Starting from a model of an indirect optical semiconductor with two bands, the electron states are calculated in the presence of an additional periodic one-dimensional potential (superlattice) in the semiconductor material. These states are used to determine the transition probability connected with the absorption of a photon. This transition corresponds to an optical direct transition — no phonon takes part in this process. The optical direct and optical indirect transitions are compared. For optical frequencies near the band gap one expects only direct transitions, whereby the optical indirect transitions may be neglected.  相似文献

Fiber optic sensors based on the interaction of surface plasmons or evanescent waves with the surrounding environment are usually obtained by tapering an optical fiber, which significantly weakens the structure, or by use of just the end of the optical fiber. A fiber optic structure that maintains the structural integrity of the optical fiber with a long environmental interaction length is presented. Graded-index optical fiber elements are used as lenses, and a coreless optical fiber acts as the environmental interaction area. These elements are fused by an optical fiber splicer and result in a continuous fiber optic sensing system.  相似文献

Multiple-wavelength optical fields on a detecting plane of an interferometer are generated from the interference signals detected for an object surface. The generated optical fields are backpropagated along the optical axis. An optical field along the optical axis is reconstructed by summing the backpropagated fields over the multiple wavelengths. The intensity and phase distributions of the reconstructed optical field provide the position of the object surface with an accuracy of a few nanometers.  相似文献

超高分辨成像技术一直是航天、遥感、目标识别等领域的研究热点。随着光学成像到光电数字成像的转变,如何提高CCD的几何分辨率,已成为研制高分辨光电成像系统亟待解决的问题。本文从理论和工程实现的角度介绍了超分辨成像的技术原理,分析了实现超分辨重建技术的几种方法,主要描述了微扫描和亚像元两种重建技术的实现方式,指出了目前超分辨技术存在的缺陷。最后,针对超分辨技术中无混淆重建带宽较窄的问题,提出了一种新的技术方案。该方案将光学编码技术与目前的亚像元技术相结合,可将重建带宽拓展3倍。研究结论指出:融合了光学,光电子学和信号处理的成像系统的综合设计,将是未来成像领域的一个重要研究方向。  相似文献

A novel method for the measurement of chromatic dispersion of an optical fiber based on wavelength-to-time mapping using a femtosecond pulse laser (FSPL) and an optical comb filter is proposed and experimentally evaluated. In the proposed approach, the spectrum of an ultrashort optical pulse generated by an FSPL is sliced by an optical comb filter. The spectrum-sliced optical pulse is then coupled into the optical fiber under test. Thanks to the chromatic-dispersion-induced wavelength-to-time mapping in the optical fiber under test, a time-domain waveform similar to the sliced spectrum is generated at the output of the optical fiber, with different frequency components having different time delays. The time delay vs. frequency data are then recorded for the estimation of the chromatic dispersion by using least square fitting. Chromatic dispersions of two types of optical fibers with different lengths are tested. The measured dispersion values agree well with those measured by the conventional modulation phase shift (MPS) method.  相似文献

An experiment on receiving and identifying multiple optical orthogonal codes (MOOC) sequence-based optical labels in an optical packet switching (OPS) network is reported. Two groups of MOOC with a code length of 23 and a code weight of 3 are used to identify the optical labels. The scheme and principle of OPS networks based on MOOC sequence-based optical labels are presented. Because optical labels contain OPS and routing information, the importance of optical label processing with multiple inconsecutive, random, and burst optical labels in an OPS network is pointed out. Considering the MOOC-based optical labels, we design a circuit consisting of a broadened network and a cascaded amplifier to receive multiple groups of low-power narrow pulses (optical labels in the MOOC-OPS network) with a period of 2 ns. The successful experimental results demonstrate that the designed scheme is feasible.  相似文献

