This paper deals with the dynamic response of nonlinear elastic structure subjected to random hydrodynamic forces and parametric excitation using a first- and second-order stochastic averaging method. The governing equation of motion is derived by using Hamilton's principle, taking into account inertia and curvature nonlinearities and work done due to hydrodynamic forces. Within the framework of first-order stochastic averaging, the system response statistics and stability boundaries are obtained. Unfortunately, the effects of nonlinear inertia and curvature are not reflected in the final results, since the contribution of these nonlinearities is lost during the averaging process. In the absence of hydrodynamic forces, the method fails to give bounded response statistics, and the analysis yields stability conditions. It is the second-order stochastic averaging which can capture the influence of stiffness and inertia nonlinearities that were lost in the first-order averaging process. The results of the second-order averaging are compared with those predicted by Gaussian and non-Gaussian closures and by Monte Carlo simulation. In the absence of parametric excitation, the non-Gaussian closure solutions are in good agreement with Monte Carlo simulation. On the other hand, in the absence of hydrodynamic forces, second-order averaging gives more reliable results in the neighborhood of stochastic bifurcation. However, under pure parametric random excitation, the stochastic averaging and Monte Carlo simulation predict the on-off intermittency phenomenon near bifurcation point, in addition to stochastic bifurcation in probability.  相似文献

A new phase-averaging method, denoted as Fourier averaging, is presented for the investigation of periodic flows. In such flows, the moments of velocity, as estimated from a small number of samples, show fluctuations in their phasewise development. In previous methods these fluctuations are reduced by calculating moments from large phase intervals. Fourier averaging, in contrast, neglects high-frequency fluctuations and assumes that they are of no physical relevance. This method supplies additional information on amplitudes and phase angles of discrete frequencies, which may then be used for visualizations of flow fields at any desired phase increment. The Fourier averaging method was verified empirically by LDA measurements and compared to other methods. Some considerations about the principles of the phase averaging method, often used to decompose a measured signal into mean and fluctuating parts, are presented for periodic flow configurations involving natural and forced unsteadiness. The order of procedure to theoretically determine the number N of cycles required to perform a correct phase averaging decomposition is discussed and a practical criterion is proposed. The use of this criterion is first illustrated in the case of ELDV measurements in and outside the boundary-layer on an airfoil oscillating in pitch at moderate conditions of unsteadiness. The principles of the phase averaging method are then extended to the case of PIV measurements and both theoretical and practical criterions are given. Examples of potential applications of the phase averaging method for quantitative PIV analyses on an airfoil oscillating through dynamic stall and submitted to strong conditions of unsteadiness are also presented. We formulate the method of averaging for perturbations of Euler's equations of rotational motion. Euler's equations are three strongly nonlinear coupled differential equations that can be viewed as a three dimensional oscillator. The method of averaging is used to determine the long-term influence of perturbation terms on the motion by averaging about the nominal rigid body motion. The treatment is applicable to a large class of motions including precession with large nutation – it is not restricted to small motions about simple spins or nearly axi-symmetric bodies. Three examples are shown that demonstrate the accuracy of the method's predictions.  相似文献

This paper deals with the averaging method which is the most useful technique for perturbation for a differential system. We show that in reality it is a reduction of the differential system, i.e. the initial system is replaced by a reduced system and a global connection between the two systems is emphasized. This connection is absolutely necessary in order to associate the solutions of the two systems in a structural way. In addition, this new approach (averaging as reduction) provides us with new reduced systems and the method of averaging is thus greatly extended.  相似文献

The averaged elastic constants of polycrystals can be found by averaging the stresses (Voigt method [1]) or the strains (Reuss method [2]). Comparison of the elastic moduli, averaged according to Voigt and Reuss, with the experimental values shows that in the first case averaging gives values that are too high, and in the second values that are too low [3]. The reason for this is that direct averaging of the moduli with respect to arbitrary orientations of the crystallites does not take account of correlation effects. 以凸肩叶片作为研究模型, 建立了考虑凸肩摩擦力, 几何大变形与阻尼的非线性振动方程.采用Galerkin法对振动方程离散化, 应用平均法对离散后模态方程组的非线性响应进行解析分析, 得到了非线性幅频特性曲线, 与数值解比较验证了解析解, 并讨论了系统周期解的稳定性. 用非线性振动理论详细研究了平均方程组的运动分岔现象, 揭示了平均方程组周期解的变化过程及其具有的非线性动力学性质. 解析结果表明, 凸肩之间的摩擦对系统第二阶非线性振动特性影响很大. 由于凸肩之间摩擦力方向的不断改变, 系统第二阶非线性幅频特性曲线不连续, 出现两个共振频域. 随着时间的推移, 系统振动的幅值会以$T/ 4$为周期在两个频域的幅频曲线上来回跳动, 这会使叶片的振动响应大幅降低.   相似文献

