This paper is concerned with the inverse problem of scattering of time-harmonic acoustic waves by an inhomogeneous penetrable obstacle in a piecewise homogeneous medium. The well-posedness of the direct problem is first established by using the integral equation method. We then proceed to establish two tools that play important roles for the inverse problem: one is a mixed reciprocity relation and the other is a priori estimates of the solution on some part of the interfaces between the layered media. For the inverse problem, we prove in this paper that both the penetrable interfaces and the possible inside inhomogeneity can be uniquely determined from a knowledge of the far field pattern for incident plane waves.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the inverse electromagnetic scattering by a 2D (impenetrable or penetrable) smooth periodic curve. Precisely, we establish global uniqueness results on the inverse problem of determining the grating profile from the scattered fields corresponding to a countably infinite number of quasiperiodic incident waves. For the case of an impenetrable and partially coated perfectly reflecting grating, we prove that the grating profile and its physical property can be uniquely determined from the scattered field measured above the periodic structure. For the case of a penetrable grating, we show that the periodic interface can be uniquely recovered by the scattered field measured only above the interface. A key ingredient in our proofs is a novel mixed reciprocity relation that is derived in this paper for the periodic structures and seems to be new. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We apply the complex geometrical optics solutions with logarithmic phase, which is called complex spherical waves, to reconstruction problem. We consider the direct and inverse problems for the scattering of a partially penetrable obstacle. Here ‘partially penetrable obstacle’ means that the waves transmit into the obstacle just from partial boundary of the obstacle with the rest of the boundary touching a known perfect and thin scatterer. The solvability of the direct scattering problem is presented using the classical boundary integral equation method. An interesting interior transmission problem is investigated for the purpose of solving the inverse obstacle scattering problem. Then the linear sampling method is proposed to reconstruct the shape and location of the obstacle from near field measurements. We note that the inversion algorithm can be implemented by avoiding the use of background Green function as a test function due to a mixed reciprocal principle.  相似文献

The scattering of time-harmonic electromagnetic plane waves by an impenetrable obstacle in a piecewise homogeneous medium is considered. The well-posedness of the direct problem is proved by the variational method. Under the condition that the wave numbers in the innermost and outermost homogeneous layers coincide, we then establish a uniqueness result for the inverse problem, that is, the unique determination of the obstacle and its boundary condition from a knowledge of the electric far field pattern for incident plane waves. In this paper we consider the inverse scattering problem for a cavity that is bounded by a partially coated penetrable inhomogeneous medium of compact support and recover the shape of the cavity and the surface conductivity from a knowledge of measured scattered waves due to point sources located on a curve or surface inside the cavity. First, we prove that both the shape of the cavity and the surface conductivity on the coated part can be uniquely determined from a knowledge of the measured data. Next, we establish a linear sampling method for determining both the shape of the cavity and the surface conductivity. A central role in our justification is played by an eigenvalue problem which we call the exterior transmission eigenvalue problem. Finally, we present some numerical examples to illustrate the validity of our method.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the inverse medium scattering problem in a perturbed, layered, half-space, which is a problem related to the seismologial investigation of inclusions inside the earth’s crust. A wave penetrable object is located in a layer where the refraction index is different from the other part of the half-space. Wave propagation in such a layered half-space is different from that in a homogeneous half-space. In a layered half-space, a scattered wave consists of a free wave and a guided wave. In many cases, only the free-wave far-field or only the guided-wave far-field can be measured.We establish mathematical formulas for relations between the object, the incident wave and the scattered wave. In the ideal condition where exact data are given, we prove the uniqueness of the inverse problem. A numerical example is presented for the reconstruction of a penetrable object from simulated noise data.  相似文献

The interior transmission problem appears naturally in the study of the inverse scattering problem of determining the shape of a penetrable medium from a knowledge of the time harmonic incident waves and the far field patterns of the scattered waves. We propose a variational study of this problem in the case of Maxwell's equations in an inhomogeneous anisotropic medium. Then we apply the obtained results to build an ‘extented far field’ operator and give a characterization of the medium from the knowledge of the range of this operator. In this paper, we discuss the inverse scattering problem for a penetrable obstacle with an impenetrable rigid core. Using a generalization of Schiffer's method to nonsmooth domains due to Ramm, we prove that the rigid core is uniquely determined by the far field patterns for a range of interior wavenumbers.  相似文献

In this work, we consider the method of non-linear boundary integral equation for solving numerically the inverse scattering problem of obliquely incident electromagnetic waves by a penetrable homogeneous cylinder in three dimensions. We consider the indirect method and simple representations for the electric and the magnetic fields in order to derive a system of five integral equations, four on the boundary of the cylinder and one on the unit circle where we measure the far-field pattern of the scattered wave. We solve the system iteratively by linearizing only the far-field equation. Numerical results illustrate the feasibility of the proposed scheme.  相似文献

We consider imaging of periodic penetrable structures from measurements of scattered electromagnetic waves. The importance of this problem stems from the decreasing size of periodic structures in photonic devices, together with an increasing demand in fast non-destructive testing. This demand makes qualitative inverse scattering techniques particularly attractive since they do not use time consuming optimization techniques for reconstruction but rather directly transform measured data into a picture of the scattering object. We present the Factorization method as an algorithm for imaging of a special class of periodic dielectric structures known as diffraction gratings. Our sampling method computes a picture of the shape of the periodic structure from measured near-field data in a rapid way. We provide numerical examples illustrating this imaging technique.  相似文献

Consider the problem of scattering of electromagnetic waves by a doubly periodic Lipschitz structure. The medium above the structure is assumed to be homogenous and lossless with a positive dielectric coefficient. Below the structure there is a perfect conductor with a partially coated dielectric boundary. We first establish the well‐posedness of the direct problem in a proper function space and then obtain a uniqueness result for the inverse problem by extending Isakov's method. We consider inverse potential scattering problems where the source of the incident waves is located on a smooth closed surface outside of the inhomogeneity of the media. Considering a time-harmonic electromagnetic plane wave incident on an arbitrarily shaped open cavity embedded in infinite ground plane, the physical process is modelled by Maxwell's equations. We investigate the inverse problem of determining the shape of the open cavity from the information of the measured scattered field. Results on the uniqueness and the local stability of the inverse problem in the 2-dimensional TM (transverse magnetic) polarization are proved in this paper.  相似文献
