This paper deals with bifurcations of subharmonic solutions and invariant tori generated from limit cycles in the fast dynamics for a nonautonomous singularly perturbed system. Based on Poincare map, a series of blow-up transformations and the theory of integral manifold, the conditions for the existence of invariant tori are obtained, and the saddle-node bifurcations of subharmonic solutions are studied.  相似文献

This is the first part of a review of the scientific works of L.P. Shilnikov. We group his papers according to 7 major research topics: bifurcations of homoclinic loops; the loop of a saddle-focus and spiral chaos; Poincare homoclinics to periodic orbits and invariant tori, homoclinic in noautonous and infinite-dimensional systems; Homoclinic tangency; Saddlenode bifurcation — quasiperiodicity-to-chaos transition, blue-sky catastrophe; Lorenz attractor; Hamiltonian dynamics. In this paper we investigate the nearly small twist mappings with intersection property. With a certain non-degenerate condition, we proved that the most of invariant tori of the original small twist mappings will survive afer small perturtations. The persisted invariant tori are close to the unperturbed ones when the perturbation are small. The orbits reduced by those mappings are quasi-periodic in the invariant tori with the frequences closing to the original ones.  相似文献

We show that a C1 torus that is homologous to the zero section, invariant by the geodesic flow of a symmetric Finsler metric in T2, and possesses closed orbits is a graph of the canonical projection. This result, together with the result obtained by Bialy in 1989 for continuous invariant tori without closed orbits of symmetric Finsler metrics in T2, shows that the second Birkhoff Theorem holds for C1 Lagrangian invariant tori of symmetric Finsler metrics in the two torus. We also study the first Birkhoff Theorem for continuous invariant tori of Finsler metrics in T2 and give some sufficient conditions for a continuous minimizing torus with closed orbits to be a graph of the canonical projection. Using the theory of invariant manifolds, we give local expressions of the stable and unstable manifolds for normally hyperbolic invariant tori, and study the existence of transverse orbits heteroclinic to hyperbolic invariant tori. We consider a numerical method based on the so-called “orthogonality condition” for the approximation and continuation of invariant tori under flows. The basic method was originally introduced by Moore [Computation and parameterization of invariant curves and tori, SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 15 (1991) 245–263], but that work contained no stability or consistency results. We show that the method is unconditionally stable and consistent in the special case of a periodic orbit. However, we also show that the method is unstable for two-dimensional tori in three-dimensional space when the discretization includes even numbers of points in both angular coordinates, and we point out potential difficulties when approximating invariant tori possessing additional invariant sub-manifolds (e.g., periodic orbits). We propose some remedies to these difficulties and give numerical results to highlight that the end method performs well for invariant tori of practical interest.  相似文献

For the generalized cubic Schrödinger equation, we consider a periodic boundary value problem in the case of n independent space variables. For this boundary value problem, there exists a countable set of plane running waves periodic with respect to the time variable. We analyze their stability and local bifurcations under the change of stability. We show that invariant tori of dimension 2, ..., n + 1 can bifurcate from each of them. We obtain asymptotic formulas for the solutions on invariant tori and stability conditions for bifurcating tori as well as parameter ranges in which, starting from n = 3, a subcritical (stiff) bifurcation of invariant tori is possible.  相似文献

We consider the existence of periodic orbits in a class of three-dimensional piecewise linear systems. Firstly, we describe the dynamical behavior of a non-generic piecewise linear system which has two equilibria and one two-dimensional invariant manifold foliated by periodic orbits. The aim of this work is to study the periodic orbits of the continuum that persist under a piecewise linear perturbation of the system. In order to analyze this situation, we build a real function of real variable whose zeros are related to the limit cycles that remain after the perturbation. By using this function, we state some results of existence and stability of limit cycles in the perturbed system, as well as results of bifurcations of limit cycles. The techniques presented are similar to the Melnikov theory for smooth systems and the method of averaging.  相似文献

