This study investigated the effects of ZnSe nanoparticles (NPs) on the structural and (linear and nonlinear) optical properties of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) thin film. Three samples of ZnSe NP-doped PVA thin films with different concentrations of ZnSe were produced on a glass substrate. The ZnSe NPs were synthesized by pulsed laser ablation of the ZnSe bulk target immersed in distilled water using a 1064 nm wavelength and a high frequency pulsed Nd:YAG laser. The optical bandgap energies of the films were extracted from their UV-Vis-NIR absorption spectra. The corresponding energy bandgaps of the nanocomposite films declined as the ZnSe NPs doping concentration increased. X-ray diffraction analysis was used to characterize the crystalline phases of the ZnSe/PVA nanocomposite films. The concentration-dependent nonlinear optical absorption and nonlinear refraction behaviors of the films after exposure to 532-nm nanosecond laser pulses were investigated using the Z-scan technique. The nonlinear absorption response of the films was positive when measured using an open aperture scheme, which was attributed to the two-photon absorption mechanism. In addition, the nonlinear refraction indices had a negative value and they increased as the concentration of ZnSe NPs in the films increased.  相似文献

Filled and unfilled polyvinylalcohol (PVA) films were prepared by the casting technique. Films of equal amounts with various concentrations of two fillers (CoBr2 and MgCl2) were prepared. Spectroscopic, structural and some physical properties of these films were studied with different techniques. Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) revealed that the syndiotacticity structure of the PVA samples causes dense molecular packing in the crystal and also stronger intermolecular hydrogen bonds, which are responsible for the disappearance of the molecular motion. X-ray diffraction (XRD) scans evidenced the presence of some semicrystalline structure of PVA films. The optical absorption spectra suggested the presence of an optical gap (Eg), which depends on filler concentration for all the filling levels. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) suggests that the segmental mobility of an amorphous pure PVA increases as a result of the addition of mixed fillers, becoming less-rigid segments. This indicates that the mixed fillers act as plasticizers.  相似文献

We studied the effect of an organic surfactant, dextrin, concentration on structural, morphological and optical properties of nanostructured CdO films deposited on glass substrates by using an easy and low-cost SILAR method. Microstructures of the nanostructured CdO films were optimized by adjusting dextrin concentration. XRD, SEM and UV–Vis Spectroscopy were used to study phase structure, surface morphology and optical properties of CdO films. Furthermore, effects of dextrin concentration on the surface roughness characteristics of CdO samples were reported. The results showed that the presence of organic surfactant highly affected the physical properties of CdO nanomaterials.  相似文献

Abstract

Polyacrylamide grafted cellulose nanocrystals (CNC-g-PAM) were incorporated into poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) by a solution casting method to fabricate nanocomposite films with enhanced thermal and tensile properties. The microstructure and the thermal and tensile properties of the PVA/CNC-g-PAM nanocomposite films were investigated as a function of CNC-g-PAM content. Infrared spectroscopy corroborated the presence of hydrogen bonds between PVA and the PAM on the surface of the CNC. Polarized optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy revealed good dispersion of the CNC-g-PAM in the PVA matrix and good interfacial compatibility. Accordingly, the initial degradation temperature of the nanocomposite films was elevated slightly compared to pristine PVA film. The glass transition temperature, melting temperature, and crystallinity of the PVA also varied slightly after the incorporation of the CNC-g-PAM. At both 0% and 50% RH, the nanocomposite films showed an obvious increase of elastic modulus, no apparent change of breaking strength and a drastic reduction of elongation at break with increasing CNC-g-PAM content.  相似文献

