In the paper, we apply the generalized polynomial chaos expansion and spectral methods to the Burgers equation with a random perturbation on its left boundary condition. Firstly, the stochastic Galerkin method combined with the Legendre–Galerkin Chebyshev collocation scheme is adopted, which means that the original equation is transformed to the deterministic nonlinear equations by the stochastic Galerkin method and the Legendre–Galerkin Chebyshev collocation scheme is used to deal with the resulting nonlinear equations. Secondly, the stochastic Legendre–Galerkin Chebyshev collocation scheme is developed for solving the stochastic Burgers equation; that is, the stochastic Legendre–Galerkin method is used to discrete the random variable meanwhile the nonlinear term is interpolated through the Chebyshev–Gauss points. Then a set of deterministic linear equations can be obtained, which is in contrast to the other existing methods for the stochastic Burgers equation. The mean square convergence of the former method is analyzed. Numerical experiments are performed to show the effectiveness of our two methods. Both methods provide alternative approaches to deal with the stochastic differential equations with nonlinear terms.  相似文献

In this article, our main goal is to render an idea to convert a nonlinear weakly singular Volterra integral equation to a non‐singular one by new fractional‐order Legendre functions. The fractional‐order Legendre functions are generated by change of variable on well‐known shifted Legendre polynomials. We consider a general form of singular Volterra integral equation of the second kind. Then the fractional Legendre–Gauss–Lobatto quadratures formula eliminates the singularity of the kernel of the integral equation. Finally, the Legendre pseudospectral method reduces the solution of this problem to the solution of a system of algebraic equations. This method also can be utilized on fractional differential equations as well. The comparison of results of the presented method and other numerical solutions shows the efficiency and accuracy of this method. Also, the obtained maximum error between the results and exact solutions shows that using the present method leads to accurate results and fast convergence for solving nonlinear weakly singular Volterra integral equations. The paper is devoted to the investigation of a parabolic partial differential equation with non‐local and time‐dependent boundary conditions arising from ductal carcinoma in situ model. Approximation solution of the present problem is implemented by the Ritz–Galerkin method, which is a first attempt at tackling parabolic equation with such non‐classical boundary conditions. In the process of dealing with the difficulty caused by integral term in non‐local boundary condition, we use a trick of introducing the transition function G(x,t) to convert non‐local boundary to another non‐classical boundary, which can be handled with the Ritz–Galerkin method. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique in this paper. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, we apply the dual reciprocity boundary elements method for the numerical solution of two‐dimensional linear and nonlinear time‐fractional modified anomalous subdiffusion equations and time‐fractional convection–diffusion equation. The fractional derivative of problems is described in the Riemann–Liouville and Caputo senses. We employ the linear radial basis function for interpolation of the nonlinear, inhomogeneous and time derivative terms. This method is improved by using a predictor–corrector scheme to overcome the nonlinearity which appears in the nonlinear problems under consideration. The accuracy and efficiency of the proposed schemes are checked by five test problems. The proposed method is employed for solving some examples in two dimensions on unit square and also in complex regions to demonstrate the efficiency of the new technique. We present a high‐order spectral element method (SEM) using modal (or hierarchical) basis for modeling of some nonlinear second‐order partial differential equations in two‐dimensional spatial space. The discretization is based on the conforming spectral element technique in space and the semi‐implicit or the explicit finite difference formula in time. Unlike the nodal SEM, which is based on the Lagrange polynomials associated with the Gauss–Lobatto–Legendre or Chebyshev quadrature nodes, the Lobatto polynomials are used in this paper as modal basis. Using modal bases due to their orthogonal properties enables us to exactly obtain the elemental matrices provided that the element‐wise mapping has the constant Jacobian. The difficulty of implementation of modal approximations for nonlinear problems is treated in this paper by expanding the nonlinear terms in the weak form of differential equations in terms of the Lobatto polynomials on each element using the fast Fourier transform (FFT). Utilization of the Fourier interpolation on equidistant points in the FFT algorithm and the enough polynomial order of approximation of the nonlinear terms can lead to minimize the aliasing error. Also, this approach leads to finding numerical solution of a nonlinear differential equation through solving a system of linear algebraic equations. Numerical results for some famous nonlinear equations illustrate efficiency, stability and convergence