We present DDA investigations of light scattering by irregular particles whose size is comparable with wavelength. We consider four types of randomly irregular particles: strongly damaged spheres, rough-surface spheres, pocked spheres, and agglomerated debris particles. Each type of particle is generated with a well defined algorithm producing an ensemble of stochastically different particles that have a common origin. The different types of irregular particles produce different angular dependencies of intensity and linear polarization degree. Transformation of phase curves of intensity and polarization with changing size parameter for irregular particles tends to be more monotonic, unlike spheres. We find that the magnitude of the negative polarization branch (NPB) tends to shrink as particle absorption increases; whereas, the maximal value and position of the positive polarization branch tends to increase. The most frequently observed shape of the negative polarization at small phase angles is asymmetric with a shift of the minimum position towards the angle of polarization sign inversion. All types of considered irregular particles reveal such asymmetry at x<10. Symmetric negative polarization branches occur seldom. The necessary conditions for their appearance are a relatively large size parameter x?10 to 12 and low absorption.  相似文献

Broadband Mie scattering is used to determine the parameters of polystyrene aerosol beads in air,such as size and wavelength dependence of refractive index.This method consists in the selection of such parameters of the scattering object,which reproduce observed spectrum properties.That is why it is very sensitive and hence very precise.We found that there is an ambiguity of polystyrene aerosol beads properties,determined with this method.Different combinations of polystyrene particle size and its refractive index can give the same position of Mie resonances.This ambiguity leads to an increase in the error in determining the size and refractive index of the particle.The refined errors are calculated and the way of their reduction is indicated.  相似文献

目标对入射偏振光的散射特性反映了目标的属性信息。在Rayleigh散射理论的基础上,通过单层非球形粒子对入射偏振光的散射数学模型,应用矢量传输方程来计算非球形粒子散射的Mueller矩阵元,求解散射介质的偏振度,讨论在不同介质层厚度、粒子半径和探测角的条件下,非球形粒子散射光去偏振度的变化特性,给出了模拟仿真结果。该方法为研究目标的内部结构、厚度和粗糙度等特征以及目标的探测和识别提供了一种新的途径。  相似文献

为模拟低太阳高度角条件下的天空偏振模式,自主开发了考虑大气球形几何及大气折射效应的辐射传输模式VSPART,并将其运用于漫射光偏振特性仿真.在模式中,基于射线追踪法实现了光线传播轨迹的追踪和入射光偏振态及透过率的计算,基于矩阵算法实现了辐射传输方程的求解.将VSPART模拟结果与基准值、SPDISORT模拟值进行了比较,验证了模型的准确性.在瑞利散射大气和含气溶胶大气条件下,模拟并分析了漫射光偏振度及偏振方向的分布特征,讨论了大气球形几何及折射效应对天空偏振度的影响.结果表明,低太阳高度角条件下,随着波长增加,瑞利散射大气对应的偏振度整体随之增强,中性点向大天顶角方向移动;气溶胶的存在并不改变天空偏振度分布特征,但对偏振方向影响显著,随着光学厚度的增加,天空偏振度值迅速降低;中性点的偏移可能与低阶散射过程紧密相关;大气球形几何和折射效应的主要影响区域为地平线区域、两中性点附近及天顶区域;瑞利散射大气条件下,随着波长增加,大气球形几何及折射效应的影响逐步减弱,特别在中性点附近及天顶区域,其影响逐步消失;随着气溶胶光学厚度的增加,其影响随之增强.  相似文献

A set of coupled integral equations describing nonconservative multiple scattering for a mixed isotropic and Rayleigh single scattering phase function in inhomogeneous, plane-parallel planetary atmospheres is derived. The equations are applicable for the frequency redistributions MRE (monochromatic radiative equilibrium), CFR (complete frequency redistribution), or PFR (partial frequency redistribution). Solution of the equations permits one to calculate the intensity and degree of polarization in an arbitrary direction outside or inside the plane-parallel scattering medium. The equations are readily adaptable to more complicated geometries. Solutions for several cases are presented to demonstrate the versatility and validity of the method. These include a calculation of MRE pure Rayleigh scattering of sunlight in an optically-thick planetary atmosphere to demonstrate agreement with the results of Coulson(1)et al. (1960), calculations of the altitude profile of the degree of polarization of the earth's Ly-α 1216A and helium 584A dayglow, and the center to limb variation of the degree of polarization of the sunlight diffusely reflected from a distant planet such that the scattering is pure Rayleigh and conservative at the top of the planet's atmosphere, varying smoothly to conditions of nonconservative and pure isotropic scattering deep in the planet's atmosphere. Tables of functions that one might utilize (without resort to a digital computer) to obtain solutions in the escape function approximation are also given.  相似文献

