light sandy soils with normal and elevated, silty clay loam with normal, and loam with elevated element levels. Certified and/or information values were established for the total contents of the elements As, Ba, Be, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, V, Zn, and their fractions, extractable with aqua regia, and boiling and cold 2 mol L–1 nitric acid, from results of a 28 laboratory intercomparison using various methods of atomic absorption spectrometry, optical emission spectrometry, mass spectrometry, electrochemical methods, spectrophotometry, instrumental neutron activation analysis, and X-ray fluorescence.  相似文献

Semiquantitative analysis with accuracy of ±30 to 50% is a valuable tool for rapid screening of samples prior to quantitative determination of trace metals. In this study semiquantitative analysis software available with commercial inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) instrumentation is applied for rapid multielemental analysis, and the accuracy and precision of this semiquantitative analysis approach is evaluated with biological certified reference materials. Samples were prepared by high-pressure, high-temperature nitric acid vapor-phase digestion. For most elements the measured semiquantitative results are in the range of the certified values. With appropriate analyte solution dilution, the measured concentrations of the major elements (e.g., Ca) also agree with certified values. The accuracy is within ±10% for 28 element determinations that include 16 individual elements (Ag, As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Rb, Sb, Sr, Tl, and Zn) and ±20% for 54 element determinations that include three more elements (Mg, V, and U) in eight certified reference materials including water. Five different slurry preparation procedures were tested, after grinding the solid samples to a particle size ≤53 μm: (1) using aqua regia plus HF, 30 min of sonication, standing time of 24 h followed by another 30 min of sonication; (2) same as the previous one, except that the standing time and the second ultrasound treatment were omitted; (3) same as the previous one, except that HF was not used; (4) same as the previous one, except that the aqua regia was replaced by nitric acid; (5) same as the previous one, except that the acid nitric was replaced by tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH). The Hg vapor was generated on-line, and the emission signal intensity measured at 253.652 nm by axial view inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry. Initially, four experimental conditions were optimized using a multivariate factorial analysis: the concentrations of HCl and of the reducing agent, NaBH4, used in the cold vapor generation, and two instrumental parameters, the plasma radiofrequency power and the carrier gas flow rate. The radiofrequency power was statistically significant, but limited to 1.2 kW for practical reasons. The procedures were applied to 11 biological and environmental materials. Both, the slurries and the filtrates were analyzed, using calibration solutions in the same medium as in the slurries. The first three procedures produced results in agreement with the certified values. The two last procedures, using nitric acid or TMHA could not be used for quantitative analysis. For practical reasons, Procedure 3, with a detection limit (3s, n=10) of 0.06 μg g−1 for a sample mass of 20 mg in a final volume of 15 mL is recommended. The relative standard deviations for mercury in the investigated materials, using the recommended procedure, were lower than 12.5%, indicating a good precision for slurry sampling. A set of certified Reference Materials was prepared consisting of four natural agricultural soils with normal (n) and elevated (e) levels of element contents: CRM 7001 Light Sandy Soil (n), CRM 7002 Light Sandy Soil (e), CRM 7003 Silty Clay Loam (n), and CRM 7004 Loam (e). In these materials, certified and/or information values of the total contents of the elements As, Ba, Be, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, V and Zn, and their fractions extractable by aqua regia, boiling and cold 2M nitric acid were derived from an interlaboratory comparison in which 28 laboratories participated. Highly precise and accurate procedures of instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA) were employed for homogeneity testing and also for certification of the total element contents. For comparation purposes, NIST SRM-2704 Buffalo River Sediment was analyzed by INAA, as well. The INAA results obtained compared very well with the certified and/or information values for four soil CRMs and also with NIST values for SRM-2704. From this agreement, a very high reliability of the new soil CRMs can be inferred.  相似文献

When tin is to be determined in such a complex matrix like aqua regia extracts of environmental samples by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS), spectral interferences occur when deuterium-lamp (D2) background correction is used, even using high pyrolysis temperature of 1400 °C achieved with palladium with citric acid chemical modifier. We have found that the further addition of NH4F to palladium with citric acid chemical modifier is essential for overcoming the above-mentioned problems for which aluminium oxide is most probably responsible. It is supposed, that NH4F enables volatilization of the alumina matrix formed by hydrolysis from the chloride salt and interfering in a gas phase via the formation of AlF3 which could be, in contrast to aluminium oxide, removed from the graphite furnace during the pyrolysis stage. Using the proposed chemical modifier, the direct and accurate determination of Sn in aqua regia extracts from rocks, soils and sediments is possible even when using matrix free standard solutions. This presumption was confirmed by the analysis of certified reference samples and by the comparison with inductively coupled plasma time of flight mass spectrometry (ICP-TOFMS) method. Characteristic mass and LOD value for the original sample (10-μL aliquots of sample) was 17 pg and 0.055 μg g−1, respectively.  相似文献

