An Extension of Set-Valued Contraction Principle for Mappings on a Metric Space with a Graph and Application

In this paper, we obtain an existence theorem for fixed points of contractive set-valued mappings on a metric space endowed with a graph. This theorem unifies and extends several fixed point theorems for mappings on metric spaces and for mappings on metric spaces endowed with a graph. As an application, we obtain a theorem on the convergence of successive approximations for some linear operators on an arbitrary Banach space. This result yields the well-known Kelisky–Rivlin theorem on iterates of the Bernstein operators on C[0,1].     

Existence and convergence theorems for generalized hybrid mappings in uniformly convex metric spaces

In this paper, we show a relationship between strictly convexity of type (I) and (II) defined by Takahashi and Talman, and we prove that any uniformly convex metric space is strictly convex of type (II). Continuity of the convex structure is also shown on a compact domain. Then, we prove the existence of a minimum point of a convex, lower semicontinuous and d-coercive function defined on a nonempty closed convex subset of a complete uniformly convex metric space. By using this property, we prove fixed point theorems for (α, β)-generalized hybrid mappings in uniformly convex metric spaces. Using this result, we also obtain a common fixed point theorem for a countable commutative family of (α, β)-generalized hybrid mappings in uniformly convex metric spaces. Finally, we establish strong convergence of a Mann type iteration to a fixed point of (α, β)-generalized hybrid mapping in a uniformly convex metric space without assuming continuity of convex structure. Our results can be applied to obtain the existence and convergence theorems for (α, β)-generalized hybrid mappings in Hilbert spaces, uniformly convex Banach spaces and CAT(0) spaces.     

Symmetric Solutions of Nonlinear Fractional Integral Equations via a New Fixed Point Theorem under FG-Contractive Condition

We set up the existence of a symmetric outcome of a system of simultaneous nonlinear fractional integral equations, that arises in motion of water wave on smooth surface, with the help of a common fixed point theorem satisfying a generalized FG-contractive condition. To accomplish this, we introduce first the concept of generalized FG-contractive condition for two pairs of self-mappings in a complete metric space and then we establish requisites for common fixed point results for weakly compatible mappings followed by a suitable example.     

Controlled fuzzy metric spaces and some related fixed point results

In this paper, we introduce a new extension in the subject of fuzzy metric, called controlled fuzzy metric space. This notion is a generalization of fuzzy b‐metric space. Also, we prove a Banach‐type fixed point theorem and a new fixed point theorem for some self‐mappings satisfying fuzzy ψ ‐contraction condition that is more general than existing theorems. Furthermore, we establish some examples about our main results.     

Approximation of common fixed points for a countable family of relatively nonexpansive mappings in a Banach space and applications

In this paper, we prove a strong convergence theorem by the hybrid method for a countable family of relatively nonexpansive mappings in a Banach space. We also establish a new control condition for the sequence of mappings {T_n} which is weaker than the control condition in Lemma 3.1 of Aoyama et al. [K. Aoyama, Y. Kimura, W. Takahashi and M. Toyoda, Approximation of common fixed points of a countable family of nonexpansive mappings in a Banach space, Nonlinear Anal. 67 (2007) 2350-2360]. Moreover, we apply our results for finding a common fixed point of two relatively nonexpansive mappings in a Banach space and an element of the set of solutions of an equilibrium problem in a Banach space, respectively. Our results are applicable to a wide class of mappings.

KKM property and fixed point theorems in metric spaces

In this paper, first part, we establish some fixed point theorems for a k-set contraction map on the nearly-subadmissible subsets of a complete metric space. The second part, we deduce a generalization of the approximate fixed point theorem for the lower semicontinuous mappings on a metric space.     

Fixed point results on a metric space endowed with a finite number of graphs and applications

In this paper, we consider self-mappings defined on a metric space endowed with a finite number of graphs. Under certain conditions imposed on the graphs, we establish a new fixed point theorem for such mappings. The obtained result extends, generalizes and improves many existing contributions in the literature including standard fixed point theorems, fixed point theorems on a metric space endowed with a partial order and fixed point theorems for cyclic mappings.     

Applications of uniform asymptotic regularity to fixed point theorems

In this paper, we show that there are no nontrivial surjective uniformly asymptotically regular mappings acting on a metric space, and we derive some consequences of this fact. In particular, we prove that a jointly continuous left amenable or left reversible semigroup generated by firmly nonexpansive mappings on a bounded \({\tau}\)-compact subset of a Banach space has a common fixed point, and we give a qualitative complement to the Markov–Kakutani theorem.     