根据Mie散射理论,基于一次实测资料拟合得出雾滴谱分布,计算了雾滴粒子群的散射相函数矩阵,揭示了不同波长的雾滴粒子群对入射激光的散射偏振特征。结果表明:激光散射强度随散射角的增加呈现先减小后增大的趋势,且波长越小散射光强分布越集中;波长越大,偏振度随散射角分布越平滑,反之分布震动则越剧烈;各波段偏振度随散射角增大的分布趋势大致相同,关键散射角随波长的减小向增大的方向偏移。  相似文献

采用矩阵形式描述光子的偏振态和大气散射理论, 分析了“BB84协议”中四个不同偏振光子经单次散射后光子的偏振度与前向散射角的关系。发现单次散射不改变偏振光子的总偏振度, 但改变偏振光子的线偏振度与圆偏振度, 尤其对垂直偏振光子的线偏振度与圆偏振度改变明显; 当前向散射角小于0.25 rad时, 四个不同偏振光子的线偏振度基本保持不变, 量子信息仍然保持; 同时分析了大气散射对不同波长的垂直偏振光子线偏振度的影响, 发现长波光子偏振度保持度高。  相似文献

Based on the principles of geometric optics, the ray-tracing technique has been extensively used to compute the single-scattering properties of particles whose sizes are much larger than the wavelength of the incident wave. However, the inhomogeneity characteristics of internal waves within an absorbing particle, which stem from a complex index of refraction, have not been fully taken into consideration in the geometric ray-tracing approaches reported in the literature for computing the scattering properties of absorbing particles. In this paper, we first demonstrate that electromagnetic fields associated with an absorbing particle can be decomposed into the TE and TM modes. Subsequently, on the basis of Maxwell's equations and electromagnetic boundary conditions for the TE-mode electric field and the TM-mode magnetic field, we derive generalized Fresnel reflection and refraction coefficients, which differ from conventional formulae and do not involve complex angles. Additionally, a recurrence formulism is developed for the computation of the scattering phase matrix of an absorbing particle within the framework of the conventional geometric ray-tracing method. We further present pertinent numerical examples for the phase function and the degree of linear polarization in conjunction with light scattering by individual absorbing spheres, and discuss the deviation of the geometric optics solutions from the exact Lorenz-Mie results with respect to size parameter and complex refractive index.  相似文献

生物组织内部结构复杂且具有较强的散射特性,而光作为生物组织检测的重要信息载体,其自身特性包括颜色、幅值、偏振等都对信息获取有较大的影响。结合偏振成像,对生物组织多光谱偏振特性展开了研究,依据不同微粒尺寸的分布建立了均匀单层生物组织模型,结合瑞利和米氏散射理论模拟了基于单个微粒的两种散射事件。瑞利散射具有较好的前向后向散射对称性,米氏散射具有强前向散射特性,两种散射模型都与尺寸参数有着密切的关系,而尺寸参数是一个无因次量,取决于入射波长和散射微粒的尺寸,在生物组织中多以米氏散射为研究模型。使用蒙特卡罗(Monte Carlo MC)方法对400~1 000 nm波段范围内的偏振光在生物组织中的传输特性进行了仿真,模拟了四种典型偏振态(水平线偏振光、垂直线偏振光、45°线偏振光和右旋圆偏振光)在组织中传播时后向散射光偏振态变化与波长的关系,并进行了实验验证,实验光源选用白色LED灯,利用450, 525, 550, 590, 610, 650和690 nm滤光片滤光,由彩色相机记录手掌的偏振图像,其中偏振图像由两组线偏振片和右旋圆偏振片分别作为起偏和检偏器产生。仿真和实验结果均表明,随着波长增加线偏振光经皮肤组织后向散射出射光的偏振度整体呈上升趋势,圆偏振光呈下降趋势,但圆偏振光的偏振度整体上高于线偏振光,这揭示了在生物组织中相同波长的圆偏振光比线偏振光具有更好的偏振保持性,更适合用于探测生物组织的生理信息。相关研究结果明确了圆偏振光和线偏振光在生物组织中传输时的多光谱特性,可为多光谱偏振生理信息获取提供一定的理论支持。  相似文献