Single-step microwave digestion methods using four different acidic dissolving reagents were investigated with the main objective to obtain a simple, rapid method for multi-elemental analysis of marine sediment samples by high resolution inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (HRICP-MS), especially for environmental studies. Closed-vessels microwave digestion procedures were carried out using the reagents as follows: HNO3, mixture of HNO3-HCl (φ r = 9: 1), aqua regia, and mixture of HNO3-HCl-HF (φ r = 8: 1: 1). The elements analyzed were: Al, As, Ba, Be, Bi, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, K, Li, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sn, Sr, Ti, Tl, V, and Zn. Good recoveries were established for many of the metals analyzed even when only nitric acid was employed. However, for a good recovery of Sb and Tl, aqua regia should be employed.  相似文献

A simple and rapid method is described for the quantitative extraction and determination of Cd and Pb in mussel tissue (Mytilus edulis). The method is based on the quantitative ultrasound-assisted extraction (i.e. sample mass at mg level) of the two metals using diluted nitric acid as extractant. The extraction procedure is carried out in autosampler cups of the graphite furnace (typically, less than 20 mg). A two-level full factorial design (24) was applied to optimize the variables influencing the ultrasound extraction process. These variables were: extraction time, ultrasound amplitude, nitric acid concentration and particle size. Optimization results showed that acid concentration and particle size were the more significant variables. Determination of Cd and Pb in extracts obtained after ultrasound treatment was carried out by Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometry. The method was validated by statistically comparing the metal contents found with the certified ones corresponding to the BCR 278 mussel tissue. No significant differences were observed for P = 0.05. LODs for Cd and Pb in mussel tissue were 0.019 and 0.37 μg g–1. RSDs values (corresponding to between-batch precision for n = 5) were 2.2 and 6.7% for Cd and Pb, respectively. The method was applied to measure the contents of Cd and Pb in mussels used as pollution bioindicators from the Galician coast (Ria de Vigo, Spain). Electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) has been used for lead control in waters and sediments of the wetland Tablas de Daimiel National Park. The lead determination in the wetland water is hindered by an enhanced salt content, so matrix interference was evaluated. The use of stabilized temperature platform atomization technique, Zeeman background correction and palladium nitrate as matrix modifier were found advisable. For the sediments a closed-vessel microwave dissolution method has been proposed using a mixture of HCl-HNO3-HF and a heating time of 90 s. With subsequent ETAAS using platform atomization and Zeeman background correction, no chemical modification was necessary. Using these conditions, the interferences were completely removed for both waters and sediments and the calibration curve in ultrapure water (1% nitric acid) was linear up to 30 μg/L. The detection limits for waters and sediments were 0.95 μg/L and 0.78 μg/g, respectively. The accuracy of the proposed method for sediments was validated by analyzing certified reference materials (obtained values were within the certified ones) and spiked wetland sediments (mean recovery of 99.0%). Rapid leaching procedures by Pressurized Liquid Extraction (PLE) have been developed for As, Cd, Cr, Ni and Pb leaching from environmental matrices (marine sediment and soil samples). The Pressurized Liquid Extraction is completed after 16 min. The released elements by acetic acid Pressurized Liquid Extraction have been evaluated by inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry. The optimum multi-element leaching conditions when using 5.0 ml stainless steel extraction cells, were: acetic acid concentration 8.0 M, extraction temperature 100 °C, pressure 1500 psi, static time 5 min, flush solvent 60%, two extraction steps and 0.50 g of diatomaceous earth as dispersing agent (diatomaceous earth mass/sample mass ratio of 2). Results have showed that high acetic acid concentrations and high extraction temperatures increase the metal leaching efficiency. Limits of detection (between 0.12 and 0.5 μg g− 1) and repeatability of the over-all procedure (around 6.0%) were assessed. Finally, accuracy was studied by analyzing PACS-2 (marine sediment), GBW-07409 (soil), IRANT-12-1-07 (cambisol soil) and IRANT-12-1-08 (luvisol soil) certified reference materials (CRMs). These certified reference materials offer certified concentrations ranges between 2.9 and 26.2 μg g− 1 for As, from 0.068 to 2.85 μg g− 1 for Cd, between 26.4 and 90.7 μg g− 1 for Cr, from 9.3 to 40.0 μg g− 1 for Ni and between 16.3 and 183.0 μg g− 1 for Pb. Recoveries after analysis were between 95.7 and 105.1% for As, 96.2% for Cd, 95.2 and 100.6% for Cr, 95.7 and 103% for Ni and 94.2 and 105.5% for Pb.  相似文献

