Electronic transport through parallel coupled double quantum dots (DQD) with Rashba spin-orbit (RSO) interaction is investigated in Kondo regime by means of the slave-boson mean field approximation at zero temperature. By the co-action of the phase factor deduced by RSO interaction and the magnetic flux penetrating the parallel DQD, an interesting spin-dependent Kondo effect emerges. The molecular state representation theory is used to obtain a detailed understanding of the spin-dependent Kondo effect. It is shown that Quantum interference between the bonding Kondo state and antibonding state, which is modulated by the RSO interaction, plays a crucial role to the density of states and the linear conductance. The magnitude of each spin component conductance can be modulated by the RSO interaction strength. The conductance of each spin component exhibits 4π-periodic function with respect to φR. Moreover, the swap operation in the parallel DQD system can be implemented by tuning the RSO interaction.  相似文献

We investigate electronic transport through a parallel double quantum dot (DQD) system with strong on-site Coulomb interaction, as well as the interdot tunnelling. By applying numerical renormalization group method, the ground state of the system and the transmission probability at zero temperature are obtained. For a system of quantum dots with degenerate energy levels and small interdot tunnel coupling, the spin correlations between the DQDs is ferromagnetic, and the ground state of the system is a spin-1 triplet state. The linear conductance will reach the unitary limit (2e^2/h) due to the Kondo effect at low temperature. As the interdot tunnel coupling increases, there is a quantum phase transition from ferromagnetic to anti-ferromagnetic spin correlation in DQDs and the linear conductance is strongly suppressed.  相似文献

We propose a theoretical scheme to realize quantum state engineering of a nanomechanical resonator (NAMR) through the coupling between the NAMR and a double quantum dot (DQD). Hybrid entangled states between the NAMR and the DQD and superposed coherent states of the NAMR are created explicitly. It is shown that quantum state tomography for the NAMR can be implemented through carrying out unitary operations on the NAMR and the DQD. It is indicated that the scheme is feasible at the reach of the present technology.  相似文献

The effect of localized spins on the quantum coherence in solids is discussed. A quantum dot with an odd number of electrons can be a model system for a localized spin. It is experimentally shown that a spin flip scattering by a quantum dot pulls the trigger of quantum decoherence. On the other hand, spin flip scattering is the basic process to construct the Kondo singlet state around a magnetic impurity. Through an interference effect of the Kondo state (the Fano–Kondo effect) in a side-coupled dot system, we show experimentally that the Kondo singlet state is quantum mechanically coherent. The analysis of the Fano–Kondo lineshape indicates the locking of the phase shift to π/2, which is in agreement with theoretical predictions. The Fano–Kondo effect is also observed in an Aharonov–Bohm ring, in which a quantum dot is embedded, and also indicates the phase shift locking to π/2.  相似文献

The shot noise of a parallel double quantum dot (DQD) system under the perturbation of microwave fields is investigated in the weak Kondo regime. Peak-valley structures exhibit in the differential conductance and shot noise, and side resonant peaks emerge around the Kondo peak due to the absorption and emission of photons. The shot noise is sensitively dependent on the adjusting approach through changing the gate voltages. Large resonant Fano factor accompanying photon-induced side peaks appear by simultaneously varying the two gate voltages. The photon suppression and enhancement of shot noise have been evaluated corresponding to the coherent and incoherent current correlation. The destructive interference causes the suppression of shot noise by changing the Aharonov–Bohm phase.  相似文献

A new mechanism of resonance Kondo tunneling via a composite quantum dot (QD) is proposed. It is shown that, owing to the hidden dynamic spin symmetry, the Kondo effect can be induced by a finite voltage eV applied to the contacts at an even number N of electrons in a QD with zero spin in the ground state. As an example, a double QD is considered in a parallel geometry with N=2, which possesses the SO(4) type symmetry characteristic of a singlet-triplet pair. In this system, the Kondo peak of conductance appears at an eV value compensating for the exchange splitting.  相似文献

We investigate the effects induced by ferromagnetic contacts attached to a serial double quantum dot. Spin polarization generates effective magnetic fields and suppresses the Kondo effect in each dot. The superexchange interaction J(AFM), tuned by the interdot tunneling rate t, can be used to compensate the effective fields and restore the Kondo resonance when the contact polarizations are aligned. As a consequence, the direction of the spin conductance can be controlled and even reversed using electrostatic gates alone. Our results demonstrate a new approach for controlling spin-dependent transport in carbon nanotube double dot devices.  相似文献

The conductance across a quantum dot can be influenced by levels localized in the dot and having little hybridization with the conduction channel. Fano lineshapes arising in resonant transmission measurements, imply interference between the localized and extended states. By applying a magnetic orthogonal field, the total spin of a quantum dot can be tuned. Electron correlations drive the dot through level crossings to higher spin states. Such crossings can give rise to Kondo conductance when the dot is at Coulomb blockade close to a magnetic field induced level degeneracy. In a previous work [P. Stefański, A. Tagliacozzo, B.R. Bulka, Phys. Rev. Lett. 93 (2004) 186805] we have shown that a Fano-like pattern also appears when the continuum of the conduction states originates from a broad Kondo resonance. A bunch of localized core levels, weakly coupled to the Kondo resonance, imprints the broad Kondo peak with Fano lineshapes. A signature of the presence of correlations in the quantum dot is discussed.  相似文献

Selective and large polarization of current injected into semiconductor (SC) is predicted in ferromagnet (FM)/quantum dot (QD)/SC system by varying the gate voltage above the Kondo temperature. In addition, spin-dependent Kondo effect is also revealed below Kondo temperature. It is found that Kondo resonances for up spin state are suppressed with increasing of the polarization P of the FM lead. While the down one is enhanced. The Kondo peak for up spin is disappear at P=1.  相似文献

