The dependence of the (Rotor Assisted Population Transfer) RAPT enhancement on offset frequency for nuclei experiencing different quadrupolar couplings has been exploited to design two new spectral editing schemes, pi/2-RAPT and RAPT-pi-RAPT, for the selective excitation or suppression, respectively, of nuclei with large quadrupolar couplings. Both approaches are demonstrated on the 87 Rb spectrum of Rb(2)SO(4), which contains two resonances with C(q) values of 2.6 and 5.3 MHz. The conditions for optimal selectivity are discussed. Combining pi/2-RAPT with the RIACT MQ-MAS experiment it is also demonstrated how a pure absorption mode triple quantum MQ-MAS spectrum devoid of narrow resonances can be obtained.  相似文献

The photoproduction of omega mesons on nuclei has been investigated using the Crystal Barrel/TAPS experiment at the ELSA tagged photon facility in Bonn. The aim is to study possible in-medium modifications of the omega meson via the reaction gamma + A --> omega + X --> pi(0)gamma + X('). Results obtained for Nb are compared to a reference measurement on a LH2 target. While for recoiling, long-lived mesons (pi(0), eta, and eta;(')), which decay outside of the nucleus, a difference in the line shape for the two data samples is not observed, we find a significant enhancement towards lower masses for omega mesons produced on the Nb target. For momenta less than 500 MeV/c an in-medium omega meson mass of M(medium) = [722(+4)(-4)(stat)+35-5(syst)] MeV/c(2) has been deduced at an estimated average nuclear density of 0.6rho(0).  相似文献

Considerable improvement of a transient two-beam coupling gain is reported for Sn(2)P(2)S(6), a photorefractive crystal that possesses two types of movable charge carrier. A gain enhancement occurs if the phase difference of the interacting beams is abruptly changed to pi. Enhancement is also achieved with periodic phase variations of zero and pi between two discrete states at modulation frequencies lower than the smallest of two reciprocal characteristic times of the space-charge formation.  相似文献

The decay channel J/psi --> gamma(pi)(+)pi(-)eta is analyzed using a sample of 5.8 x 10(7) J/psi events collected with the BESII detector. A resonance, the Chi(1835), is observed in the pi(+)pi(-)eta invariant-mass spectrum with a statistical significance of 7.7 sigma. A fit with a Breit-Wigner function yields a mass M = 1833.7 +/- 6.1(stat) +/- 2.7(syst) MeV/c(2), a width Tau = 67.7 +/- 20.3(stat) +/- 7.7(syst) MeV/c(2), and a product branching fraction B(J/psi --> gammaChi) . B(Chi --> pi(+)pi(-)eta) = [2.2 +/- 0.4(stat) +/- 0.4(syst)] x 10(-4). The mass and width of the Chi(1835) are not compatible with any known meson resonance. Its properties are consistent with expectations for the state that produces the strong pp mass threshold enhancement observed in the J/psi --> gammapp process at BESII.  相似文献

We report the first observation of a near-threshold enhancement in the D(0)D[over](0)pi(0) system from B-->D(0)D[over](0)pi(0)Kappa decays using a 414 fb(-1) data sample collected at the Upsilon(4S) resonance. The enhancement peaks at a mass M=3875.2+/-0.7(+0.3)/(-1.6) +/-0.8 MeV/c2 and the branching fraction for events in the peak is B(B-->D(0)D[over](0)pi(0)Kappa)=(1.22+/-0.31(+0.23)/(-0.30))x10(-4). The data were collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e+ e- collider.  相似文献

Deeply bound 1s states of pi(-) in (115,119,123)Sn were preferentially observed using the Sn(d,3He) pion-transfer reaction under the recoil-free condition. The 1s binding energies and widths were precisely determined and were used to deduce the isovector parameter of the s-wave pion-nucleus potential to be b1=-(0.115+/-0.007)m(-1)(pi). The observed enhancement of |b(1)| over the free piN value (b(free)1/b1=0.78+/-0.05) indicates a reduction of the chiral order parameter, f*pi(rho)2/f2pi approximately 0.64, at the normal nuclear density, rho=rho(0).  相似文献

The purpose of this communication is to describe a method for rapid and simultaneous determination of longitudinal (T1) and transversel (T2) relaxation times, based on a single continuous wave free precession (CWFP) experiment which employs RF pulses with a pi/2 flip angle. We analyze several examples, involving nuclei such as 1H, 31P, and 19F, where good agreement with T1 and T2 measurements obtained by traditional methods is apparent. We also compare with the more time-consuming steady-state free precession (SSFP) method of Kronenbitter and Schwenk where several experiments are needed to determine the optimum flip angle. The role of an inhomogeneous magnetic field on the observed decays and its effect upon the accuracy of relaxation times obtained by these methods is examined by comparing numerical simulations with experimental data. Possible sources of error and conditions to minimize its effects are described.  相似文献