This paper focuses the influence of porous morphology on the microstructure and optical properties of TiO2 films prepared by different sol concentration and calcination temperatures. Mesoporous TiO2 thin films were prepared on the glass substrates by sol-gel dip coating technique using titanium (IV) isopropoxide. Porous morphology of the films can be regulated by chemical kinetics and is studied by scanning electron microscopy. The optical dispersion parameters such as refractive index (n), oscillator energy (Ed), and particle co-ordination number (Nc) of the mesoporous TiO2 films were studied using Swanepoel and Wemple-DiDomenico single oscillator models. The higher precursor concentration (0.06 M), films exhibit high porosity and refractive index, which are modified under calcination treatment. Calcinated films of low metal precursor concentration (0.03 M) possess higher particle co-ordination number (Nc = 5.05) than that of 0.06 M films (Nc = 4.90) due to calcination at 400 °C. The lattice dielectric constant (E) of mesoporous TiO2 films was determined by using Spintzer model. Urbach energy of the mesoporous films has been estimated for both concentration and the analysis revealed the strong dependence of Urbach energy on porous morphology. The influence of porous morphology on the optical dispersion properties also has been explained briefly in this paper.  相似文献

Polymer nanocomposite (PNC) films based on the blend matrix of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) (50/50 wt%) incorporated with zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles (i.e., (PVA–PVP)–x wt% ZnO; x = 0, 1, 3 and 5) were prepared by solution-cast method. The behaviour of polymer-polymer and polymer-nanoparticle interactions in the PNC films was ascertained by employing X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray, and Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopies. Scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy were performed for the morphological characterization, whereas the thermal and optical properties of the PNC films were investigated by using differential scanning calorimetry and ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy, respectively. The dielectric and electrical behaviour of these PNC materials were determined by employing the dielectric relaxation spectroscopy over the frequency range from 20 Hz to 1 MHz. The influence of ZnO concentration on the degree of PVA crystalline phase and the crystallite size, surface morphology and roughness of the films, the glass phase transition and melting phase transition temperatures, direct and indirect optical energy band gap, refractive index, complex permittivity, electrical conductivity, activation energy and the structural dynamics of these PNC materials were explored. The investigated properties of the PNC films were credited to an innovation and engineering of novel high performance flexible nanodielectrics in the area of advanced functional materials for their promising applications especially in the next generation optoelectronic, gas sensor and microelectronic devices.  相似文献

The aim of the study is to investigate the optical properties of spin-coated, highly transparent nanocomposite films of oleic acid modified ZnO (Zinc oxide) nanorods embedded in Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) matrix. Pristine and oleic acid (OA) modified ZnO nanorods have been prepared by wet chemical synthesis and are characterized by X-ray diffraction, FESEM, TEM and FT–IR spectroscopy techniques. The optical properties of ZnO/PVA films are studied using UV–visible absorption and Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The results show that the optical absorption of the films in the UV region is quite high and more than 95% absorption is observed in films prepared from OA modified ZnO nanorods. The excellent UV absorption at around 300 nm offers prospects of applications of these films as efficient UV filters in this wavelength region. The PL spectrum of pristine ZnO nanorods shows almost white light emission whereas OA modified ZnO nanorods have a more intense peak centered in the blue region. The PL emission of OA modified ZnO/PVA film shows appreciable increase in intensity compared to the film obtained with pristine ZnO. The surface modification of ZnO by the polymer matrix removes defect states within ZnO and facilitates sharp near band edge PL emission at 364 nm.  相似文献

High-performance organic composite thermoelectric(TE)materials are considered as a promising alternative for harvesting heat energy.Herein, composite films of poly(3,4-ethyienedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate)/single-walled carbon nanotubes(PEDOT:PSS/SWCNTs)were fabricated by utilizing a convenient solution mixing method.Thereafter, the as-prepared hybrid films were treated using sulfuric acid(H2SO4)to further optimize the TE performance.Film morphological studies revealed that the sulfuric acid treated PEDOT:PSS/SWCNTs composite samples all possessed porous structures.Due to the successful fabrication of highly conductive networks, the porous nano-architecture also exhibited much more excellent TE properties when compared with the dense structure of the pristine samples. For the post-treated sample,a high power factor of 156.43μW·m-1·K-2can be achieved by adjusting the content of CNTs,which is approximately 3 orders of magnitude higher than that of the corresponding untreated samples(0.23μW·m-1·K-2).Besides,the obtained films also showed excellent mechanical flexibility, owing to the porous nanostructure and the strong p–p interactions between the two components. This work indicates that the H2SO4 treatment could be a promising strategy for fabricating highly-flexible and porous PEDOT:PSS/SWCNTs films with high TE performances.  相似文献

