TiO2 film of around 850 nm in thickness was deposited on a soda-lime glass by PVD sputtering and irradiated using one pulse of krypton-fluorine (KrF) excimer laser (wavelength of 248 nm and pulse duration of 25 ns) with varying fluence. The color of the irradiated area became darker with increasing laser fluence. Irradiated surfaces were characterized using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy. Surface undergoes thermal annealing at low laser fluence of 400 and 590 mJ/cm2. Microcracks at medium laser fluence of 1000 mJ/cm2 are attributed to surface melting and solidification. Hydrodynamic ablation is proposed to explain the formation of micropores and networks at higher laser fluence of 1100 and 1200 mJ/cm2. The darkening effect is explained in terms of trapping of light in the surface defects formed rather than anatase to rutile phase transformation as reported by others. Controlled darkening of TiO2 film might be used for adjustable filters.  相似文献

New experimental results are obtained by coupling both time-resolved reflectivity and rapid infrared pyrometry under a hemispherical reactor. The heating source KrF laser beam (28 ns, 248 nm) is homogenized and as for probing, a CW He-Ne laser beam (10 mW, 633 nm) is used.Using both methods infrared pyrometry with an IR detector cooled with liquid nitrogen and sensitive in the spectral range 1-12 μm, and time-resolved reflectivity with a rapid photodiode, we were able to study complex thermodynamic transitions with nanosecond time resolution. Three different materials are studied by varying the KrF fluence (energy/surface) from 100 to 2000 mJ/cm2: thin films melting (Au/Ni), the threshold of plasma formation (Ti), and complex liquid phase segregation under semi-conductor state (ZnO). The formation of a liquid Zn film induced by temperature gradient is well evidenced by our signals. Also melting of thin films irradiated by low laser fluences (less than 500 mJ/cm2) translates the typical thermodynamic behavior. Finally, wide fluence dynamic (400-2000 mJ/cm2) is analyzed in the case of Ti surface, and results show two distinguished regimes: first one bellow 1000 mJ/cm2 corresponding to the early stage plasma initiation, and second one over 1000 mJ/cm2 to the dynamics of plasma expansion.  相似文献

Laser fluence, repetition rate and pulse duration effects on paint ablation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The efficiency (mm3/(J pulse)) of laser ablation of paint was investigated with nanosecond pulsed Nd:YAG lasers (λ = 532 nm) as a function of the following laser beam parameters: pulse repetition rate (1-10,000 Hz), laser fluence (0.1-5 J/cm2) and pulse duration (5 ns and 100 ns). In our study, the best ablation efficiency (η ≅ 0.3 mm3/J) was obtained with the highest repetition rate (10 kHz) at the fluence F = 1.5 J/cm2. This ablation efficiency can be associated with heat accumulation at high repetition rate, which leads to the ablation threshold decrease. Despite the low thermal diffusivity and the low optical absorption of the paint (thermal confinement regime), the ablation threshold fluence was found to depend on the pulse duration. At high laser fluence, the ablation efficiency was lower for 5 ns pulse duration than for the one of 100 ns. This difference in efficiency is probably due to a high absorption of the laser beam by the ejected matter or the plasma at high laser intensity. Accumulation of particles at high repetition rate laser ablation and surface shielding was studied by high speed imaging.  相似文献

Surface relief gratings (SRG) and self-organized nano-structures induced by laser light at 157 nm on the fluoropolymer poly(2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate) (PTFEMA), films were obtained under well-controlled light exposure conditions. Regular and semi-regular spaced self-organized grating-like structures were created on polymeric films for ∼7.5-100 mJ/cm2 laser energy fluence. For lower laser fluence, the surface morphology of light exposed/non-exposed areas exhibited irregular-like structure morphologies, while polymer surface irradiation with energy fluence higher than 150 mJ/cm2 causes progressively fading out of the regular patterns. Under the specific experimental conditions, the SRG and self-organization patterning have their origin in the development of a surface thermal instability (Rayleigh's instability), which is resolved itself into regular patterns on the surface of the fluoropolymer film. The thermal instability is due to the explosive polymer surface photo-dissociation at 157 nm and the build up of longitudinal and periodic surface stress, which eventually create the SRG and the self-assembled structures on the polymer.  相似文献

We report the formation of directionally ordered nano-scale surface domains on the +z face of undoped congruent lithium niobate single crystals by using UV illumination through a phase mask of sub-micron periodicity with an energy fluence between ∼90 mJ/cm2 and 150 mJ/cm2 at λ = 266 nm. We clearly show here that the UV-induced surface ferroelectric domains only nucleate at and propagate along maxima of laser intensity. Although the domain line separation varies and is greater than 2 μm for this set of experimental conditions, this enables a degree of control over the all-optical poling process.  相似文献

