We develop a compact and high-energy Nd:YAG slab laser system consisting of an oscillator and an amplifier for space applications. The oscillator is a diode-side-pumped electro-optically Q-switched slab laser with a cross-Porro resonator. The KD*P Pockels cell with a low driving voltage of 950 V is used to polarization output coupling. The amplifier is a Nd:YAG zigzag slab pumped at bounces. The maximum output pulse energy of 341 m3 with 13 ns pulse duration is obtained from the system at the repetition rate of 20 Hz and the beam quality factors are M2=3.1 and M2=3.5. The beam pointing stabilities of the laser system are 3.05μrad in the X-direction and 3.99 grad in the Y-direction, respectively.  相似文献

A one-dimensional (1D) top-hat, diode-end-pumped, electro-optically Q-switched Nd:YVO4 slab laser is demonstrated. Under the pump power of 175.5 W, 26.3-W output power is obtained with the repetition rate of 5 kHz and the pulse width of 4.3 ns. The output beam has a good top-hat beam profile in both the near field and the far field.  相似文献

We demonstrate a high efficiency multi-kW diode-side-pumped Nd:YAG laser. High cooling efficiency of the diode-side-pumped module in the laser is achieved. The middle portion of the Nd:YAG rod in the module is cooled by a coolant jet with screwed side surface, and the end-caps of the rod without screwed side surface are cooled by Au coated on the surface. The thermal effect of the laser rod is reduced, which leads to high output power with high optical-optical conversion efficiency. By using three identical Nd:YAG laser modules, an output power of 4.2 kW and beam quality of 58 mm・mrad with an optical-optical efficiency of 35% at 1064 nm is obtained in a laser oscillator. By using four identical Nd:YAG laser modules, an output power of 3.1 kW and beam quality of 17 mm・mrad with an optical-optical efficiency of 25.8% is demonstrated in a master oscillator power-amplifier system.  相似文献

A laser-diode pumped passive Q-switched Nd:YAG/Cr~(4+):YAG laser with quick tunable pulse-width capability is studied and experimentally demonstrated. By focusing the auxiliary controlling laser beam onto a Cr~(4+):YAG crystal and thereby changing the initial transmission of the Cr~(4+):YAG crystal, laser pulses with different pulse widths can be achieved. The obtained laser pulse width is tunable in the range of 550–1492 ps with a fixed cavity length of 7 mm. The laser can be used to achieve different pulse widths between two pulses in the range of sub-nanosecond to a few tens of nanoseconds.  相似文献

A laser diode-stack end-pumped electro-optically Q-switched Nd:YAG slab oscillator-amplifier system with neardiffraction-limited output is demonstrated by a stable-unstable hybrid resonator. The average power of 100 W at a repetition rate of lOkHz with a pulse width 14.7ns and average power of 76.3 W at a repetition rate of 5kHz with a pulse width of 10.2ns are measured. At the repetition rate of 10 kHz and at an output power of 89 W, the beam quality factors M^2 in the unstable and stable directions are 1.3 and 1.5, respectively.  相似文献

To obtain short pulse width and high peak power laser, a 7 kHz sub-nanosecond microchip laser amplified by a grazing incidence double pass slab amplifier is experimentally demonstrated in this Letter. We use a compact side-pumped Nd∶YVO4 bounce amplifier with grazing incidence beam for achieving high gains and power extraction. Laser output power of 7.37 W at 7 kHz, 1.2 MW pulse peak power with 877 ps duration and 1.05 mJ energy, 25 pm spectral width, and near diffraction limited mode beam quality are achieved, and the optical-to-optical efficiency is 18%. The laser is packaged in a volume of 356 mm × 226 mm × 84 mm and may be used for applications such as laser altimeters and ladar systems.  相似文献

A fundamental mode Nd:YAG laser is experimentally demonstrated with a stagger pumped laser module and a special resonator. The rod is pumped symmetrically by staggered bar modules. A dynamic fundamental mode is achieved with the special resonator under different pump levels. A maximal continuous wave output of 61 W (M^2 = 1.4) is achieved with a single rod. An average output of 47 W, pulse width of 54 ns, pulse energy of 4.7 mJ and peak power of 87kW are obtained under the Q-switched operation of 10 kHz.  相似文献

A large-aperture Nd:YAG thin-disk laser directly cooled by liquid is end-pumped by two spatial selforganized laser diode arrays. The pump coupling efficiency reaches as high as 93%. Without any complex pump coupling components, the structure becomes simplified and compact. By optimizing the incident angle of the pump beam, a pump power density of 578 W/cm2 is achieved with a pump uniformity of 5.52%. Up to 1 346-W peak output power with a slope efficiency of 54.9% is obtained when pumping with a long pulse. The near-field pattern of the laser output is uniform.  相似文献

We report an LD side-pumped continuous-wave passive mode-locked Nd:YAG laser with a Z-type folded cavity based on a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM). The average output power 2.95 W of mode-locked laser with electro-optical conversion efficiency of 1.3% and high beam quality (Mx2=1.25 and My2=1.22) is achieved. The repetition rate of mode-locked pulse of 88 MHz with pulse energy of 34 nJ is obtained.  相似文献