A set of matrix methods treating decentred optical systems in the paraxial approximation is reviewed. Misalignment phenomena of optical systems can generally be described by an augmented 4×4 matrix; propagation of optical rays in an asymmetric, inhomogeneous medium by a 3×3 matrix. In order to simplify the operations with these matrices, ray transfer flow graphs are introduced.A lot of optical problems can be solved in a clear and simple manner, including optical arrays. A chip-scale optical link system is presented with a transmitter/receiver and optical wire link. The interchip link system consists of a metal optical bench, a printed circuit board module, a driver/receiver integrated circuit, a vertical cavity surface-emitting laser/photodiode array, and an optical wire link composed of plastic optical fibers (POFs). We have developed a downsized POF and an optical wiring method that allows on-site installation with a simple annealing as optical wiring technologies for achieving high-density optical interchip interconnection within such devices. Saturable optical resonators with distributed Bragg reflectors are analyzed by using the mode coupling theory. Hysteresis and nonlinear characteristics are given as a function of the absorption coefficient, the length of the absorber region, and the coupling coefficient of the corrugated waveguide. The calculated results show that the saturable optical resonator is useful as an optical gate, optical amplifier, and optical memory in integrated optical circuits.  相似文献

提出了一种新型的基于光电振荡器的重复频率可调谐的超低抖动光窄脉冲源. 光电振荡器系统可以产生超低相位噪声的微波信号; 被该信号调制的直调光经过两次相位调制之后, 使光脉冲的啁啾增强; 再通过一段色散补偿光纤, 光脉冲被进一步压窄. 实验中使用YIG可调滤波器, 可以得到8–12 GHz内步进为200 MHz的可调谐微波信号, 因此光脉冲的重复频率具有可调谐性. 当微波信号即脉冲重复频率为9.6 GHz时, 测得脉冲宽度为3.7 ps, 相位噪声为-130.1 dBc/Hz@10 kHz. 由此得出光脉冲的瞬时抖动为60.1 fs (100 Hz–1 MHz), 因此该方案产生的光窄脉冲源具有超低的抖动.  相似文献

On the basis of the generalized diffraction integral formula for misaligned optical systems in spatial domain, an analytical propagation expression for the elliptical cosh-Gaussian beam (EChGB) passing through misaligned optical systems is obtained by using vector integration. Some numerical simulations are illustrated for the propagation properties of an EChGB through a misaligned optical transforming system with a misaligned thin lens. As an application example, the propagation of off-axial EChGBs passing through misaligned optical systems is studied, and further extensions are also pointed out.  相似文献

微机电系统(MEMS)技术是一种新型制造技术,在光通信的发展中得到广泛的应用,有极大的市场价值.在整个光通信中,光开关是较为重要的光无源器件,在光网络系统中可对光信号进行选择性操作.随着光通信的日益发展,对光开关的技术要求也日益提高,利用MEMS技术制作的新型光开关具有体积小、重量轻、能耗低、集成化程度高等特点,从而日益成为研究的热点.本文简单介绍了MEMS技术和其主要特点,并较详细地阐述了MEMS技术在光通信中的应用,以及MEMS光开关的结构、发展趋势和目前存在的主要问题.  相似文献

Controlling chaos in an erbium-doped fiber dual-ring laser is studied by injecting an external light and shifting the phase of an optical feedback light. First, the parameters of the externally injected optical signal are adjusted to bring the chaotic laser into a single-period state and a multiperiod state, respectively. In addition, the single-mode locking in a single ring of the laser as well as the dual-mode locking in dual ring of the laser are found. Secondly, the method of optical feedback is used to stabilize chaos by controlling the parameters of the optical devices in an external optical path. We show that the optical negative feedback can stabilize the chaotic laser into a single-period state, while the optical positive feedback can stabilize the chaotic laser into another single-period state and a period-doubling state. Lastly, various dynamical states are produced in the laser by shifting the phase of the optical feedback light.  相似文献

