From Maxwell's equations and Post's formalism,a generalized chiral nonlinear Schrodinger equation(CNLSE) is obtained for the nonlinear chiral fiber.This equation governs light transmission through a dispersive nonlinear chiral fiber with joint action of chirality in linear and nonlinear ways.The generalized CNLSE shows a modulation of chirality to the effect of attenuation and nonlinearity compared with the case for a conventional fiber.Simulations based on the split-step beam propagation method reveal the role of nonlinearity with cooperation to chirality playing in the pulse evolution.By adjusting its strength the role of chirality in forming solitons is demonstrated for a given circularly polarized component.The application of nonlinear optical rotation is also discussed in an all-optical switch.  相似文献

We study the generalized third-order nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation which admits a one-parameter family of single-hump embedded solitons. Analyzing the spectrum of the linearization operator near the embedded soliton, we show that there exists a resonance pole in the left half-plane of the spectral parameter, which explains linear stability, rather than nonlinear semistability, of embedded solitons. Using exponentially weighted spaces, we approximate the resonance pole both analytically and numerically. We confirm in a near-integrable asymptotic limit that the resonance pole gives precisely the linear decay rate of parameters of the embedded soliton. Using conserved quantities, we qualitatively characterize the stable dynamics of embedded solitons.  相似文献

We present analytical solutions of the one-dimensional nonlinear Schrodinger equations of Bose-Einstein condensates in an expulsive parabolic background with a complex potential and gravitational field, by performing the Darboux transformation from a trivial seed solution. It is shown that under a safe range of parameter, the shape of bright soliton can be controlled well by adjusting the experimental parameter of the ratio of axial oscillation to radial oscillation and feeding condensates from a thermal cloud. The gravitational field can change the contrail of the bright soliton trains without changing their peak and width.  相似文献

We study the nonlinear dynamics of a DNA molecular system at physiological temperature in a viscous media by using the Peyrard-Bishop model. The nonlinear dynamics of the above system is shown to be governed by the discrete complex Cinzburg-Landau equation. In the non-viscous limit, the equation reduces to the nonlinear Schroedinger equation. Modulational instability criteria are derived for both the cases. On the basis of these criteria, numerical simulations are made, which confirm the analytical predictions. The planar wave solution used as the initial condition makes localized oscillations of base pairs and causes energy localization. The results also show that the viscosity of the solvent in the surrounding damps out the amplitude of wave patterns.  相似文献

Two non-isospectral generalized nonlinear Schrodinger (ONLS) equations, which are two important models of nonlinear excitations of matter waves in Bose-Einstein condensates, are studied. Two novel transformations are constructed such that these two GNLS equations are transformed to the well-known nonlinear Schr6dinger (NLS) equation, which is an isospectral equation. Therefore, once one solution of the NLS equation is provided, we can immediately obtain one solution for two ONLS equations by these transformations. Thus it is unnecessary to solve these two non-isospectral GNLS equations directly. Soliton solutions and periodic solutions are obtained for them by two transformations from the corresponding solutions of the NLS equation, which are generated by Darboux transformation.  相似文献

Kaup and Newell's revised inverse scattering transform for the derivative nonlinear Schrodinger (DNLS) equation is investigated. We compared it with a more reasonable approach proposed recently, which is rigorously proven by the Liouville theorem. It is conduded that Kanp and Newell's revision is only suitable for giving single-soliton solution and can not be generalized to multi-soliton case.  相似文献

In this paper we consider solutions of a nonlinear Schrodinger equation with a parabolic and a periodic potential motivated from the dynamics of Bose-Einstein condensates. Our starting point is the corresponding linear problem which we analyze through regular perturbation and homogenization techniques. We then use Lyapunov-Schmidt theory to establish the persistence and bifurcation of the linear states in the presence of attractive and repulsive nonlinear inter-particle interactions. Stability of such solutions is also examined and a count is given of the potential real, complex and imaginary eigenvalues with negative Krein signature that such solutions may possess. The results are corroborated with numerical computations.  相似文献

We show that the time-dependent nonlinear Schrodinger equation of mean-field theory has limited utility for a one-dimensional condensate of impenetrable bosons. In this paper, exact traveling wave solutions of the conformable differential equations have been examined. By means of the wave transformation and properties of the conformable derivative (CD), conformable nonlinear Schrödinger equation (CNLSE) has been converted into an integer order differential equation. To extract optical solutions, the wave profile has been divided into amplitude and phase components. A new extension of the Bäcklund method has been offered and applied to the CNLSE which has important applications in quantum mechanics. Some novel exact traveling wave solutions to the CNLSE with group velocity dispersion and second order spatiotemporal dispersion coefficients are successfully obtained by means of this method.  相似文献

We consider a modified Noguchi network and study the impact of the nonlinear quadratic dispersion on the dynamics of modulated waves. In the semi-discrete limit, we show that the dynamics of these waves are governed by a nonlinear cubic Schrodinger equation. From the graphical analysis of the coefficients of this equation, it appears that the nonlinear quadratic dispersion counterbalances the effects of the linear dispersion in the frequency domain. Moreover, we establish that this nonlinear quadratic dispersion provokes the disappearance of some regions of modulational instability in the dispersion curve compared to the results earlier obtained by Pelap et al.(Phys. Rev. E 91 022925(2015)). We also find that the nonlinear quadratic dispersion limit considerably affects the nature, stability, and characteristics of the waves which propagate through the system. Furthermore, the results of the numerical simulations performed on the exact equations describing the network are found to be in good agreement with the analytical predictions.  相似文献

We show that both DC and AC Josephson effects with superfluid Fermi atoms in the BCS-BEC crossover can be described at zero temperature by a nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLSE). By comparing our NLSE with mean-field extended BCS calculations, we find that the NLSE is reliable in the AAN side of the crossover up to the unitarity limit. The NLSE can be used for weakly-linked atomic superfluids also in the BCS side of the crossover by taking the tunneling energy as a phenomenological parameter.  相似文献

We investigate the multi-symplectic Euler-box scheme for the nonlinear Schroedinger equation. Two new simple semi-explicit scheme are derived. 本文给出了等离子体中由动力学理论所得到的形成强湍流的高频和低频非线性电流的表达式。根据文献[2]给出的包含有质动力、自生磁场和它们的阻尼效应的方程组,我们推广了Kono等人关于调制不稳定性的分析,得到了在各种情况下由Langmuir波或横波pump波激发的纵波和横波的增长率与参量的关系式。最后,讨论了波包的坍缩动力学问题,把非线性Schrodinger方程的坍缩讨论推广到密度和场耦合的方程组的情况。 关键词:  相似文献

We propose two simple ansaetze that allow us to obtain different analytical solutions for two generalizeal versions of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, such as the averaged dispersive-managed fiber system equation and the extended nonlinear Schrodinger equation which describe the femtosecond pulse propagation in monomode optical fiber. Among these solutions we can find solitary wave and periodic wave solutions representing the propagation of different waveforms in nonlinear media.  相似文献
