The best Sobolev trace constant is given by the first eigenvalue of a Steklov-like problem. We deal with minimizers of the Rayleigh quotient ‖u2 H 1 (Ω) 2/‖u2 L 2 (∂Ω) for functions that vanish in a subset A⊂ Ω, which we call the hole. We look for holes that minimize the best Sobolev trace constant among subsets of Ω with prescribed volume. First, we find a formula for the first variation of the first eigenvalue with respect to the hole. As a consequence of this formula, we prove that when Ω is a ball the symmetric hole (a centered ball) is critical when we consider deformations that preserves volume but is not optimal. Finally, we prove that by the Finite Element Method we can approximate the optimal configuration and, by means of the shape derivative, we design an algorithm to compute the discrete optimal holes. In this note, the optimal L 2-error estimate of the finite volume element method (FVE) for elliptic boundary value problem is discussed. It is shown that uu h 0Ch 2|ln h|1/2f1,1 and uu h 0Ch 2f1,p , p>1, where u is the solution of the variational problem of the second order elliptic partial differential equation, u h is the solution of the FVE scheme for solving the problem, and f is the given function in the right-hand side of the equation.  相似文献

We consider the nonlinear Sturm–Liouville problem

To understand well the global behavior of the bifurcation branch in R + × L 2(I), we establish the precise asymptotic formula for λ(α), which is associated with eigenfunction u α with ‖ u α2 = α, as α → ∞. It is shown that if for some constant p > 1 the function h(u) ≔ f(u)/u p satisfies adequate assumptions, including a slow growth at ∞, then λ(α) ∼ α p−1 h(α) as α → ∞ and the second term of λ(α) as α → ∞ is determined by lim u → ∞ uh′(u). In this paper, we consider the global existence, uniqueness and L estimates of weak solutions to quasilinear parabolic equation of m-Laplacian type u t − div(|∇u| m−2u) = u|u| β−1Ω |u| α dx in Ω × (0,∞) with zero Dirichlet boundary condition in tdΩ. Let Ω be a bounded convex domain in C n , with smooth boundary of finite typem. The equation is solved in Ω with sharp estimates: iff has bounded coefficients, the coefficients of our solutionu are in the Lipschitz space Λ. Optimal estimates are also given when data have coefficients belonging toL p(Ω),p≥1. We solve the -equation by means of integral operators whose kernels are not based on the choice of a “good” support function. We show that if a sequence {uj} in W1,n/2(Ω;R n) is almost conformal in the sense that dist (∇uj,R +SO(n)) converges strongly to 0 in Ln/2 and if uj converges weakly to u in W1,n/2, then u is conformal and ∇uj → ∇u strongly in L loc q for all 1 < -q < n/2. It is known that this conclusion fails if n/2 is replaced by any smaller exponent p. We also prove the existence of a quasiconvex function f(A) that satisfies 0 ≤ f(A) ≤ C (1 + |A|n/2) and vanishes exactly onR + SO(n). The proof of these results involves the Iwaniec-Martin characterization of conformal maps, the weak continuity and biting convergence of Jacobians, and the weak-L1 estimates for Hodge decompositions.  相似文献
