We derive exact expressions for the evolution of the second order moment of the intensity distribution of an arbitrary beam propagating in a nonlinear Kerr medium with a quadratic index profile. The results can be recast in terms of theABCD matrix formalism after introducing a generalized complex radius of curvature,Q(z). Various definitions of the beam quality factor are introduced. 用分步傅里叶方法计算了高斯光束在克尔介质中的传输过程,采用最小均方根办法对光场进行二项式曲线拟合得到光束质量因子,计算结果表明:当B积分在2rad以内,克尔效应越强则它对因子影响越大;同时,它的这种影响能力也受到光束宽度和光束腰平面到克尔介质的距离的两个因素的影响,即光束越宽,影响越小,距离越大,影响反而较小;最后,基于B积分的可叠加性,提出用具有负非线性折射率系数的非线性介质来补偿正克尔效应、降低光束因子,并指出两端补偿是最优的方式之一.  相似文献

The problem of the electromagnetic wave reflection on the second optical harmonic from a semi-infinite optically isotropic magnetic medium is considered for the uniform magnetization direction corresponding to the polar Kerr effect. In the first approximation in magnetization, the method of Green’s tensor functions is used to derive expressions for the complex amplitudes of the wave fields for the incidence of s-and p-polarized waves (as well as of their superposition) on the medium. It is shown that, in the latter case, the nonlinear polar Kerr effect is of the intensity type. The dependences of the intensity effect on the angle of incidence of the inducing wave and on the angle of its polarization, which were obtained in numerical experiments, are presented. A comparative analysis of the linear and nonlinear intensity Kerr effects is carried out.  相似文献

An approximate analytical approach is presented for analyzing the evolution of the radial intensity profile of initially Gaussian laser beams propagating in nonlinear de-focusing Kerr media. Explicit and accurate solutions are obtained describing the first stage of the evolution of high intensity beams in which the beam profile evolves into an almost flat-topped distribution, subsequently leading to the well known phenomena of wave breaking and concomitant intensity ring formation.  相似文献

 利用菲涅尔-基尔霍夫衍射积分公式,对发散和会聚高斯光束通过薄非线性介质时形成的远场衍射图样进行了研究。模拟计算结果表明:当发散高斯光束通过自散焦介质或会聚高斯光束通过自聚焦介质时,远场均会出现中央较暗、向外围逐渐增强、分布尺度较大的粗衍射环;当发散高斯光束通过自聚焦介质或会聚高斯光束通过自散焦介质时,远场均会出现中心强度最大、向外围逐渐减弱、分布尺度较小的细衍射环。不同远场衍射图样归根结底是入射高斯光束因介质折射率变化造成的空间自相位调制及其波前曲率共同作用的结果。  相似文献

In the framework of nonlinear wave optics,we report the evolution process of a dipole breathing wave in lossy nonlocal nonlinear media based on the nonlocal nonlinear Schr?dinger equation.The analytical expression of the dipole breathing wave in such a nonlinear system is obtained by using the variational method.Taking advantage of the analytical expression,we analyze the influences of various physical parameters on the breathing wave propagation,including the propagation loss and the input power on the beam width,the beam intensity,and the wavefront curvature.Also,the corresponding analytical solutions are obtained.The validity of the analysis results is verified by numerical simulation.This study provides some new insights for investigating beam propagation in lossy nonlinear media.  相似文献

由光束在克尔型吸收介质中传输的非线性薛定谔方程,推导了高斯光束注入介质后满足的耦合方程,并分别在不考虑吸收和高阶展开项的情况下,对脉冲的腰斑半径的演化进行了理论分析。发现当注入脉冲满足一定的条件时,脉冲可以以“孤波”的形式传播。当考虑吸收和高阶展开项时,脉冲不存在“孤波”形式,且存在一个阈值,低于阈值的输入,脉冲发生自聚焦;对高于阈值的输入,腰斑半径随着距离的增加而增加,聚焦趋势根本就不存在。  相似文献

Owing to the enormously enhanced oscillating wave, a minute variation of the incident light intensity will give rise to a change in the dielectric constant of the Kerr nonlinear medium and lead to a bistable reflection with an ultra-low threshold intensity, which is closely related to the angle of incidence and the thickness of the Kerr nonlinear medium. The criterion for the existence of optical bistability is derived. Our bistability scheme is simple and not limited to the TM-polarization.  相似文献

In the frame of the eikonal-based complex geometrical optics, which describes the phase front and cross section of a light beam using the quadratic expansion of a complex-valued eikonal, we investigate the transverse deflections of a polarized Gaussian beam (GB) in a smoothly inhomogeneous isotropic medium, which is called the spin Hall effect of the beam. The linear complex-valued eikonal terms are introduced firstly to describe the polarization-dependent transverse shifts of the beam in the inhomogeneous medium. We find that the polarization-dependent transverse shifts of the beams include two parts: one originates from the coupling between the spin angular momentum and the extrinsic orbital angular momentum due to the curve trajectory of the center of gravity of the polarized GB, and the other from the coupling between the spin angular momentum and the intrinsic orbital angular momentum due to the rotation of the beam with respect to the central ray.  相似文献