本文用T-matrix方法计算了非球形气溶胶粒子的光学特性,得到了气溶胶粒子的消光截面、散射截面、吸收截面与气溶胶粒子形状的关系,不同形状气溶胶粒子的有着相同的散射相函数和不同的偏振度,非球形气溶胶粒子的散射相函数对其复折射指数的实部和虚部都不太敏感,而偏振相函数对其实部和虚部都比较敏感.此结论为研究大气辐射传输提供了较好的方法,尤其是偏振度与偏振相函数的提出为用偏振的方法进一步的反演气溶胶的光学参数提供了理论基础.  相似文献

The Mie theory and Rayleigh approximation are two basic methods to study the EM scattering of uncharged spherical particle, and when the particle radius is much smaller than the incident wavelength, they are equivalent, but whether the Rayleigh approximation is still equivalent to Mie theory when we use them to calculate the EM scattering of small charged particle, there is still no any report published to discuss this problem. In this paper we make some comparisons between Mie theory and Rayleigh approximation to solve the EM scattering of partially electrification spherical particles. The results showed that the Mie theory would be more suitable to calculate the scattering of charged spherical particles.  相似文献

The polarization of light scattered into directions out of the plane of incidence by polystyrene latex spheres upon a silicon substrate was measured for p -polarized incident light. The experimental data show good agreement with theoretical predictions for three sizes of spheres. These results demonstrate that the polarization of light scattered by particles can be used to determine the size of particulate contaminants on silicon wafers. Theoretical models, based on successive degrees of approximation, indicate that the mean distance of a particle from the surface is the primary determinant of the scattered light polarization for small out-of-plane scattering angles.  相似文献

At present, single-mode optical fibers composed of metamaterials—so-called “left-handed” optical media—for the far- and mid-IR ranges have already been created. In the near future, left-handed singlemode optical fibers for the visible and near-IR ranges will be created, light-carrying cores of which will be composed by an ordered structure of dielectric elements, the dimensions of which will be much smaller than the light wavelength, while the effective refractive index of the structure will be negative; i.e., the structure will possess the so-called “Veselago effect.” We show that, because the dimensions of these dielectric elements many times exceed the dimensions of molecules of optical media, the elements should strongly scatter light, with this scattering considerably exceeding the Rayleigh (molecular) light scattering that occurs in conventional quartz single-mode optical fibers. We propose to term this phenomenon the quasi-Rayleigh light scattering. Numerical estimates of the quasi-Rayleigh light scattering for left-handed single-mode optical fibers at a light wavelength of λ = 1.55 μm have been made.  相似文献

Scattering properties of an ensemble of independent, randomly-oriented systems consisting of two contacting wavelength-sized dielectric particles of spherical and random shapes are studied. The optical properties of such ensembles are shown to be determined, to a considerable degree, by the properties of individual components of the system; the role of collective effects is insignificant. For large scattering angles, systems consisting of two spheres form the negative branch of the degree of linear polarization when an individual sphere also forms it, and when systems composed of equivalent particles of random shape do not exhibit the negative branch. The conclusion is made that the modeling of the scattering properties of aspherical and aggregate particles by using systems of spheres of size of the order of the optical wavelength is inadequate.  相似文献

采用多角度动态光散射和加权正则化反演方法,对4组模拟的双峰分布颗粒体系(100/600 nm,200/600 nm,300/600 nm和350/600 nm)分别选取1、3、6和10个散射角进行测量.粒度反演结果表明,采用加权正则化方法反演双峰颗粒体系的多角度动态光散射测量数据,可获得峰值位置比小于2∶1且含有大粒径(>350 nm)颗粒的双峰颗粒粒度分布.采用标准聚苯乙烯乳胶颗粒进行实测的结果验证了这一结论.得到含大粒径颗粒的双峰粒度分布反演结果的原因在于,多角度动态光散射能提供更多的大粒径颗粒的粒度信息,加权正则化反演方法能减少测量数据中的噪声,因而多角度动态光散射测量数据的加权反演能实现峰值位置比小于2∶1且含有大粒径颗粒的双峰颗粒体系的测量.  相似文献

从Mie理论出发,得到了不同尺度的球形粒子对激光的散射图像及粒子的消光效率曲线。从得到的散射图像可以看出,随着粒子尺度的逐渐增大,散射光强越来越集中到前向散射方向,并且散射光强集中的角度越来越窄。从消光效率曲线可以看出,随着粒子尺度的增加,消光效率因子变化趋于平缓,并逐渐趋向于常数2。最后分析了散射光的偏振度对粒子尺度和散射角的变化关系。从散射光的偏振度随粒子尺度变化图可以看出,粒子散射光的偏振度随粒子尺度的增大而增加,且变化比较明显,而散射光偏振度大小的峰值逐渐趋向于前向方向,随着粒子尺度的增大,散射光偏振度趋于减小。  相似文献

