The loss of ellipticity indicated through the rank-one-convexity condition is elaborated for the spatial and material motion problem of continuum mechanics. While the spatial motion problem is characterized through the classical equilibrium equations parametrised in terms of the deformation gradient, the material motion problem is driven by the inverse deformation gradient. As such, it deals with material forces of configurational mechanics that are energetically conjugated to variations of material placements at fixed spatial points. The duality between the two problems is highlighted in terms of balance laws, linearizations including the consistent tangent operators, and the acoustic tensors. Issues of rank-one-convexity are discussed in both settings. In particular, it is demonstrated that if the rank-one-convexity condition is violated, the loss of well-posedness of the governing equations occurs simultaneously in the spatial and in the material motion context. Thus, the material motion problem, i.e. the configurational force balance, does not lead to additional requirements to ensure ellipticity. This duality of the spatial and the material motion approach is illustrated for the hyperelastic case in general and exemplified analytically and numerically for a hyperelastic material of Neo-Hookean type. Special emphasis is dedicated to the geometrical representation of the ellipticity condition in both settings.  相似文献

现存文献关于功能梯度材料断裂问题的研究大都假设材料性质为坐标的指数函数或幂函数,而对其它函数形式较少采用。本文假设功能梯度材料剪切模量为坐标的双曲函数,而泊松比为常量,研究功能梯度板条的混合型裂纹问题。利用Fourier积分变换技术将混合边值问题转化为一对奇异积分方程,通过数值求解奇异积分方程获得含裂纹功能梯度板条分别在剪切和法向载荷作用下的I型和Ⅱ型应力强度因子,并讨论了材料的非均匀性和裂纹相对尺寸对裂纹尖端应力强度因子的影响。  相似文献

利用积分变换的方法讨论了在一个刚性压头作用下十二次对称二维准晶的无摩擦接触问题. 通过引入位移势函数,将数量巨大而复杂的偏微分方程转化为两个独立的双调和方程,应用Fourier分析与对偶积分方程理论解决了十二次对称二维准晶材料的无摩擦接触问题,得到了相应的接触应力解析表达式,结果表明:如果接触位移是一常数,则接触应力在接触区域边缘具有-1/2阶奇异性;反之,如果接触应力在接触区域边缘具有-1/2阶的奇异性,则接触位移一定为一常数,这为准晶材料的接触变形提供了重要的力学参数.  相似文献

A general framework encompassing both the (conventional) deformational and configurational settings of continuum mechanics is presented. A systematic application of balance principles over a migrating control volume in the undeformed configuration of the continuum body yields the system of governing equations in the bulk, on the surface and on a coherent interface within the continuum. The equations governing the response of the bulk agree with those of the conventional deformational approach. The localised balance equations are expressed in the configurational setting using a pull-back operator and reformulated in terms of the Eshelby stress. The configurational expression of the dissipation elucidates the energy loss associated with configurational changes. The general framework is introduced by considering the problem of coupled deformation, heat conduction and species diffusion within a geometrically non-linear continuum body intersected by a coherent interface. The nature of the coupling is emphasised throughout the presentation and via an example.  相似文献

A computational scheme for the determination of the interface in a strain-induced phase-transition problem for an elastic bar is proposed. The algorithm is based on the material force notion and more specifically on the simultaneous solution of equilibrium equations for the physical and material forces. The weak form of both equations is derived with the aid of a variational principle that accounts for the variations of the dependent and the independent variables. The whole scheme concludes in a nonlinear algebraic system which is numerically solved by the Newton method. The numerical results thus derived seem to be quite encouraging for further application of the concept of material forces in computations related to phase transition problems. The austenite–martensite transformation could be a possible application of the proposed model.  相似文献

The problem of inhomogeneous material with internal friction subjected to complex loading is solved in this paper. Different complex loadings are considered by continuously rotating the principal axes of the strain tensor. A hypoplastic model with internal variables is used to describe the internal structure of the material. The model can describe loading and unloading states. It accounts for essential non-linearity of constitutive equations. The finite element algorithm reduces the problem to a system of nonlinear algebraic equations of high order which are solved by the Newton's method. The results show a good qualitative and quantitative assessment of calculated parameters when compared with data obtained from experiments. Redistribution of internal mass takes place under loading such that a fractal structure is developed in time reflecting the material discontinuities.  相似文献

