Solving partial differential equations (PDE) with strong form collocation and nonlocal approximation functions such as orthogonal polynomials, trigonometric functions, and radial basis functions exhibits exponential convergence rates; however, it yields a full matrix and suffers from ill conditioning. In this work, we discuss a reproducing kernel collocation method, where the reproducing kernel (RK) shape functions with compact support are used as approximation functions. This approach offers algebraic convergence rate, but the method is stable like the finite element method. We provide mathematical results consisting of the optimal error estimation, upper bound of condition number, and the desirable relationship between the number of nodal points and the number of collocation points. We show that using RK shape function for collocation of strong form, the degree of polynomial basis functions has to be larger than one for convergence, which is different from the condition for weak formulation. We explore convergence notions for bivariate functions that yield convergence and stability results for their maxinf (or minsup) points. This lays the foundations for the study of the stability of solutions to variational inequalities, the solutions of inclusions, of Nash equilibrium points of non-cooperative games and Walras economic equilibrium points, of fixed points, of solutions to inclusions, the primal and dual solutions of convex optimization problems and of zero-sum games. We consider an interpolation process for the class of functions with finitely many singular points by means of rational functions whose poles coincide with the singular points of the function under interpolation. The interpolation nodes form a triangular matrix. We find necessary and sufficient conditions for the uniform convergence of sequences of interpolation fractions to the function under interpolation on every compact set disjoint from the singular points of the function and other conditions for convergence. We generalize and improve the familiar results on the interpolation of functions with finitely many singular points by rational fractions and of entire functions by polynomials.  相似文献

Conditional Value at Risk (CVaR) has been recently used to approximate a chance constraint. In this paper, we study the convergence of stationary points, when sample average approximation (SAA) method is applied to a CVaR approximated joint chance constrained stochastic minimization problem. Specifically, we prove under some moderate conditions that optimal solutions and stationary points, obtained from solving sample average approximated problems, converge with probability one to their true counterparts. Moreover, by exploiting the recent results on large deviation of random functions and sensitivity results for generalized equations, we derive exponential rate of convergence of stationary points. The discussion is also extended to the case, when CVaR approximation is replaced by a difference of two convex functions (DC-approximation). Some preliminary numerical test results are reported.  相似文献

Summary This paper analyses the convergence of spline collocation methods for singular integro-differential equations over the interval (0.1). As trial functions we utilize smooth polynomial splines the degree of which coincides with the order of the equation. Depending on the choice of collocation points we obtain sufficient and even necessary conditions for the convergence in sobolev norms. We give asymptotic error estimates and some numerical results.  相似文献

The r-quick limit points of normalized sample paths and empirical distribution functions of mixing processes are characterized. An r-quick version of Bahadur-Kiefer-type representation for sample quantiles is established, which yields the r-quick limit points of quantile processes. These results are applied to linear functions of order statistics. Some results on r-quick convergence of certain Gaussian processes are also established.  相似文献

We propose a unified framework to study various versions of Dinkelbach-type algorithms for solving the generalized fractional programming problem. Classical algorithms used carefully selected iterate points and incorporated subtle convergence proofs. Our generic algorithm, however, is natural and simple. Moreover, the convergence analysis can be carried out through geometric observations and fundamental properties of convex functions. Consequently, the classical results are either refined or strengthened with new insights.  相似文献

This paper focuses on finite minimax problems with many functions, and their solution by means of exponential smoothing. We conduct run-time complexity and rate of convergence analysis of smoothing algorithms and compare them with those of SQP algorithms. We find that smoothing algorithms may have only sublinear rate of convergence, but as shown by our complexity results, their slow rate of convergence may be compensated by small computational work per iteration. We present two smoothing algorithms with active-set strategies and novel precision-parameter adjustment schemes. Numerical results indicate that the algorithms are competitive with other algorithms from the literature, and especially so when a large number of functions are nearly active at stationary points.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a new modified proximal point algorithm for finding a common element of the set of common minimizers of a finite family of convex and lower semi-continuous functions and the set of common fixed points of a finite family of nonexpansive mappings in complete CAT(0) spaces, and prove some convergence theorems of the proposed algorithm under suitable conditions. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the proposed method and convergence result. Our results improve and extend the corresponding results existing in the literature.  相似文献