We present results from a novel variational method for the study of beam propagation in a Kerr medium with nonlinear absorption. This new method combines the variational method and a nonlinear absorption equation and gives a concise expression for the combination. The results obtained with this method show good quantitative agreement with numerical solutions obtained with the finite-difference method. It is shown that the variational method takes much less time than a numerical simulation with the finite-difference method for analysis of beam propagation in a thick medium with nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction. The new method makes detailed analysis of beam propagation in a Kerr medium with nonlinear absorption very simple and fast.  相似文献

Three-dimensional dark spatial solitory waves of the TM type are found to exist in a uniform saturable self defocusing nonlinear medium only within a certain range of the beam effective index neff which may be wider or narrower compared with the corresponding one in the Kerr law medium, depending on nonlinear saturation index. This contrasts with the TE type, the existence of which in a saturable nonlinear medium is limited in the range of neff equal to or narrower than that in the Kerr law nonlinear medium. The physical mechanism behind the distinct contrast is also discussed.  相似文献

以衍射理论为基础,推导并模拟了高斯光束通过非线性折射和吸收效应介质后的远场光强分布。结果表明:入射高斯光束引起的介质折射率变化和光束波前曲率影响介质出射面光束的径向调制相位,安装在焦点前的有自聚焦效应的介质和安装在焦点后的有自散焦效应的介质具有闪耀光栅的能力,使远场出现中心为暗斑外侧为亮环的衍射图样。非线性折射效应为主的介质,其非线性吸收效应的变化同时改变远场衍射图样的数目和光强值,但对于非线性吸收效应为主的介质,衍射图样的数目随吸收效应的变化不明显,吸收效应只影响光强值。  相似文献

The evolution of relevant beam parameters of a light beam propagating through an iterated sequence of spherical lenses and Gaussian apertures immersed in an active medium is investigated. This structure is a classical model for an optical resonator. The effective size of the field distribution, the beam quality factor and the radius of wave front curvature are calculated as functions of the number of transits. Steady-state values of these parameters are also determined and the dependence of the results on the gain of the medium, the aperture width and the focal length is illustrated. A comparison with the case without active medium is also discussed.  相似文献

当高功率激光通过Kerr非线性介质传输时,Kerr效应会严重影响激光的传输特性.实际应用中常遇到像散光束.迄今为止,像散光束传输特性的研究大都局限于在线性介质中的传输,而在非线性介质中传输的研究较少,且还未涉及像散激光束通过含光学系统的Kerr非线性介质传输变换的研究.本文主要研究Kerr效应对聚焦光束像散特性和焦移特性的影响,以及聚焦像散高斯光束的自聚焦焦距和光束焦点调控.在光束扩展情况下,推导出了聚焦像散高斯光束在Kerr非线性介质中传输的束宽、束腰位置和焦移的解析公式,研究表明:在自聚焦介质中,随着自聚焦作用增强(如光束功率增强),光束像散越强,但焦移越小;在自散焦介质中,随着自散焦作用增强(如光束功率增强),光束像散越弱,但焦移越大.另一方面,在光束自聚焦情况下,推导出了自聚焦焦距的解析公式,研究表明利用光束像散可以调控光束焦点个数.  相似文献

The reflection of an electromagnetic wave at the second-harmonic frequency from a semi-infinite optically isotropic magnetic medium for the directions of uniform magnetization corresponding to the meridional and equatorial Kerr effects is considered. Using the Green’s tensor function technique, in the first approximation in magnetization, the expressions for complex amplitudes of the field are obtained for the s and p polarizations of the incident beam and their superpositions. It is shown that in the latter case, the meridional effect becomes intensity-related. Dependences of the intensity-related meridional and equatorial Kerr effects on the angle characterizing polarization of the pump wave are obtained by numerical calculations. 由光束在克尔型吸收介质中传输的非线性薛定谔方程出发,推导了高斯光束注入介质后满足的耦合方程。在不考虑高阶展开项的前提下,将介质分为无吸收、有吸收两种情况,对脉冲的腰斑半径的演化进行了解析分析,得到注入克尔型非线性介质中的高斯光束,形成“孤波”必须满足光束在束腰处注入,介质没有吸收的条件;当考虑高阶展开项时,通过数值分析发现,无论介质是否存在吸收,光束传输不存在“孤波”形式,而是在注入强度的控制之下。当注入强度较小时,自聚焦过程是它的一个主要结果。但当注入脉冲的强度增加后,除了腰斑半径不为零的区间增加,光束仍保持聚焦的正常现象之外,存在一个阈值。当注入强度超过此阈值时,腰斑半径随着距离的增加而快速增加,聚焦趋势根本就不存在。  相似文献
