The atmospheric reaction NH2+O3→H2NO+O2 has been investigated theoretically by using MP2, QCISD, QCISD(T), CCSD(T), CASSCF, and CASPT2 methods with various basis sets. At the MP2 level of theory, the hypersurface of the potential energy (HPES) shows a two step reaction mechanism. Therefore, the mechanism proceeds along two transition states (TS1 and TS2), separated by an intermediate designated as Int. However, when the single‐reference higher correlated QCISD and the multiconfigurational CASSCF methodologies have been employed, the minimum structure Int and TS2 are not found on the HPES, which thus confirms a direct reaction mechanism. Single‐reference high correlated and multiconfigurational methods consistently predict the barrier height of the reaction to be within the range of 3.9 to 6.6 kcal mol?1, which is somewhat higher than the experimental value. 1 The calculated reaction enthalpy is ?67.7 kcal mol?1.  相似文献

The atmospheric reaction (1) OH + O3→HO2 + O2 was investigated theoretically by using MP2, QCISD, QCISD(T), and CCSD(T) methods with various basis sets. At the highest level of theory, namely, QCISD, the reaction is direct, with only one transition state between reactants and products. However, at the MP2 level, the reaction proceeds through a two‐step mechanism and shows two transition states, TS1 and TS2 , separated by an intermediate, Int . The different methodologies employed in this paper consistently predict the barrier height of reaction (1) to be within the range 2.16–5.11 kcal mol?1, somewhat higher than the experimental value of 2.0 kcal mol?1.  相似文献

In the study of the reaction pathways of the ClO + NO2 reaction including reliable structures of the reactants, products, intermediates, and transition states as well as energies the MP2/6-311G(d), B3LYP/6-311G(d), and G2(MP2) methods have been employed. Chlorine nitrate, ClONO2, is formed by N-O association without an entrance barrier and is stabilized by 29.8 kcal mol(-1). It can undergo either a direct 1,3 migration of Cl or OCl rotation to yield an indistinguishable isomer. The corresponding barriers are 45.8 and 7.1 kcal mol(-1), respectively. ClONO2 can further decompose into NO3 + Cl with an endothermicity of 46.4 kcal mol(-1). The overall endothermicity of the NO2 + ClO --> NO3 + Cl reaction is calculated to be 16.6 kcal mol(-1). The formation of cis-perp and trans-perp conformer of chlorine preoxynitrite, ClOONO(cp) and ClOONO(tp), are exothermic by 5.4 and 3.8 kcal mol(-1), respectively. Calculations on the possible reaction pathways for the isomerization of ClOONO to ClONO2 showed that the activation barriers are too high to account for appreciable nitrate formation from peroxynitrite isomerization. All quoted relative energies are related to G2(MP2) calculations.  相似文献

The potential energy surface, including the geometries and frequencies of the stationary points, of the reaction HFCO + OH is calculated using the MP2 method with 6-31+G(d,p) basis set, which shows that the direct hydrogen abstraction route is the most dominating channel with respect to addition and substitution channels. For the hydrogen abstraction reaction, the single-point energies are refined at the QCISD(T) method with 6-311++G(2df,2pd) basis set. The calculated standard reaction enthalpy and barrier height are -17.1 and 4.9 kcal mol(-1), respectively, at the QCISD(T)/6-311++G(2df,2pd)//MP2/6-31+G(d,p) level of theory. The reaction rate constants within 250-2500 K are calculated by the improved canonical variational transition state theory (ICVT) with small-curvature tunneling (SCT) correction at the QCISD(T)/6-311++G(2df,2pd)//MP2/6-31+G(d,p) level of theory. The fitted three-parameter formula is k = 2.875 x 10(-13) (T/1000)1.85 exp(-325.0/T) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1). The results indicate that the calculated ICVT/SCT rate constant is in agreement with the experimental data, and the tunneling effect in the lower temperature range plays an important role in computing the reaction rate constants.  相似文献