The cross section for e(+)e(-)-->pi(+)pi(-)J/psi between 3.8 and 5.5 GeV/c(2) is measured using a 548 fb(-1) data sample collected on or near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. A peak near 4.25 GeV/c(2), corresponding to the so called Y(4260), is observed. In addition, there is another cluster of events at around 4.05 GeV/c(2). A fit using two interfering Breit-Wigner shapes describes the data better than one that uses only the Y(4260), especially for the lower-mass side of the 4.25 GeV enhancement.  相似文献

A new frontier of discrete-line gamma-ray spectroscopy at ultrahigh spin has been opened in the rare-earth nuclei (157,158) Er. Four rotational structures, displaying high moments of inertia, have been identified, which extend up to spin approximately 65 variant Planck's over 2pi and bypass the band-terminating states in these nuclei which occur at approximately 45 variant Planck's over 2pi. Cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations suggest that these structures arise from well-deformed triaxial configurations that lie in a valley of favored shell energy which also includes the triaxial strongly deformed bands in (161-167) Lu.  相似文献

Unambiguous values of the spin and magnetic moment of 31Mg are obtained by combining the results of a hyperfine-structure measurement and a beta-NMR measurement, both performed with an optically polarized ion beam. With a measured nuclear g factor and spin I=1/2, the magnetic moment mu(31Mg)=-0.88355(15)mu(N) is deduced. A revised level scheme of 31Mg (Z=12, N=19) with ground state spin/parity I(pi)=1/2(+) is presented, revealing the coexistence of 1p-1h and 2p-2h intruder states below 500 keV. Advanced shell-model calculations and the Nilsson model suggest that the I(pi)=1/2(+) ground state is a strongly prolate deformed intruder state. This result plays a key role for the understanding of nuclear structure changes due to the disappearance of the N=20 shell gap in neutron-rich nuclei.  相似文献

Rotor-assisted population transfer (RAPT) was developed as a method for enhancing MAS NMR sensitivity of quadrupolar nuclei by transferring polarization associated with satellite transitions to the central m=12-->-12 transition. After a single RAPT transfer, there still remains polarization in the satellite transitions that can be transferred to the central transition. This polarization is available without having to wait for the spin system to return to thermal equilibrium. We describe a new RAPT scheme that uses the remaining polarization of the satellites to obtain a further enhancement of the central transition by performing RAPT-enhanced experiments multiple times before waiting for re-equilibration of the spin system. For 27Al (I=5/2) in albite we obtain a multiple RAPT enhancement of 3.02, a 48% increase over single RAPT. For 93Nb (I=9/2) in NaNbO(3) we obtain a multiple RAPT enhancement of 5.76, an 89% increase over single RAPT. We also describe a data processing procedure for obtaining the maximum possible signal-to-noise ratio.  相似文献

Gan and Kwak recently proposed a soft-pulse added mixing (SPAM) idea in the classical two-pulse multiple-quantum magic-angle spinning scheme. In the SPAM method, a soft pi/2 pulse is added after the second hard-pulse (conversion pulse) and all coherence orders in between them are constructively used to obtain the signal. We, here, further extend this idea to distributed samples where the signal mainly results from echo pathways and that from anti-echo pathways dies out after a few t1 increments. We show that, with a combination of SPAM and collection of fewer anti-echoes, an enhancement of the signal to noise ratio by a factor of ca. 3 may be obtained over the z-filtered version. This may prove to be useful even for samples with long T2' relaxation times.  相似文献

A general theory of field dependent spin-lattice relaxation for nuclei of the spin quantum number 1/2 (1H, 19F, 13C) caused by dipole-dipole interactions with neighboring quadrupolar nuclei (nuclei possessing a quadrupolar moment) is presented. The theory is valid for arbitrary motional conditions and should be treated as a quadrupolar counterpart of the paramagnetic relaxation enhancement theory. When the energy level splitting of the dipolar spin (I=1/2) matches one of the transition frequencies of the quadrupolar nuclei one can observe a local enhancement of the dipolar spin relaxation (referred to as "quadrupolar peaks"). To see such effects the dynamics modulating the spin interactions has to be relatively slow. This brings the system beyond the validity range of perturbation approaches and requires the stochastic Liouville equation to be applied. The presented theory describes the quadrupolar relaxation enhancement (QRE) for an arbitrary spin quantum number of the quadrupolar nuclei and includes the asymmetry of the quadrupolar coupling. It has been applied to interpret the shape of magnetization curves (amplitude of 1H magnetization versus magnetic field) for the molecular crystal [C3N2H5]6[Bi4Br18] ([C3N2H5]-imidazolium). The magnetization curves show several dips (local minima) attributed to 1H-14N quadrupolar relaxation enhancement effects. In addition, as a limiting case a perturbation approach to QRE has been presented and its validity conditions have been discussed.  相似文献