The motion of three point vortices in an ideal fluid in a plane comprises a Hamiltonian dynamical system – one that is completely integrable, so it exhibits numerous periodic orbits, and quasiperiodic orbits on invariant tori. Certain perturbations of three vortex dynamics, such as three vortex motion in a half-plane, are also Hamiltonian, but not completely integrable. Yet these perturbed systems may still have periodic trajectories and invariant tori close to those for the unperturbed dynamics. Extending recent work by the authors [4], invariant 2-tori approximating those for the unperturbed system are located and analyzed using a combination of classical analysis, asymptotics, and Hamiltonian methods. It is shown that the results and approximation methods used are applicable to several perturbations of three vortex dynamics such as three vortices in a half-plane, the restricted four vortex problem in the plane, and three coaxial vortex rings in 3-space. We consider periodic perturbations of conservative systems. The unperturbed systems are assumed to have two nonhyperbolic equilibria connected by a heteroclinic orbit on each level set of conservative quantities. These equilibria construct two normally hyperbolic invariant manifolds in the unperturbed phase space, and by invariant manifold theory there exist two normally hyperbolic, locally invariant manifolds in the perturbed phase space. We extend Melnikov’s method to give a condition under which the stable and unstable manifolds of these locally invariant manifolds intersect transversely. Moreover, when the locally invariant manifolds consist of nonhyperbolic periodic orbits, we show that there can exist heteroclinic orbits connecting periodic orbits near the unperturbed equilibria on distinct level sets. This behavior can occur even when the two unperturbed equilibria on each level set coincide and have a homoclinic orbit. In addition, it yields transition motions between neighborhoods of very distant periodic orbits, which are similar to Arnold diffusion for three or more degree of freedom Hamiltonian systems possessing a sequence of heteroclinic orbits to invariant tori, if there exists a sequence of heteroclinic orbits connecting periodic orbits successively.We illustrate our theory for rotational motions of a periodically forced rigid body. Numerical computations to support the theoretical results are also given.  相似文献

The three-body problem with all the classical integrals fixed and all the symmetries removed is called the reduced three-body problem. We use the methods of symplectic scaling and reduction to show that the reduced planar or spatial three-body problem with one small mass is to the first approximation the product of the restricted three-body problem and a harmonic oscillator. This allows us to prove that many of the known results for the restricted problem have generalizations for the reduced three-body problem.

For example, all the non-degenerate periodic solutions, generic bifurcations, Hamiltonian-Hopf bifurcations, bridges and natural centers known to exist in the restricted problem can be continued into the reduced three-body problem. The classic normalization calculations of Deprit and Deprit-Bartholomé show that there are two-dimensional KAM invariant tori near the Lagrange point in the restricted problem. With the above result this proves that there are three-dimensional KAM invariant tori near the Lagrange point in the reduced three-body problem.  相似文献

We discuss some aspects of conservative and dissipative KAM theorems, with particular reference to a comparison between the main assumptions needed to develop KAM theory in the two settings. After analyzing the qualitative behavior of a paradigmatic model (the standard mapping), we study the existence of quasi?Cperiodic tori in the two frameworks, paying special attention to the occurrence of small divisors and to the non?Cdegeneracy (twist) condition in the conservative and in the dissipative case. These conditions are the main requirements for the applicability of KAM theorem, which is then stated for invariant tori as well as for invariant attractors. We proceed to discuss a criterion for the determination of the breakdown threshold of invariant tori and invariant attractors through approximating periodic orbits. These results can be applied to a wide set of physical problems; concrete applications to Celestial Mechanics are discussed with particular reference to the rotational and orbital motion of celestial bodies.  相似文献

In this paper a four-dimensional hyperchaotic system with only one equilibrium is considered and its double Hopf bifurcations are investigated. The general post-bifurcation and stability analysis are carried out using the normal form of the system obtained via the method of multiple scales. The dynamics of the orbits predicted through the normal form comprises possible regimes of periodic solutions, two-period tori, and three-period tori in parameter space. Moreover, we show how the hyperchaotic synchronization of this system can be realized via an adaptive control scheme. Numerical simulations are included to show the effectiveness of the designed control.  相似文献

In a previous paper, we have proved that a planar quadratic system with invariant parabola Г has at most one limit cycle. In this paper, we use geometric characteristics to give necessary and sufficient conditions under which a PQSГ with three non-degenerate singular points can be transformed into two different definite forms. We study bifurcations of homoclinic orbits to hyperbolic saddle equilibria in a class of four-dimensional systems which may be Hamiltonian or not. Only one parameter is enough to treat these types of bifurcations in Hamiltonian systems but two parameters are needed in general systems. We apply a version of Melnikov?s method due to Gruendler to obtain saddle-node and pitchfork types of bifurcation results for homoclinic orbits. Furthermore we prove that if these bifurcations occur, then the variational equations around the homoclinic orbits are integrable in the meaning of differential Galois theory under the assumption that the homoclinic orbits lie on analytic invariant manifolds. We illustrate our theories with an example which arises as stationary states of coupled real Ginzburg–Landau partial differential equations, and demonstrate the theoretical results by numerical ones.  相似文献
