Multimode resonance bandpass filter with twin wideband channels

A bandpass filter with twin wideband channels in a single-layer guided-mode resonance grating is presented.Strong refractive-index modulation is used to support the excitation of multimode resonances TE1,0,TE1,1,TE2,0,TE1,2,and TE2,1,which are excited by the first and second diffraction orders,relate asymmetrical line shapes and broad low-transmission bands,where TE is the transverse electric.Taking advantage of narrow linewidth and sharp edge line shape in the spectra of TE2,υ(v is the mode),a bandpass filter with form factors of 0.61 and 0.7 for long-and short-wave channels is presented to demonstrate this concept.     

基于磁光子晶体的磁控可调谐太赫兹滤波器和开关

本文研究了铁氧体磁性材料应用于太赫兹波导器件的可行性. 利用铁氧体磁性材料的磁导率随外磁场改变而变化的性质,设计出了一种新颖的磁控连续可调谐太赫兹滤波器和开关. 利用平面波展开法(plane wave expansion,PWE)和时域有限差分法(finite difference time domain,FDTD)计算了二维磁光子晶体中外磁场变化对带隙位置和宽度的影响,结果显示应用该结构实现的滤波器和开关具有良好的性能. 关键词： 磁光子晶体 铁氧体 太赫兹     

Periodically Poled Titanium-Diffused Lithium Niobate Wavelength Filters Utilizing Šolc-Type TE↔TM Mode Converters

Abstract

?olc-type wavelength filters have been demonstrated in a 52-mm long periodically poled titanium-diffused lithium niobate channel waveguide with a domain period of 16.6 μm. At room temperature, the center wavelength and the full-width at half maximum of the filter were about 1,272.49 nm and 0.23 nm, respectively. The nearest side-lobe is about 7 dB. New structures of flat-top bandpass filters and an optical add/drop multiplexer utilizing ?olc-type TE?TM mode converters are proposed for the first time.     

Design of 40 GHz-Band Iris-Type Waveguide Bandpass Filter

In this paper, a design method of an iris-coupled waveguide bandpass filter having 0.1 dB passband ripple and 3.5% ripple bandwidth at the center frequency of 41 GHz is described. Mode matching method is used to analyze H-plane discontinuity of waveguide and an equivalent circuit of the thick inductive obstacle is obtained from the results of the analysis. Simulation and experimental results show the validity of waveguide bandpass filter design method using mode matching method.     

阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器的传输效率

在光波导模场分布高斯近似条件下,根据星形光波导耦合器的耦合特性,推导出了基于累加运算和卷积运算近似表达的阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器光谱响应效率的函数表达式。给出了阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器光谱响应效率曲线的半最大值全宽度和阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器的通道中心波长的光谱响应度与器件参数的关系。在输入信号光谱分布高斯近似条件下,给出了阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器信号通道传输效率的计算表达式和输入信号光谱宽度对阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器信号通道输出特性的影响。给出了物理意义明确的函数表达式,它们可为快速分析阵列波导光栅梳状带通滤波器的特性提供理论基础。     

A rigorous cad of millimeter wave bandpass filter with all-metal insert in waveguide

In this paper, a bandpass filter with all-metal insert, an inductive strip in the E-plane of a waveguide is analyzed by a prototype filter and the scattering matrix of the strip is calculated by electromagnetic fields theory theoretically. By means of matrix combining technique, the scattering matrix of a bandpass filter of this type is obtained. And a rigourous error function is used to optimize the CAD program by Powell's method and make the experimental results agree well with the theory design at V-band.     

Transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) X-ray guided modes in a two-layer crystalline heterostructure: A comparison

Polarization effects upon Bragg-case hard X-ray dynamical diffraction in a two-layer crystalline heterostructure waveguide have been investigated with the help of numerical modeling. A difference is shown to exist in both intensities and excitation conditions between TE (transverse electric) and TM (transverse magnetic) X-ray guided modes that are inherent to the waveguide. A comparison of σ- and π-polarized X-ray reflectivity curves from such a waveguide is performed. Possibilities for the experimental excitation of the TE and TM X-ray guided modes are discussed.     