properties of the approximation scheme, which is exponential in space and up to third‐order in time. The paper deals with the three‐dimensional Dirichlet boundary value problem (BVP) for a second‐order strongly elliptic self‐adjoint system of partial differential equations in the divergence form with variable coefficients and develops the integral potential method based on a localized parametrix. Using Green's representation formula and properties of the localized layer and volume potentials, we reduce the Dirichlet BVP to a system of localized boundary‐domain integral equations. The equivalence between the Dirichlet BVP and the corresponding localized boundary‐domain integral equation system is studied. We establish that the obtained localized boundary‐domain integral operator belongs to the Boutet de Monvel algebra. With the help of the Wiener–Hopf factorization method, we investigate corresponding Fredholm properties and prove invertibility of the localized operator in appropriate Sobolev (Bessel potential) spaces. We construct and analyze a family of well‐conditioned boundary integral equations for the Krylov iterative solution of three‐dimensional elastic scattering problems by a bounded rigid obstacle. We develop a new potential theory using a rewriting of the Somigliana integral representation formula. From these results, we generalize to linear elasticity the well‐known Brakhage–Werner and combined field integral equation formulations. We use a suitable approximation of the Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann map as a regularizing operator in the proposed boundary integral equations. The construction of the approximate Dirichlet‐to‐Neumann map is inspired by the on‐surface radiation conditions method. We prove that the associated integral equations are uniquely solvable and possess very interesting spectral properties. Promising analytical and numerical investigations, in terms of spherical harmonics, with the elastic sphere are provided. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop a new, simple, and accurate scheme to obtain approximate solution for nonlinear differential equation in the sense of Caputo‐Fabrizio operator. To derive this new predictor‐corrector scheme, which suits on Caputo‐Fabrizio operator, firstly, we obtain the corresponding initial value problem for the differential equation in the Caputo‐Fabrizio sense. Hence, by fractional Euler method and fractional trapeziodal rule, we obtain the predictor formula as well as corrector formula. Error analysis for this new method is derived. To test the validity and simplicity of this method, some illustrative examples for nonlinear differential equations are solved.  相似文献

In this article, we consider a nonlinear partial differential system describing two‐phase transports and try to recover the source term and the nonlinear diffusion term when the state variable is known at different profile times. To this end, we use a POD‐Galerkin procedure in which the proper orthogonal decomposition technique is applied to the ensemble of solutions to derive empirical eigenfunctions. These empirical eigenfunctions are then used as basis functions within a Galerkin method to transform the partial differential equation into a set of ordinary differential equations. Finally, the validation of the used method has been evaluated by some numerical examples. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 23: 456–474, 2007  相似文献

In this article, the Ritz‐Galerkin method in Bernstein polynomial basis is implemented to give an approximate solution of a hyperbolic partial differential equation with an integral condition. We will deal here with a type of nonlocal boundary value problem, that is, the solution of a hyperbolic partial differential equation with a nonlocal boundary specification. The nonlocal conditions arise mainly when the data on the boundary cannot be measured directly. The properties of Bernstein polynomial and Ritz‐Galerkin method are first presented, then Ritz‐Galerkin method is used to reduce the given hyperbolic partial differential equation to the solution of algebraic equations. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique presented in this article. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A second‐order finite difference/pseudospectral scheme is proposed for numerical approximation of multi‐term time fractional diffusion‐wave equation with Neumann boundary conditions. The scheme is based upon the weighted and shifted Grünwald difference operators approximation of the time fractional calculus and Gauss‐Lobatto‐Legendre‐Birkhoff (GLLB) pseudospectral method for spatial discretization. The unconditionally stability and convergence of the scheme are rigorously proved. Numerical examples are carried out to verify theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, the meshless local Petrov–Galerkin approximation is proposed to solve the 2‐D nonlinear Klein–Gordon equation. We used the moving Kriging interpolation instead of the MLS approximation to construct the meshless local Petrov–Galerkin shape functions. These shape functions possess the Kronecker delta function property. The Heaviside step function is used as a test function over the local sub‐domains. Here, no mesh is needed neither for integration of the local weak form nor for construction of the shape functions. So the present