By using the well-developed integral transform methodology, the dynamic response of stress and electric displacement around a finite crack in an infinite piezoelectric strip are investigated under arbitrary dynamic anti-plane loads. The dynamic stress intensity factors and electric displacement are obtained analytically. It is shown that the dynamic crack-tip stress and electric field still have a square-root singularity. Numerical computations for the dynamic stress intensity factor show that the electric load has a significant influence on the dynamic response of stress field. The higher the ratio of the crack length to the width of the strip, the higher the peak value of the dynamic stress intensity factor is. On the other hand, the dynamic response of the electric field is determined solely by the applied electric load. The electric field will promote or retard the propagation of the crack depending on the time elapse since the application of the external electro-mechanical loads. The paper presents a fracture analysis for an electromagnetically dielectric crack in a functionally graded magnetoelectroelastic strip. It is considered that the material properties are varying exponentially along the width direction. Under the assumption of the in-plane magneto-electro-mechanical loadings, the dielectric crack is simulated by using the semi-permeable crack-face boundary conditions. The Fourier transform technique is applied to solve the boundary-value problem and four coupling singular integral equations are determined. A nonlinear system of algebraic equations is further derived and solved numerically to determine the electromagnetic field inside the crack. Then the field intensity factors of stress, electric displacement, and magnetic induction are given. Through the numerical computations, the effects of the material non-homogeneity and the permeability of crack interior on the electric displacement and the magnetic induction at the crack faces are studied. The variations of the intensity factors of stress, electric displacement, and magnetic induction versus the geometry of the crack, the strip width, and the material non-homogeneity are presented in graphics respectively.  相似文献

The mechanical model was established for the anti-plane dynamic fracture problem for two collinear cracks on the two sides of and perpendicular to a weak-discontinuous interface between two materials with smoothly graded elastic properties, as opposed to a sharp interface with discontinuously changing elastic properties. The problem was reduced as a system of Cauchy singular integral equations of the first kind by Laplace and Fourier integral transforms. The integral equations were solved by Erdogan's collocation method and the dynamic stress intensity factors in the time domain were obtained through Laplace numerical inversion proposed by Miller and Guy. The influences of geometrical and physical parameters on the dynamic stress intensity factors were illustrated and discussed, based on which some conclusions were drawn: (a) to increase the thickness of the FGM strip on either side of the interface will be beneficial to reducing the DSIF of a crack perpendicular to a bi-FGM interface and embedded at the center of one of the FGM strips; (b) To increase the rigidity of the FGM strip where the crack is located will increase the DSIF. However, when the material in one side of the interface is more rigid, the DSIF of the interface-perpendicular embedded crack in the other side will be reduced; (c) To decrease the weak-discontinuity of a bi-FGM interface will not necessarily reduce the stress intensity factor of a crack perpendicular to it, which is different from the case of interfacial crack; (d) For two collinear cracks with equal half-length, when the distance between the two inner tips is less than about three times of the half-length, the interaction of them is intensified, however, when the distance is greater than this the interaction becomes weak.  相似文献

Mixed-mode fracture mechanics analysis of an embedded arbitrarily oriented crack in a two-dimensional functionally graded material using plane elasticity theory is considered. The material properties are assumed to vary exponentially in two planar directions. Then, employing Fourier integral transforms with singular integral equation technique, the problem is solved. The stress intensity factors (SIFs) at the crack tips are calculated under in-plane mechanical loads. Finally, the effects of crack orientation, material non-homogeneity, and other parameters are discussed on the value of SIF in mode I and mode II fracture.  相似文献

Summary A finite crack propagating at constant speed in a functionally graded piezoelectric strip (FGPS) bonded to a homogeneous piezoelectric strip is considered. It is assumed that the electroelastic material properties of the FGPS vary exponentially across the thickness of the strip, and that the bimaterial strip is under combined anti-plane mechanical shear and in-plane electrical loads. The analysis is conducted for the electrically unified crack boundary condition, which includes both the traditional permeable and the impermeable ones. By using the Fourier transform, the problem is reduced to the solution of Fredholm integral equations of the second kind. Numerical results for the stress intensity factor and the crack sliding displacement are presented to show the influences of the crack propagation speed, electric loads, FGPS gradation, crack length, electromechanical coupling coefficient, properties of the bonded homogeneous piezoelectric strip and crack location.

