We theoretically investigate the effect of the interdot Coulomb repulsion on Kondo resonances in the series-coupled double quantum dot coupled to two ferromagnetic leads. The Hamiltonian of our system is solved by means of the slave-boson mean-field approximation, and the variation of the density of states, the transmission probability, the occupation number, and the Kondo temperature with the interdot Coulomb repulsion are discussed in the Kondo regime. The density of states is calculated for various interdot Coulomb repulsions with both parallel and antiparallel lead-polarization alignments. Our results reveal that the interdot Coulomb repulsion greatly influences the physical property of this system, and relevant underlying physics of this system is discussed.

Fano Interference versus Kondo Effect in Strongly Correlated T-Shaped Quantum Dots Embedded in an Aharonov-Bohm Ring 下载免费PDF全文
We theoretically investigate the properties of the ground state of the strongly correlated T-shaped double quantum dots embedded in an Aharonov-Bohm ring in the Kondo regime by means of the one-impurity Anderson Hamiltonian. It is found that in this system, the persistent current depends sensitively on the parity and size of the ring. With the increase of interdot coupling, the persistent current is suppressed due to the enhancing Fano interference weakening the Kondo effect. Moreover, when the spin of quantum dot embedded in the Aharonov- Bohm ring is screened, the persistent current peak is not affected by interdot coupling. Thus this model may be a new candidate for detecting Kondo screening cloud.

We theoretically study the properties of the ground state of the parallel-coupled double quantum dots embedded in a mesoscopic ring in the Kondo regime by means of the two-impurity Anderson Hamiltonian. The Hamiltonian is solved by means of the slave-boson mean-field theory. We find that in this system, the persistent current depends sensitively on both the parity of this system and the size of the ring. In the strong coupling regime, the giant sharp current peak appears, at the same time, the parity dependence of the persistent current disappears. These imply that in the strong coupling regime, there exists giant Kondo resonance and the two dots can be coupled coherently. Thus this system might be a candidate for future device applications.

We study a Kondo spin coupled to a mesoscopic interacting quantum dot that is described by the "universal Hamiltonian." The problem is solved numerically by diagonalizing the system Hamiltonian in a good-spin basis and analytically in the weak and strong Kondo coupling limits. The ferromagnetic exchange interaction within the dot leads to a stepwise increase of the ground-state spin (Stoner staircase), which is modified nontrivially by the Kondo interaction. We find that the spin-transition steps move to lower values of the exchange coupling for weak Kondo interaction, but shift back up for sufficiently strong Kondo coupling. The interplay between Kondo and ferromagnetic exchange correlations can be probed with experimentally tunable parameters.

Electronic spin precession and interferometry from spin-orbital entanglement in a double quantum dot
A double quantum dot inserted in parallel between two metallic leads can entangle the electron spin with the orbital (dot index) degree of freedom. An Aharonov-Bohm orbital phase can be transferred to the spinor wave function, providing a geometrical control of the spin precession around a fixed magnetic field. A fully coherent behavior occurs in a mixed orbital-spin Kondo regime. Evidence for the spin precession can be obtained, either using spin-polarized metallic leads or by placing the double dot in one branch of a metallic loop.

We consider a two-terminal Aharonov-Bohm (AB) interferometer with a quantum dot inserted in one path of the AB ring.
We investigate the transport properties of this system in and out of the Kondo regime. We utilize perturbation theory to
calculate the electron self-energy of the quantum dot with respect to the intradot Coulomb interaction. We show the expression
of the Kondo temperature as a function of the AB phase together with its dependence on other characteristics such as the
linewidth of the ring and the finite Coulomb interaction and the energy levels of the quantum dot. The current oscillates
periodically as a function
of the AB phase. The amplitude of the current oscillation decreases with increasing Coulomb interaction. For a given temperature,
the electron transport through the AB interferometer
can be selected to be in or out of the Kondo regime by changing the magnetic flux threading perpendicular to the AB ring of
the system.
