Spaces of rapidly decreasing functions on a line, which are infinitely differentiable everywhere except at zero, where there is a fixed singularity for the given space, are considered. Two new analytical formulae expressing explicitly the derivatives of Chebyshev polynomials of the third and fourth kinds of any degree and of any order in terms of Chebyshev polynomials of the third and fourth kinds themselves are proved.Two other explicit formulae which express the third and fourth kinds Chebyshev expansion coefficients of a general-order derivative of an infinitely differentiable function in terms of their original expansion coefficients are also given.Two new reduction formulae for summing some terminating hypergeometric functions of unit argument are deduced.As an application of how to use Chebyshev polynomials of the third and fourth kinds for solving high-order boundary value problems,two spectral Galerkin numerical solutions of a special linear twelfth-order boundary value problem are given.  相似文献

We develop a modification of the energy inequality method and use it to prove the well-posedness of the Goursat problem for linear second-order hyperbolic differential equations with operator coefficients whose domains depend on the two-dimensional time. An energy inequality for strong solutions of this Goursat problem is derived with the help of abstract smoothing operators, and we prove that the range of the problem is dense by using properties of a regularizing Cauchy problem whose inverse operator is a family of smoothing operators of a new type. We give an example of a well-posed boundary value problem for a two-dimensional complete second-order hyperbolic partial differential equation with Goursat conditions and with a boundary condition depending on the two-dimensional time.  相似文献

Riemann and Goursat step data problems for extensible nonlinear elastic strings are solved in the class of regulated functions. In the first paragraph, the solution to the simplest initial and boundary value problem, i.e., Goursat problem in strains, is constructed. This solution points out four vector-valued functions of a vector variable, which are the tools used in solving the Goursat problem in velocity and the Riemann problem.  相似文献

In order to construct global solutions to two-dimensional(2 D for short)Riemann problems for nonlinear hyperbolic systems of conservation laws,it is important to study various types of wave interactions.This paper deals with two types of wave interactions for a 2 D nonlinear wave system with a nonconvex equation of state:Rarefaction wave interaction and shock-rarefaction composite wave interaction.In order to construct solutions to these wave interactions,the authors consider two types of Goursat problems,including standard Goursat problem and discontinuous Goursat problem,for a 2 D selfsimilar nonlinear wave system.Global classical solutions to these Goursat problems are obtained by the method of characteristics.The solutions constructed in the paper may be used as building blocks of solutions of 2 D Riemann problems.  相似文献

We consider the Cauchy–Goursat initial characteristic problem for nonlinear wave equations with power nonlinearity. Depending on the power of nonlinearity and the parameter in an equation we investigate the problem on existence and nonexistence of global solutions of the Cauchy–Goursat problem.