Dual-band frequency selective surface with quasi-elliptic bandpass response

Based on the substrate integrated waveguide technology,we present a dual-band frequency selective surface(FSS) with a quasi-elliptic bandpass response.The characteristics of the quasi-elliptic bandpass response are realized by shunting two substrate integrated waveguide cavities of different sizes,with the same slots on both sides of the metal surfaces.Four cavities of different sizes and two slots of different sizes are used to design the novel FSS.Every bandpass response with sharp sidebands is induced by two transmission nulls that are generated by the coupling between the slot aperture resonance and the cavity resonance.The simulation results show that such dual-band FSS has the advantages of high selectivity and stable performance at different oblique incident angles.Moreover,it is easy to fabricate.     

高温超导窄带广义切比雪夫函数滤波器

提出了一种用于高温超导滤波器制作的新结构——窄带广义切比雪夫函数高、低通滤波器级联方式．该方式利用高温超导低插损特性，可以有效地降低极陡峭广义切比雪夫函数低通、高通滤波器的带边频滚降．依靠高、低通滤波器级联方式构建新形式的窄带极陡峭低插损高温超导滤波器．并与已有高温超导滤波器进行了比较分析．     

A novel polarization channel drop filter based on two-dimensional photonic crystals

<正>A novel polarization channel drop filter(PCDF) based on two-dimensional(2D) photonic crystals(PCs) is presented.It consists of two line defect waveguides and two point defect micro-cavities.In the line-defect waveguides,the transverse-electric(TE) and transverse-magnetic(TM) polarization lights are guided using photonic band-gap and total internal reflection effect,respectively.The light at the resonant frequency for TE polarization can be transferred from one waveguide to the other using the proposed system.Compared with the existing four-port PCDF based on PCs,the three-port structure can realize a multi-channel wavelength system of PCDF more easily and can be an essential device in future polarization wavelength division multiplexing(PWDM) systems.     

0.34 THz频率选择表面带通滤波器设计

为满足太赫兹通信的需求,基于薄膜工艺和双层级联的结构,设计了一种0.34THz频率选择表面带通滤波器。利用等效电路模型分析了该滤波器的频率特性,通过仿真研究了入射角对该结构频率特性的影响,显示水平极化条件下其在低于45°入射角范围内具有较好的性能。最终按照所评估的误差容忍度加工了Jerusalem十字单元的频率选择表面样片,并进行了频率传输特性的测试与分析,结果表明:该滤波器具有较好的滤波特性。     

Transmission characteristics of photonic crystal waveguides with stubs and their application to optical filters

We study the transmission characteristics of a photonic crystal waveguide with a single stub of a finite length and propose a double-stub waveguide structure for its application to optical filters. The proposed device operates as a Fabry-Perot interferometer and can be used as a broad bandstop filter and a narrow bandpass filter. These filters are inherently compact and their center frequency is given by the resonant frequency of the stub.     

Guided-mode resonance Brewster filter

A new type of optical filter is predicted theoretically and verified experimentally. The filter operates under guided-mode resonance conditions in a thin-film waveguide grating. A high-efficiency reflection filter response is produced at the Brewster angle at which TM reflection is classically prohibited. Low-reflectance sidebands are obtained that are adjacent to the resonance peak induced by the Brewster effect in the neighborhood of the resonance peak. A double-layer waveguide grating yields 94% experimental reflectance at the thin-film Brewster angle for a Gaussian laser beam with TM polarization at the 1064-nm wavelength.     

Bandpass filter with adjustable bandwidth based on a press-induced long-period twisted holey-fiber grating

A bandpass filter with adjustable bandwidth based on a press-induced long-period grating in a twisted holey fiber is presented. By twisting the holey fiber prior to the application of periodic pressure, each rejection band of the nontwisted induced long-period grating is split into two shifted rejection bands that move further apart as the twist ratio increases. This feature results in a wide bandpass filter with controllable bandwidth. A bandpass filter at 1523 nm with adjustable bandwidth from 15 to 65 nm with near-linear response and insertion loss lower than 0.7 dB is demonstrated. Additionally, the bandpass filter can be tuned over 100 nm.     