method is a truly meshless method. We employ a time‐stepping method to deal with the time derivative and a predictor–corrector scheme to eliminate the nonlinearity. Several examples are performed and compared with analytical solutions and with the results reported in the extant literature to illustrate the accuracy and efficiency of the presented method. We analyze two collocation schemes for the Helmholtz equation with depth‐dependent sonic wave velocity, modeling time‐harmonic acoustic wave propagation in a three‐dimensional inhomogeneous ocean of finite height. Both discretization schemes are derived from a periodized version of the Lippmann‐Schwinger integral equation that equivalently describes the sound wave. The eigenfunctions of the corresponding periodized integral operator consist of trigonometric polynomials in the horizontal variables and eigenfunctions to some Sturm‐Liouville operator linked to the background profile of the sonic wave velocity in the vertical variable. Applying an interpolation projection onto a space spanned by finitely many of these eigenfunctions to either the unknown periodized wave field or the integral operator yields two different collocation schemes. A convergence estimate of Sloan [J. Approx. Theory, 39:97–117, 1983] on non‐polynomial interpolation allows to show converge of both schemes, together with algebraic convergence rates depending on the smoothness of the inhomogeneity and the source. In this article, we propose and analyze a new mixed variational formulation for the stationary Boussinesq problem. Our method, which uses a technique previously applied to the Navier–Stokes equations, is based first on the introduction of a modified pseudostress tensor depending nonlinearly on the velocity through the respective convective term. Next, the pressure is eliminated, and an augmented approach for the fluid flow, which incorporates Galerkin‐type terms arising from the constitutive and equilibrium equations, and from the Dirichlet boundary condition, is coupled with a primal‐mixed scheme for the main equation modeling the temperature. In this way, the only unknowns of the resulting formulation are given by the aforementioned nonlinear pseudostress, the velocity, the temperature, and the normal derivative of the latter on the boundary. An equivalent fixed‐point setting is then introduced and the corresponding classical Banach Theorem, combined with the Lax–Milgram Theorem and the Babu?ka–Brezzi theory, are applied to prove the unique solvability of the continuous problem. In turn, the Brouwer and the Banach fixed‐point theorems are used to establish existence and uniqueness of solution, respectively, of the associated Galerkin scheme. In particular, Raviart–Thomas spaces of order k for the pseudostress, continuous piecewise polynomials of degree ≤ k+1 for the velocity and the temperature, and piecewise polynomials of degree ≤ k for the boundary unknown become feasible choices. Finally, we derive optimal a priori error estimates, and provide several numerical results illustrating the good performance of the augmented mixed‐primal finite element method and confirming the theoretical rates of convergence. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Klein–Gordon equation models many phenomena in both physics and applied mathematics. In this paper, a coupled method of Laplace transform and Legendre wavelets, named (LLWM), is presented for the approximate solutions of nonlinear Klein–Gordon equations. By employing Laplace operator and Legendre wavelets operational matrices, the Klein–Gordon equation is converted into an algebraic system. Hence, the unknown Legendre wavelets coefficients are calculated in the form of series whose components are computed by applying a recursive relation. Block pulse functions are used to calculate the Legendre wavelets coefficient vectors of nonlinear terms. The convergence analysis of the LLWM is discussed. The results show that LLWM is very effective and easy to implement. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A Legendre pseudospectral method is proposed for solving approximately an inverse problem of determining an unknown control parameter p(t) which is the coefficient of the solution u(x, y, z, t) in a diffusion equation in a three‐dimensional region. The diffusion equation is to be solved subject to suitably prescribed initial‐boundary conditions. The presence of the unknown coefficient p(t) requires an extra condition. This extra condition considered as the integral overspecification over the spacial domain. For discretizing the problem, after homogenization of the boundary conditions, we apply the Legendre pseudospectral method in a matrix based manner. As a results a system of nonlinear differential algebraic equations is generated. Then by using suitable transformation, the problem will be converted to a homogeneous time varying system of linear ordinary differential equations. Also a pseudospectral method for efficient solving of the resulted system of ordinary differential equations is proposed. The solution of this system gives the approximation to values of u and p. The matrix based structure of the present method makes it easy to implement. Numerical experiments are presented to demonstrate the accuracy and the efficiency of the proposed computational procedure. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