The influence of pulse duration on the laser-induced damage in undoped or infrared-absorbing-dye doped thin triazenepolymer films on glass substrates has been investigated for single, near-infrared (800 nm) Ti:sapphire laser pulses with durations ranging from 130 fs up to 540 fs and complementarily for infrared (1064 nm) Nd:YAG ns-laser single-pulse irradiation. The triazenepolymer material has been developed for high resolution ablation with irradiation at 308 nm. Post-irradiation optical microscopy observations have been used to determine quantitatively the threshold fluence for permanent laser damage. In contrast to our previous studies on a triazenepolymer with different composition [J. Bonse, S.M. Wiggins, J. Solis, T. Lippert, Appl. Surf. Sci. 247 (2005) 440], a significant dependence of the damage threshold on the pulse duration is found in the sub-picosecond regime with values ranging from ∼500 mJ/cm2 (130 fs) up to ∼1500 mJ/cm2 (540 fs). Other parameters such as the film thickness (50 nm and 1.1 μm samples) or the doping level show no significant influence on the material behavior upon irradiation. The results for fs- and ns-laser pulse irradiation are compared and analyzed in terms of existent ablation models.  相似文献

Plasma polymerized tetrafluoroethylene (PPTFE) is shown to undergo efficient 248 nm excimer laser ablation. The principle difference between this material and the analogous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), which results in only poor quality ablation, is PPTFE's much greater absorption coefficient (7×104 vs. 102 cm–1). A plot of the ablation depth per pulse versus incident fluence indicates that the threshold for significant ablation occurs near 50 mJ/cm2, and that approximately 0.7 m/pulse can be removed at 800 mJ/cm2. Near threshold, the ablation rate curve can be fit by a single Arrhenius-type exponential. This suggests that the removal process is at least partially governed by a photothermal process, similar to well-known laser induced thermal desorption experiments. In the very low fluence regime between 10 and 30 mJ/cm2, small removal rates are measured in a process likely dominated by non-thermal ablation. The paper concludes with a discussion of the high quality, micron-size features that can be directly patterned into PPTFE surfaces.  相似文献

Ultra-short pulsed laser ablation and micromachining of n-type, 4H-SiC wafer was performed using a 1552 nm wavelength, 2 ps pulse, 5 μJ pulse energy erbium-doped fiber laser with an objective of rapid etching of diaphragms for pressure sensors. Ablation rate, studied as a function of energy fluence, reached a maximum of 20 nm per pulse at 10 mJ/cm2, which is much higher than that achievable by the femtosecond laser for the equivalent energy fluence. Ablation threshold was determined as 2 mJ/cm2. Scanning electron microscope images supported the Coulomb explosion (CE) mechanism by revealing very fine particulates, smooth surfaces and absence of thermal effects including melt layer formation. It is hypothesized that defect-activated absorption and multiphoton absorption mechanisms gave rise to a charge density in the surface layers required for CE and enabled material expulsion in the form of nanoparticles. Trenches and holes micromachined by the picosecond laser exhibited clean and smooth edges and non-thermal ablation mode for pulse repetition rates less than 250 kHz. However carbonaceous material and recast layer were noted in the machined region when the pulse repetition rate was increased 500 kHz that could be attributed to the interaction between air plasma and micro/nanoparticles. A comparison with femtosecond pulsed lasers shows the promise that picosecond lasers are more efficient and cost effective tools for creating sensor diaphragms and via holes in 4H-SiC.  相似文献

An InP wafer was irradiated in air by a series of UV pulses from a nitrogen laser with fluences of 120 mJ/cm2 and 80 mJ/cm2. These fluences are below the single-pulse ablation threshold of InP. Over the studied region the distribution of the radiation intensity was uniform. The number of pulses varied from 50 to 6000. The evolution of the surface morphology and structure was characterized by atomic force microscopy, optical microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The relationship between mound size and the number of pulses starts out following a power law, but saturates for a sufficiently high number of pulses. The crossover point is a function of fluence. A similar relation exists for the surface roughness. Raman spectroscopic investigations showed little change in local crystalline structure of the processed surface layer.  相似文献

