在Huybrechts关于强耦合极化子的模型基础上,采用LLP变分法研究了极性晶体中激子与IO声子强耦合、与LO声子弱耦合体系的基态能量,推导出了激子的自陷能和诱生势的表达式,并以AgCl/AgBr晶体为例进行了数值计算,结果表明,激子的自陷能不仅与激子的坐标z有关,而且电子-空穴间距离ρ对激子自陷能的影响也十分显著;激子的诱生势不仅与电子-空穴间距离ρ有关,而且激子距离晶体界面的位置z对诱生势的影响也十分显著.  相似文献

We investigate the effect of the longitudinal-optical phonon field on the binding energies of excitons in quantum wells, well-wires and nanotubes based on ionic semiconductors. We take into account the exciton-phonon interaction by using the Aldrich-Bajaj effective potential for Wannier excitons in a polarizable medium. We extend the fractional-dimensional method developed previously for neutral and negatively charged donors to calculate the exciton binding energies in these heterostructures. In this method, the exciton wave function is taken as a product of the ground state functions of the electron polaron and hole polaron with a correlation function that depends only on the electron-hole separation. Starting from the variational principle we derive a one-dimensional differential equation, which is solved numerically by using the trigonometric sweep method. We find that the potential that takes into account polaronic effects always give rise to larger exciton binding energies than those obtained using a Coulomb potential screened by a static dielectric constant. This enhancement of the binding energy is more considerable in quantum wires and nanotubes than in quantum wells. Our results for quantum wells are in a good agreement with previous variational calculations. Also, we present novel curves of the exciton binding energies as a function of the wire and nanotubes radii for different models of the confinement potential.  相似文献

We study theoretically the interaction between excitons and longitudinal optical (LO) phonons in a cylindrical disk-like semiconductor quantum dot under an applied magnetic field. Due to the intensity of the interaction in the strong coupling regime, a composite quasi-particle called exciton–polaron is formed. We focus on the effect of the disk size and an external magnetic field on the exciton–phonon interaction energy and the exciton–polaron modes. The numerical computation for a CdSe quantum disk have shown that the exciton–phonon interaction energy is very significant and is even dominant when the disk height is small, which leads to a large Rabi splitting between the exciton–polaron modes. We investigate also the effect of the temperature on the integrated photoluminescence (PL) intensity, and show that at relatively high temperature the LO phonons have a noticeable effect on it. This physical parameter also shows a great dependence on quantum disk size and on magnetic field.  相似文献

The magnetooptics and picosecond dynamics of the radiative recombination of excitons in self-assembled semimagnetic CdSe/ZnMnSe quantum dots is studied at low temperatures. The behavior of individual quantum dots in a magnetic field and with an increase in temperature is indicative of a strong exchange interaction of excitons and magnetic Mn ions giving rise to a quasi-zero-dimensional exciton magnetic polaron. When the exciton energy exceeds the intracenter transition energy in Mn, the energy is rapidly transferred from excitons to Mn ions (faster than 20 ps). In the opposite case, a substantial red shift (~15 meV) of the emission line maximum is observed during the exciton lifetime ~500 ps, presenting the dynamics of the formation of a magnetic polaron with a characteristic time of ~110 ps.  相似文献

The theory of what happens to a superfluid in a random field, known as the “dirty boson” problem, directly relates to a real experimental system presently under study by several groups, namely excitons in coupled semiconductor quantum wells. We consider the case of bosons in two dimensions in a random field, when the random field can be large compared to the repulsive exciton–exciton interaction energy, but is small compared to the exciton binding energy. The interaction between excitons is taken into account in the ladder approximation. The coherent potential approximation (CPA) allows us to derive the exciton Green's function for a wide range of the random field strength, and in the weak-scattering limit CPA results in the second-order Born approximation. For quasi-two-dimensional excitonic systems, the density of the superfluid component and the Kosterlitz–Thouless temperature of the superfluid phase transition are obtained, and are found to decrease as the random field increases.  相似文献

