In this paper we show numerically that high-energy pulses can be obtained with a figure-eight Erbium-doped fiber laser with large normal net dispersion, and in which an anomalous-dispersion Nonlinear Optical Loop Mirror (NOLM) is used as the effective saturable absorber. One advantage of this configuration over the ring cavity is the possibility to adjust the length of the NOLM loop to avoid overdriving the saturable absorber. The ring section of the laser includes a bandpass filter to balance the combined effects of Kerr nonlinearity and normal dispersion. Strict polarization control is performed in the NOLM as well as in the ring section of the laser. The NOLM is a power-symmetric scheme whose switching relies on nonlinear polarization rotation. This architecture allows a precise control of the low-power NOLM transmission through the orientation of a quarter-wave retarder, whose adjustment is shown to be critical for stable pulsed operation. Pulse formation appears to depend critically on the filter width. If it is wide enough, ps pulses with a large positive linear chirp are produced. After dechirping outside the laser, nearly transform-limited pulses with durations down to 240 fs, energies up to 10 nJ and peak powers beyond 40 kW are predicted.  相似文献

构建了基于损耗非对称非线性光学环镜的8字腔掺铒光纤锁模激光器,并讨论了腔内滤波带宽对腔内脉冲演化和激光器输出特性的影响.在非线性光学环镜中引入双向输出耦合器,耦合器和传输光纤位置的不对称产生非互易性,实现锁模运转.利用自制的可调谐滤波器实验研究了滤波带宽对激光器的影响.当滤波带宽为2.1 nm时,腔内脉冲的演化过程受滤波和孤子效应的共同作用,激光器顺时针和逆时针输出脉冲半高全宽分别为583.7fs和2.94 ps.随着滤波带宽增大,滤波的作用逐渐减弱,激光器两路输出脉冲参数逐渐接近,并接近傅里叶变换极限脉冲.当滤波带宽较大时,腔内脉冲的演化过程受增益谱和孤子效应的共同作用,激光器顺时针和逆时针输出脉冲均为变换极限脉冲,半高全宽约为440 fs.通过调节滤波器中心波长实现了对激光器输出脉冲光谱的连续调谐,调节范围大于30 nm.  相似文献

The advantages of using nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) to compress pulse with slight amplitude fluctuation and reflected energy loss are analyzed in theory. Experimentally the NOLM is placed in an actively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber ring laser to form a figure-eight actively and passively mode-locked fiber laser. 12 ps mode-locked pulses centered at 1.543 μm were obtained with the modulation frequency of 2.498748700 GHz. 3.715 mW output power is achieved with 50 mW pump power.  相似文献

为了探索大模场面积光子晶体光纤锁模激光器在全正色散锁模域内的耗散孤子锁模机理, 以获得更大的单脉冲能量和更高的峰值功率, 本文搭建了以掺镱大模场面积光子晶体光纤作为增益介质的耗散孤子锁模激光器. 激光器使用环形腔结构, 利用非线性偏振旋转以及滤光片提供的耗散作用实现了稳定的锁模运转. 实验中, 从激光器振荡级直接获得了平均功率10 W, 重复频率49.09 MHz(对应202 nJ的单脉冲能量), 脉冲宽度为1.03 ps的稳定锁模脉冲输出, 经过腔外色散补偿得到的脉冲宽度为95.5 fs.  相似文献

以不同滤波器带宽下获得的全正色散光纤激光器耗散孤子作为啁啾脉冲放大(CPA)系统的种子脉冲, 研究了光栅对和光纤展宽器CPA系统输出脉冲的可压缩性. 结果表明, 对于大能量耗散孤子种子脉冲, 当CPA系统采用正色散光纤展宽器时, 光纤群速色散与自相位调制之间的相互作用不仅可抑制耗散孤子脉冲光谱调制的影响, 还可使脉冲在光纤展宽器中自相似演化, 从而可提高CPA输出脉冲的可压缩性. 通过优化光纤展宽器长度, 对于耗散孤子种子源, 采用光纤展宽器的CPA系统输出脉冲可压缩性与主脉冲所占脉冲总能量之比均优于采用光栅对展宽器时的情况.  相似文献

