An improved two particle sizes numerical model based on a uniform size model was established to investigate the influence of the average particle size on bed-inventory overturn inside a pant-leg circulating fluidized bed (CFB). The new model successfully simulated the dynamic performance of a pant-leg CFB that as average particle size shrank, the pant-leg CFB tended to overturn, while the uniform size model showed a contradicted trend. The success was attributed to the difference of the flow pattern with different particle size. The smaller particles tend to stay the upper furnace after fluidized by the primary air flow while the larger particles tend to fall back to the bottom soon after being carried to upper furnace by the primary air flow and smaller particles. As pointed out in our previous work, the lateral mass transfer resulted in a lateral pressure difference at the upper finance and inhibited further lateral mass transfer, which was regarded as a self-balancing process. The quick fall down of the large particles somehow weaken the lateral pressure different built-up at the upper furnace. Therefore, as the average particle size shrink, the weaken effect of the large particles on self-balancing ability of the pant-leg CFB increase, resulting a more tendency for bed-inventory overturn. It was such a characteristic behavior of the large particles, which was neglected in the uniform particle size model, caused the difference between the results of the two models described above.  相似文献

Eulerian granular multiphase model with a drag coefficient correction based on the energy-minimization multi-scale (EMMS) model was used to simulate a semi-industry scale circulating fluidized bed (CFB). Three-dimensional (3D), time-dependent simulation of a full-loop CFB revealed that the axial profiles of cross-sectionally averaged solid volume fraction, and the radial profiles of solid axial velocity and solid volume fraction were in reasonable agreement with experimental data. Based on this agreement, database derived from experiments not yet accomplished was replenished with such simulations, and fluid regime diagrams and pressure balance around the CFB loop were derived accordingly. This work presents an integrated viewpoint on CFB and unfolds a fresh paradigm for CFB modeling, which can be expected to help resolve certain issues long in dispute but bard for experiments.  相似文献

Because of their advantages of high efficiency and low cost, numerical research methods for large-scale circulating fluidized bed (CFB) apparatus are gaining ever more importance. This article presents a numer- ical study of gas-solid flow dynamics using the Eulerian granular multiphase model with a drag coefficient correction based on the energy-minimization multi-scale (EMMS) model. A three-dimensional, full-loop, time-dependent simulation of the hydrodynamics of a dense CFB apparatus is performed. The process parameters (e.g., operating and initial conditions) are provided in accordance with the real experiment to enhance the accuracy of the simulation. The axial profiles of the averaged solid volume fractions and the solids flux at the outlet of the cyclone are in reasonable agreement with experimental data, thereby verifying the applicability of the mathematical and physical models. As a result, the streamline in the riser and standpipe as well as the solids distribution contours at the cross sections is analyzed. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) serves as a basis for CFB modeling to help resolve certain issues long in dispute but difficult to address experimentally. The results of this study provide the basis of a general approach to describing dynamic simulations of gas-solid flows.  相似文献

The dispersion characteristics of fuel particles in the dense phase zone in circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers have an important influence on bed temperature distribution and pollutant emissions. However, previous research in literature was mostly on small-scale apparatus, whose results could not be applied directly to large-scale CFB with multiple dispersion sources. To help solve this problem, we proposed a novel method to estimate the lateral dispersion coefficient (Dx) of fuel particles under partial coal cut-off condition in a 350 MW supercritical CFB boiler based on combustion and dispersion models. Meanwhile, we carried out experiments to obtain the Dx in the range of 0.1218–0.1406 m2/s. Numerical simulations were performed and the influence of operating conditions and furnace structure on fuel dispersion characteristics was investigated, the simulation value of Dx was validated against experimental data. Results revealed that the distribution of bed temperature caused by the fuel dispersion was mainly formed by char combustion. Because of the presence of intermediate water-cooled partition wall, the mixing and dispersion of fuel and bed material particles between the left and right sides of the furnace were hindered, increasing the non-uniformity of the bed temperature near furnace front wall.  相似文献

A model is presented for the simulation of reactive gas-solids flows in large industrial reactors. Circulating fluidized bed (CFB) combustors with several thousands of cubic meters reaction volume are probably the largest reactors of this type. A semi-empirical modeling approach has been chosen to model the three-dimensional concentration distributions of gas and solids components and temperatures inside the combustion chamber of such boilers. Two industrial CFB boilers are investigated in detail: the 105 MWe Duisburg combustor in Germany and the 235 MWe Turow combustor in Poland. The semi-empirical model approach is described first. Then the model is used to show how the three-dimensional concentration and temperature fields are formed by the interaction of several local phenomena. Good agreement between simulation and measurements has been achieved.  相似文献