Femtosecond laser micromilling of Si wafers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Femtosecond laser micromilling of silicon is investigated using a regeneratively amplified 775 nm Ti:Sapphire laser with a pulse duration of 150 fs operating at 1 kHz repetition rate. The morphological observation and topological analysis of craters fabricated by single-shot laser irradiation indicated that the material removal is thermal in nature and there are two distinct ablation regimes of low fluence and higher fluence with logarithmical relations between the ablation depth and the laser fluence. Crater patterns were categorized into four characteristic groups and their formation mechanisms were investigated. Femtosecond laser micromilling of pockets in silicon was performed. The effect of process parameters such as pulse energy, translation speed, and the number of passes on the material removal rate and the formation of cone-shaped microstructures were investigated. The results indicate that the microstructuring mechanism has a strong dependence on the polarization, the number of passes and laser fluence. The optimal laser fluence range for Si micromilling was found to be 2-8 J/cm2 and the milling efficiency attains its maximum between 10 and 20 J/cm2.  相似文献

The selective ablation of thin (∼100 nm) SiO2 layers from silicon wafers has been investigated by applying ultra-short laser pulses at a wavelength of 800 nm with pulse durations in the range from 50 to 2000 fs. We found a strong, monotonic decrease of the laser fluence needed for complete ablation of the dielectric layer with decreasing pulse duration. The threshold fluence for 100% ablation probability decreased from 750 mJ/cm2 at 2 ps to 480 mJ/cm2 at 50 fs. Significant corruption of the opened Si surface has been observed above ∼1200 mJ/cm2, independent of pulse duration. By a detailed analysis of the experimental series the values for melting and breaking thresholds are obtained; the physical mechanisms responsible for the significant dependence on the laser pulse duration are discussed.  相似文献

PLIE was used for rapid crystallisation of a-SiGeC films deposited by LCVD on Si(1 0 0) substrates. HRTEM study of thin films grown with several laser energies shows that the combination of the two laser techniques gives an almost completely crystallised alloy, even for the lowest laser fluence. Island formation is observed below a certain threshold of fluence (about 450 mJ/cm2). In the case of the lowest energy (100 mJ/cm2) the material was partially crystallised (with the crystalline material being the predominant state), to a nanocrystalline alloy with a considerable amount of epitaxialy grown grains and with grain sizes of several tens of nanometers. Above the threshold of 450 mJ/cm2 a rather smooth thin film is grown. The crystallisation is almost complete and the alloy is grown in an almost perfect epitaxial way.  相似文献

In this paper we investigated the surface morphology and emission property of polymer velvet in a cathode test system powered by a ∼400 ns, ∼400 kV pulsed generator. After a series of pulse shots, the velvet surface exhibited an obvious decrease in the amount of emitters, namely, the smoothing of microprotrusions, indicating a lower field enhancement factor or a higher turn-on electric field than that for no shots. As the velvet cathode lifetime proceeded, the beam degradation was observed in terms of the voltage pulse length, maximum emission current, and rise time of diode current. Further, the average current density significantly decreased during a 100 pulse shot test, from 280 to 160 A/cm2. The surface discharge caused many plasma spots on the velvet surface. The cathode plasma expands towards the anode, directly leading to the diode gap closure. The degradation in the velvet performance after high-current emission may be related to this behavior of cathode plasma. Finally, the electron emission mechanisms, how to affect the surface morphology of velvet, are presented.  相似文献

Radiation from the UV excimer lasers, with the fluence above the ablation threshold, can etch the polymer surfaces by photoablation. In some cases different microstructures may appear on the surface during the laser ablation. In this paper the effect of the laser spot size on the cone formation on polyethersulfone films has been investigated. The experiments have been performed with a XeCl laser at the wavelength of 308 nm and at the fluences of 70 and 100 mJ/cm2 at air. For the investigation of the effect of the laser spot size on cone formation, the samples were irradiated at two different laser spot sizes of w1 and w2 = 0.1 w1. The morphology of the processed surface was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It has shown that the shape, size and density of cones change with the change of the laser spot size. Also, the number of pulses and the pulse repetition rate which are needed for threshold of cone formation are affected by the laser beam spot size on the surface.  相似文献

Potassium-oxygen species were deposited on pure, Si nanoparticles coated and H-terminated Si nanoparticles coated p-Si(1 0 0) surfaces by pulsed laser ablation of potassium superoxide (KO2) target. The deposition properties, composition and the work function changes of the deposited species were investigated in situ using an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and a Kelvin probe measurement. The deposited species were assigned to K2O2 and KO2, and they can be selectively deposited by controlling the laser fluence: i.e., at 200 mJ/cm2 and at those more than 300 mJ/cm2, respectively. Experimental results showed that the work function decreased drastically with depositing of KOx (x = 1 or 2), and the minimum work function values observed were 1.0 eV and 0.7 eV for pure p-Si(1 0 0) and Si nanoparticles coated substrates, respectively. The study demonstrates the formation of the surface species with minimum work function can be identified by XPS.  相似文献

