Electron impact ionization of SiCl<Subscript>2</Subscript> and SiCl

We measured absolute partial cross sections for the formation of all singly charged positive ions produced by electron impact on SiCl₂ and SiCl from threshold to 200 eV using the fast-neutral-beam technique. Some of the cross section curves exhibit an unusual energy dependence with a pronounced low-energy maximum at an energy around 30 eV, which may be indicative of the presence of indirect ionization channels. Dissociative ionization channels are dominant for both species. The experimentally determined total single ionization cross sections for both species agree very well with calculated cross sections using the Deutsch-M?rk (DM) formalism. A brief summary of the ionization cross sections determined for all four SiCl_x (x=1–4) species is given highlighting similarities and differences.     

Positron scattering and ionization of neon atoms—theoretical investigations

Although positron scattering with inert gas atoms has been studied in theory as well as in experiment, there are discrepancies. The present work reports all the major total cross sections of e+-neon scattering at incident energies above ionization threshold, originating from a complex potential formalism. Elastic and cumulative inelastic scatterings are treated in the complex spherical e+-atom potential. Our total inelastic cross section includes positronium formation together with ionization and excitation channels in Ne. Because of the Ps formation channel it is difficult to separate out ionization cross sections from the total inelastic cross sections. An approximate method similar to electron-atom scattering has been applied to bifurcate ionization and cumulative excitation cross sections at energies from threshold to 2000 eV. Comparisons of present results with available data are made. An important outcome of this work is the relative contribution of different scattering processes, which we have shown by a bar-chart at the ionization peak.     

Double-hump resonance structure of the cross sections for electron impact ionization of Ar5+

Configuration-average distorted-wave calculations are carried out for electron-impact ionization of Ar5+. Both direct ionization and the indirect excitation autoionization processes are included in our calculations. Our theoretical values are in quite reasonable agreement with the experimental data. The indirect processes contribute up to 50% to the total ionization cross sections. The possible origin of double-hump resonance structure of the cross sections is demonstrated and the contributions of metastable states are also taken into account.     

Threshold phenomena in the cross sections for atomic photoprocesses in a strong laser field

Using the effective-range theory in the complex-quasienergy method for describing a weakly bound electron in a laser field, it has been shown that the cross sections for above-threshold ionization and generation of the high harmonics of laser radiation increase significantly (resonant-like) near the threshold of one of the multiphoton ionization channels. The dependence of the enhancement effects on the orbital angular momentum of the bound electron shows that these effects are caused by the threshold phenomena in the cross sections for multichannel reactions that are modified by the strong laser field.     

Mn and Cu K-shell ionization cross sections by slow electron impact

Near the threshold energy, electron induced Mn and Cu K-shell ionization cross sections have been measured. Except for energies very close to threshold, the results are in good agreement with the semi-empirical formula of Green and Cosslett.

Chemi-ionization in K-I collisions

Accurate partial and integral cross sections for chemi-ionization have been calculated for a two-state model representing collisions between ground state K and I atoms from threshold to 6 eV relative energy using a coupled equations method. In addition, these quantities have been calculated in the Landau-Zener and Stueckelberg approximations. They furnish results for the charge transfer channel which agree with the accurate ones, down to the threshold energy, to within 7%. The integral cross sections for charge neutralization are obtained from the ionization cross sections by microscopic reversibility, and it diverges asE ^?1.     

Excitation of Autoionization States and Electronic Stopping Powers at Collisions of Slow Ions with a Solid

It has been shown that the excitation of autoionization states at collisions of keV ions with a solid is decisive for inelastic energy loss and, correspondingly, the electronic stopping power dE/dx. It has been proposed to estimate the electronic stopping power dE/dx using the relation of cross sections for the excitation of autoionization states to ionization cross sections. When ionization cross sections are unknown, scaling is used to calculate ionization cross sections at the excitation of the L and M shells. A threshold dependence of the electronic stopping power dE/dx on the energy of bombarding ions has been predicted.     

Electron scattering with LiH molecule including a realistic dipole potential

Various electron scattering processes are examined theoretically for the strongly polar lithium hydride molecule. We have introduced a realistic dipole potential to calculate rotational cross sections of LiH upon electron impact. From the ionization threshold onwards total cross sections for elastic and inelastic scattering are evaluated in the complex molecular potential, and total ionization cross sections are extracted by CSP-ic method developed in recent years. While most of the results are new some indirect comparisons are made to draw conclusions.     

C原子、离子光电离过程的规律研究

 基于Dirac-Slater自洽场方法，计算了C原子及各价离子从低能到高能的光电离截面。通过各种理论计算结果的比较，分析了Kramers公式的适用性。定量地考察了多极效应和相对论效应在不同能区对光电离截面的影响，并研究了光电离截面随光子能量、壳层、电离度变化的规律。
