色散渐减光纤组成的环形镜对高阶孤子的理想压缩   总被引:6,自引:6,他引:0  
利用数值模拟方法证明,采用色散渐减光纤组成的非线性光纤环形镜不仅可压缩高阶光孤子,而且能有效地消除压缩后脉冲的底座、提高光脉冲的输出能量.研究表明,对于一确定的色散渐减光纤,只要选取不同环形镜长度,即可对不同阶数的高阶孤子进行理想压缩.且孤子阶数越高,所需最佳环形镜长度越短、压缩后光脉冲的峰值强度越大、能量透射率越低.研究同时发现,环形镜的功率分束比存在一最佳值,在此值下所得压缩后的光脉冲不仅具有较大的峰值及能量透射率,且不含底座.  相似文献

基于非线性光纤环镜(NOLM)的脉冲压缩特性,分析了NOLM在基于受激布里渊散射(SBS)慢光级联系统中对延迟脉冲的影响.利用环形结构来模拟多次级联,有效地降低了系统的复杂度,得到了在不同抽运光功率和级联次数下脉冲的延迟输出特性.理论分析表明,NOLM可以有效地抑制SBS慢光级联系统中延迟脉冲的展宽,抽运光功率决定了展宽因子的变化趋势及最终稳定值的大小,展宽因子在级联4次时趋于稳定值,恰当选取抽运光功率可实现脉冲的零展宽延迟;改变抽运光功率和级联次数可以实现延迟量的连续可调,且延迟量理论上不受限制;增大抽 关键词: 慢光 脉冲压缩 非线性光纤环镜 受激布里渊散射  相似文献

提出了利用一种高非线性微结构光纤构成非线性光纤环镜(NOLM)进行脉冲压缩和基座抑制的方案.所提出的微结构光纤具有高非线性系数和大反常色散.理论研究了基于这种微结构光纤的NOLM对脉冲的压缩效应,并分析了压缩的机制.数值结果表明,这种NOLM采用较短的光纤长度就能有效地压缩脉冲并明显抑制了基座.对于给定的输入脉冲,存在一个最优的环路长度,可以获得高质量的压缩脉冲.通过适当选择耦合比和环路长度,则可以完全消除脉冲的基座.  相似文献

基于非线性耦合薛定谔方程,在非线性偏振技术锁模的掺铒环形光纤激光器中,理论研究多孤子脉冲的形成和演化规律。研究结果表明:随着小信号增益不断增加,光纤激光器的锁模透过率函数影响多脉冲输出,多脉冲产生受色散波和脉冲分裂形成的峰值功率的限制效应和孤子能量量子化的影响,这是增益竞争和非线性偏振旋转引起的损耗之间动态平衡的最终结果。  相似文献

提出了一种利用非线性光纤环镜的开关特性将连续波同时转化为亮孤子和暗孤子的新方法 ,即让连续波和另一波长的调制脉冲串共同耦合入光纤环镜 ,交叉相位调制使得一部分连续波被环镜透射 ,其余部分被反射 ;再让透射波和反射波分别在反常色散光纤和正常色散光纤中传输 ,自相位调制和群速度色散之间的相互作用使得透射波和反射波分别演化为亮、暗孤子。数值计算表明 ,该方法不仅可产生脉宽比调制脉冲窄、重复频率比调制脉冲高的亮孤子和暗孤子 ,而且几乎可将全部的连续波能量转化为孤子能量。  相似文献

利用非线性放大环镜作为人工可饱和吸收体,在铥钬共掺光纤激光器中研究了多孤子脉冲现象.在同一泵浦功率不同偏振状态下,实验不仅获得了稳定的单个孤子脉冲,还观察到由单个孤子脉冲演化为2至4个孤子的锁模脉冲现象;在保偏光运行条件下增加泵浦功率,获得了孤子能量量化的演化过程.所得结果主要源于腔内弱的双折射效应等效的滤波器具有限制增益带宽和诱导多脉冲产生的作用.而调节偏振控制器对腔内增益的改变,是不同类型多脉冲现象出现的主要原因.研究结果对2μm波段非线性放大环镜光纤激光器多孤子锁模脉冲动力学特性的研究具有一定参考价值.  相似文献

基于耦合非线性薛定谔方程,采用分步傅里叶方法分析了在单波长信道和WDM(波分复用)4波长信道中XPM(交叉相位调制)对高速NOLM(非线性光纤环镜)光开关中脉冲传输的影响.数值计算表明:XPM造成NOLM中信号脉冲串扰与畸变,并造成NOLM开关性能的下降.WDM系统NOLM光纤环中的同向传播的各波长之间的XPM串扰比相向脉冲之间的XPM效应的影响更大,并且波长越短输出功率越低,中间信道受XPM的影响所导致的脉座现象和走离效应比两侧波长信道严重.  相似文献

用常规掺铒光纤放大器放大超短光孤子存在一个重大困难 ,就是在放大过程中光纤非线性效应会引起孤子波形及频谱畸变 ,使得输出脉冲不再具有孤子特性 ,从而影响系统性能。提出一种利用掺铒光纤环镜放大超短光孤子的新方法 ,数值计算表明 ,该方法不仅可实现无畸变的光孤子放大 ,而且能同时实现孤子宽度的有效压缩。当宽度为 2 ps的基阶孤子经过长度为 92 .6m、增益为 14 .4dB的环镜后 ,其峰值功率被放大 16 5倍 ,脉冲宽度被压缩到 0 .19ps ,时间带宽积为 0 .30 3,脉座能量仅占整个脉冲能量的 3.8% ,表明由环镜输出的放大脉冲很大程度上具有基阶孤子特性。  相似文献