While circulating fluidized bed (CFB) reactor has many advantages over the more conventional turbulent fluidized bed (TFB) reactor, it does at least have one significant shortcoming-the rather dilute solids volume concentration in CFB reactor gives rise to less ideal reaction intensity. On the other hand, while having higher reaction intensity, TFB reactor has one fatal drawback of particle back-mixing, making it not suitable for certain reactions such as catalytic reaction where the catalyst requires frequent regeneration. This paper describes some key issues in the development of a circulating turbulent fluidized bed (CTFB) reactor that combines the advantages of both TFB and CFB, that is, to have the high reaction intensity as in TFB but and also to have a suppressed solids back-mixing as in CFB due to a continuous net upflow of solids flux through the bed. Experimental results show enough evidence to suggest that a new fluidization regime is formed, the characteristics of which appears to be distinct from those observed in a regular TFB and from those in either the bottom or the upper sections of regular CFB and/or high-density CFB (HDCFB). Fundamentally, the difference is that particle-particle interaction (collision) dominates the motion of particles in CTFB and TFB, while gas-particle interaction (drag force) is the key element that determines the two phase flow in CFB including HDCFB.  相似文献

A fluid dynamic model for a gas-solid circulating fluidized bed (CFB) designed using two coupled riser reactors is developed and implemented numerically with code programmed in Matlab. The fluid dynamic model contains heat and species mass balances to calculate temperatures and compositions for a carbonation/calcination loop process. Because of the high computational costs required to resolve the three-dimensional phenomena, a model representing a trade-offbetween computational time requirements and accuracy is developed. For dynamic processes with a solid flux between the two reactor units that depends on the fluid dynamics of both risers, a dynamic one-dimensional two-fluid model is sufficient. A two-fluid model using the constant particle viscosity closure for the stress term is used for the solid phase, and an algebraic turbulence model is applied to the gas phase. The numerical model implementa- tion is based on the finite volume method with a staggered grid scheme. The exchange of solids between the reactor units constituting the circulating fluidized bed (solid flux) is implemented through additional mass source/sink terms in the continuity equations of the two phases, For model validation, a relevant experimental analysis provided in the literature is reproduced by the numerical simulations, The numerical analysis indicates that sufficient heat integration between the two reactor units is important for the performance of the circulating fluidized bed system, The two-fluid model performs fairly well for this chemical process operated in a CFB designed as two coupled riser reactors. Further analysis and optimization of the solution algorithms and the reactor coupling strategy is warranted.  相似文献

A pressure balance model for a circulating fluidized bed unit that incorporates a downer has been proposed. The model predictions were validated with the experimental data obtained from a special cold-model circulating fluidized bed. Comparison of the operation stability between a CFB downer and a CFB riser has been carried out. Only one critical gas velocity exists in the CFB-riser for a given riser solids flux, while there can be many critical gas velocities for the operation of a CFB downer. Therefore, it is possible to achieve high solids concentration in a CFB downer if appropriate operating conditions are used.  相似文献

Supercritical water (SCW) fluidized bed is a new reactor concept for hydrogen production from biomass or coal gasification. In this paper, a comparative study on flow structure and bubble dynamics in a supercritical water fluidized bed and a gas fluidized bed was carried out using the discrete element method (DEM). The results show that supercritical water condition reduces the incipient fluidization velocity, changes regime transitions, i.e. a homogeneous fluidization was observed when the superficial velocity is in the range of the minimum fluidization velocity and minimum bubbling velocity even the solids behave as Geldart B powders in the gas fluidized bed. Bubbling fluidization in the supercritical water fluidized bed was formed after superficial velocity exceeds the minimum bubbling velocity, as in the gas fluidized bed. Bubble is one of the most important features in fluidized bed, which is also the emphasis in this paper. Bubble growth was effectively suppressed in the supercritical water fluidized bed, which resulted in a more uniform flow structure. By analyzing a large number of bubbles, bubble dynamic characteristics such as diameter distribution, frequency, rising path and so on, were obtained. It is found that bubble dynamic characteristics in the supercritical water fluidized bed differ a lot from that in the gas fluidized bed, and there is a better fluidization quality induced by the bubble dynamics in the supercritical water fluidized bed.  相似文献

The diffusion and chemical reactions inside the catalyst particles and the heterogeneous flow structure in the computational cells are key factors to affect the accuracy of the coarse-grid simulation in circulating fluidized bed (CFB) methanation reactors. In this work, a particle-scale model is developed to calculate the effective reaction rate considering the transient diffusion and chemical reactions in the particle scale, i.e., the scale of the single catalyst particle. A modified sub-grid drag model is proposed to consider the effects of the meso-scale and chemical reactions on the heterogeneous gas-solid interaction, where the meso-scale is between the single particle and the whole reactor and featured with the particle cluster. Subsequently, a coupled model is developed by integrating the particle-scale and modified sub-grid drag models into CFD. Moreover, the coupled model is validated to achieve accurate predictions on the CO methanation process in a CFB riser. Notably, the coupled model can be performed with a coarse grid (∼58 times particle diameter) and a large time step (0.005 s) to accelerate the simulation. By simply changing the reaction kinetics, different gas-solid catalytic reaction systems can be simulated by using the coupled model.  相似文献

