Well-posedness and stability for an elliptic-parabolic free boundary problem modeling the growth of multi-layer tumors

In this paper we study a free boundary problem modeling the growth of multi-layer tumors. This free boundary problem contains one parabolic equation and one elliptic equation, defined on an unbounded domain in R2 of the form 0 〈 y 〈p（x,t）, where p（x,t） is an unknown function. Unlike previous works on this tumor model where unknown functions are assumed to be periodic and only elliptic equations are evolved in the model, in this paper we consider the case where unknown functions are not periodic functions and both elliptic and parabolic equations appear in the model. It turns out that this problem is more difficult to analyze rigorously. We first prove that this problem is locally well-posed in little H61der spaces. Next we investigate asymptotic behavior of the solution. By using the principle of linearized stability, we prove that if the surface tension coefficient y is larger than a threshold value y〉0, then the unique flat equilibrium is asymptotically stable provided that the constant c representing the ratio between the nutrient diffusion time and the tumor-cell doubling time is sufficiently small.

Let a, b and c be fixed coprime positive integers. In this paper we prove that if a^2 ＋ b^2 = c^3 and b is an odd prime, then the equation a^x ＋ b^y = c^z has only the positive integer solution （x, y, z） = （2,2,3）.     

POSITIVE PERIODIC SOLUTION TO A CLASS OF NONLINEAR PERIODIC DIFFERENTIAL EQUATION WITH IMPULSES AND DELAY

In this paper, by using a fixed point theorem of Krasnoselskii, we study the positive periodic solution for a class of nonlinear periodic differential equation with impulses and delay. Firstly, definition of periodic solution and some lemmas are stated. Then some results of the existence of positive periodic solution about the equation are obtained.

In this paper,we are concerned with the boundedness of all the solutions of the equation x″ ax^ -bx- Ф(x)=p(t),where p(t) is a smooth 2π-periodic function,a and b are positive constants,and the perturbation Ф(x) is bounded.

In this paper, we study the following nonlinear biological modeldx(t)/dt = x(t)[a(t)-b(t)x α (t)] + f(t, xt),by using fixed pointed theorem, the sufficient conditions of the existence of unique positive almost periodic solution for the above system are obtained, by using the theories of stability, the sufficient conditions which guarantee the stability of the positive almost periodic solution are derived.     

A reaction-diffusion model with nonlinearity driven diffusion

In this paper, we deal with the model with a very general growth law and an M- driven diffusion For the general case of time dependent functions M and #, the existence and uniqueness for positive solution is obtained. If M and # are T0-periodic functions in t, then there is an attractive positive periodic solution. Furthermore, if M and # are time-independent, then the non-constant stationary solution M（x） is globally stable. Thus, we can easily formulate the conditions deriving the above behaviors for specific population models with the logistic growth law, Gilpin-Ayala growth law and Gompertz growth law, respectively. We answer an open problem proposed by L. Korobenko and E. Braverman in [Can. Appl. Math. Quart. 17（2009） 85-104].

In this paper,the zeros of solutions of periodic second order linear differential equation y ＋ Ay = 0,where A（z） = B（e z ）,B（ζ） = g（ζ） ＋ p j=1 b ？j ζ ？j ,g（ζ） is a transcendental entire function of lower order no more than 1/2,and p is an odd positive integer,are studied.It is shown that every non-trivial solution of above equation satisfies the exponent of convergence of zeros equals to infinity.     

Associative Cones and Integrable Systems

We identify R7 as the pure imaginary part of octonions. Then the multiplication in octonions gives a natural almost complex structure for the unit sphere S6. It is known that a cone over a surface M in S6 is an associative submanifold of R7 if and only if M is almost complex in S6. In this paper, we show that the Gauss-Codazzi equation for almost complex curves in S6 are the equation for primitive maps associated to the 6-symmetric space G2/T2, and use this to explain some of the known results. Moreover, the equation for S1-symmetric almost complex curves in S6 is the periodic Toda lattice, and a discussion of periodic solutions is given.     

周期手性结构电磁散射问题的积分方程方法

In this paper, we consider the electromagnetic scattering by a periodic chiral structure. The media is homogeneous and the structure is periodic in one direction and invariant in another direction. The electromagnetic fields inside the chiral medium are governed by Maxwell equations together with the Drude-BornFedorov equations. We simplify the problem to a two-dimensional scattering problem and discuss the existence and the uniqueness of solutions by an integral equation approach. We show that for all but possibly a discrete set of wave numbers, the integral equation has a unique solution.     

Existence and Exponential Stability of Almost Periodic Solution for Hopfield Neural Network Equations with Almost Periodic Imput

By constructing Liapunov functions and building a new inequality, we obtain two kinds of sufficient conditions for the existence and global exponential stability of almost periodic solution for a Hopfield-type neural networks subject to almost periodic external stimuli. In this paper, we assume that the network parameters vary almost periodically with time and we incorporate variable delays in the processing part of the network architectures.

一阶非线性周期方程的奇异点方法

本文应用奇异点理论,在g(x)为凹(凸)型函数时,给出周期系统(?)+a(t)g(x)=h(t)整体等价于Whitney意义下的尖点映射的结果.精确地说,算子Fx(t)=(?)+a(t)g(x(t))的奇异值集F(∑)为单连通超曲面并且将C[0,1]分成两个连通分支A1和A3,使得:(1)对周期为1的连续函数p(t)∈A1有唯一解.(2)对周期为1的连续函数p(t)∈A3恰有三个周期解.进一步,尖点集C的像集F(C)是C[0,1]中的,余维数等于2的子流形.对p∈F(C)有唯一解,而对p(t)∈F(∑)\F(C)恰有两个周期解.

We discuss the existence and the number of periodic solutions of differential equation dx/dt=A1(t)x A2(t)x^2 A3(t)x^3/α0(t） α1(t)x α2(t)x^2 (1)where Ai（t），αj(t)(i=1,2,3;j=0,1,2) are continuous periodic functions.The results of this paper ex-tend the work of paper[1].

The Existence of Almost Periodic Solution and Periodic Solutions

In this paper, it is obtained that a periodic system has an almost periodic solution if it has a solution x=\phi(t) uniformly stable with respect to \Omega_\phi ,and has a periodic solution if x=\phi(t) is weakly uniformly asymptotically stable with respect to \Omega_\phi. Meanwhile, it is also obtained that a uniformly almost periodic system has an almost periodic solution if it has a solution x=\phi(t) uniformly asymptotically stable with respect to A_\phi^j.