Optical fibers may be applied in measurements of electrical current, particularly as so-called optical current transformers. Electric current sensors, in which optical fibers are used are small, light, cheap and safe. Their sensitivity is, however, due to the restricted magnetootpic properties of optical fibers, rather small. Moreover, these sensors are susceptible to deformations of the optical fiber. An increase of their sensitivity consists in lengthening the distance of optical fiber on which the magnetic field acts. However, this can lead to an increase of disturbances caused by changes of internal stresses. The negative effects can be reduced by applying optical fibers with a higher magnetooptic sensitivity and a lower susceptibility to mechanical stresses and deformations. The present paper deals with side-hole optical fibers with a decreased birefringence reducing the susceptibility to deformations. The optical fibers consist of a multicomponent glass with a higher value of the refractive index, thanks to which the sensitivity to the effect of the external magnetic field is increased. In future such optical fibers are planed to be applied in magnetooptic sensors.  相似文献

We report on a diode-laser-pumped cw Nd: YAG laser operating at a power level of 150 W. By using a transverse pump geometry, the radiation of 54 diode lasers with an output power of 10 W each is coupled into a Nd:YAG rod. In multimode operation, an optical slope efficiency of 32% and an optical to optical efficiency of 29% are obtained. In TEM00 operation, an output power of more than 30 W is realized with an optical to optical efficiency of 10%.  相似文献

The design of optical prism fingerprint scanner with aspheric lens is researched. We propose a modified structure for optical prism fingerprint scanner, which has an asymmetrical aspheric lens on the output plane. It is numerically shown under elliptic valley similar fingerprint model that the optical image qualities of such a scanner are better than the scanner with symmetrical aspheric lens. When the fingerprint range is 15 mm, the results show that the minimum image contrast is 0.49 for an optical prism with asymmetrical aspheric lens, much better than a symmetrical aspheric lens with 0.20. The relative illumination variation is from 0.62 to 1.00 for optical prism with asymmetrical aspheric lens, and for the symmetrical aspheric lens it is 0.35 to 1.00. We conclude that an optical prism with asymmetrical aspheric lens is better than an optical prism with symmetrical aspheric lens.  相似文献

The mutual intensity of the optical field in the Fraunhofer diffraction region produced from the end of an optical fibre under illumination of a coherent beam, is theoretically analysed by using an optical fibre-end source model. In this source model, the optical field at the end of the fibre is expressed as an aggregation of independent plane waves with random directions and phases, because the guided modes propagating through the fibre may be regarded as a stochastic process. It is found that the optical field in the diffraction region from the multimode optical fibre is not homogeneous butquasi homogeneous in a statistical sense. The spatial coherence properties in the field are discussed in connection with theV number (the normalized frequency) of the fibre and in comparison with those in the field produced from an incoherent source obeying the van Cittert-Zernike theorem.  相似文献

设计了一种新型的体全息光栅透镜, 在一块光学平板(体全息记录材料)内可以将输入光束产生横向传输并聚焦, 或对输入光点产生横传的准直. 它由一束平面波和一束球面波正交入射到光学平板上干涉形成的. 研究了该体全息透镜的光栅间距变化情况, 为设计和制备体全息光栅透镜及相关器件提供了理论依据. 基于两光束耦合波理论, 得到了该光栅透镜的耦合波方程, 近似计算了该透镜的衍射效率及其达到高衍射效率时透镜的最佳尺寸. 最后, 讨论了该透镜在集成光学等领域中的应用.  相似文献

The application of electron-beam lithography to the generation of diffractive optical elements topology is examined. The formula for the estimation of exposure data volume for variable-shaped electron-beam lithography is presented as a function of diffractive optical element parameters and approximation accuracy. A special software dedicated to preparing exposure data for fabrication of diffractive optical elements is developed. Diffractive optical elements with an artificial refractive index are manufactured with a feature size much less than the wavelength. Design and experimental results on photomasks fabrication for an optical element focusing radiation into a ring with pregiven parameters are presented. The photomask set is manufactured for a reflecting optical element focusing the high power CO2 laser beam into two points with required parameters for laser welding.  相似文献
