A surface-wave sensor based on the resonant transmission characteristics of metal hole arrays is demonstrated in the terahertz (THz) region. Since the frequency of the transmission peak of a metal hole array, which corresponds to the resonant frequency of the surface waves, is particularly sensitive to the refractive index in the vicinity of the metal surface, a very small change in the substances attached to the surface can be detected by monitoring the transmission spectrum. By attaching a layer of substance (thickness t < 5 microm) much thinner than the wavelength of the THz wave (lambda(THz) = 1 mm at 0.3 THz) to the surface of a metal hole array, we demonstrated that the existence of such a small amount of substance can be detected more easily than without the metal hole array. This demonstration of THz sensing with metal hole arrays indicates the possibility of realizing THz surface-wave sensors for biochemical molecules in the THz region.  相似文献

A study is made of the excitation of a transition radiation pulse during the injection of a charged particle bunch through the end metal wall into a semi-infinite cylindrical waveguide. Exact analytic expressions for the fields of a thin ring-shaped bunch are obtained in terms of the Lommel functions of two variables. The energy efficiency, power, and spectrum of radiation emitted from a finite-size charged bunch in a vacuum waveguide are calculated numerically with allowance for the multimode nature of the excited field. It is shown that, under certain conditions, the bunch can generate a short, high-intensity electromagnetic pulse with a broad frequency spectrum. The effect of various parameters of the charged bunch-waveguide system (such as the bunch current, bunch duration, and waveguide radius) on the generation efficiency of a transition radiation pulse is investigated.  相似文献

采用自由空间耦合的方法,激发双面金属包覆波导中的超高阶导模,通过在双面金属包覆介质波导的两个金属膜上加不同的电压,改变导波层铌酸锂的厚度和折射率,得到不同参数下的衰减全反射谱,从而验证超高阶导模的偏振不灵敏性及对导波层厚度和折射率十分灵敏的特殊性质,实验结果与理论相吻合。比较相同条件下反射率的变化,得到铝包覆波导的灵敏度要高于金包覆波导。所得结果对集成光电子器件的研制有一定的参考价值。  相似文献

Measuring the propagation velocity of ultrasonic surface waves has been used to determine the Young's modulus of TiN films on steel. Wide-band surface-wave pulses are generated by a pulsed nitrogen laser and detected by a piezoelectric PVDF-foil transducer. A spectrum of the surface-wave phase velocity is obtained from the Fourier transformation of the surface-wave signals. The TiN films were deposited after different presputtering times with argon ions to vary the adhesion on the steel substrate. The adhesion behaviour of the films was investigated with the scratch tester. A correlation was found between the Young's modulus of the film material and the acoustic emission activity in the scratch test, which has been shown to be a suitable measure for adhesion.  相似文献

设计了一种带有金属脊和低折射率介质夹层的新型混合表面等离子体波导结构,利用有限元法对该结构进行了数值仿真。COMSOL Multiphysics软件是一款基于有限元法模拟真实物理现象的仿真软件。在COMSOL Multiphysics软件平台上,构建该结构的三维模型,使用模态分析和频域分析模块,研究了其电场分布、归一化模式面积、传输长度、增益阈值、品质因数。结果表明:在工作波长为370 nm时,所设计波导的光场约束可达到较好的深亚波长水平,同时保持大的传输长度。提出的带有金属脊结构与平坦金属层结构相比,波导特性更好。将该结构应用于纳米激光器,由基模和纵模反映出,激光器内光场分布稳定且集中在极小的面积内。在波导特性良好的情况下,该激光器可保持较低的增益阈值和较高的谐振腔品质因数。综合考虑,选取最优尺寸为=80 nm, d=45 nm,此时有效模式面积为0.005 1λ2,传输长度为1 668 nm,增益阈值为1.46×10-6 m-1, 品质因子74.5。最后,在最优尺寸下,通过仿真得到了该结构的发射光谱,其发射波长为360 nm,输出电能比输入电能增强了3 100倍。该结构为小型化和集成化的纳米设备提供了技术支持,在生物医学和光通信等领域有广泛的应用前景。  相似文献

