In 1937 Marcinkiewicz and Zygmund obtained an estimate of the norm inL q [0,1] of the sum of the series ∑ n=1 c n ϕ n (x) under the condition that {M n } is monotone increasing. The quasi-stationary distributions of Markov chains have been investigated by many papers and are known to have considerable practical importance in, e.g., biological, chemical and applied probability models. However, computation of the quasi-stationary distributions is often nontrivial, which has limited its use in practice despite the usefulness of its own, except for some simple cases. This paper develops some bounds, which are relatively easy to calculate, for the quasi-stationary distribution of some specialized Markov chains.  相似文献

In this paper we present the Wong–Zakai approximation results for a class of nonlinear SPDEs with locally monotone coefficients and driven by multiplicative Wiener noise. This model extends the classical monotone one and includes examples like stochastic 2d Navier–Stokes equations, stochastic porous medium equations, stochastic p-Laplace equations and stochastic reaction–diffusion equations. As a corollary, our approximation results also describe the support of the distribution of solutions.  相似文献

We define and investigate a uniformly locally o-minimal structure of the second kind in this paper. All uniformly locally o-minimal structures of the second kind have local monotonicity, which is a local version of monotonicity theorem of o-minimal structures. We also demonstrate a local definable cell decomposition theorem for definably complete uniformly locally o-minimal structures of the second kind. We define dimension of a definable set and investigate its basic properties when the given structure is a locally o-minimal structure which admits local definable cell decomposition.  相似文献

This paper deals with the existence of travelling wave fronts of delayed reaction diffusion systems with partial quasi-monotonicity. We propose a concept of "desirable pair of upper-lower solutions", through which a subset can be constructed. We then apply the Schauder's fixed point theorem to some appropriate operator in this subset to obtain the existence of the travelling wave fronts.  相似文献

In his 1958 thesis Stability and Error Bounds, Germund Dahlquist introduced the logarithmic norm in order to derive error bounds in initial value problems, using differential inequalities that distinguished between forward and reverse time integration. Originally defined for matrices, the logarithmic norm can be extended to bounded linear operators, but the extensions to nonlinear maps and unbounded operators have required a functional analytic redefinition of the concept.This compact survey is intended as an elementary, but broad and largely self-contained, introduction to the versatile and powerful modern theory. Its wealth of applications range from the stability theory of IVPs and BVPs, to the solvability of algebraic, nonlinear, operator, and functional equations. Nonlinear BSDEs were first introduced by Pardoux and Peng, 1990, Adapted solutions of backward stochastic differential equations, Systems and Control Letters, 14, 51–61, who proved the existence and uniqueness of a solution under suitable assumptions on the coefficient. Fully coupled forward–backward stochastic differential equations and their connection with PDE have been studied intensively by Pardoux and Tang, 1999, Forward–backward stochastic differential equations and quasilinear parabolic PDE's, Probability Theory and Related Fields, 114, 123–150; Antonelli and Hamadène, 2006, Existence of the solutions of backward–forward SDE's with continuous monotone coefficients, Statistics and Probability Letters, 76, 1559–1569; Hamadème, 1998, Backward–forward SDE's and stochastic differential games, Stochastic Processes and their Applications, 77, 1–15; Delarue, 2002, On the existence and uniqueness of solutions to FBSDEs in a non-degenerate case, Stochastic Processes and Their Applications, 99, 209–286, amongst others.

Unfortunately, most existence or uniqueness results on solutions of forward–backward stochastic differential equations need regularity assumptions. The coefficients are required to be at least continuous which is somehow too strong in some applications. To the best of our knowledge, our work is the first to prove existence of a solution of a forward–backward stochastic differential equation with discontinuous coefficients and degenerate diffusion coefficient where, moreover, the terminal condition is not necessary bounded.

The aim of this work is to find a solution of a certain class of forward–backward stochastic differential equations on an arbitrary finite time interval. To do so, we assume some appropriate monotonicity condition on the generator and drift coefficients of the equation.

The present paper is motivated by the attempt to remove the classical condition on continuity of coefficients, without any assumption as to the non-degeneracy of the diffusion coefficient in the forward equation.

The main idea behind this work is the approximating lemma for increasing coefficients and the comparison theorem. Our approach is inspired by recent work of Boufoussi and Ouknine, 2003, On a SDE driven by a fractional brownian motion and with monotone drift, Electronic Communications in Probability, 8, 122–134; combined with that of Antonelli and Hamadène, 2006, Existence of the solutions of backward–forward SDE's with continuous monotone coefficients, Statistics and Probability Letters, 76, 1559–1569. Pursuing this idea, we adopt a one-dimensional framework for the forward and backward equations and we assume a monotonicity property both for the drift and for the generator coefficient.

In this paper the authors study a fractional quadratic integral equation of Urysohn-Volterra type. They show that the integral equation has at least one monotonic solution in the Banach space of all real functions defined and continuous on the interval $[0,1]$. The main tools in the proof are a fixed point theorem due to Darbo and a monotonicity measure of noncompactness.  相似文献

Objective: To obtain axiomatic characterizations of the core of one-to-one and one-to-many matching markets. Methods: The axioms recently applied to characterize the core of assignment games were adapted to the models of this paper. Results: The core of one-to-one matching markets is characterized by two different lists of axioms. The first one consists of weak unanimity, population monotonicity, and Maskin monotonicity. The second consists of weak unanimity, population monotonicity, and consistency. If we allow for weak preferences, the core is characterized by weak unanimity, population monotonicity, Maskin monotonicity, and consistency. For one-to-many matchings, the same lists as for the case of strict preferences characterize the core. Conclusions: The cores of the discrete matching markets are characterized by axioms that almost overlap with the axioms characterizing the core of the continuous matching markets. This provides an axiomatic explanation for the observations in the literature that almost parallel properties are obtained for the core of the two models.