Bed-to-surface heat transfer in a circulating fluidized bed   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The heat transfer characteristics between a circulating fluidized bed and a surface immersed inside it are investigated. This paper presents a statistical model describing the mechanism of heat transfer and the relationship between the heat transfer coefficient and the main parameters of the bed. The proposed model yields a satisfactory representation of heat transfer process in the circulating fluidized bed (CFB), it is consistent with experimental results and other researchers results. Aluminum coatings were created onto glass beads by chemical vapor deposition in a fluidized bed reactor at different temperatures. Nitrogen was enriched with Triisobutylaluminum (TIBA) vapor and the latter was thermally decomposed inside the fluidized bed to deposit the elemental aluminum. To ensure homogeneous coating on the bed material, the fluidizing conditions necessary to avoid agglomeration were investigated for a broad range of temperatures. The deposition reaction was modeled on the basis of a discrete particle simulation to gain insight into homogeneity and thickness of the coating throughout the bed material. In particular, the take-up of aluminum was traced for selected particles that exhibited a large mass of deposited aluminum.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is the development of new models and/or the improvement of existing numerical models, used for simulating granular flow in CFB (circulating fluidized bed) recirculation systems. Most recent models follow the TFM (two-fluid model) methodology, but they cannot effectively simulate the inter-particle friction forces in the recirculation system, because the respective stress tensor does not incorporate compressibility of flow due to change of effective particle density. As a consequence, the induced normal and shear stresses are not modeled appropriately during the flow of the granular phase in the CFB recirculation system. The failure of conventional models, such as that of von Mises/Coulomb, is mainly caused by false approximation of the yield criterion which is not applicable to the CFB recirculation system. The present work adopts an alternative yield function, used for the first time in TFM Eulerian modeling. The proposed model is based on the Pitman–Schaeffer–Gray–Stiles yield criterion. Both the temporal deformation of the solid granular phase and the repose angle that the granular phase forms are more accurately simulated by this model. The numerical results of the proposed model agree well with experimental data, implying that frictional forces are efficiently simulated by the new model.  相似文献

The constantly developing fiuidized combustion technology has become competitive with a conventional pulverized coal (PC) combustion. Circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers can be a good alternative to PC boilers due to their robustness and lower sensitivity to the fuel quality. However, appropriate engineering tools that can be used to model and optimize the construction and operating parameters of a CFB boiler still require development. This paper presents the application of a relatively novel hybrid Euler-Lagrange approach to model the dense gas-solid flow combined with a combustion process in a large-scale indus- trial CFB boiler. In this work, this complex flow has been resolved by applying the ANSYS FLUENT 14.0 commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code. To accurately resolve the multiphase flow, the original CFD code has been extended by additional user-defined functions. These functions were used to control the boiler mass load, particle recirculation process (simplified boiler geometry), and interphase hydrodynamic properties. This work was split into two parts. In the first part, which is referred to as pseudo combustion, the combustion process was not directly simulated. Instead, the effect of the chemi- cal reactions was simulated by modifying the density of the continuous phase so that it corresponded to the mean temperature and composition of the flue gases, In this stage, the particle transport was simu- lated using the standard Euler-Euler and novel hybrid Euler-Lagrange approaches, The obtained results were compared against measured data, and both models were compared to each other. In the second part, the numerical model was enhanced by including the chemistry and physics of combustion. To the best of the authors' knowledge, the use of the hybrid Euler-Lagrange approach to model combustion is a new engineering application of this model, In this work, the combustion process was modeled for air-fuel combustion. The simulation results were compared with experimental data.  相似文献

In this article, a standard 2D Two-Fluid Model (TFM) closed by the kinetic theory of granular flow (KTGF) has been applied to simulate the behavior of tapered-in and tapered-out fluidized bed reactors. In this regard, two types of chemical reactions with gas volume reduction and increase were considered to investigate the effects of initial static bed height on the fractional conversion and bed pressure drop. To validate the CFD model predictions, the results of hydrodynamic simulations concerning bed pressure drop and bed expansion ratio were compared against experimental data reported in the literature and excellent agreement was observed. The obtained simulation results clearly indicate that there is an appropriate static bed height in a tapered-in reactor in which the fractional conversion becomes maximum at this height; whereas variations of static bed height in a tapered-out reactor have insignificant influences on the fractional conversion. Moreover, it was found that the residence time, temperature, and intensity of turbulence of the gas phase are three important factors affecting the fractional conversion in tapered fluidized bed reactors. In addition, it was observed that increasing the static bed height increases the bed pressure drop for both the tapered-in and tapered-out fluidized bed reactors.  相似文献