The reaction for CH3CH2+O(3P) was studied by ab initio method. The geometries of the reactants, intermediates, transition states and products were optimized at MP2/6-311+G(d,p) level. The corresponding vibration frequencies were calculated at the same level. The single-point calculations for all the stationary points were carried out at the QCISD(T)/6-311+G(d,p) level using the MP2/6-311+G(d,p) optimized geometries. The results of the theoretical study indicate that the major products are the CH2O+CH3, CH3CHO+H and CH2CH2+OH in the reaction. For the products CH2O+CH3 and CH3CHO+H, the major production channels are A1: (R)→IM1→TS3→(A) and B1: (R)→IM1→TS4→(B), respectively. The majority of the products CH2CH2+OH are formed via the direct abstraction channels C1 and C2: (R)→TS1(TS2)→(C). In addition, the results suggest that the barrier heights to form the CO reaction channels are very high, so the CO is not a major product in the reaction.  相似文献

The potential energy surface for the CH(2)O + ClO reaction was calculated at the QCISD(T)/6-311G(2d,2p)//B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) level of theory. The rate constants for the lower barrier reaction channels producing HOCl + HCO, H atom, OCH(2)OCl, cis-HC(O)OCl and trans-HC(O)OCl have been calculated by TST and multichannel RRKM theory. Over the temperature range of 200-2000 K, the overall rate constants were k(200-2000K) = 1.19 x 10(-13)T(0.79) exp(-3000.00/T). At 250 K, the calculated overall rate constant was 5.80 x 10(-17) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1), which was in good agreement with the experimental upper limit data. The calculated results demonstrated that the formation of HOCl + HCO was the dominant reaction channel and was exothermic by 9.7 kcal/mol with a barrier of 5.0 kcal/mol. When it retrograded to the reactants CH(2)O + ClO, an energy barrier of 14.7 kcal/mol is required. Furthermore, when HOCl decomposed into H + ClO, the energy required was 93.3 kcal/mol. These results suggest that the decomposition in both the forward and backward directions for HOCl would be difficult in the ground electronic state.  相似文献

The reaction for SiH3+O(3P) was studied by ab initio method. The geometries of the reactants, intermediates, transition states and products were optimized at MP2/6-311+G(d,p) level. The single point calculations for all the stationary points were carried out at the QCISD(T) /6-311+G(d,p) level using the MP2/6-311+G(d,p) optimized geometries. The results of the theoretical study indicate that the major pathway is the SiH3+O(3P)→IM1→TS3→IM2→TS8→HOSi+H2. The other minor products include the HSiOH+H, H2SiO+H and HSiO+H2. Furthermore, the products HOSi, HSiO and HSiOH(cis) can undergo dissociation into the product SiO. In addition, the calculations provide a possible interpretation for disagreement about the mechanism of the reaction SiH4+O(3P). It suggests that the products HSiOH, H2SiO and SiO observed by Withnall and Andrews are produced from the secondary reaction SiH3+O(3P) and not from the reaction SiH4+O(3P).

The potential energy surface (PES) for the HOBr.H(2)O complex has been investigated using second- and fourth-order M?ller-Plesset perturbation theory (MP2, MP4) and coupled cluster theory with single and doubles excitations (CCSD), and a perturbative approximation of triple excitations (CCSD-T), correlated ab initio levels of theory employing basis sets of triple zeta quality with polarization and diffuse functions up to the 6-311++G(3dp,3df ) standard Pople's basis set. Six stationary points being three minima, two first-order transition state (TS) structures and one second-order TS were located on the PES. The global minimum syn and the anti equilibrium structure are virtually degenerated [DeltaE(ele-nuc) approximately 0.3 kcal mol(-1), CCSD-T/6-311++G(3df,3pd) value], with the third minima being approximately 4 kcal mol(-1) away. IRC analysis was performed to confirm the correct connectivity of the two first-order TS structures. The CCSD-T/6-311++G(3df,3pd)//MP2/6-311G(d,p) barrier for the syn<-->anti interconversion is 0.3 kcal mol(-1), indicating that a mixture of the syn and anti forms of the HOBr.H(2)O complex is likely to exist.  相似文献