Conical nanobump arrays were generated on gold thin film processed by interfering femtosecond laser. The transition of the height and diameter as functions of fluence and pulse width was investigated. When the fluence was 87 mJ/cm2, the height and diameter were not so different at 350 fs or shorter pulse width. They decreased at longer pulse width, and no bump could be generated over 1.6 ps. The results suggest the decrease of size is due to the diffusion of electron to not-excited region, and due to heat conduction to not heated region or substrate, or change of absorbance of laser. At long pulse width of 2.4 ps and relatively higher fluence of 190 mJ/cm2, nanobump had liquid-like structure as a stop motion of a water drop.  相似文献

Lead-niobium-germanate planar waveguides have been produced by pulsed laser deposition. The composition of the waveguides is found to be relatively weakly dependent on the laser fluence, while their surface morphology is affected dramatically. Smooth surfaces are obtained for a narrow fluence range centered at 2.0 J/cm2, while particulates having typical diameters of <0.5 μm or droplets with typical diameters of <10 μm are observed at lower and higher fluences, respectively. The refractive index of the waveguides increases with fluence up to 2.1 at 2.0 J/cm2, which is close to the value of the bulk glass, and remains constant at higher fluences. Propagation losses show instead a minimum (≈6.5 dB/cm) at 2.0 J/cm2. The characteristics of the ablation process that leads to the ejection of solid particulates or molten droplets as well as the increase of the waveguides density on increasing the fluence are discussed to be responsible for the observed optical behavior.  相似文献

We use the third harmonics of Nd:YAG laser (λ = 355 nm) for simultaneous precursor conversion and dopant activation on sol-gel ITO thin films at a laser fluence range of 700-1000 mJ/cm2. A minimum resistivity of 5.37 × 10−2 Ω-cm with a corresponding carrier concentration of 6 × 1019 cm−3 is achieved at laser irradiation fluence of 900 mJ/cm2. X-ray photoelectron analysis reveals that extremely high tin concentration of 19.4 at.% and above is presented in the laser-cured ITO thin films compared with 8.7 at.% in the 500 °C thermally cured counterpart. These excess tin-ions form complex defects, which contribute no free carriers but act as scattering centers, causing inferior electrical properties of the laser-cured films in comparison with the thermally cured ones.  相似文献

Ca-doped LaMnO3 (LCMO) thin films have been successfully prepared on SrTiO3 (STO) and [(LaAlO3)0.3-(SrAlTaO6)0.7] (LSAT) substrates using the excimer laser assisted metal-organic deposition (ELAMOD) process. The crystallization and the epitaxial growth of the amorphous metal-organic LCMO thin films have been achieved using a KrF excimer laser irradiation while the substrates were kept at constant temperature of 500 °C. Epitaxial films were obtained using laser fluence in the interval of 50-120 mJ/cm2. The microstructure of the LCMO films was studied using cross-section transmission electron microscopy. High quality of LCMO films having smooth surfaces and sharp interfaces were obtained on both the STO and the LSAT substrates. The effect of the laser fluence on the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) was investigated. The largest values of TCR of the LCMO grown on the LSAT and the STO substrates of 8.3% K−1 and 7.46% K−1 were obtained at different laser fluence of 80 mJ/cm2 and 70 mJ/cm2, respectively.  相似文献

Laser-ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry has been used to probe laser-ablation products from a nitrogen-rich polymer at a wavelength of 308 nm. The ablation products at a laser fluence of 150 mJ/cm2 showed, similar to 532 nm ablation studied previously [18], two strong peaks due to neutral species that were assigned to C+ and CN+, as well as several weak peaks that were assigned to CH+, HCN+, HCNH+, HnN–CN+ (n=1–3), and H2N–C=N–CN+ or H2N–C=N–CN+. The ablation products at 870 mJ/cm2 revealed, in addition to a broad signal due to ionic products generated directly by the ablation laser, several peaks due to neutral products that were assigned to C+, C 2 + , C 3 + , CN+, HCN+, HCNH+, and NCCN+. The most probable flight velocities for major neutral products are 5.7×104 cm/s at 150 mJ/cm2 and 2.3–2.7×104 cm/s at 870 mJ/cm2. The results at a laser fluence of 150 mJ/cm2 support the finding that the translational energy of the tragments has importance for the collision-induced product generation in the laser plume, as suggested earlier [18]. Furthermore, the product generation at 870 mJ/cm2 is interpreted by the ejection of small neutral and ionic fragments, and subsequent reactions among the fragments.  相似文献