The transient response of two coplanar cracks in a piezoelectric ceramic under antiplane mechanical and inplane electric impacting loads is investigated in the present paper. Laplace and Fourier transforms are used to reduce the mixed boundary value problems to Cauchy-type singular integral equations in Laplace transform domain, which are solved numerically. The dynamic stress and electric displacement factors are obtained as the functions of time and geometry parameters. The present study shows that the presence of the dynamic electric field will impede or enhance the propagation of the crack in piezoelectric ceramics at different stages of the dynamic electromechanical load. Moreover, the electromechanical response is greatly affected by the ratio of the space of the cracks and the crack length.  相似文献

The special case of a crack under mode III conditions was treated, lying parallel to the edges of an infinite strip with finite width and with the shear modulus varying exponentially perpendicular to the edges. By using Fourier transforms the problem was formulated in terms of a singular integral equation. It was numerically solved by representing the unknown dislocation density by a truncated series of Chebyshev polynomials leading to a linear system of equations. The stress intensity factor (SIF) results were discussed with respect to the influences of different geometric parameters and the strength of the non-homogeneity. It was indicated that the SIF increases with the increase of the crack length and decreases with the increase of the rigidity of the material in the vicinity of crack. The SIF of narrow strip is very sensitive to the change of the non-homogeneity parameter and its variation is complicated. With the increase of the non-homogeneity parameter, the stress intensity factor may increase, decrease or keep constant, which is mainly determined by the strip width and the relative crack location. If the crack is located at the midline of the strip or if the strip is wide, the stress intensity factor is not sensitive to the material non-homogeneity parameter.  相似文献

The problem considered is a mode Ⅲ crack lying parallel to the interface of an exponential-type functional graded material (FGM) strip bonded to a linear-type FGM substrate with infinite thickness. By applying the Fourier integral transform, the problem was reduced as a Cauchy singular integral equation with an unknown dislocation density function. The collocation method based on Chebyshev polynomials proposed by Erdogan and Gupta was used to solve the singular integral equation numerically. With the numerical solution, the effects of the geometrical and physical parameters on the stress intensity factor (SIF) were analyzed and the following conclusions were drawn: (a) The region affected by the interface or free surface varies with the material rigidity, and higher material rigidity will lead to bigger affected region. (b) The SIF of the crack in the affected region and parallel to the micro-discontinuous interface is lower than those of the weak discontinuous cases. Reducing the weak-discontinuity of the interface will be beneficial to decrease the SIF of the interface-parallel crack in the region affected by the interface. (c) The effect of the free surface on SIF is more remarkable than that of the interface, and the latter is still more notable than that of the material rigidity. When the effects of the interface and free surface are fixed, increase of the material rigidity will enhance the value of SIF.  相似文献

Arbitrarily oriented crack near interface in piezoelectric bimaterials is considered. After deriving the fundamental solution for an edge dislocation near the interface, the present problem can be expressed as a system of singular integral equations by modeling the crack as continuously distributed edge dislocations. In the paper, the dislocations are described by a density function defined on the crack line. By solving the singular integral equations numerically, the dislocation density function is determined. Then, the stress intensity factors (SIFs) and the electric displacement intensity factor (EDIF) at the crack tips are evaluated. Subsequently, the influences of the interface on crack tip SIFs, EDIF, and the mechanical strain energy release rate (MSERR) are investigated. The J-integral analysis in piezoelectric bimaterals is also performed. It is found that the path-independent of J1-integral and the path-dependent of J2-integral found in no-piezoelectric bimaterials are still valid in piezoelectric bimaterials.  相似文献

A cracked piezoelectric material strip under combining mechanical and electrical loads is considered. The crack is vertical to the top and bottom edges of the strip. The edges of the strip are parallel to the x-axis and perpendicular to the z-axis. When a piezoelectric ceramic is poled, it exhibits transversely isotropic behavior. Among many possible poled axis orientations, a particular orientation when the poling direction lies parallel to x-axis is examined in this paper. Both impermeable crack and permeable crack assumptions are considered. Numerical results are included for three kinds of fracture mechanics specimens, namely an edge-cracked strip, a double edge-cracked strip, and a center-cracked strip, subjected to uniform tensions and uniform electric displacement loads simultaneously, at the far ends. In addition, an edge-cracked strip under pure bending and uniform electric displacement loads at the far ends is also investigated in this paper.  相似文献