The activation barrier for the CH4 + H → CH3 + H2 reaction was evaluated with traditional ab initio and Density Functional Theory (DFT) methods. None of the applied ab initio and DFT methods was able to reproduce the experimental activation barrier of 11.0-12.0 kcal/mol. All ab initio methods (HF, MP2, MP3, MP4, QCISD, QCISD(T), G1, G2, and G2MP2) overestimated the activation energy. The best results were obtained with the G2 and G2MP2 ab initio computational approaches. The zero-point corrected energy was 14.4 kcal mol−1. Some of the exchange DFT methods (HFB) computed energies which were similar to the highly accurate ab initio methods, while the B3LYP hybrid DFT methods underestimated the activation barrier by 3 kcal mol−1. Gradient-corrected DFT methods underestimated the barrier even more. The gradient-corrected DFT method that incorporated the PW91 correlational functional even generated a negative reaction barrier. The suitability of some computational methods for accurately predicting the potential energy surface for this hydrogen radical abstraction reaction was discussed.  相似文献

We present a direct ab initio and hybrid density functional theory dynamics study of the thermal rate constants of the unimolecular decomposition reaction of C2H5O-->CH2O + CH3 at a high-pressure limit. MPW1K/6-31+G(d,p), MP2/6-31+G(d,p), and MP2(full)/6-31G(d) methods were employed to optimize the geometries of all stationary points and to calculate the minimum energy path (MEP). The energies of all the stationary points were refined at a series of multicoefficient and multilevel methods. Among all methods, the QCISD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ energies are in good agreement with the available experimental data. The rate constants were evaluated based on the energetics from the QCISD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ//MPW1K/6-31+G(d,p) level of theory using both microcanonical variational transition state theory (microVT) and RRKM theory with the Eckart tunneling correction in the temperature range of 300-2500 K. The calculated rate constants at the QCISD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ/MPW1K/6-31+G(d,p) level of theory are in good consistent with experimental data. The fitted three-parameter Arrhenius expression from the microVT/Eckart rate constants in the temperature range 200-2500 K is k = 2.52 x 10(12)T(0.41)e(-8894.0/T) s(-1). The falloff curves of pressure-dependent rate constants are performed using master-equation method within the temperature range of 391-471 K. The calculated results are in good agreement with the available experimental data.  相似文献

The CH3S* + O2 reaction system is considered an important process in atmospheric chemistry and in combustion as a pathway for the exothermic conversion of methane-thiyl radical, CH3S*. Several density functional and ab initio computational methods are used in this study to determine thermochemical parameters, reaction paths, and kinetic barriers in the CH3S* + O2 reaction system. The data are also used to evaluate feasibility of the DFT methods for higher molecular weight oxy-sulfur hydrocarbons, where sulfur presents added complexity from its many valence states. The methods include: B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p), B3LYP/6-311++G(3df,2p), CCSD(T)/6-311G(d,p)//MP2/6-31G(d,p), B3P86/6-311G(2d,2p)//B3P86/6-31G(d), B3PW91/6-311++G(3df,2p), G3MP2, and CBS-QB3. The well depth for the CH3S* + 3O2 reaction to the syn-CH3SOO* adduct is found to be 9.7 kcal/mol. Low barrier exit channels from the syn-CH3SOO* adduct include: CH2S + HO2, (TS6, E(a) is 12.5 kcal/mol), CH3 + SO2 via CH3SO2 (TS2', E(a) is 17.8) and CH3SO + O (TS17, E(a) is 24.7) where the activation energy is relative to the syn-CH3SOO* stabilized adduct. The transition state (TS5) for formation of the CH3SOO adduct from CH3S* + O2 and the reverse dissociation of CH3SOO to CH3S* + O2 is relatively tight compared to typical association and simple bond dissociation reactions; this is a result of the very weak interaction. Reverse reaction is the dominant dissociation path due to enthalpy and entropy considerations. The rate constants from the chemical activation reaction and from the stabilized adduct to these products are estimated as functions of temperature and pressure. Our forward rate constant and CH3S loss profile are in agreement with the experiments under similar conditions. Of the methods above, the G3MP2 and CBS-QB3 composite methods are recommended for thermochemical determinations on these carbon-sulfur-oxygen systems, when they are feasible.  相似文献