We compare measurements of the phase-angle dependencies of the intensity and degree of linear polarization of particles in air and particulate surfaces. The samples were measured at two spectral bands centered near 0.63 and 0.45 μm. The surfaces were measured with the new photometer/polarimeter at the Astronomical Institute of Kharkov National University. The scattering measurements of the particles in air were carried out with the equipment currently located at the University of Amsterdam. We study a suite of samples of natural mineral particles of different sizes all in the micrometer range, i.e. comparable with the wavelengths. The samples are characterized by a variety of particle shapes and albedos. The samples have been studied in several works and in this paper we include new SEM microphotographs of particles and spectra of powders in a wide spectral range, 0.3–50 μm, using the RELAB equipment of Brown University. We made measurements of particulate surfaces in a phase-angle range, 2–60° that is significantly wider than that of our previous studies. We confirm our earlier results that the negative polarization of the surfaces may be a remnant of the negative polarization of the single scattering by the particles that constitute the surfaces. We also find differences in the spectral behavior of the polarization degree of particles in air and particulate surfaces at large phase angles.  相似文献

雾霾天气已严重影响人们的日常生活,通过检测雾霾粒子的紫外光散射偏振特性可以有效分析雾霾成因。矿物粒子、灰尘粒子等雾霾颗粒均有小规模表面粗糙度的形态学特征,因此可用切比雪夫粒子作为模型分析。“日盲”紫外光与切比雪夫雾霾粒子相互作用发生散射,散射光偏振特性可反演切比雪夫雾霾颗粒物理性质(如粒子尺寸参数、复杂折射率、粒子形变、波纹参数)。采用紫外光单次散射模型和T矩阵方法,仿真分析切比雪夫雾霾粒子物理参数与散射光偏振特性(Stokes矢量和偏振度)之间的关系,结果表明:粒径对散射光Stokes矢量IsQs随散射角的变化趋势影响很大,粒子的粒径和复杂折射率虚部的变化会造成散射光偏振度随散射角的变化趋势的改变;具体分析散射角度为10°时,得到粒径对IsQs的数值影响最大,当粒径r<1 μm时,Is随粒径呈现抛物线趋势;切比雪夫粒子形变的增大,Is呈现先增大后减小的趋势。  相似文献

The effects of morphological structure, water coating, dust mixing and primary particle size distribution on the radiative properties of soot fractal aggregates in atmosphere are investigated using T-matrix method. These fractal aggregates are numerically generated using a combination of the particle-cluster and cluster-cluster aggregation algorithms with fractal parameters representing soot aggregate in atmosphere. The radiative properties of compact aggregate notably deviate from that of the branched one, and the effect of morphology changes on the radiative properties in wet air cannot be neglected. However it is reasonable to use realization-averaged radiative properties to represent that of the aggregates with certain morphology. In wet air, the scattering, absorption and extinction cross-section and symmetry parameter of soot aggregates coated with water notably increase with water shell thickness. The mixing structures of dust have little effect on radiative properties of aggregates, but the volume fraction of dust has an obvious effect on extinction, scattering and absorption cross-section of aggregates when the size parameters are above the Rayleigh limit. Although the primary particle size distribution of soot aggregate has mild effect on the scattering albedo and asymmetry parameter, the deviations of the extinction, scattering, absorption cross-section among the three size distributions are significant in this study. The size distribution has a significant effect on forward scattering of phase function, while the effect can be neglected as the size parameter approaches to the Rayleigh limit.  相似文献

使用离散偶极子近似算法DDSCAT7.1与米散射理论算法MIEV0研究复杂成分混合体等效性时, 由于两者为不同的原理和实现算法, 考察DDSCAT7.1和MIEV0所计算出的相同光学量的相对偏差将非常必要。通过比较两种算法所计算出的球形散射型粒子海盐和吸收型粒子含碳气溶胶的光学量的相对偏差, 结果表明: 两种算法所计算的非散射角函数光学量的相对偏差较小; 在瑞利散射区, 散射相矩阵分量M1和S21的相对偏差较小, 而M2和D21只在一定的散射角范围内相对偏差较小; 在米散射区, M1、M2、S21在有限的散射角范围内相对偏差较小, 而D21的相对偏差则普遍较大。在光散射等效性判据选取时, 非散射角函数光学量适合用来研究内混合体的等效性, 而散射相函数则不太适合用来研究内混合体等效性, 除非综合考虑粒子尺度参数以及选择合适的散射角等因素。在光散射技术中对粒子谱分布和折射率相当敏感的D21, 比较难以用在以两种方法为基础的内混合体等效性研究中。  相似文献