A stochastic averaging method of quasi integrable and resonant Hamiltonian systems under excitation of fractional Gaussian noise(fGn) with the Hurst index 1/2 H 1 is proposed. First, the definition and the basic property of f Gn and related fractional Brownian motion(fBm) are briefly introduced. Then, the averaged fractional stochastic differential equations(SDEs) for the first integrals and combinations of angle variables of the associated Hamiltonian systems are derived. The stationary probability density and statistics of the original systems are then obtained approximately by simulating the averaged SDEs numerically. An example is worked out to illustrate the proposed stochastic averaging method. It is shown that the results obtained by using the proposed stochastic averaging method and those from digital simulation of original system agree well.  相似文献

This paper summarizes a few cases of spacecraft orbital motion around asteroid for which averaging method can be applied, i.e., when central body rotates slowly, fast, and when a spacecraft is near to the resonant orbits between the spacecraft mean motion and the central body's rotation. Averaging conditions for these cases are given. As a major extension, a few classes of near resonant orbits are analyzed by the averaging method. Then some resulted conclusions of these averaging analyses are applied to understand the stabil- ity regions in a numerical experiment. Some stability conclu- sions are obtained. As a typical example, it is shown in detail that near circular 1 : 2 resonant orbit is always unstable.  相似文献

Stationary responses of nonlinearly coupled pitch and roll ship modes are studied using a modified averaging method, along with two second order multiple time scale (MTS) methods for comparison. Stability of the solutions is also studied. In the case of harmonic excitation all the three methods give fairly accurate results to the original problem but the averaging method is the most efficient. Analytic solutions are obtained from the averaged equations, which can be used to predict stationary responses both for small and for large excitations. From the averaging method several qualitatively different phenomena which cannot be addressed by the first order theory have been obtained: (i) the saturation phenomenon is lost, (ii) the bifurcation points are altered and (iii) a drift term is present which, although small, appears to have a significant effect on the accuracy of the solutions.  相似文献

The response probability density functions (PDFs) are formulated analytically by the stochastic averaging method. Meanwhile, the results are validated numerically. The influences of random disturbances on simultaneous resonances of nonlinear coupling systems are dealt with in this paper. First, the approximate probability distribution of behavior of nonlinear system is presented through using the stochastic averaging method. Secondly, using the Monte Carlo numerical simulation method, we study the above mentioned system. Both conclusions are nearly same. It is confirmed that the stochastic averaging method is one of efficient methods for dealing with nonlinear random vibration problems.  相似文献

Tryggvason's method computes two phase flows by smoothing the regions near the boundaries between the two fluids. This requires averaging of the fluid properties, which may differ by orders of magnitude and can lead to large errors. Traditional linear averaging produces a first order error that can be extremely large. In this paper, we show that for a number of simple test cases, averaging of the inverses of the properties can lead to a significant improvement in the quality of the results. This is the second of two articles intended to develop, apply and verify a new method for averaging the momentum and mass transport equations for turbulence. Part I presented the theoretical development of a new space-time filter (STF) averaging procedure. The new method, as well as all existing averaging procedures, are applied to the one-dimensional transient equations of momentum and scalar transport in a Burgers' flow field. Dense-grid ‘exact’ results from the unaveraged equations are presented to depict the dynamic behaviour of the flow field and serve as a basis for verifying the coarse-grid STF predictions. In this paper, a finite difference procedure is used to numerically solve the new STF averaged equations, as well as the other forms of the averaged equations derived in Part I. All averaged equations are solved on the same coarse grid. The velocity and scalar fields, predicted from each equation form, are intercompared according to a verification procedure based on the statistical and spectral properties of the results. It is found that the new STF procedure improves coarse-grid dynamic predictions over the existing methods of averaging.  相似文献

Consider a one-mass system with two degrees of freedom, non-linearly coupled, with parametric excitation in one direction. Assuming the internal resonance 1:2 and parametric resonance 1:2 we derive conditions for stability of the trivial solution by using both the harmonic balance method and the normal form method of averaging. If the trivial solution becomes unstable, a stable periodic solution may emerge, there are also cases where the trivial solution is stable and co-exists with a stable periodic solution; if both the trivial solution and the periodic solution(s) are unstable, we find an attracting torus with large amplitudes by a Neimark-Sacker bifurcation. The results of the harmonic balance method and averaging are compared, as well as the results on the Neimark-Sacker bifurcation obtained by the numerical software package CONTENT and by averaging. The method of multiple scales and the related method of averaging are commonly used tostudy slowly modulated oscillations. If the system of interest is a slightlyperturbed harmonic oscillator, then these techniques can be applied easily. If the unperturbed system is strongly nonlinear (though possiblyconservative), then these methods can run into difficulties due to the impossibilityof carrying out required analytical operations in closed form.In this paper, we abandon the requirement of closed form analyticaltreatment at all stages. Instead, Galerkin projections are used toobtain approximate realizations of the method of multiple scales. Thispaper adapts recent work using similar ideas for approximaterealizations of the method of averaging. A key contribution of thepresent work is in the systematic identification and removal of secularterms in the general nonlinear case, a procedure that is more difficultthan for the perturbed harmonic oscillator case, and that is unnecessaryfor averaging.A strength of the present work is that the heuristics (Galerkin)and asymptotics (multiple scales) are kept distinct,leaving room for systematic refinement of the formerwithout compromising the asymptotic features of the latter.  相似文献