The structures, energetics, spectroscopies, and stabilities of the doublet NC(2)O radical are explored at density functional theory and ab initio levels. Nine minimum isomers are located connected by 22 interconversion transition states. At the CCSD(T)/6-311+G(2df)//QCISD/6-311G(d)+ZPVE level, the lowest-lying isomer is bent NCCO 1 (0.0 kcal/mol) with (2)A' state followed by bent isomer CNCO 2 (16.7). Two isomers (1 and 2) and another high-lying species CCNO 4 (99.4) with bent structure are considerably stabilized by a barrier of at least 20 kcal/mol. All of the three isomers should be experimentally or astrophysically observable. This result is consistent with their indication of neutralization-reionization mass spectrometry experiments. Also, the calculated spectroscopic properties and bond distances of known NCCO 1 are consistent with recent experimental observations and theoretical studies. The bonding natures of the isomers 1, 2, and 4 are analyzed. Their molecular properties including the heats of formation, adiabatic ionization potentials, and adiabatic electronic affinities are calculated at the higher levels G3//B3LYP, G3(MP2)//B3LYP, QCISD, and CCSD(T) (single-point). Possible formation strategies of the isomers 1, 2, and 4 in laboratory and space are also discussed in detail.  相似文献

The reaction of NO(3) radical with C(2)H(4) was characterized using the B3LYP, MP2, B97-1, CCSD(T), and CBS-QB3 methods in combination with various basis sets, followed by statistical kinetic analyses and direct dynamics trajectory calculations to predict product distributions and thermal rate constants. The results show that the first step of the reaction is electrophilic addition of an O atom from NO(3) to an olefinic C atom from C(2)H(4) to form an open-chain adduct. A concerted addition reaction mechanism forming a five-membered ring intermediate was investigated, but is not supported by the highly accurate CCSD(T) level of theory. Master-equation calculations for tropospheric conditions predict that the collisionally stabilized NO(3)-C(2)H(4) free-radical adduct constitutes 80-90% of the reaction yield and the remaining products consist mostly of NO(2) and oxirane; the other products are produced in very minor yields. By empirically reducing the barrier height for the initial addition step by 1 kcal mol(-1) from that predicted at the CBS-QB3 level of theory and treating the torsional modes explicitly as one-dimensional hindered internal rotations (instead of harmonic oscillators), the computed thermal rate constants (including quantum tunneling) can be brought into very good agreement with the experimental data for the overall reaction rate constant.  相似文献

Summary Many organic C-nitroso compounds R-NO form stable dimers with a covalent NN bond. To gain insight into the dimerization reaction 2 R-NO (R-NO)2 a theoretical study of the dimerization to atrans-form was performed using HNO as a model compound. Complete geometry optimizations were carried out at the HF, MP2 and QCISD levels using a 6–31G* basis. In the stationary points energies were calculated at the MP4(SDTQ) and QCISD(T) levels. For the equilibrium structure of the monomer and dimers stable RHF solutions were found, whereas for the TS UHF and UMPn calculations were applied. Extensive spin contamination was found in the UHF wavefunction, and projections up tos+4 were invoked. Relative energies were corrected for differences in ZPE. Calculations were made (a) for the least-motion path (C 2h symmetry) and (b) for a path with complete relaxation of all internal coordinates. Along the latter path a TS having virtuallyC i symmetry was found. Along path (a) an activation energy of around 150 kcal/mol was predicted, in conformity with a symmetry forbidden reaction. On the relaxed path (b) the barrier to dimerization was estimated to be 10.7 kcal/mol at the MP4(SDTQ)//MP2 level, and 10.9 kcal/mol at the QCISD(T)//QCISD level. Unscaled ZPE corrections, calculated at the SCF level, changed these values to 12.7 and 12.9 kcal/mol, respectively. The reaction energy for the dimerization process is predicted to be – 17.2 kcal/mol at the MP4(SDTQ)//MP2 level corrected for ZPE. Calculations at the G1 level gave a corresponding value of – 16.4 kcal/mol. The equilibrium constant for the association to thetrans dimer is estimated to beK p =259 atm, indicating that the dimer should be an observable species in the gas phase.  相似文献