We study a double quantum dot (DQD) coupled to a strongly biased quantum point contact (QPC), each embedded in independent electric circuits. For weak interdot tunneling we observe a finite current flowing through the Coulomb blockaded DQD in response to a strong bias on the QPC. The direction of the current through the DQD is determined by the relative detuning of the energy levels of the two quantum dots. The results are interpreted in terms of a quantum ratchet phenomenon in a DQD energized by a nearby QPC.  相似文献

Using the Keldysh nonequilibrium Green function and equation-of-motion technique, this paper investigates the spin-polarized transport properties of the T-shaped double quantum dots (DQD) coupled to two ferromagnetic leads. There are both Fano effect and Kondo effect in the system, and due to their mutual interaction, the density of states, the current, and the differential conductance of the system depend sensitively on the spin-polarized strength. Thus the obtained results show that this system is provided with excellent spin filtering property, which indicates that this system may be a candidate for spin valve transistors in the spintronics.  相似文献

We find that Kondo resonant conductance can occur in a quantum dot in the Coulomb blockade regime with an even number of electrons N. The contacts are attached to the dot in a pillar configuration, and a magnetic field B( perpendicular) along the axis is applied. B( perpendicular) lifts the spin degeneracy of the dot energies. Usually, this prevents the system from developing the Kondo effect. Tuning B( perpendicular) to the value B(*) where levels with different total spin cross restores both the degeneracy and the Kondo effect. We analyze a dot charged with N = 2 electrons. Coupling to the contacts is antiferromagnetic due to a spin selection rule and, in the Kondo state, the charge is unchanged while the total spin on the dot is S = 1/2.  相似文献

We report a strong Kondo effect (Kondo temperature approximately 4 K) at high magnetic field in a selective area growth semiconductor quantum dot. The Kondo effect is ascribed to a singlet-triplet transition in the ground state of the dot. At the transition, the low-temperature conductance approaches the unitary limit. Away from the transition, for low bias voltages and temperatures, the conductance is sharply reduced. The observed behavior is compared to predictions for a two-stage Kondo effect in quantum dots coupled to single-channel leads.  相似文献

A double quantum dot inserted in parallel between two metallic leads can entangle the electron spin with the orbital (dot index) degree of freedom. An Aharonov-Bohm orbital phase can be transferred to the spinor wave function, providing a geometrical control of the spin precession around a fixed magnetic field. A fully coherent behavior occurs in a mixed orbital-spin Kondo regime. Evidence for the spin precession can be obtained, either using spin-polarized metallic leads or by placing the double dot in one branch of a metallic loop.  相似文献

The T=0 transport properties of a wire interacting with a lateral two-level quantum dot are studied by using an exact numerical calculation. The wire conductance, the spin–spin correlation and the Kondo temperature are obtained as a function of the dot level energy spacing. When the dot has two electrons and spin SD1, the wire current is totally quenched by the S=1 Kondo effect. The Kondo temperature is maximum at the singlet–triplet transition and its dependence upon the dot energy spacing follows a non-universal scaling law.  相似文献

We quantitatively describe the main features of the magnetically induced conductance modulation of a Kondo quantum dot-or chessboard pattern-in terms of a constant-interaction double quantum dot model. We show that the analogy with a double dot holds down to remarkably low magnetic fields. The analysis is extended by full 3D spin density functional calculations. Introducing an effective Kondo coupling parameter, the chessboard pattern is self-consistently computed as a function of magnetic field and electron number, which enables us to explain our experimental data quantitatively.  相似文献

We study the spin dependent transport through a quantum dot connected to ferromagnetic leads. Using the non-equilibrium generalization of the non-crossing approximation for finite Coulomb repulsion U, we compute the spin polarized conductance, the local average occupancies and the local densities of states in the Kondo regime. We show that transport properties are strongly affected if we allow double occupancy by using a finite value for U. In the framework of our model, we have successfully reproduced the recent experimental finding of an electrically controlled magnetic moment on a carbon nanotube quantum dot coupled to ferromagnetic nickel leads [3]. Besides, in addition to the well known splitting of the Kondo peak in the density of states due to the presence of ferromagnetic leads, we find that the additional splitting due to non-zero bias voltage leads to an unexpected increase of the total conductance, which has also been observed by Hauptmann et al.  相似文献

We report the observation of Kondo physics in a spin-3/2 hole quantum dot. The dot is formed close to pinch-off in a hole quantum wire defined in an undoped AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructure. We clearly observe two distinctive hallmarks of quantum dot Kondo physics. First, the Zeeman spin splitting of the zero-bias peak in the differential conductance is independent of the gate voltage. Second, this splitting is twice as large as the splitting for the lowest one-dimensional subband. We show that the Zeeman splitting of the zero-bias peak is highly anisotropic and attribute this to the strong spin-orbit interaction for holes in GaAs.  相似文献

We report on the transport study of a double quantum dot (DQD) device made from a freestanding, single crystalline InSb nanosheet. The freestanding nanosheet is grown by molecular beam epitaxy and the DQD is defined by the top gate technique. Through the transport measurements, we demonstrate how a single quantum dot (QD) and a DQD can be defined in an InSb nanosheet by tuning voltages applied to the top gates. We also measure the charge stability diagrams of the DQD and show that the charge states and the inter-dot coupling between the two individual QDs in the DQD can be efficiently regulated by the top gates. Numerical simulations for the potential profile and charge density distribution in the DQD have been performed and the results support the experimental findings and provide a better understanding of fabrication and transport characteristics of the DQD in the InSb nanosheet. The achieved DQD in the two-dimensional InSb nanosheet possesses pronounced benefits in lateral scaling and can thus serve as a new building block for the developments of quantum computation and quantum simulation technologies.  相似文献
