We establish the concept of shapes of functions by using partial differential inequalites. Our definition about shapes includes some usual shapes such as convex, subharmonic, etc., and gives many new shapes of functions. The main results show that the shape preserving approximation has close relation to the shape preserving extension. One of our main results shows that if f∈C(Ω) has some shape defined by our definition, then f can be uniformly approximated by polynomials Pn ∈ ℙn (n∈ℕ) which have the same shape in Ω, and the degree of the approximation is Cω(f,n−β) with constants C,β>0.  相似文献

In accordance with the demands of the so-called local approach to inverse problems, the set of “waves” uf (·, T) is studied, where uf (x,t) is the solution of the initial boundary-value problem utt−Δu=0 in Ω×(0,T), u|t<0=0, u|∂Ω×(0,T)=f, and the (singular) control f runs over the class L2((0,T); H−m (∂Ω)) (m>0). The following result is established. Weighted Lp estimates (1<p<∞) are shown for oscillatory singular integral operators with polynomial phase and a rough kernel of the form eiP(x,y)Ω(x−y)h(|x−y|)|x−y|−n. We assume that Ω∈L logL(Sn−1) is homogeneous of degree zero and ∫Sn-1Ω=0. The radial factor h has bounded variation. In 1980, M. Hasson raised a conjecture as follows: Let N≥1, then there exists a function f0(x)∈C [−1,1] 2N , for N+1≤k≤2N, such that p n (k) (f0,1)→f 0 (k) (1), n→∞, where pn(f,x) is the algebraic polynomial of best approximation of degree ≤n to f(x). Of concern are semigroups of linear norm one operators on Hilbert space of the form (discrete case)T={T n /n=0,1,2,...} or (continuous case)T={T(t)/t=≥0}. Using ergodic theory and Hilbert-Schmidt operators, the Cesàro limits (asn→∞) of |〈T n f,f〉|2, |〈T (n)f,f〉|2 are computed (withn∈ℤ+ orn∈ℤ+). Specializing the Hilbert space to beL 2(T,μ) (discrete case) orL 2(ℝ,μ) (continuous case) where μ is a Borel probability measure on the circle group or the line, the Cesàro limit of (asn→±∞, with,n∈ℤ orn∈ℝ) is obtained and interpreted.
