We consider the collection of functions of one quaternion variable which can be expressed asG(Y) whereY is a real-valued quaternion function andG is a differential operator which corresponds to the gradient of real variable theory. Integral theorems for such functions are given, together with necessary and sufficient conditions for a function to be a gradient function, in terms of its Frechet derivative. The extended complex analytic functions, the Fueter functions, and the momentum-energy density functions are seen to be gradient functions which correspond to biharmonic, harmonic, and wave functions respectively.  相似文献

A generalized Sturmian theorem is proved for elliptic differential inequalities of second order in arbitrary bounded domains G in n-dimensional Euclidean space. Under weaker hypotheses than normally given, no boundary regularity is required for the conclusion that every solution of such an inequality has a zero in G. This is a so-called strong theorem, meaning that the conclusion applies to G rather than G?. Specialization to linear symmetric elliptic equations sharpens earlier Sturmian theorems.  相似文献

We study a problem of optimal boundary control of vibrations of a one-dimensional elastic string, the objective being to bring the string from an arbitrary initial state into an arbitrary terminal state. The control is by the displacement at one end of the string, and a homogeneous boundary condition containing the time derivative is posed at the other end. We study the corresponding initial-boundary value problem in the sense of a generalized solution in the Sobolev space and prove existence and uniqueness theorems for the solution. An optimal boundary control in the sense of minimization of the boundary energy is constructed in closed analytic form.  相似文献

We present results of the investigation of the local behavior of smooth functions in neighborhoods of their regular and critical points and prove theorems on the mean values of the functions considered similar to the Lagrange finite-increments theorem. We prove existence and uniqueness theorems for the solution of a nonlocal problem for a partial differential equation with a Riemann-Liouville fractional derivative in which the boundary condition contains a generalized fractional differentiation operator with the Gauss hypergeometric function in the kernel. On a finite interval G of the real line, we consider the root functions of an ordinary second-order differential operator without any boundary conditions for the case in which the imaginary part of the spectral parameter is unbounded.We refine the estimates for the C-and L p -norms of a root function and its first derivative on a compact set contained in the interior of G for the case in which the Carleman condition fails.A sufficient condition is obtained for the root functions of an ordinary second-order differential operator to have the Bessel property, assuming that the Carleman condition fails. We show that, under certain conditions, this problem can be reduced to analyzing the Bessel property of systems of exponentials.  相似文献

The boundary value problem consists in findingu satisfyingLu=f inG, d n u=φ on the elliptic part of the boundary ofG, u=ψ on the noncharacteristic part (which is not empty) of the hyperbolic part of the boundary ofG.d n u denotes the conormal (with respect toL) derivative ofu. It is proved that the problem has a generalized solution in anL 2-weight space. Uniqueness is otained in the class of quasiregular solutions. In order to get the results apriori estimates are proved; theorems from functional analysis are used.  相似文献

In the theory of function spaces it is an important problem to describe the differential properties for the convolution u = G * f in terms of the behavior of kernel near the origin, and at the infinity. In our paper the differential properties of convolution are characterized by their modulus of continuity of order kN in the uniform norm. The kernels of convolution generalize the classical kernels determining the Bessel and Riesz potential. They admit non-power behavior near the origin. The order-sharp estimates are obtained for moduli of continuity of the convolution in the uniform norm as well as for continuity envelope function of generalized Bessel potentials. Such estimates admit sharp embedding theorems into a Calderon space and imply estimates for the approximation numbers of the embedding operator.  相似文献

For a second-order boundary value problem with operator right-hand side and with functional boundary conditions, we prove solvability theorems with mixed and Dirichlet boundary conditions assuming the existence of a lower and an upper function. These theorems are analogs of theorems for the corresponding boundary value problems for an ordinary second-order differential equation with right-hand side satisfying the Carathéodory conditions.  相似文献

We associate several distribution boundary values to an eigenfunction with moderate growth on a riemannian symmetric space G/K; the associated character of the algebra D(G/K) of invariant differential operators is allowed to be non-regular. We prove results on the support of these boundary values. These allow us to recover the theorems of Matsuki-Oshima and Oshima on the equivalence between growth of an eigenfunction and limitations on the supports of its boundary values. Our approach is based on an asymptotic analysis that makes no use of hyperfunction theory.  相似文献

For a compact Riemannian manifold with boundary, endowed with a magnetic potential α, we consider the problem of restoring the metric g and the magnetic potential α from the values of the Mañé action potential between boundary points and the associated linearized problem. We study simple magnetic systems. In this case, knowledge of the Mañé action potential is equivalent to knowledge of the scattering relation on the boundary which maps a starting point and a direction of a magnetic geodesic into its end point and direction. This problem can only be solved up to an isometry and a gauge transformation of α.For the linearized problem, we show injectivity, up to the natural obstruction, under explicit bounds on the curvature and on α. We also show injectivity and stability for g and α in a generic class G including real analytic ones.For the nonlinear problem, we show rigidity for real analytic simple (g,α), rigidity for metrics in a given conformal class, and locally, near any (g,α)∈G. We also show that simple magnetic systems on two-dimensional manifolds are always rigid.  相似文献

An optimal control problem is considered for solutions of a boundary value problem for a second-order ordinary differential equation on a closed interval with a small parameter at the second derivative. The control is scalar and satisfies geometric constraints. General theorems on approximation are obtained. Two leading terms of an asymptotic expansion of the solution are constructed and an error estimate is obtained for these approximations.  相似文献

In this paper the ω-limit sets for analytic and polynomial differential equations on the plane are characterized up to homeomorphisms. The analogous problem is solved in full detail for analytic flows on the sphere and the projective plane.