针对浅海Pekeris环境下声矢量场的干涉特征,基于简正波理论分析了在频率-距离域上声强谱、质点振速自谱、复声强谱和波阻抗谱干涉结构的形成机理,探讨了对干涉结构的波导不变量表征,并进行了宽带辐射声场干涉结构的海上测量试验。仿真研究和海试数据分析均表明,在频率-距离域上,上述4类物理量都会呈现稳定的、可用波导不变量β表征的干涉结构,而复声强独有的纯干涉分量更能体现波导的干涉效应。最后引入多尺度线性滤波器对海试实测LOFAR图进行处理,处理结果表明该滤波器可有效地增强干涉特征,更利于检测和提取干涉图案中的条纹信息。   相似文献

The feasibility of the frequency spectrum of Vavilov-Cherenkov radiation being controlled in a wakefield dielectric-filled accelerating structure via an outer ferroelectric layer is studied. The spectrum and amplitude of the field excited in the structure versus the permittivity of the ferroelectric are found. Dielectric losses in the ferroelectric are estimated. It is shown that these losses impose limitations on the ferroelectric layer thickness and the range within which the frequency spectrum of the waveguide can be controlled. The structure under consideration is optimized for the AWA wakefield accelerator. The multilayer construction of the waveguide, in combination with specially shaped ferroelectric-permittivity-controlling electrodes, allows designers to tune the spectrum of the waveguide and suppress electron-bunch-deflecting waveguide modes. Thereby, there appears the possibility of controlling the transverse stability of the beam.  相似文献

The dispersion equations have been derived for various types of orthogonally polarized waves in a five-layer dielectric medium shielded by metal screens. The dispersion characteristics of electromagnetically coupled waves propagating in two waveguide dielectric layers, isolated from each other and from the metal screens by separating and intermediate dielectric layers, have been investigated. The fundamental limits of the spectrum of fundamental, higher-order, waveguide, and reactive types of waves are determined by the relative retardation and reduced-frequency range.  相似文献

The propagation characteristics of metal clad planar optical waveguide as a function of wavelength are investigated theoretically for Al, Ag, and Au. The results obtained show that attenuation of the propagation modes in these guides is highly dependent on wavelength, which can be used to design an efficient integrated optical waveguide polarizer with high extinction ratios, or to select the wavelength for the surface plasmon based metal clad optical waveguide sensors. It is observed that Al is the only metal that still supports the surface plasmons in the UV region.  相似文献

提出了一种新的一维金属异质波导阵列的设计方案,即波导芯区周期调制的金属波导阵列.数值模拟的结果表明,金属波导芯区的周期调制引起波导中传播的表面等离激元有效折射率的周期调制,从而可在特定的波段打开一个表面等离激元带隙(如1550nm附近).通过引入合适的缺陷波导单元,可获得特定波长的高品质因子(Q=556)的表面电磁模共振.这一结果可用于设计亚波长的布拉格反射器、光发射器、滤波器等,有可能被用于未来的集成光路.  相似文献

设计了一种高功率微波矩形波导移相器,在矩形波导中平行于电场放置金属片,沿波导宽边移动金属片,实现波导内的可变相移。通过优化设计波导和金属片的结构尺寸可实现0~360°相移,通过优化设计金属片过渡匹配结构可实现较低的插损。设计波导内为全金属结构,不存在介质材料,采用真空绝缘可以承受较高的功率传输。设计了中心频率为9.4GHz的金属片波导移相器,移相器最大插损小于0.2dB,功率容量设计达到64 MW。实验测试,移相器最大插损小于0.5dB,相频曲线呈线性关系。  相似文献

The concept of adiabatic mode transformation between silicon waveguide and surface plasmon-polariton modes in subwavelength metal-dielectric slots is investigated. The mode transformer consists of a modulated-index slot region, which is bound by two metal slabs. Using the design scheme, we will show that the optical dispersion of a modulated-index metal slot waveguide can be engineered well above the silicon light-line on a large wavelength region, allowing direct phase-matching between surface plasmon polaritons and traditional waveguide modes. Based on full-field, finite difference simulations, we demonstrate that reversible mode conversion can be achieved within submicrometer length scales.  相似文献