A mathematical model of crack nucleation in a perforated heat-releasing material attenuated by a biperiodic system of cooling cylindrical channels with a circular cross section is constructed. Solving the problem of equilibrium of an isotropic perforated heat-releasing material with temperature-dependent properties containing nucleating cracks is reduced to solving systems of algebraic and nonlinear singular integral equations with a Cauchy-type kernel. The forces in crack nucleation regions are found by using the solution of these equations. The condition of crack emergence is formulated with allowance for the criterion of ultimate stretching of bonds in the material.  相似文献

A plane strain problem for two piezoelectric half-spaces adhered by a very thin isotropic interlayer with a crack under the action of remote mixed mode mechanical loading and electrical flux is considered. The crack is situated either at an interface or in the interlayer. It is assumed that the substrates are much stiffer than the intermediate layer. Therefore, pre-fracture zones (plastic or damage) arise at the crack continuations. Normal and shear stresses are assumed to be constant in this zones and to satisfy some material equation, which can be taken from theory or derived experimentally. Modeling the pre-fracture zones by the crack continuations with unknown cohesive stresses on their faces reduces the problem to elastic interface crack analysis leading to a Hilbert problem. This problem is solved exactly. The pre-fracture zone lengths and stresses in these zones are found from algebraical and transcendental equations. The latter are derived from the conditions of stress finiteness at the ends of pre-fracture zones and the material equations. The electrical displacement at any point of the pre-fracture zones is found in closed form as well. Particular cases of symmetrical loading and of equivalent properties of the upper and lower bimaterial components are considered. Numerical results corresponding to certain material combinations and interlayer material equations are presented and analysed. In the suggested model, any singularities connected with the crack are eliminated, i.e., all mechanical and electrical characteristics are limited in the near-crack tip region.  相似文献

The linearized equations governing the deformations of incompressible elastic bodies are discussed. The Dirichlet problem is formulated for this system of equations using the theory of elliptic systems due to Douglis and Nirenberg. A uniqueness theorem is proved. Necessary and sufficient conditions for uniqueness of solution to the Dirichlet problem are obtained for small deformations of a Mooney-Rivlin material which has been subjected to a finite homogeneous biaxial deformation.  相似文献

The equations describing a layered packet with transverse shears and compression taken into account in all layers are constructed in this paper. The layer material is assumed to be elastic and transversely isotropic. The generalized Timoshenko kinematic hypotheses are used to take into account the transverse shears and compression. The equations in generalized forces, moments, and displacements are obtained, and the equations for characteristic functions in terms of which all variables describing the stress-strain state in the layered packet can be expressed are derived. The plane elastostatic problem for two bonded half planes containing an arbitrarily oriented crack in the neighborhood of the interface is considered. Using Mellin Transforms the problem is formulated as a system of singular integral equations. The equations are solved for various crack orientations, material combinations, and external loads. The numerical results given in the paper include the stress intensity factors, the strain energy release rates, and the probable cleavage angles giving the direction of crack propagation.  相似文献

The flow of an elastico-viscous liquid contained between two infinite discs, when one is held at rest and the other performs small-amplitude torsional oscillations about their common axis, is considered. The liquid is characterized by equations of state more general than, and containing as special cases, the equations of state used by previous authors who have considered this problem.The phenomenon of flow reversal is examined for large values of the Reynolds number, and the apparently different conclusions of previous authors are explained in terms of their particular choices of material parameters.It is also shown that in general the flow at high frequency is dominated by a particular combination of material parameters.  相似文献

The problem of a Griffith crack of constant length propagating at a uniform speed in a plane non-homogeneous medium under uniform load is investigated. The equilibrium equations for the non-homogeneous medium are solved by using the Fourier transforms and then the problem is reduced to the solution of dual integral equations. Solving the dual integral equations we obtain the expression for the dynamic stress intensity factor at the edge of the crack. Finally the numerical results for the stress intensity factor are obtained which are displayed graphically to show the effect of the material non-homogeneity on the stress intensity factor.  相似文献