Thin films of lanthanum sulphide (La2S3) have been deposited onto glass substrates by spray pyrolysis technique from non-aqueous (methanol) medium. The structural, morphological, optical, dielectric, electric and thermoemf properties were studied. The films were polycrystalline with an irregular shaped particles present over the porous structure within a fibrous network structure. The optical band gap was estimated to be 2.50 eV. The dielectric properties were measured in the range 100 Hz-1 MHz. The electrical resistivity was of the order of 104 to 105 Ω cm. Thermoemf study revealed that the La2S3 films exhibit p-type electrical conductivity.  相似文献

Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy was used to determine the electrical band gap of nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si) deposited by plasma enhancement chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) on porous alumina structure by fitting the experimental spectra using a model based on the quantum confinement of electrons in Si nanocrystallites having spherical and cylindrical forms. This model permits to correlate the PL spectra to the microstructure of the porous aluminum silicon layer (PASL) structure. The microstructure of aluminum surface layer and nc-Si films was systematically studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). It was found that the structure of the nanocrystalline silicon layer (NSL) is dependent of the porosity (void) of the porous alumina layer (PAL) substrate. This structure was performed in two steps, namely the PAL substrate was prepared using sulfuric acid solution attack on an Al foil and then the silicon was deposited by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) on it. The optical constants (n and k as a function of wavelength) of the deposited films were obtained using variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) in the UV-vis-NIR regions. The SE spectrum of the porous aluminum silicon layer (PASL) was modeled as a mixture of void, crystalline silicon and aluminum using the Cauchy model approximation. The specific surface area (SSA) was estimated and was found to decrease linearly when porosity increases. Based on this full characterization, it is demonstrated that the optical characteristics of the films are directly correlated to their micro-structural properties.  相似文献

Chemically crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/carboxylated nanocry-stalline cellulose (PVA/CNCC) nanocomposite hydrogel films were fabricated by film-casting of PVA/CNCC mixture solutions and subsequent thermal-curing of the PVA with the CNCC. Gel fractions of the hydrogel films were measured to confirm the occurrence of crosslinking. Morphologies of the hydrogel films were characterized by polarized light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Thermal properties, swelling behavior and mechanical properties of the hydrogel films were investigated to evaluate the influence of CNCC content (10~30% of PVA mass). Equilibrium water content of the hydrogel films was in the range of 40~49%. At swelling equilibrium, the hydrogel films could be stretched to 3~3.4 times their original length, and their tensile strength was in the range of 7.9~11.6 MPa. The results show that the PVA/CNCC nanocomposite hydrogel films were both extensible and highly tough.  相似文献

Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) polymer was prepared using the casting technique. The obtained PVA thin films have been irradiated with electron beam doses ranging from 20 to 300 kGy. The resultant effect of electron beam irradiation on the structural properties of PVA has been investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), while the thermal properties have been investigated using thermo-gravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The onset temperature of decomposition T 0 and activation energy of thermal decomposition E a were calculated, results indicate that the PVA thin film decomposes in one main weight loss stage. Also, the electron beam irradiation in dose range 95–210 kGy led to a more compact structure of the PVA polymer, which resulted in an improvement in its thermal stability with an increase in the activation energy of thermal decomposition. The variation of transition temperatures with electron beam dose has been determined using DTA. The PVA thermograms were characterized by the appearance of an endothermic peak due to melting. In addition, the transmission of the PVA samples and any color changes were studied. The color intensity Δ E was greatly increased with increasing electron beam dose, and was accompanied by a significant increase in the blue color component.  相似文献