A device consisting of a cascaded semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and silicon on insulator (SOI) optical waveguide is presented to amplify and reshape the frequency spectrum of optical pulses in the picoseconds time duration. Numerical simulations show that the output spectrum of the amplified pulse by SOA can be effectively reshaped by utilizing the SOI waveguide. The length of the SOI waveguide may be judiciously adjusted to significantly reduce the frequency chirp of the output pulse from the SOA resulting in reshaping of the output spectrum. We find that the property of pulse spectrum is sensitive to the input pulse power and its temporal width.  相似文献

We study the spontaneous emission spectrum of a five-level M-type atom driven by a microwave field, in which two upper levels are coupled by the same-coupled cavity waveguide reservoir to a lower level. The spectrum behavior presents a strong non-Lorentzian shape that originates from effective quantum interference in Markovian reservoir, in which the spectral line can be significantly enhanced and eliminated by adjusting the proper parameters of the system. However, for non-Markovian reservoir, it seems that the shape of emission spectrum is quite dependent on the geometry behavior of a coupled cavity waveguide.  相似文献

In this paper, an optical waveguide has been developed based on the (Deoxyribonucleic acid) DNA core as a multi-slab structure by switching characteristic at 300 THz. We show that how the DNA with various electrical characteristics can be considered as a reconfigurable material which is placed between two optical metal layers. Therefore, we can control the current and voltage density values based on the divergence of the DNA types as an optical switch. Moreover, we can select the Au and Ag for the metal coat. In this research, we demonstrate that the Ag/DNA/Ag and Au/DNA/Ag have better performance in switching qualification than Au/DNA/Au model as a conventional structure. This DNA core waveguide has a switchable feature which cannot be found at any conventional plasmonic waveguide. The FDTD time domain is used for simulating the waveguide and the current density is considered as an ON/OFF switch. We carry out parametric studies for the physical dimensions of the waveguide and illustrate that how we can improve the switching characteristic. Moreover, we have checked the coupling effect between the transmission lines and defined the figure of merit for switching quality. This structure can be considered as an optical memristor and optical “YES” gate which couldn’t be obtained by other graphene waveguide while it became feasible based on DNA switching feature.  相似文献

A theoretical model of a novel planar integrated refractive index sensor based on surface plasmon-polariton (SPP) excitation with a corrugated metal long period grating (LPG) is presented and comprehensively investigated. The main principle of the operation this device is based on co-directional energy transfer by means of a corrugated metal LPG between a p-polarized guided mode propagating in a waveguide layer and the SPP propagating a metal layer separated from the waveguide layer by a buffer. The corrugated LPG is engraved in the metal layer in contact with the sensed medium. The power transmitted through the LPG in the guided mode serves as an input signal for an interrogation unit. This device is free from any moving parts and can be simply integrated into any planar waveguide system. Our sensor simulations are based on the local-normal-mode transfer matrix method and performed in telecom wavelength range.  相似文献

 理论分析了介质镀膜空芯光纤在THz频段的传输特性,得出了该光纤的特征方程及模式分布。利用射线光学原理计算了介质膜材料为聚酰亚胺、介质膜厚度为0.05 mm的光纤的衰减常数随介质膜内直径的变化情况。得出其主模在THz频段的衰减常数小于1 dB/m,该值远小于相同内径的金属圆波导在这一频段的衰减常数。模拟计算了介质膜厚度为0.05 mm、内径为1 mm,金属膜内径为1.05 mm的介质镀膜空芯光纤在0~1 THz的S参数,模拟结果显示该光纤在THz频段有很宽的通带,且在通带内衰减常数小于0.5 dB/m,可用于THz频段电磁波远距离传输。  相似文献

A novel metal-dielectric structure for efficient confinement and guiding of surface plasmon-polaritons is proposed. The proposed quasi-coplanar geometry achieves a trenchlike mode confinement over a wide range of spectrum by substituting a trench structure with two patterned metal layers, which will simplify the fabrication steps significantly. Using the finite-element method, the modal characteristics and the impact of waveguide structural parameters on them were investigated.  相似文献