Polaron effects on excitons in parabolic quantum wells are studied theoretically by using a variational approach with the so-called fractional dimension model. The numerical results for the exciton binding energies and longitudinal-optical phonon contributions in GaAs/Al0.3Ga0.7As parabolic quantum well structures are obtained as functions of the well width. It is shown that the exciton binding energies are obviously reduced by the electron (hole)-phonon interaction and the polaron effects are un-negligible. The results demonstrate that the fractional-dimension variational theory is effectual in the investigations of excitonic polaron problems in parabolic quantum wells.  相似文献

本文采用扩展的Hubbard模型,在电子-晶格耦合的紧束缚近似下,研究了光激发下的C60,分子的激子态和极化子态。我们发现,电子关联效应相当敏感地影响到单态和三态激子的束缚能。同时,C60分子动力学晶格弛豫使激子极化子得以形成。光激发下的C60分子,在电子相互作用U~5.0eV,V~2.0eV时,能够定性地解释荧光发射谱。 关键词:  相似文献

In the adiabatic approximation two limiting cases of exciton self-trapping have been considered for a degenerate atomic term creating the bands of Frenkel excitons, which interact with all crystal deformations admitted by symmetry: a case of a large radius excitation on the self-trapping barrier and a small-radius case. In the first case wave functions and deformations have been found which correspond to the barrier, in the second case the adiabatic surface of self-trapping excitons have been obtained. It is shown that the interaction with non-totally symmetric deformations leads to a lowering of the crystal point symmetry in a state corresponding to the lowest self-trapping barrier, that is the manifestation of the Jahn-Teller effect applied to a self-trapping exciton.  相似文献

Inspired by an experiment of indirect excitons photoluminescence (PL) in elevated quantum trap (High et al., 2009), we theoretically investigate the energy relaxation and nonlinear interactions of indirect excitons in coupled quantum wells. It is shown that, when increasing the laser power, the intensity reversion of two PL peaks is due to the phonon necklace effect. In addition, we use a nonlinear Schrödinger equation including attractive two-body, repulsive three-body interactions and the excitation power dependence of energy distribution to understand the exciton states. This model gives a natural account for the PL blue shift with the increase of the excitation power. This study thus provides an alternative way to understand the underlying physics of the exciton dynamics in coupled potential wells.  相似文献

We present a review of spin-dependent properties of excitons in semiconductor colloidal nanocrystals. The photoluminescences (PL) properties of neutral and charged excitons (trions) are compared. The mechanisms and the polarization of radiative recombination of a “dark” (spin-forbidden) exciton that determines the low-temperature PL of colloidal nanocrystals are discussed in detail. The radiative recombination of a dark exciton becomes possible as a result of simultaneous flips of the surface spin and electron spin in a dark exciton that leads to admixture of bright exciton states. This recombination mechanism is effective in the case of a disordered state of the spin system and is suppressed if the polaron ferromagnetic state forms. The conditions and various mechanisms of formation of the spin polaron state and possibilities of its experimental detection are discussed. The experimental and theoretical studies of magnetic field-induced circular polarization of PL in ensembles of colloidal nanocrystals are reviewed.  相似文献

The absorption spectra and the refractive index changes are calculated theoretically for an exciton in a core/shell quantum dot. The advantage of our methodology is that one can investigate the influence of the repulsive core by varying two parameters in the confinement potential. The dimensionality effect of exciton quantum dots on the optical absorptions has been studied. It has been found that in the same regime, the optical absorption intensities of excitons are much smaller for the core/shell quantum dots than for the two-dimensional quantum rings. The linear and the nonlinear optical absorption coefficients and refractive index changes have been examined with the change of the confinement potential. The results show that the optical absorptions and the refractive index changes are strongly affected by the repulsive core of core/shell quantum dots. Moreover, the calculated results also reveal that as the inner radius increases, the peak values of the absorption coefficients and the refractive index changes of an exciton will show the optical Aharonov–Bohm oscillation in core/shell quantum dots.  相似文献

