In this paper, a novel colorless wavelength division multiplexing-passive optical network (WDM-PON) system using injection locking and electro-absorption transceiver (EAT) is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. This system has advantages, high data transmission, small downlink signal effect to uplink signal and less polarization sensitivity, compared to the system using reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA). Downlink signal modulates the right side carrier of the double side band signal by using injection locking. EAT functions as both photo detector in downlink signal and modulator for uplink signal, simultaneously. A possible cross absorption modulation effect from the EAT is analyzed experimentally. Bidirectional transmission of 1.25 Gbps and 622 Mbps for downlink and uplink, respectively, were verified through 23 km standard single mode fiber (SSMF).  相似文献

In this contribution, we optimize design parameters of hybrid optical amplifiers utilizing distributed Raman amplification in transmission fiber and gain of discrete, remotely pumped erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) for wideband, bidirectional operation in metropolitan area networks (MAN). The design is based on an application of a numerical model, which takes into account pump-to-pump and signal-to-signal interactions and generation of amplified spontaneous emission in the Raman amplifier and solves the standard rate-propagation equations in an erbium-doped fiber (EDF). We predict 12 dB gain across 72 nm of optical bandwidth with gain ripple better than 10%. The recently proposed serial topology of EDFA is considered; this enables the wideband, bidirectional operation of a hybrid amplifier with only two pump laser diodes emitting in the 1430 and 1480 nm bands.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a bidirectional transmission, hybrid wired and wireless access network based on subcarrier modulation (SCM) techniques. The scheme simultaneously enables the dispersion-tolerant transmission of millimeter (mm)-wave signals for use in wireless access networks, downstream baseband signals for optical wired access networks, and optical continuous-wave (CW) carriers for use in upstream data remodulations. Error-free transmissions through a 25-km length of single mode fiber (SMF) for both the downstream baseband and the remodulated upstream signals are confirmed by bit-error-rate (BER) measurements. The dispersion tolerance of the radio-over-fiber (RoF) signal is assessed using numerical simulations.  相似文献

Abstract

This article presents a novel bidirectional wavelength reconfigurable optical network utilizing a remotely pumped erbium-doped fiber amplifier and tunable fiber Bragg gratings. The system is experimentally demonstrated at a 10-Gb/s per channel over 20-km fiber span that verifies the metro-network range system performance. The achieved power penalty is less than 1 dB when compared to the back-to-back transmission link. An example of practical application where the proposed module is used as an add/drop multiplexer and a remote node in the bidirectional wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network system is described.  相似文献

Chaos synchronization and message transmission between two semiconductor lasers with extremely unsymmetrical bidirectional injections (EUBIs) are discussed. By using EUBIs, synchronization is realized through injection locking. Numerical results show that if the laser subjected to strong injection serves as the receiver, chaos pass filtering (CPF) of the system is similar to that of unidirectional coupled systems. Moreover, if the other laser serves as the receiver, a stronger CPF can be obtained. Finally, we demonstrate that messages can be extracted successfully from either of the two transmission directions of the system.  相似文献

基于同一混沌信号光注入下两个1550 nm垂直腔面发射激光器 (VCSELs) 中两对应线性偏振模式之间的混沌同步, 提出了一种可实现信息的长距离双向双信道光纤混沌保密通信的系统模型, 并对该系统的同步、双向双信道通信以及光纤信道对信息传输的影响等性能进行了相关仿真研究. 结果表明: 在由驱动混沌激光器所产生的同一混沌光注入下, 两响应激光器中对应的两线偏振模式之间均可实现高质量的等时混沌同步, 且驱动激光器与两响应激光器间的同步系数较低; 基于两响应激光器之间对应线偏振模式的高质量混沌同步, 可实现双向双信道混沌通信; 采用单模保偏光纤 (或色散位移保偏光纤) 作为通信信道, 2.5 Gbit/s信息在传输60 km (或200 km) 后解调信息的Q因子能保持在6以上. 关键词: 垂直腔面发射激光器 (VCSELs) 双向双信道 混沌通信 光纤  相似文献

We investigate the principles of optical phase remodulation and demonstrate its application in a future-proof10 Gb/s/channel wavelength-division-multiplexed(WDM) passive optical network to realize a colorless optical network unit and bidirectional transmission over a single fiber. The modulation depth of downstream differential phase-shift keying is properly reduced to facilitate phase remodulation and Rayleigh noise mitigation. For both downstream and upstream 10 Gb/s signals, error-free transmission via a 20 km single-mode fiber is demonstrated without dispersion compensation operation.  相似文献

We demonstrate the long distance transmission of single-carrier frequency division multiple address signals by directly-modulated optically injection-locked vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser. Transmission distance as long as 50 km is achieved at 5 Gb/s (2.5 Gb/s for each user) through data pattern inversion and higher frequency response gain under optical injection locking.  相似文献