The mixture of palladium (chloride) with citric acid and lithium is proposed as a new chemical modifier for the elimination of interference occurred during the determination of Tl in aqua regia extracts from rocks, soils and sediments by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry using instrumentation with deuterium-lamp background correction (D2-ETAAS). Palladium was preferred to rhodium and platinum as to analyte stabilization, citric acid served as an effective reducing agent facilitating formation of Pd-Tl stable covalent bonds playing an important role in the analyte stabilization. Citric acid in addition helps to remove most of interfering chloride at low temperature. The further addition of Li increased significantly the robustness of chemical modifier against strongly interfering ZnCl2 matrix by binding free chlorine into a more stable LiCl molecule. In the presence of the proposed chemical modifier the temperature for the final step of pyrolysis was adjustable up to 1000 °C, without any noticeable loss of volatile Tl species and the interference of the rest chloride matrix was significantly reduced. The application of the modifier to direct determination of Tl in aqua regia extracts from rocks, soils and sediments has ensured the characteristic mass and LOD value for the original sample 13 pg and 0.043 μg g−1, respectively (10-μL aliquots of sample) and has enabled the use of matrix-free standard solutions for attaining accurate analysis. The accuracy was verified by the analysis of certified reference samples and by the comparison of results with those found by an inductively coupled plasma orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight mass spectrometer (ICP-oa-TOFMS) method.  相似文献

The fly ash samples obtained from Kangal Power Plant were prepared for FAAS analysis by a new approach. The trace elements of the fly ash samples were leached with appropriate solvents under suitable conditions. The leaching method is known as an effective technique for substances dissolving very hard and refractory materials. The leaching effects of solvents and their mixtures were investigated on fly ash samples that are used largely in analysis of soil and sediment samples.The fly ashes mainly consist of glassy aluminosilicates. The major components of the samples are SiO2, Al2O3, CaO and Fe2O3. Therefore, decomposition of the silicate lattice of the fly ash is required for liberation of trace elements. The dissolution process can be completed by using a mineral acid such as concentrated HCl. This technique has an advantage that the fly ash can be dissolved without any oxidation at room temperature.Maximum element recoveries were obtained by the procedure of 37% HCl leaching after the samples were treated with 2.0 ml of concentrated HF. It was also observed that maximum mass loss occurred in this procedure. The effect of the four leaching reagents, which are HCl, HNO3, HClO4 and HNO3 + HClO4, were investigated on fly ash samples that were treated with concentrated HF. An optimum leaching method was determined based on the confidence of analytical results and element recovery rates.  相似文献

Three sets of samples have been investigated in some detail. One set is from a river polluted by mine workings, containing substantial levels of Fe, Mn,Cu, Zn and Ni with traces of many other metals. The second set consists of typical estuarine sediments contaminated from a wide range of industrial sources, and the third set consists of oily drilling cuttings from the sea bottom in the vicinity of a North Sea oil production platform.These samples have been subjected to treatment 1) with EDTA at two different pH's (extracts) 2) with HNO3/H2O2 3) with HNO3/HCl and 4) with HNO3/HCl/HF (digests). EDTA recoveries, compared toaqua regia digests, are often very reproducible, not dependent on pH, and usually significantly low. Nitric/peroxide andaqua regia digests often give very close results suggesting that these are meaningful values indicating the maximum levels of polluting metals in the sediments. However, the triple acid digest with HF does sometimes give higher values (and reasonable agreement for CRM's such as MESS-1) but with poorer reproducibility.  相似文献

The suitability of three different digestion procedures has been evaluated with regard to the quantitative determination of trace amounts of silver and cadmium in geological and environmental samples. Procedure A: extraction with aqua regia in an open vessel system; Procedure B: extraction with aqua regia in a closed pressurized vessel system; Procedure C: digestion with HF + HNO3 in a closed pressurized vessel system. It was found that procedure A represented an effective way of extracting analytes from different types of geological samples while the effect of extracting interfering metals is low. Because it is interference-free, poses a low risk of contamination and is time-saving, sample treatment procedure A was preferred. For this digestion procedure, a series of Chinese geological reference materials was determined by ICP-MS, the results of which were found to be in reasonable agreement with the certified values.  相似文献