The reaction between triplet methylene and nitric oxide, producing the formaldiminoxy (CH2NO) radical, and the subsequent decomposition and isomerization reactions of CH2NO have been studied using ab␣initio quantum chemical techniques that include the Gaussian-2 (G2), CASSCF and CASPT2 methods. Stationary points on the potential energy surfaces were located at MP2/6-31G(d) and CASSCF/cc-pVDZ levels of theory, while the electronic energies were determined using G2, G2(MP2), QCISD(T)/cc-pVTZ, RCCSD(T)/cc-pVTZ and CASPT2/cc-pVTZ approaches. G2 is believed to be reliable at equilibrium geometries, but the determination of certain transition state geometries and energies requires a MCSCF-based approach. The calculations suggest that CH2NO (2A) forms in a barrierless reaction and could readily decompose to H+HCNO. A subsequent abstraction reaction then results in H2+CNO. No molecular elimination channel was found. An alternative pathway is the formation of CH2ON, which readily isomerizes to CH2NO. Ab initio calculations establish that CH3O+=CHCH3 (1) rearranges in gas phase isolation to CH2=O+C2H5 (2) directly rather than through CH3OCH2CH 2 + (3). The reaction is predicted to be antarafacial, in accord with the Woodward-Hoffmann (W-H) predictions. We predict an activation energy of 212.0 kJ/mol for this process at the QCISD(T)/6-311G**//MP2/6-311G** level. We also reinvestigated the degenerate rearrangement of CH3O=CH 2 + by a 1,3-sigmatropic shift. The W-H model is not a good one for the transition state (TS) for the latter reaction because the π bonding has been completely broken off. That TS is stabilized by three-center bonding between the carbons and the hydrogen being transferred. We also examined the questions of the importance of polarization functions on hydrogen and a set of outer valence functions on all the atoms in describing these hydrogen transfer TSs, and whether it is necessary to include these functions in the TS optimization runs. For the rearrangements we studied, polarization functions on hydrogen are crucial only for 1,2 hydrogen shifts. The 6-31G* basis set is adequate and good for the optimization of TSs of other ring sizes. For the 1,3 and 1,4 shifts we examined, a combination of both outer valence functions and polarization functions on hydrogen causes reductions in the computed activation energies ranging from 5.9 kJ/mol for the 1,4 shift at the RHF level to 15.6 kJ/mol for the 1,3 shift at the MP2 level.  相似文献

The important stationary points on the potential energy surface of the reaction CH(3)O(2) + NO have been investigated using ab initio and density functional theory techniques. The optimizations were carried out at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) and MP2/6-311++G(d,p) levels of theory while the energetics have been refined using the G2MP2, G3//B3LYP, and CCSD(T) methodologies. The calculations allow the proper characterization of the transition state barriers that determine the fate of the nascent association conformeric minima of methyl peroxynitrite. The main products, CH(3)O + NO(2), are formed through either rearrangement of the trans-conformer to methyl nitrate and its subsequent dissociation or via the breaking of the peroxy bond of the cis-conformer to CH(3)O + NO(2) radical pair. The important consequences of the proposed mechanism are (a) the allowance on energetic grounds for nitrate formation parallel to radical propagation under favorable external conditions and (b) the confirmation of the conformational preference of the homolytic cleavage of the peroxy bond, discussed in previous literature.
