We study the initial value problem of a singularly perturbed first order ordinary differential equation in case that the degenerate equation has a double root. We construct the formal asymptotic expansion of the solution such that the boundary layer functions decay exponentially. This requires a modification of the standard procedure. The asymptotic solution will be used to construct lower and upper solutions guaranteeing the existence of a unique solution and justifying its asymptotic expansion.  相似文献

We develop the averaging method theory for parabolic problems with rapidly oscillating summands some of which are large, i.e., proportional to the square root of the frequency of oscillations. In this case the corresponding averaged problems do not coincide in general with those obtained by the traditional averaging, i.e., by formally averaging the summands of the initial problem (since the principal term of the asymptotic expansion of a solution to the latter problem is not in general a solution to the so-obtained problem). In this article we consider the question of time periodic solutions to the first boundary value problem for a semilinear parabolic equation of an arbitrary order 2k whose nonlinear terms, including the large, depend on the derivatives of the unknown up to the order k-1. We construct the averaged problem and the formal asymptotic expansion of a solution. When the large summands depend on the unknown rather than its derivatives we justify the averaging method and the complete asymptotic expansion of a solution.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 Levenshtam V. A uniformly valid aymptotic solution is obtained for a class of perturbed Volterra integral equations, in which a naive expansion breaks down as t → ∞. We use an elementary method to draw analytic conclusions from divergent formal power series solutions of systems of differential equations containing a parameter and give some applications to the theory of turning points. Our main result shows that a divergent formal series transformation of one system into another in which the coefficients satisfy certain estimates is necessarily the asymptotic expansion of an actual transformation. We use it to show the following. Given a two dimensional system εPdy/dx = A(x,ε)y with A holomorphic at (x0,0), suppose that x0 is formally not a turning point in the sense that no singularities appear at x0 during the standard formal solution procedure with formal fractional power series in ε. Then the formal solution is necessarily a uniform asymptotic representation of a fundamental matrix of the system on a full neighborhood of x0. (This conclusion is known to fail under weaker hypotheses on A). We also obtain similar but less complete results for higher order systems under more specialized hypotheses.  相似文献

A class of semi-linear Robin problem is considered. Under appropriate assumptions, the existence and asymptotic behavior of its solution are studied more carefully. Asymptotic representations of solutions to the boundary-value problems of elasticity theory are studied in domains with parabolic exit at infinity (or in bounded domains with singularities like polynomial zero sharpness). The procedure of derivating a formal asymptotic expansion looks like the algorithm of asymptotic analysis in domains. Under the Dirichlet conditions (displacements are prescribed on the boundary of a domain), it is not hard to justify the power asymptotic series. It follows from the theorem on the unique solvability of the problem in spaces of the type L2 containing degrees of distance r=|x| as weight multipliers. For the Neumann conditions (stresses are prescribed on the boundary of a domain) an asymptotic expansion is justified by introducing the Eiry function Φ transforming the Lamé system to the biharmonic equation. Due to the appearance of the Dirichlet condition on Φ, the study of the asymptotic behavior of a solution to the last problem is simplified. The existence theorems and conditions for solvability of the “elastic” Neumann problem are presented. These results are based on the weighted Korn inequality. Bibliography: 29 titles. The initial boundary value problem for the non-steady Stokes system is considered in bounded domains with the boundary having a peak-type singularity (power cusp singularity). The case of the boundary value with a nonzero time-dependent flow rate is studied. The formal asymptotic expansion of the solution near the singular point is constructed. This expansion contains both the outer asymptotic expansion and the boundary-layer-in-time corrector with the ‘fast time’ variable depending on the distance to the cusp point. This article solved the asymptotic solution of a singularly perturbed boundary value problem with second order turning point, encountered in the dissipative equilibrium vector field of the coupled convection disturbance kinetic equations under the constrained filed and the gravity. Using the matching of asymptotic expansions, the formal asymptotic solution is constructed. We discuss the physical problem of a molecule interacting with an electromagnetic field pulse and model the problem using a time-dependent perturbation of the Born-Oppenheimer approximation to the Schrödinger equation. Using previous results that develop asymptotic series solutions in the Born-Oppenheimer parameter $ \epsilon $, we derive a formal Dyson series expansion in the perturbation parameter $ \mu $, which is proportional to the electromagnetic field strength. We then prove that this series is asymptotically accurate in both parameters, provided that the Hamiltonian for the electrons has purely discrete spectrum. We find the first few terms of the asymptotic expansion of a regular solution of the two-dimensional Signorini problem with a small coefficient of friction. As the fundamental approximation we take the solution of the limiting problem without friction. This solution is assumed to be known, and it is assumed that the region of contact consists of a finite number of arcs, on each of which one boundary condition or another is realized. We study the asymptotics of the solution of the Signorini problem without friction under small load variation.