Design of a polarization-insensitive arrayed waveguide grating demultiplexer based on silicon photonic wires

The polarization dependence of an arrayed waveguide grating demultiplexer based on Si photonic wires is analyzed. The height and width of the arrayed waveguides are optimized to make the channel spacing polarization insensitive. To make the central wavelength polarization insensitive, different diffraction orders are chosen for TE and TM polarizations, and the remaining polarization-dependent wavelength is compensated with a noncentral input. A detailed design procedure is presented and numerical simulation results are given.

对于傍轴光束，提出了介质平面波导衍射场的近场模场半宽度、远场发散角半宽度和光束传输因子M^2等光束参量之间满足简单的关系式，三个光束参量均可直接由波导模式场分布精确计算，或由可实际精确测量的远场衍射频谱分布精确计算。M^2因子的计算公式可表述为以二阶矩和微分算子定义的近场模场半宽度的比值，或以二阶矩和微分算子定义的远场发散角半宽度的比值。最后推导出介质平面波导TE0模衍射场光束参量的解析函数和光束参量的范围。     

Field Patterns of the TE Modes in Ridge-Trough Waveguide

A single-ridge waveguide with a symmetrical longitudinal trough, designated as a ridge-trough waveguide has been used as a transition in a V-band (50-75 GHz) wafer probe recently. In this paper, the field patterns for the dominant TE mode and the first higher TE mode in ridge-trough waveguide with different configurations are presented by finite element method. The field patterns in this paper have important values for us to understand the transmission characteristics of ridge-trough waveguide, and will be of practical significance in designing ridge-trough waveguide components in microwave and millimeter wave engineering.     

Nonpolarizing and tunable perpendicular dual-grating guided-mode resonance filter

A perpendicular dual-grating (PDG) guided-mode resonance filter was constructed by placing two identical waveguide gratings close to and their grooves perpendicular to each other. Multilayer waveguide theory was used to estimate the resonant wavelength for the TE and TM polarization incidences, and the rigorous coupled wave analysis (RCWA) was used to investigate the resonant wavelength, the lineshape and linewidth of the resonant peaks for arbitrary polarization incidences. The filter presents identical spectral characteristics for normally incident wave with arbitrary polarization. The separation of the resonant reflection peaks corresponding to the TE₀ and TM₀ split modes were realized by properly selecting the geometrical and material parameters of the grating layers and the waveguide layers. Measurement of the nano air gap between 0 and 0.4 p by determining one of the two resonant reflection peaks of the TE₀/TM₀ split modes was achieved without being interfered by the TM₀/TE₀ split modes.     

折叠半模基片集成波导在滤波器和均衡器中的应用

提出了一种数学建模方法用来分析折叠半模基片集成波导(FHMSIW)结构的场分布。基于多线理论首次计算了FHMSIW结构的衰减常数和相位常数,验证其与传统波导和基片集成波导的等效性。提出了FHMSIW结构具有高通特性和带阻特性,同时该结构的上下层具有近似奇对称的性质。通过在FHMSIW结构的中间金属层蚀刻缝隙或者添加金属过孔,就可以实现器件由带通到带阻的性能转换,给出了FHMSIW结构带阻、带通特性的产生和变换机理。利用其独特的性质,分别设计了等效HMSIW四分之一谐振枝节加载的FHMSIW均衡器和FHMSIW带通滤波器,设计的FHMSIW均衡器无需附加额外的馈电机制。测量结果显示出器件具有良好的性能,与仿真结果具有很好的一致性。相比于其他的平面电路,该设计的结构具有小型化、低损耗以及高Q值等优势。     

Effects of metal irises on the guided-mode properties in asymmetrical slab waveguides

The diffraction phenomenon caused by metal transverse irises placed into an asymmetrical slab waveguide is examined by using the integral equation method. We concentrate on the possibility of controlling the radiation characteristics of the structure by changing the irises positions and the slab waveguide asymmetry. The aperture electric-field distribution is expressed in terms of a finite series of Chebyshev polynomials. The dominant TE guided-mode reflection and transmission coefficients, the near-field distribution and the far-field radiation pattern are calculated, while numerical results are presented for several cases of asymmetrical slab waveguides and different irises’ positions.
