In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior and the analyticity of the solutions of the one-dimensional porous-elasticity problem with thermal effect. Our main result is to prove the lack of exponential stability in case of the porous-elasticity with thermal effect when viscoelasticity is present. We prove the analyticity of the problem when a porous viscosity is present. We conclude by showing the impossibility of localization in time of the solutions in the isothermal case.  相似文献

After a discussion of the importance of stability and instability for complex systems theory, we define the concept of virtual stability as a state in which a system employs self‐monitoring and adaptive control to maintain itself in a configuration that would otherwise be unstable. The energy expended in this gains the system an increase in its flexibility of behavioral response to environmental changes. A model designed to illustrate virtual stability is presented, followed by a brief discussion of the evolutionary advantage this capacity provides. This leads to the suggestion that such advantage gives an argument both for the directionality of evolution and for the emergence of self‐consciousness. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Kojima's strong stability of stationary solutions can be characterized by means of first and second order terms. We treat the problem whether there is a characterization of the stability concept allowing perturbations of the objective function only, keeping the feasible set unchanged. If the feasible set is a convex polyhedron, then there exists a characterization which is in fact weaker than that one of strong stability. However, in general it appears that data of first and second order do not characterize that kind of stability. The stability of the null solution of different systems of differential equations describing the motion of 1-D coupled nonlinear oscillators is discussed. Under certain assumptions we derive some stability results. Specifically, in the case of coupled damped oscillators we obtain asymptotic stability of the null solution (see Theorem 3.1, Example 3.1, and Fig. 2), while in the case of partial lack of damping we only obtain convergence to zero of the solution components corresponding to damped oscillators (see Theorem 4.1, Example 4.1, and Fig. 5). In all cases, including the case of coupled undamped oscillators, we obtain uniform stability of the null solution.  相似文献

Jackson and Watts (J Econ Theory 71: 44–74, 2002) have examined the dynamic formation and stochastic evolution of networks. We provide a refinement of pairwise stability, p-pairwise stability, which allows us to characterize the stochastically stable networks without requiring the “tree construction” and the computation of resistance that may be quite complex. When a -pairwise stable network exists, it is unique and it coincides with the unique stochastically stable network. To solve the inexistence problem of p-pairwise stable networks, we define its set-valued extension with the notion of p-pairwise stable set. The -pairwise stable set exists and is unique. Any stochastically stable networks is included in the -pairwise stable set. Thus, any network outside the -pairwise stable set must be considered as a non-robust network. We also show that the -pairwise stable set can contain no pairwise stable network and we provide examples where a set of networks is more “stable” than a pairwise stable network.  相似文献

By a novel approach, we get explicit robust stability bounds for positive linear differential systems subject to time-varying multi-perturbations and time-varying affine perturbations. We consider a class of linear dynamical systems with bounded, Lebesgue-measurable uncertainties in the system and input matrices as well as in the input itself.