Cobalt oxide thin films were prepared by a facile spray pyrolysis technique, using a perfume atomizer with an aqueous solution of hydrated cobalt chloride salt with a molar concentration of 0.025?M as a source of cobalt. The films were deposited onto glass substrates at temperature of 350?°C. The structural, morphological, and electrochromic properties of the obtained films were studied. It was found from X-ray diffraction analysis that the films were polycrystalline in nature with spinel-type cubic structure and preferred orientation along [111] direction. The Scanning Electron Microscopy images revealed a porous structure with the average grain size around 200?nm. The cyclic voltammetry measurements revealed that Cobalt oxide thin film is an anodically coloring electrochromic material with a transmittance variation in the visible range of 31%, and a fast response time (about 2?seconds) and a good cycling stability. These electrochromic performances make cobalt oxide thin film an attractive material for using as an anodic electrochromic material in smart windows devices. The photoluminescence spectra exhibited a strong emission in the visible region confirming the good crystallinity properties of Co3O4 thin films.  相似文献

Highly transparent and conductive Boron doped zinc oxide (ZnO:B) thin films were deposited using chemical spray pyrolysis (CSP) technique on glass substrate. The effect of variation of boron doping concentration in reducing solution on film properties was investigated. Low angle X-ray analysis showed that the films were polycrystalline fitting well with a hexagonal wurtzite structure and have preferred orientation in [002] direction. The films with resistivity 2.54×10−3 Ω-cm and optical transmittance >90% were obtained at optimized boron doping concentration. The optical band gap of ZnO:B films was found ∼3.27 eV from the optical transmittance spectra for the as-deposited films. Due to their excellent optical and electrical properties, ZnO:B films are promising contender for their potential use as transparent window layer and electrodes in solar cells.  相似文献

Face-centered cubic Ag porous films have been prepared directly from the heat treatment of AgNO3-doped poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) electrospun nanofibers. Using Rhodamine B (RB) as the probing molecule, the surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) effect of Ag porous films was demonstrated. The antibacterial activity of Ag porous films was also studied in this work. The propagation and biological activity of yeast cells were effectively inhibited by Ag porous films. These functional Ag porous films were expected to be applied in many fields, such as catalysis, diagnostics, sensors and antibacterial, etc.  相似文献

CdS thin films have been grown on Si(1 1 1) and quartz substrates using femtosecond pulsed laser deposition. X-ray diffraction, atomic force microscopy, photoluminescence measurement, and optical transmission spectroscopy were used to characterize the structure and optical properties of the deposited CdS thin films. The influence of the laser fluence (laser incident energy in the range 0.5–1.5 mJ/pulse) on the structural and optical characterizations of CdS thin films has been studied. The results indicate that the structure and optical properties of the CdS thin films can be improved as increasing the per pulse output energy of the femtosecond laser to 1.2 mJ. But when the per pulse output energy of the femtosecond laser is further increased to 1.5 mJ, which leads to the degradation of the structure and optical properties of the CdS thin films.  相似文献

In this paper we report detail investigation and correlation between micro-structural and optical properties of nanocrystalline silicon (nc-Si) deposited by plasma enhancement chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) on porous aluminum structure. The influence of the microstructure of the nc-Si thin films on their optical properties was investigated through an extensive characterization. The effect of anodisation currents on the microstructure of aluminum surface layer and nc-Si films was systematically studied by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The optical constants (n and k as a function of wavelength) of the films were obtained using variable angle spectroscopic ellipsometry (SE) in the UV-vis-NIR regions. The silicon layer (SL) was modeled as a mixture of void, crystalline silicon and aluminum using the Bruggeman approximation. Based on this full characterization, it is demonstrated that the optical characteristics of the films are directly correlated to their micro-structural properties. A very bright photoluminescence (PL) was obtained and find to depend on anodisation current.