In this paper, a spectral efficient hybrid wireless optical broadband access network (WOBAN) is proposed and demonstrated based on the transmission of wireless multi-input multi-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO OFDM) signals over wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network (WDM PON). By using radio over fiber (ROF) techniques, the optical fiber is well adapted to propagate multiple wireless services having different carrier frequencies. It is a known fact that multiple wireless signals having the same carrier frequency cannot propagate over a single optical fiber at the same time, such as MIMO signals feeding multiple antennas in fiber wireless (FiWi) system. A novel optical single-sideband frequency translation technique is designed and simulated to solve this problem. This technique allows four pairs of wireless MIMO OFDM signals with the same carrier frequency for each pair to be transmitted over a single optical fiber by using one optical source per wavelength. The crosstalk between the different MIMO channels with the same frequency is eliminated, since each channel is upconverted on specified wavelength with enough channel spacing between them. Also the maximum crosstalk level between the different MIMO channels with different frequencies is very low around ?76 dB. The physical layer performance of the proposed WOBAN is analyzed in terms of the bit error rate (BER), error vector magnitude (EVM), and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The proposed WOBAN achieves 7.68 Gb/s data rate for 20 km for the optical back-end and 240 Mb/s for the outdoor wireless front-end.  相似文献

We propose a long-reach wavelength-division-multiplexed (WDM) passive optical network (PON) to provide conventional point-to-point (P2P) data and downstream broadcasting service simultaneously by superimposing, for each WDM channel, the differential-phase-shift-keying (DPSK) broadcasting signal with the subcarrier multiplexing (SCM) modulated downstream P2P signal, at the optical line terminal (OLT). In the optical network units (ONUs), by re-modulating part of the downstream signal with a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA), we realize color-less ONUs for upstream data transmission. The proposed scheme is numerically verified with a 5 Gb/s downstream P2P signal and broadcasting services, as well as 2.5 Gb/s upstream data through a 60 km bidirectional fiber link. In particular, the influence of the downstream lightwave's optical carrier–subcarrier ratio (OCSR) on the system performance is also investigated.  相似文献

A cost-saving, crosstalk-free and bidirectional optical add-drop multiplexer (B-OADM) based on cascaded thin-film optical add-drop filters (TFOADFs) with optical circulators as well as the optical protection function promptly restored at the access node for a single-fiber self-healing access ring network are proposed and demonstrated. Using this B-TFOADM configuration, no crosstalk appears on the dropped and added channels, respectively. The bit-error rate performances in this B-OADM are investigated in a 2.5-Gb/s DWDM system, showing no intraband and interband crosstalk-induced power penalties. Such crosstalk-free and bidirectional architecture greatly simplifies the hub complexity as well as the low-cost components at each node are employed.  相似文献

We propose a concept of wavelength synchronization to ensure the stability of ultra-dense channels in an ultra-dense wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network(UDWDM-PON)transmitter.A mode-locked laser is used to provide wavelength references for users.By injection locking the semiconductor laser,the separation of the wavelength reference is realized in an optical line terminal.The downlink and uplink wavelength references are interlaced and distributed to facilitate the synchronization of uplink carriers.In the optical network unit,the uplink optical carriers are filtered by injection locking semiconductor lasers,which achieve wavelength synchronization for the uplink users.In this Letter,an adaptive wavelength synchronization transmitter for UDWDM-PON is realized with a channel spacing of 5 GHz.  相似文献

提出了一种新颖的双向波分复用网络结构,由多个分插复用器通过单模光纤连接而成。其中,分插复用器是基于声光效应和光纤布拉格光栅的反射特性制成的。由理论分析和实验得到的结果表明,该器件可实现一定数量信道的光信号的双向分插复用。这种双向波分复用光网络可按要求进行设计,使具有某种特征波长的光信号在设定位置的分插复用器中实现分插复用,使其按所设计的光路在波分复用网络中传输。  相似文献

以无压缩全高清视频的光载无线传输为背景,通过研究宽带射频光子下转换技术,从而构建全高清视频的实时传输系统,其中下转换系统主要基于光电振荡器实现.由于光电振荡器的注入锁定,光微波信号中的载波信号被提取出来,并反馈至调制器,与宽带光微波信号混频,在光域实现信号下转换.实验论证了载频为10GHz,码率大于2Gb/s的信号下转换和有线无线传输.利用天线和光纤实现了距离为0.5m的无线分发和距离为10km的有线传输.本文还成功实现了1.5Gb/s无压缩高清视频信号的实时传输.实验结果表明,该系统具有大带宽、抗电磁干扰等优点,同时利用光电振荡器的自动相位跟踪技术,无须外加锁相等操作.整个下转换系统简单稳定,为高清视频的有线无线传输提供了论证和演示平台.  相似文献

A novel technique for optical injection locking of two semiconductor lasers through high-order Brillouin Stokes components in optical fiber is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The configuration potentially provides microwave signals generation at manifold Brillouin frequency without high-frequency external modulator and generator.