Differential cross sections of the reactions (gamma,pi(0)pi(0)) and (gamma,pi(0)pi(+/-)) have been measured for several nuclei (1H,12C, and (nat)Pb) at an incident-photon energy of E(gamma)=400-460 MeV at the tagged-photon facility at MAMI-B using the TAPS spectrometer. A significant nuclear-mass dependence of the pipi invariant-mass distribution is found in the pi(0)pi(0) channel. This dependence is not observed in the pi(0)pi(+/-) channel and is consistent with an in-medium modification of the pipi interaction in the I=J=0 channel. The data are compared to pi-induced measurements and to calculations within a chiral-unitary approach.  相似文献

A new approach involving the creation of triple-quantum (TQ) coherences from both TQ and central transitions (CT) is investigated, in order to enhance the efficiency of triple-quantum excitation for I=3/2 nuclei. The RIACT excitation scheme, a soft pi/2 and hard spin-locking pulse, is shown to induce both adiabatic coherence transfer between CT and TQ coherences and TQ nutation. By combining the RIACT scheme with the presaturation of the satellite transitions, a significant improvement in the TQ excitation can be achieved mainly through enhanced CT polarization via the RIACT mechanism, in particular for nuclei with moderate to large quadrupole coupling constants (> or = 2.0 MHz). There also exists a nontrivial contribution from the TQ transition, which depends on the size of the quadrupole interaction.  相似文献

The interaction in the scalar isoscalar channel is studied as a function of the baryonic density in the framework of a chiral unitary approach which successfully reproduces vacuum - phase shifts. We present some results on the -meson pole, which is generated dynamically in our model, in nuclear matter. Finally, we analyze the ( ) reaction on nucleons and nuclei in the kinematical region where the scalar isoscalar scattering amplitude is influenced by the low mass of the in nuclei, and thus, presents a large enhancement close to the position of its pole. 远离核素图上“稳定谷”的丰中子核一直是核物理学研究的热点。作为形变丰中子核的一种特殊的亚稳定激发态,高K同核异能态的形状大多数为长椭球,扁椭球的高K同核异能态非常少见。近期的一项实验认为丰中子核94Se上的$ {K}^{\mathrm{\pi }}={7}^{-} $两准粒子态为扁椭球。这是形变原子核上存在扁椭球高K同核异能态的第一个实验证据。结合相关实验,我们猜测可能有其它尚未发现的扁椭球高K同核异能态存在于丰中子A~100质量区。利用组态限制势能面计算方法,本文对丰中子A~100质量区内的$ {K}^{\mathrm{\pi }}={9}^{-} $$ {K}^{\mathrm{\pi }}={7}^{-} $两准粒子态进行了研究,并预言了此质量区内扁椭球高K同核异能态的可能位置。根据Nilsson模型,扁椭球高K同核异能态的存在与费米能级附近的高Ω单粒子轨道有关。这些高Ω单粒子轨道来源于高j闯入态在扁椭球形变时的退简并。扁椭球高K同核异能态是研究丰中子核形变参数、激发能等物理性质的理想对象,有助于加深我们对于形变原子核能级结构的理解。  相似文献

We have measured the differential cross section for the gamman-->pi(-)p and gammap-->pi(+)n reactions at theta(c.m.)=90 degrees in the photon energy range from 1.1 to 5.5 GeV at Jefferson Lab (JLab). The data at E(gamma) greater, similar 3.3 GeV exhibit a global scaling behavior for both pi(-) and pi(+) photoproduction, consistent with the constituent counting rule and the existing pi(+) photoproduction data. Possible oscillations around the scaling value are suggested by these new data. The data show enhancement in the scaled cross section at a center-of-mass energy near 2.2 GeV. The cross section ratio of exclusive pi(-) to pi(+) photoproduction at high energy is consistent with the prediction based on one-hard-gluon-exchange diagrams.  相似文献