利用非线性光环形镜(NOLM)的可饱和吸收特性实现了可自启动的2μm全光纤高能量被动锁模掺铥光纤激光器。当泵浦功率大于3W时,激光器工作在连续或不稳定脉冲运转状态;泵浦功率达到4.69W后,输出为自启动锁模脉冲,重复频率4.26MHz,中心波长2 061.5nm,光谱半极大宽度18.1nm,平均输出功率8.8mW;继续增加泵浦功率到最大值7.56W,可以得到中心波长2 062.2nm、光谱半极大宽度17.1nm、斜率效率为6.2%、脉冲宽度和能量分别为424fs和65.6nJ的稳定锁模脉冲。这是目前已报道的在未经放大情况下脉冲能量最高的2μm锁模脉冲光纤激光器。  相似文献

利用氧化石墨烯作为可饱和吸收体,在被动锁模全正常色散掺镱光纤激光器中研究了多脉冲的现象,在同一抽运功率不同偏振态下,实验获得了矩形脉冲谐波锁模、耗散孤子谐波锁模、准谐波锁模,脉冲峰值周期性调制,脉冲簇、脉冲束、混沌多重脉冲的多脉冲现象,插入激光腔内的2nm窄带滤波器具有限制增益带宽、对脉冲塑形、诱导多脉冲产生的作用,调节偏振控制器相当于改变腔内增益,是实现不同类型多脉冲现象的主要原因,本实验研究有利于加深对多脉冲动力学行为在正常色散区域氧化石墨烯锁模掺镱光纤激光器中的理解。  相似文献

We experimentally investigate an all-fiber passively mode-locked laser generating ps pulses. The experimental setup is a figure eight fiber laser configuration, including a power-symmetric Nonlinear Optical Loop Mirror (NOLM) with highly twisted low-birefringence fiber in the loop. NOLM switching is achieved by polarization asymmetry between the counter-propagating beams in the loop. We used a Quarter-Wave Retarder in the loop to break the polarization symmetry. Using a polarizer beam-splitter cube as the NOLM output we got the best quality output pulses from the laser. At this output, we are monitoring the output pulse polarization component which is parallel to the input NOLM component. We achieved stable generation of ~25 ps pulses at the repetition frequency of 0.78 MHz with milliwatts average output power. The mode-locked laser ran in stable operation for hours.  相似文献

利用非线性偏振旋转技术,实现了正色散掺铒光纤激光器的自启动锁模,产生了一种新型的增益诱导孤子脉冲输出.该类型脉冲的光谱近似为矩形,半高全宽光谱宽度可达19 nm以上,脉宽为皮秒量级.增益诱导孤子脉冲的形成是增益饱和、光谱滤波效应、腔内色散和各种非线性效应共同作用的结果.同时还分析了脉冲啁啾特性及峰值功率等参数.当抽运功率增加时,该激光器还可以实现双脉冲模式下运转. 关键词: 光纤激光器 增益诱导孤子 啁啾  相似文献

We report on a femtosecond nonlinear amplification fiber laser system using a vector-dispersion compressor, which consists of a transmission grating pair and multipass cell based Gires-Tournois interferometer mirrors. The mirror is designed with nearly zero group-delay dispersion and large negative third-order dispersion. As a result, the third-order dispersion of the compressor can be adjusted independently to compensate the nonlinear phase shift of amplified pulses to reduce the pulse pedestal. With this scheme, the system outputs 44 fs laser pulses with little wing at 26.6 W output average power and 531 nJ pulse energy, corresponding to 10.8 MW peak power.  相似文献

We report the generation of high-energy short pulses from a mode-locked erbium/ytterbium-doped large-mode-area multifilament-core fiber laser operating in the purely anomalous dispersion regime. The self-starting fiber laser emits 400 mW of average output power at a pulse repetition rate of 44 MHz, corresponding to a pulse energy of 9.1 nJ. The laser produces near transform-limited output pulses with pulse duration of 1.6 ps, corresponding to 5 kW peak power. This new type of low-nonlinearity fibers demonstrates the power and energy scaling potential of fiber-based short pulse lasers in the eye-safe region.  相似文献

