Weight filtrations via commuting automorphisms

We consider a filtration of theK-theory space for a regular Noetherian ring proposed by Goodwillie and Lichtenbaum and show that its successive quotients are geometric realizations of explicit simplicial Abelian groups. The filtration in weightt involvest-tuples of commuting automorphisms of projectiveR-modules. It remains to show that the Adams operations act appropriately on the filtration.Supported by NSF grant DMS 90-02715. 奇Hamiltonian型滤过李超代数HO

本文应用象空间极小维数的方法研究了Cartan型模李超代数HO的非平凡可迁滤过(HO,R)的不变性.应用滤过的不变性得到模李超代数HO的某些内蕴性质,从而得到此类李超代数在同构意义下的分类.     

New obstructions to doubly slicing knots

A knot in the 3-sphere is called doubly slice if it is a slice of an unknotted 2-sphere in the 4-sphere. We give a bi-sequence of new obstructions for a knot being doubly slice. We construct it following the idea of Cochran-Orr-Teichner's filtration of the classical knot concordance group. This yields a bi-filtration of the monoid of knots (under the connected sum operation) indexed by pairs of half integers. Doubly slice knots lie in the intersection of this bi-filtration. We construct examples of knots which illustrate the non-triviality of this bi-filtration at all levels. In particular, these are new examples of algebraically doubly slice knots that are not doubly slice, and many of these knots are slice. Cheeger-Gromov's von Neumann rho invariants play a key role to show non-triviality of this bi-filtration. We also show some classical invariants are reflected at the initial levels of this bi-filtration, and obtain a bi-filtration of the double concordance group.     

Weights in the cohomology of toric varieties

We describe the weight filtration in the cohomology of toric varieties. We present a role of the Frobenius automorphism in an elementary way. We prove that equivariant intersection homology of an arbitrary toric variety is pure. We obtain results concerning Koszul duality: nonequivariant intersection cohomology is equal to the cohomology of the Koszul complexIH _T ^* (X)⊗H*(T). Forme de Dirichlet sur un espace de Poisson

On construit une forme de Dirichlet sur un espace de Poisson. Cette construction permet drobtenir une condition assez simple sur une variable aléatoire utilisée pour un grossissement initial de filtration. On fait le lien avec une formule drintégration par parties et lropérateur de Malliavin sur un espace de Poisson.A Dirichlet form is built on a Poisson space. Thus a sufficient condition is done so that a random variable L allows an initial enlargement of filtration: t} \mathcal{F}_S v\sigma \left( L \right)$$ " align="middle" border="0"> where is the natural filtration of the Poisson process. Moreover, the link is done between this Dirichlet space and a stochastic variations calculus on the Poisson space.     

Adams Operations for Bivariant K-Theory and a Filtration Using Projective Lines

We establish the existence of Adams operations on the members of a filtration of K-theory which is defined using products of projective lines. We also show that this filtration induces the gamma filtration on the rational K-groups of a smooth variety over a field of characteristic zero.     

Algebras without noetherian filtrations

We provide examples of finitely generated noetherian PI algebras for which there is no finite dimensional filtration with a noetherian associated graded ring; thus we answer negatively a question of Lorenz (1988).

     

Pure homology of algebraic varieties

We show that for a complete complex algebraic variety the pure term of the weight filtration in homology coincides with the image of intersection homology. Therefore pure homology is topologically invariant. To obtain slightly more general results we introduce image homology for noncomplete varieties.     

Symmetric Group Modules with Specht and Dual Specht Filtrations

The author and Nakano recently proved that multiplicities in a Specht filtration of a symmetric group module are well-defined precisely when the characteristic is at least five. This result suggested the possibility of a symmetric group theory analogous to that of good filtrations and tilting modules for GL _n (k). This article is an initial attempt at such a theory. We obtain two sufficient conditions that ensure a module has a Specht filtration, and a formula for the filtration multiplicities. We then study the categories of modules that satisfy the conditions, in the process obtaining a new result on Specht module cohomology.

Next we consider symmetric group modules that have both Specht and dual Specht filtrations. Unlike tilting modules for GL _n (k), these modules need not be self-dual, and there is no nice tensor product theorem. We prove a correspondence between indecomposable self-dual modules with Specht filtrations and a collection of GL _n (k)-modules which behave like tilting modules under the tilting functor. We give some evidence that indecomposable self-dual symmetric group modules with Specht filtrations may be indecomposable self dual trivial source modules.     

Vector bundles with holomorphic connection over a projective manifold with tangent bundle of nonnegative degree

For a projective manifold whose tangent bundle is of nonnegative degree, a vector bundle on it with a holomorphic connection actually admits a compatible flat holomorphic connection, if the manifold satisfies certain conditions. The conditions in question are on the Harder-Narasimhan filtration of the tangent bundle, and on the Neron-Severi group.

     

Local coherence of hearts associated with Thomason filtrations

Any Thomason filtration of a commutative ring yields (at least) two t-structures in the derived category of the ring, one of which is compactly generated [19], [20]. We study the hearts of these two t-structures and prove that they coincide in case of a weakly bounded below filtration. Prompted by [39], in which it is proved that the heart of a compactly generated t-structure in a triangulated category with coproduct is a locally finitely presented Grothendieck category, we study the local coherence of the hearts associated with a weakly bounded below Thomason filtration, achieving a useful recursive characterisation in case of a finite length filtration. Low length cases involve hereditary torsion classes of finite type of the ring, and even their Happel–Reiten–Smalø hearts; in these cases, the relevant characterisations are given by few module-theoretic conditions.     

A Brylinski filtration for affine Kac–Moody algebras

Braverman and Finkelberg have recently proposed a conjectural analogue of the geometric Satake isomorphism for untwisted affine Kac–Moody groups. As part of their model, they conjecture that (at dominant weights) Lusztig's q-analog of weight multiplicity is equal to the Poincare series of the principal nilpotent filtration of the weight space, as occurs in the finite-dimensional case. We show that the conjectured equality holds for all affine Kac–Moody algebras if the principal nilpotent filtration is replaced by the principal Heisenberg filtration. The main body of the proof is a Lie algebra cohomology vanishing result. We also give an example to show that the Poincare series of the principal nilpotent filtration is not always equal to the q-analog of weight multiplicity. Finally, we give some partial results for indefinite Kac–Moody algebras.     

Some properties of general linear supergroups and of Schur superalgebras

It is shown that the category of rational supermodules over a general linear supergroup is a highest weight category. More exactly, we construct superanalogs of the theory of modules with good filtration and of the dual theory of modules with Weyl’s. Locality Criteria for Cocommutative Hopf Algebras

We prove that a finite-dimensional cocommutative Hopf algebra H is local, if and only if the subalgebra generated by the first term of its coradical filtration H ₁ is local. In particular if H is connected, H is local if and only if all the primitive elements of H are nilpotent.     

Invariants for Automorphisms of the Underlying Algebras Relative to Lie Algebras of Cartan Type

Let X denote a finite or infinite dimensional Lie algebra of Cartan type W, S, H or K over a field of characteristic p 〉 3. In this paper it is proved that certain filtrations of the underlying algebras are invariant under the admissible groups relative to Lie algebras of Cartan type X.