For functions of ΛBV, we study the convergence of the partial sums of interpolating polynomials. An estimate is found for the Fourier-Lagrange coefficients of these functions. For functions in BV, convergence is shown at points of discontinuity if the order of the polynomial increases sufficiently rapidly compared to the order of the partial sum. A Dirichlet-Jordan type theorem is shown for functions of harmonic bounded variation, and this result is shown to be best possible.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new iterative scheme for finding a fixed points of continuous functions on an arbitrary interval. The convergence theorems are also established. In this article, we develop a general theory of exact parametric penalty functions for constrained optimization problems. The main advantage of the method of parametric penalty functions is the fact that a parametric penalty function can be both smooth and exact unlike the standard (i.e. non-parametric) exact penalty functions that are always nonsmooth. We obtain several necessary and/or sufficient conditions for the exactness of parametric penalty functions, and for the zero duality gap property to hold true for these functions. We also prove some convergence results for the method of parametric penalty functions, and derive necessary and sufficient conditions for a parametric penalty function to not have any stationary points outside the set of feasible points of the constrained optimization problem under consideration. In the second part of the paper, we apply the general theory of exact parametric penalty functions to a class of parametric penalty functions introduced by Huyer and Neumaier, and to smoothing approximations of nonsmooth exact penalty functions. The general approach adopted in this article allowed us to unify and significantly sharpen many existing results on parametric penalty functions.  相似文献

Power series with rational exponents on the real numbers field and the Levi-Civita field are studied. We derive a radius of convergence for power series with rational exponents over the field of real numbers that depends on the coefficients and on the density of the exponents in the series. Then we generalize that result and study power series with rational exponents on the Levi-Civita field. A radius of convergence is established that asserts convergence under a weak topology and reduces to the conventional radius of convergence for real power series. It also asserts strong (order) convergence for points whose distance from the center is infinitely smaller than the radius of convergence. Then we study a class of functions that are given locally by power series with rational exponents, which are shown to form a commutative algebra over the Levi-Civita field; and we study the differentiability properties of such functions within their domain of convergence.  相似文献

We construct iteration functions for the simultaneous computation of the solutions of a system of equations, with local quadratic convergence: they generalize to the multivariate case the well-known Weierstrass function for polynomials, which is expected to be globally convergent except on a zero-measured set of starting points. We clarify these functions using univariate interpolation. Both for polynomials and algebraic systems with real coefficients, we extend the conjecture of global convergence to the research of real roots or solutions.  相似文献

We classify in this paper different augmented Lagrangian functions into three unified classes. Based on two unified formulations, we construct, respectively, two convergent augmented Lagrangian methods that do not require the global solvability of the Lagrangian relaxation and whose global convergence properties do not require the boundedness of the multiplier sequence and any constraint qualification. In particular, when the sequence of iteration points does not converge, we give a sufficient and necessary condition for the convergence of the objective value of the iteration points. We further derive two multiplier algorithms which require the same convergence condition and possess the same properties as the proposed convergent augmented Lagrangian methods. The existence of a global saddle point is crucial to guarantee the success of a dual search. We generalize in the second half of this paper the existence theorems for a global saddle point in the literature under the framework of the unified classes of augmented Lagrangian functions.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate how three well-known modes of convergence for (real-valued) functions are related to one another. In particular, we consider order convergence, pointwise convergence and continuous convergence of sequences of nearly finite normal lower semi-continuous functions. There is a natural comparison to be made between the results we obtain for convergence of sequences of semi-continuous functions, and classic results on the convergence of sequences of measurable functions.  相似文献

In this article, using Bregman functions, we first introduce new modified Mann and Halpern's iterations for finding common fixed points of an infinite family of Bregman relatively nonexpansive mappings in the framework of Banach spaces. Furthermore, we prove the strong convergence theorems for the sequences produced by the methods. Finally, we apply these results for approximating zeroes of accretive operators. Our results improve and generalize many known results in the current literature.  相似文献
