This article focuses on the study of the metric geometry of homogeneous spaces (the unitary group of a C*-algebra modulo the unitary group of a C*-subalgebra ) where the invariant Finsler metric in is induced by the quotient norm of Under the assumption that is of compact type, i.e. when the unitary group is relatively compact in the strong operator topology, this work presents local and global versions of Hopf-Rinow-like theorems: given points there exists a minimal uniparametric group curve joining ρ0 and ρ1.  相似文献

The aim of the present paper is to introduce a metric locally convex topology on the space of δ-psh functions in the Cegrell class . We prove that with this topology is a non-separable and non-reflexive Fréchet space. At the same time, we extend the Monge–Ampère operator from the class to .  相似文献

Let be a C*-algebra and X a Hilbert C* -module. If is a projection, let be the p-sphere of X. For φ a state of with support p in and consider the modular vector state φx of given by The spheres provide fibrations
and
These fibrations enable us to examine the homotopy type of the sets of modular vector states, and relate it to the homotopy type of unitary groups and spaces of projections. We regard modular vector states as generalizations of pure states to the context of Hilbert C*-modules, and the above fibrations as generalizations of the projective fibration of a Hilbert space.  相似文献

Let be the family of all groups such that under each subadditive functional there exists an additive functional. We show that the class is between the class of all amenable groups and the family of all groups for which the Hyers stability theorem for homomorphisms holds true. Next, we generalize the classical Hahn-Banach theorem to the class . Received: 6 May 2005  相似文献

In the present paper we prove that the collection of all convexities of partial monounary algebras is finite; namely, it has exactly 23 elements. Further, we show that for each element there exists a subset of such that is generated by and card . It is shown that for open convex , d > 1 and a nontrivial polynomial P the space does not have property . If P is elliptic or homogeneous, then this holds for every open Ω. For even cannot occur and if it occurs for some Ω, then P must be hypoelliptic. Received: 18 July 2005  相似文献

A 1-factorization (or parallelism) of the complete graph with loops is called polar if each 1-factor (parallel class) contains exactly one loop and for any three distinct vertices x1, x2, x3, if {x1} and {x2, x3} belong to a 1-factor then the same holds for any permutation of the set {1, 2, 3}. To a polar graph there corresponds a polar involution set , an idempotent totally symmetric quasigroup (P, *), a commutative, weak inverse property loop (P, + ) of exponent 3 and a Steiner triple system . We have: satisfies the trapezium axiom is self-distributive ⇔ (P, + ) is a Moufang loop is an affine triple system; and: satisfies the quadrangle axiom is a group is an affine space.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate finite rank operators in the Jacobson radical of Alg( ), where are nests. Based on the concrete characterizations of rank one operators in Alg( ) and , we obtain that each finite rank operator in can be written as a finite sum of rank one operators in and the weak closure of equals Alg( ) if and only if at least one of is continuous.  相似文献

If 0 < p < ∞ and α > − 1, the space consists of those functions f which are analytic in the unit disc and have the property that f ′ belongs to the weighted Bergman space Aαp. In 1999, Z. Wu obtained a characterization of the Carleson measures for the spaces for certain values of p and α. In particular, he proved that, for 0 < p ≤ 2, the Carleson measures for the space are precisely the classical Carleson measures. Wu also conjectured that this result remains true for 2 < p < ∞. In this paper we prove that this conjecture is false. Indeed, we prove that if 2 < p < ∞, then there exists g analytic in such that the measure μg,p on defined by dμg,p (z) = (1 − |z|2)p - 1| g ′ (z)|p dx dy is not a Carleson measure for but is a classical Carleson measure. We obtain also some sufficient conditions for multipliers of the spaces   相似文献

We consider two pairs of complete hereditary cotorsion theories on the category of left R-modules, such that We prove that for any left R-modules M, N and for any n ≧ 1, the generalized Tate cohomology modules can be computed either using a left of M and a left of M or using a right a right of N. Let p be an odd prime number and . Let be the classical Stickelberger ideal of the group ring . Iwasawa [6] proved that the index equals the relative class number of . In [2], [4] we defined for each subgroup H of G a Stickelberger ideal of , and studied some of its properties. In this note, we prove that when mod 4 and [G : H] = 2, the index equals the quotient . Let E be a non empty set, let P : = E × E, := {x × E|xE}, := {E × x|xE}, and := {C ∈ 2 P |∀X ∈ : |CX| = 1} and let . Then the quadruple resp. is called chain structure resp. maximal chain structure. We consider the maximal chain structure as an envelope of the chain structure . Particular chain structures are webs, 2-structures, (coordinatized) affine planes, hyperbola structures or Minkowski planes. Here we study in detail the groups of automorphisms , , , related to a maximal chain structure . The set of all chains can be turned in a group such that the subgroup of generated by the left-, by the right-translations and by ι the inverse map of is isomorphic to (cf. (2.14)).  相似文献

We study localization operators within the framework of ultradistributions. More precisely, given a symbol a and two windows φ1, φ2, we investigate the multilinear mapping from to the localization operator Results are formulated in terms of modulation spaces with weights which may have exponential growth. We give sufficient and necessary conditions for a to be bounded or to belong to a Schatten class. As an application, we study symbols defined by ultra-distributions with compact support, that give trace class localization operators.  相似文献

The peak algebra is a unital subalgebra of the symmetric group algebra, linearly spanned by sums of permutations with a common set of peaks. By exploiting the combinatorics of sparse subsets of [n−1] (and of certain classes of compositions of n called almost-odd and thin), we construct three new linear bases of . We discuss two peak analogs of the first Eulerian idempotent and construct a basis of semi-idempotent elements for the peak algebra. We use these bases to describe the Jacobson radical of and to characterize the elements of in terms of the canonical action of the symmetric groups on the tensor algebra of a vector space. We define a chain of ideals of , j = 0,..., , such that is the linear span of sums of permutations with a common set of interior peaks and is the peak algebra. We extend the above results to , generalizing results of Schocker (the case j = 0). Aguiar supported in part by NSF grant DMS-0302423 Orellana supported in part by the Wilson Foundation  相似文献
