In this paper, the effects of quadratic singular curves in integrable wave equations are studied by using the bifurcation theory of dynamical system. Some new singular solitary waves (pseudo‐cuspons) and periodic waves are found more weak than regular singular traveling waves such as peaked soliton (peakon), cusp soliton (cuspon), cusp periodic wave, etc. We show that while the first‐order derivatives of the new singular solitary wave and periodic waves exist, their second‐order derivatives are discontinuous at finite number of points for the solitary waves or at infinitely countable points for the periodic wave. Moreover, an intrinsic connection is constructed between the singular traveling waves and quadratic singular curves in the phase plane of traveling wave system. The new singular periodic waves, pseudo‐cuspons, and compactons emerge if corresponding periodic orbits or homoclinic orbits are tangent to a hyperbola, ellipse, and parabola. In particular, pseudo‐cuspon is proposed for the first time. Finally, we study the qualitative behavior of the new singular solitary wave and periodic wave solutions through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation.  相似文献

We give a sharp lower bound for the number of geometrically distinct contractible periodic orbits of dynamically convex Reeb flows on prequantizations of symplectic manifolds that are not aspherical. Several consequences of this result are obtained, like a new proof that every bumpy Finsler metric on \(S^n\) carries at least two prime closed geodesics, multiplicity of elliptic and non-hyperbolic periodic orbits for dynamically convex contact forms with finitely many geometrically distinct contractible closed orbits and precise estimates of the number of even periodic orbits of perfect contact forms. We also slightly relax the hypothesis of dynamical convexity. A fundamental ingredient in our proofs is the common index jump theorem due to Y. Long and C. Zhu.  相似文献

In this paper, first it is proved that on the Mobius strip M there is a unique periodic orbit of the continuous flow f which is the generator of the fundamental group \pi_1(M), where f is tangent (or transversal) to the boundary and has no fixed point on M. Then the results of the Kneser theorem are augmented. On the base of. these two results, the classification theorems for M and the Klein bottle are given, which are some more profound than those given in [1]. At last, applying the improved Kneser theorem to i some continuous flows on torus, the author gets the results that there exist periodic orbits the number of which is even (at least 2), and describes some qualitative behaviors of the orbits. Moreover, some simple applications to the general nonorientable 2-manifold, particularly to the,projective plane, are also mentioned.  相似文献

We prove existence and almost everywhere regularity of an area minimizing soap film with a bound on energy spanning a given Jordan curve in Euclidean space R 3.The energy of a film is defined to be the sum of its surface area and the length of its singular branched set. The class of surfaces over which area is minimized includes images of disks, integral currents, nonorientable surfaces and soap films as observed by Plateau with a bound on energy. Our area minimizing solution is shown to be a smooth surface away from its branched set which is a union of Lipschitz Jordan curves of finite total length.  相似文献

This paper investigates singular limit cycle bifurcations for a singularly perturbed system. Based on a series of transformations (the modified curvilinear coordinate, blow-up, and near-identity transformation) and bifurcation theory of periodic orbits and invariant tori, the bifurcations of closed orbits and invariant tori near singular limit cycles are discussed.  相似文献

In the first part we study the relationship between conic centers (all orbits near a singular point of center type are conics) and isochronous centers of polynomial systems. In the second part we study the number of limit cycles that bifurcate from the periodic orbits of cubic reversible isochronous centers having all their orbits formed by conics, when we perturb such systems inside the class of all polynomial systems of degree n.  相似文献

This article is devoted to investigating the bifurcations of a heterodimensional cycle with orbit flip and inclination flip, which is a highly degenerate singular cycle. We show the persistence of the heterodimensional cycle and the existence of bifurcation surfaces for the homoclinic orbits or periodic orbits. It is worthy to mention that some new features produced by the degeneracies that the coexistence of heterodimensional cycles and multiple periodic orbits are presented as well, which is different from some known results in the literature. Moreover, an example is given to illustrate our results and clear up some doubts about the existence of the system which has a heterodimensional cycle with both orbit flip and inclination flip. Our strategy is based on moving frame, the fundamental solution matrix of linear variational system is chose to be an active local coordinate system along original heterodimensional cycle, which can clearly display the non-generic properties-``orbit flip" and ``inclination flip" for some sufficiently large time.  相似文献