The dynamic response of a cracked piezoelectric ceramic under in-plane electric and anti-plane mechanical impact is investigated by the integral transform method. The electric and mechanical loads are assumed to be arbitrary functions of time. It is shown that the dynamic crack-tip stress and electric displacement fields still have a square-root singularity. Numerical computations for the dynamic stress intensity factor show that the electric load has a significant influence on the dynamic response of stress field. On the other hand, the dynamic response of the electric field is determined solely by the applied electric field. The electric field will promote or retard the propagation of the crack depending on the time elapsed since the application of the external electro-mechanical loads.  相似文献

The problem of a penny-shaped interface crack between a functionally graded piezoelectric layer and a homogeneous piezoelectric layer is investigated. The surfaces of the composite structure are subjected to both mechanical and electrical loads. The crack surfaces are assumed to be electrically impermeable. Integral transform method is employed to reduce the problem to a Fredholm integral equation of the second kind. The stress intensity factor, electric displacement intensity factor and energy release rate are derived, some typical numerical results are plotted graphically. The effects of electrical loads, material nonhomogeneity and crack configuration on the fracture behaviors of the cracked composite structure are analyzed in detail.  相似文献

The behavior of a penny shaped crack in a three-dimensional piezoelectric ceramic strip under non-axisymmetric in-plane normal mechanical and electrical loads is analyzed based on the continuous electric boundary conditions of the crack surface. The potential theory, Hankel transform and Fourier series are used to obtain the systems of dual integral equations, which are then expressed as Fredholm integral equations. The singular mechanical and electric fields and all mode-I field intensity factors are obtained, and the numerical values of various field intensity factors for PZT-6B piezoelectric ceramic are shown graphically for an uniform load and a pair of concentrated load, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, the plane elasticity problem of an arbitrarily oriented crack in a FGM layer bonded to a homogeneous half-plane is considered. The problem is modeled by assuming that the elastic properties of the FGM layer are exponential functions of the thickness coordinate and are continuous at the interface of the FGM layer and the half-plane.The Fourier transform technique is used to reduce the problem to the solution of a system of Cauchy-type singular integral equations, which are solved numerically. The stress intensity factors are computed for various crack orientations, crack locations and material parameters. The results show that crack length, crack orientation and the non-homogeneity parameter of the strip material have significant effect on the fracture of the FGM layer.  相似文献

The behavior of cracked linear magnetoelectroelastic solids is analysed by means of the dual Boundary Element Method (BEM) approach. Media possessing fully coupled piezoelectric, piezomagnetic and magnetoelectric effects are considered. An explicit 2-D Green’s function in terms of the extended Stroh formalism for magnetoelectroelastic full-plane under static loading is implemented. Hypersingular integrals arising in the traction boundary integral equations are computed through a regularization technique. Evaluation of fracture parameters directly from computed nodal values is discussed. The stress intensity factors (SIF), the electric displacement intensity factor (EDIF), the magnetic induction intensity factor (MIIF) as well as the mechanical strain energy release rate (MSERR) are evaluated for different crack configurations in both finite and infinite solids subjected to in-plane combined magnetic–electric–mechanical loading conditions. The accuracy of the boundary element solution is confirmed by comparison with selected analytical solutions in the literature. The new results that can be of interest in the design and maintenance of novel magnetoelectroelastic devices are also discussed.  相似文献

Anti-plane analysis of semi-infinite crack in piezoelectric strip   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Using the complex variable function method and the technique of the conformal mapping, the fracture problem of a semi-infinite crack in a piezoelectric strip is studied under the anti-plane shear stress and the in-plane electric load. The analytic solutions of the field intensity factors and the mechanical strain energy release rate are presented under the assumption that the surface of the crack is electrically impermeable. When the height of the strip tends to infinity, the analytic solutions of an infinitely large piezoelectric solid with a semi-infinite crack are obtained. Moreover, the present results can be reduced to the well-known solutions for a purely elastic material in the absence of the electric loading. In addition, numerical examples are given to show the influences of the loaded crack length, the height of the strip, and the applied mechanical/electric loads on the mechanical strain energy release rate.  相似文献

The purpose of the present work is to study the mixed mode fracture of a piezoelectric–piezomagnetic composite with two un-coaxial cracks parallel to the interface and each in a layer. Methods of generalized dislocation simulation, Green’s function, Cauchy singular integral equation and Lobatto–Chebyshev collocation are combined together to get the numerical results of mechanical strain energy release rate (MSERR). Three kinds of effects are revealed by parametric studies, i.e., the free-surface effect, the shielding effect and the interference effect, and they are used to interpret the characteristics of COD and MSERR curves. In addition, the effects of shear loading, magnetic loading and electric loading on MSERR are also disclosed, respectively, by varying the corresponding loading factor.  相似文献