Common fixed points and invariant approximation of <Emphasis Type="Italic">R</Emphasis>-subweakly commuting maps in convex metric spaces

Sufficient conditions for the existence of a common fixed point of R-subweakly commuting mappings are established within the framework of a convex metric space. As applications, we obtain various results on the best approximation for this class of mappings generalizing the results known from the literature.     

Convergence theorem of common fixed points for a family of nonspreading mappings in Hilbert space

We introduce the concept of K-mapping of a finite family of nonspreading mappings {T_i}_i=1^N{\{T_i\}_{i=1}^N} and we show that the fixed point set of the K-mapping is the set of common fixed points of {T_i}_i=1^N{\{T_i\}_{i=1}^N}. Moreover, we prove strong convergence theorem of the Ishikawa iterative process to a common fixed point of a finite family of nonspreading mappings in Hilbert space under certain control conditions.

Coincidence and common fixed point results on metric spaces endowed with an arbitrary binary relation and applications

In this paper, we establish coincidence and common fixed point theorems for contractive mappings on a metric space endowed with an amorphous binary relation. The presented theorems extend the results of Samet and Turinici in [Commun. Math. Anal. 12 (2012), 82– 97] and generalize many existing results on metric and ordered metric spaces. We apply also our main results to derive coincidence and common fixed point theorems for cyclic contractive mappings.     

Approximation of coincidence points and common fixed points of a collection of mappings of metric spaces

On a complete metric space X, we solve the problem of constructing an algorithm (in general, nonunique) of successive approximations from any point in space to a given closed subsetA. We give an estimate of the distance from an arbitrary initial point to the corresponding limit points. We consider three versions of the subset A: (1) A is the complete preimage of a closed subspace H under a mapping from X into the metric space Y; (2) A is the set of coincidence points of n (n > 1) mappings from X into Y; (3) A is the set of common fixed points of n mappings of X into itself (n = 1, 2, …). The problems under consideration are stated conveniently in terms of a multicascade, i.e., of a generalized discrete dynamical system with phase space X, translation semigroup equal to the additive semigroup of nonnegative integers, and the limit set A. In particular, in case (2) for n = 2, we obtain a generalization of Arutyunov’s theorem on the coincidences of two mappings. In case (3) for n = 1, we obtain a generalization of the contraction mapping principle.     

A new iterative scheme for a countable family of relatively nonexpansive mappings and an equilibrium problem in Banach spaces

In this paper, we construct a new iterative scheme and prove strong convergence theorem for approximation of a common fixed point of a countable family of relatively nonexpansive mappings, which is also a solution to an equilibrium problem in a uniformly convex and uniformly smooth real Banach space. We apply our results to approximate fixed point of a nonexpansive mapping, which is also solution to an equilibrium problem in a real Hilbert space and prove strong convergence of general H-monotone mappings in a uniformly convex and uniformly smooth real Banach space. Our results extend many known recent results in the literature.     

On Fuzzy Metric Space

In this paper we prove a common fixed point theorem for three mappings in fuzzy metric space and then extend this result to fuzzy 2 and 3-metric spaces. Our theorem is an extension of result of Fisher [12], to fuzzy metric spaces.AMS Subject Classification (1990): 47H10, 54H25

Fixed point of contractive mappings in generalized metric spaces

We prove a fixed point theorem for contractive mappings of Boyd and Wong type in generalized metric spaces, a concept recently introduced in [BRANCIARI, A.: A fixed point theorem of Banach-Caccioppoli type on a class of generalized metric spaces, Publ. Math. Debrecen 57 (2000), 31–37].      

Coupled fixed point results for nonlinear integral equations

In this paper, we prove some coupled coincidence point theorems for such nonlinear contraction mappings having a mixed monotone property in partially ordered metric spaces by dropping the condition of commutative. We also prove coupled common fixed point theorem for w-compatible mappings. An example of a nonlinear contraction mapping which is not applied by Lakshmikantham and ?iri?’s theorem [1] but applied by our result is given. Further, we apply our results to the existence theorem for solution of nonlinear integral equations.     

Common fixed points of a nonexpansive semigroup and a convergence theorem for Mann iterations in geodesic metric spaces

First, we consider a strongly continuous semigroup of nonexpansive mappings defined on a closed convex subset of a complete CAT(0) space and prove a convergence of a Mann iteration to a common fixed point of the mappings. This result is motivated by a result of Kirk (2002) and of Suzuki (2002). Second, we obtain a result on limits of subsequences of Mann iterations of multivalued nonexpansive mappings on metric spaces of hyperbolic type, which leads to a convergence theorem for nonexpansive mappings on these spaces.