In this paper the author determines the maximum number of simple closed curves with certain propertiees on any manifold M of dimension 2, and obtains some general properties of M. Then applying the properties to continuous flows defined on M, the author obtains the maximum number of distinct P stable orbit closures and non-zero-homotopic periodic orbits which are not homotopic to each other.  相似文献

In this paper, we shall consider the global structure of positive bounded systems on the plane which have m singular points, but not any closed orbits and singular closed orbits. We shall prove that these systems have at least m−1 connecting orbits; and all the connecting orbits, homoclinic orbits and singular points constitute a compact simply connected set. Each of other orbits tends to a singular point as t→+∞, and approaches to the infinity as t→−∞.  相似文献

A rigorous numerical method for establishing the existence of a transversal connecting orbit from one hyperbolic periodic orbit to another of a differential equation in is presented. As the first component of this method, a general shadowing theorem that guarantees the existence of such a connecting orbit near a suitable pseudo connection orbit given the invertibility of a certain operator is proved. The second component consists of a refinement procedure for numerically computing a pseudo connecting orbit between two pseudo periodic orbits with sufficiently small local errors so as to satisfy the hypothesis of the theorem. The third component consists of a numerical procedure to verify the invertibility of the operator and obtain a rigorous upper bound for the norm of its inverse. Using this method, existence of chaos is demonstrated on examples with transversal homoclinic orbits, and with cycles of transversal heteroclinic orbits.  相似文献

The Horadam sequence is a direct generalization of the Fibonacci numbers in the complex plane, which depends on a family of four complex parameters: two recurrence coefficients and two initial conditions. In this article a computational matrix-based method is developed to formulate necessary and sufficient conditions for the periodicity of generalized complex Horadam sequences, which are generated by higher order recurrences for arbitrary initial conditions. The asymptotic behaviour of generalized Horadam sequences generated by roots of unity is also examined, along with upper boundaries for the disc containing periodic orbits. Some applications are suggested, along with a number of future research directions.  相似文献

We discuss bifurcation of periodic orbits in discontinuous planar systems with discontinuities on finitely many straight lines intersecting at the origin and the unperturbed system has either a limit cycle or an annulus of periodic orbits. Assume that the unperturbed periodic orbits cross every switching line transversally exactly once. For the first case we give a condition for the persistence of the limit cycle. For the second case, we obtain the expression of the first order Melnikov function and establish sufficient conditions on the number of limit cycles bifurcate from the periodic annulus. Then we generalize our results to systems with discontinuities on finitely many smooth curves. As an application, we present a piecewise cubic system with 4 switching lines and show that the maximum number of limit cycles bifurcate from the periodic annulus can be affected by the position of the switching lines.  相似文献

An abelian differential on a surface defines a flat metric and a vector field on the complement of a finite set of points. The vertical flow that can be defined on the surface has two kinds of invariant closed sets (i.e. invariant components) — periodic components and minimal components. We give upper bounds on the number of minimal components, on the number of periodic components and on the total number of invariant components in every stratum of abelian differentials. This paper concerns the global structure of planar systems. It is shown that if a positively bounded system with two singular points has no closed orbits, the set of all bounded solutions is compact and simply connected. Also it is shown that for such a system the existence of connecting orbits is tightly related to the behavior of homoclinic orbits. A necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of connecting orbits is given. A subset of a group is characteristic if it is invariant under every automorphism of the group. We study word length in fundamental groups of closed hyperbolic surfaces with respect to characteristic generating sets consisting of a finite union of orbits of the automorphism group, and show that the translation length of any element with a nonzero crossing number is positive, and bounded below by a constant depending only (and explicitly) on a bound on the crossing numbers of generating elements. This answers a question of Benson Farb.