We investigate theoretically the operation of a versatile nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) structure to be used in optical communication systems. The proposed device is a fibre Sagnac interferometer that includes a low-birefringence, highly twisted fibre and a quarter-wave plate retarder in the loop. We study, both analytically and numerically, the evolution of the intensity-dependent NOLM transmission for both output polarisation components, using different models for the NOLM. From this analysis, we propose an easy way to adjust the position of the NOLM maximum transmission, simply by tuning the angle of the retarder. This procedure is particularly useful for amplitude regularisation of an optical signal. We also demonstrate that, if a tuneable optical attenuator is inserted in the loop, the positions of both maximum and minimum transmission can be tuned separately, using a perfectly reproducible procedure. It is therefore possible to optimise the NOLM transmission for both pedestal and amplitude fluctuations removal in an optical pulse train. For a circular input polarisation, this procedure ensures the highest possible contrast between minimum and maximum transmission, and an output polarisation state that is linear and independent of the input power. Finally, we demonstrate that the transmission characteristic of this NOLM is robust to environmentally induced changes in the fibre birefringence. Thanks to its versatility, robustness and polarisation invariance, this device is thought to be of primary interest for applications such as passive mode locking, pulse compression and pedestal suppression, amplitude regularisation in harmonically mode-locked, rational-harmonically mode-locked or subharmonic synchronous mode-locked lasers, as well as damping of relaxation oscillations.  相似文献

A scheme to generate high speed optical pulse train with ultra short pulse width is proposed and experimentally studied. Two-step compression is used in the scheme: 20 GHz and 40 GHz pulse trains generated from a rational harmonic actively mode-locked fiber ring laser is compressed to a full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of ~ 1.5 ps using adiabatic soliton compression with dispersion shifted fibers (DSF). The pulse trains then undergo a pedestal removal process by transmission through a cascaded two photonic crystal fiber (PCF)-nonlinear optical loop mirrors (NOLM) realized using a double-ring structure. The shortest output pulse width obtained was ~ 610 fs for 20 GHz pulse train and ~ 570 fs for 40 GHz pulse train. The signal to noise ratio of the RF spectrum of the output pulse train is larger than 30 dB. Theoretical simulation of the NOLM transmission is conducted using split-step Fourier method. The results show that two cascaded NOLMs can improve the compression result compared to that for a single NOLM transmission.  相似文献

Highly nonlinear fibre (HNF) applied to a nonlinear optical fibre-loop mirror (NOLM) proves very effective for high quality femtosecond pulses shaping. The HNF exhibiting about four times larger nonlinearity than either dispersion flattened fibre or dispersion-shifted fibre excites higher-order soliton propagation enabling significant pulse compression, while shortening the loop length required for efficient switching, which advantageously reduces both the detrimental higher-order chromatic dispersion effects and sensitivity to environmental perturbations. A short NOLM consisting of a 60 m HNF demonstrates effective reshaping and compression of 254–394 fs pulses from a fibre-soliton compressed electro-absorption modulator source to produce pedestal-free and transform-limited 186–243 fs pulses over a wide wavelength (1550–1570 nm) and repetition-rate (6.8–18 GHz) range.  相似文献

We experimentally investigate the passive mode-locking operation of a figure eight-fiber laser based on a symmetrical nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) with a highly twisted low-birefringence fiber in the loop. NOLM switching is achieved by the polarization asymmetry between the counterpropagating beams in the loop. The most efficient switching is obtained when we have linear polarization for one of the beams and the circular polarization for the other. We used a quarter-wave retarder (QWR) in the NOLM loop to break the polarization symmetry. Through the QWR position, it is possible to adjust the transmission behavior from a maximum to a minimum at a low input power. With our configuration, it is possible to get self-starting mode-locking operation at a specific position of the QWR. This QWR position corresponds to a value close to the minimal transmission. The pulse repetition frequency was 0.8 MHz. The mode-locked laser ran in a stable operation for hours. We achieved a stable generation of picosecond pulses with milliwatts of an average output power.  相似文献

We performed a numerical study of the transmission through a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) of a sequence of solitons generated at the initial stage of the supercontinuum (SC) generation. We found that the NOLM exhibits a selective transmission that critically dependents on the amplitude of the input solitons and on the NOLM loop length. The results demonstrate that by properly selecting these parameters the NOLM behaves as an optically controlled switch that allows the transmission of solitons with similar amplitude and width. The results obtained by employing this method are reasonably good and can be used to analyze the soliton formation at the initial stage of SC generation.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate reduction of the polarization sensitivity of a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) from 5 to 0.5 dB by use of 550 m of twisted dispersion-shifted fiber with a twist rate of 8 turns/m (24 turns/beat length). The twisting of the fiber induces circular birefringence and equates the parallel-and the orthogonal-polarization nonlinear phase-shift terms. Experimental results show that the polarization sensitivity monotonically decreases from 5 dB for nontwisted fiber to 0.5 dB for fiber that is twisted at a rate of 8 turns/m, and the twist rate should be more than 4 turns/m (>10 turns/beat length) for emulation of circularly polarized fiber. The minimum polarization sensitivity occurs when the control-pulse polarization is aligned with one of the eigenmodes of the twisted fiber. With the fiber twisted at a rate of 8 turns/m in the NOLM, the nonlinear transmission is 23% at a switching energy of 4 pJ/pulse. Simulations confirm the observed behavior and show that the remaining polarization sensitivity results from energy transfer between orthogonal modes of the signal pulse.  相似文献