在理论上分析了利用非线性光学环形镜作为等效可饱和吸收体压缩脉冲进行锁模的物理机制。利用8字形主被动混合锁模的结构在调制频率2.498749GHz下,在1.543μm处获得了12ps的锁模脉冲输出,对应谱宽0.22nm,时间脉宽积0.33。在抽运功率50mW情况下,输出脉冲平均功率3.715mW。在调制频率2.499344GHz、2.499114GHz和2.498999GHz时分别并获得了2~4阶幅度较为均衡的有理数谐波锁模脉冲序列。  相似文献

We analyse numerically the capabilities of a power-symmetric nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) in the ultrashort pulse regime for high-quality amplitude regeneration of an optical signal. The device, which operates through nonlinear polarisation rotation, includes twisted, anomalous-dispersion fibre and a quarter-wave retarder. For particular adjustments of the retarder orientation, and a circularly polarised input beam, the output energy characteristic flattens near the switching energy, a property that can be used to eliminate large amplitude fluctuations in an optical signal. The group velocity mismatch between polarisation components introduced by twist is mitigated by the interplay between anomalous dispersion and the nonlinear Kerr effect, although strong twist should be avoided as it still introduces substantial pulse distortion. Contrary to other designs, where a plateau characteristic requires a large power imbalance between the counter-propagating beams, both pulses in the present scheme can be simultaneously close to fundamental solitons, which allows a substantial widening of the plateau for particular pulse parameters. Good quality, nearly transform-limited pulses are obtained in this case at the NOLM output. The device is applicable for the regeneration of ultrafast data streams in which the signal-to-noise ratio is severely deteriorated.  相似文献

The band-pass characteristic of fiber grating Michelson interferometer is analyzed, which acts as bothband-pass filter and Q-switch. An erbium-doped fiber ring laser based on fiber grating Michelsoninterferometer is implemented for producing single longitudinal mode CW operation with 5 MHz spectrallinewidth and up to 6 mW output power. In Q-switched operation, stable fiber laser output pulses withrepetition rate of 800 Hz, pulse width of 0.6 μs, average power of 1.8 mW and peak power of 3.4 W aredemonstrated. A broadband tunable, single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) Ytterbium fiber laser with unpumped Ytterbium-doped Sagnac loop is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. The unpumped Ytterbium-doped Sagnac loop is employed as a saturable absorber based auto-tracking filter to ensure single-longitudinal-mode oscillation. And a tunable band pass optical filter with large tuning range is applied to achieve broadband tuning ability. With 1-m Ytterbium-doped fiber as the gain medium, the SLM operation is achieved with over 60-nm wavelength tuning range at 160-mW pump power. The laser is very stable with output power of about 3 dBm and optical signal to noise ratio of higher than 50 dB in all the 60-nm tuning range.  相似文献

The switching characteristics of a NOLM demultiplexer are investigated by using an analytic and numerical methods. The results reveal that the switching characteristics of a NOLM demultiplexer depend on parameters such as the power coupling ratio of the coupler,the peak power of control pulses,the walk-off and the initial time delay between signal pulses and control pulses,etc. The efficiency of NOLM is dependent on the peak power of control pulses. However,the switching window profile begins to oscillate as the power exceeds a critical value and this will be detrimental to the demultiplexed signals. The signal-control pulse walk-off can broaden the switching window of NOLM,make the window profile deviate from its central position,and decrease its switching efficiency.  相似文献

A stretched-pulse fiber laser with a nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) that produces 100-fs pulses with 1-nJ energy is demonstrated. These results constitute a 30-fold increase in pulse energy over previously reported femtosecond fiber lasers with a NOLM. Compared with previous stretched-pulse lasers, this laser offers a cleaner spectrum and improved stability, with comparable pulse duration and energy. We propose and demonstrate a simple but efficient way to generate low repetition rate pulses in an erbium-doped fiber ring laser by using self-pulsing technique. About 2.25 km long single mode fiber is used to elongate in the cavity, providing large anomalous cavity dispersion in the wavelength region around 1550 nm. Self pulses at a repetition rate of 85.3 kHz with single pulse energy as high as 110 nJ are efficiently obtained on the nanosecond time scale. The experimental results demonstrate that the self-pulse fiber laser operating in the anomalous dispersion regime can also realize high-energy pulses at a very low pulse repetition rate.  相似文献