A new model to explain nongeminate recombination in organic bulk heterojunction solar cells is presented. We suggest that the annihilation of excitons on charge carriers at the interface between donor and acceptor phases competes with the bimolecular recombination of Coulombically bound electron–hole pairs. The exciton–polaron interaction gives visible contribution to the reduction of Langevin recombination. An analytical formula, which describes the reduction prefactor, has been derived. Binding energies of Wannier excitons in a quantum well structure consisting of a single slab of GaAs sandwiched between two semi-infinite slabs of Ga1?xAlxAs are calculated using a variational approach. Due to reduction in symmetry along the axis of growth of these quantum well structures and the presence of band discontinuities at the interfaces, the degeneracy of the valence band of GaAs is removed leading to two exciton systems, namely, the heavy hole exciton and the light hole exciton. The variations of the binding energies of these two excitons as a function of the size of the GaAs quantum wells for various values of the heights of the potential barrier are calculated and their behavior is discussed.  相似文献

It is widely recognized that nonradiative quenching of excitons by other excitons and polarons become the dominant decay mechanism of these excitons at high excitation densities. These quenching processes cause the roll‐off in the efficiency of organic light‐emitting devices (OLEDs) and prevent lasing at high injection current densities. This review presents the optically‐detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) evidence for these photoluminescence‐ and electroluminescence‐quenching processes. And while it provides such evidence for quenching of singlet excitons by polarons and triplet excitons, it reveals the central role of the strongly spin‐dependent annihilation of triplet excitons by polarons, since under normal excitation conditions the steady‐state polaron and triplet exciton populations are 100–104 times the singlet exciton population. In addition, it also suggests that quenching of singlet excitons by bipolarons, likely stabilized by a counterpolaron or countercharge at specific sites, may also be a significant quenching mechanism that also affects the charge transport properties.  相似文献

A theory of the dephasing rate of quasi-2D free excitons due to acoustic phonon interaction at low exciton densities is presented. Both deformation potential and piezoelectric couplings are considered for the exciton–phonon interaction in quantum wells. Using the derived interaction Hamiltonian obtained recently by us, exciton linewidth and dephasing rate are calculated as a function of the exciton density, exciton temperature, exciton momentum and lattice temperature.  相似文献

Condensation of exciton polaritons in planar microcavities with GaAs/AlAs quantum wells in the active area has been studied. It has been found that an increase in the lifetime of polaritons up to ∼10–15 ps when the Q factor of a microcavity exceeds 7000 makes it possible to detect Bose-Einstein condensation of polaritons with a dominant (>90%) photon component. Condensation occurs under thermodynamically nonequilibrium conditions in lateral traps with diameters ∼10 μm formed due to long-range fluctuations of the polariton potential. The violet shift of the polariton emission line at the condensation threshold significantly exceeds the energy of the repulsive interaction between polaritons in the condensate. It has been shown that the shift is mainly due to a decrease in the oscillator strength of bright excitons in lateral traps, caused by the localization of photoexcited long-living dark excitons.  相似文献

The X trion is essentially an electron bound to an exciton. However, due to the composite nature of the exciton, there is no way to write an exciton-electron interaction potential. We can overcome this difficulty by using a commutation technique similar to the one we introduced for excitons interacting with excitons, which allows to take exactly into account the close-to-boson character of the excitons. From it, we can obtain the X trion creation operator in terms of excitons and electrons. We can also derive the X trion ladder diagram between an exciton and an electron. These are the basic tools for future works on many-body effects involving trions.  相似文献

A new effective interaction potential between an electron and a hole of a Mott-Wannier exciton in a polarizable medium is derived following a procedure similar to that of Haken. The variational polaron wave functions used are those first proposed by Haga. Using this effective interaction potential the values of the binding energy of an exciton are calculated variationally in several polar crystals. The values thus obtained agree very well with those derived from experimental measurements and are always considerably smaller than those calculated using Haken's potential.  相似文献
