Generalized immediate exchange models and their symmetries

We reconsider the discrete dual of the immediate exchange model and define a more general class of models where mass is split, exchanged and merged. We relate the splitting process to the symmetric inclusion process via thermalization and from that obtain symmetries and self-duality for it and its generalization. We show that analogous properties hold for models where the splitting is related to the symmetric exclusion process or to independent random walkers.

Heteropoly acid catalyzed synthesis of 8-methyl-2-aryl/alkyl-3-oxabicyclo[3.3.1]non-7-ene derivatives through (3,5)-oxonium-ene reaction

A variety of aldehydes undergo a smooth coupling with (4-methylcyclohex-3-en-1-yl)methanol in the presence of 2 mol % of phosphomolybdic acid in dichloromethane to afford 3-oxabicyclo[3.3.1]non-7-ene in good yields through 3,5-oxonium-ene cyclization under mild conditions. The use of inexpensive, nontoxic, and readily available heteropoly acid catalyst makes this method simple, convenient, and environmental-friendly.

Four new isoflavonoids from the stem bark of Erythrina variegata

Bioassay-directed fractionation of the stem bark extract of Erythrina variegata L. has resulted in the isolation of three new isoflavones: 5,4'-dihydroxy-8-(3,3-dimethylallyl)-2'-methoxyisopropylfurano[4,5:6,7]isoflavone (1), 5,7,4'-trihydroxy-6-(3,3-dimethylallyloxiranylmethyl)isoflavone (2), 5,4'-dihydroxy-8-(3,3-dimethylallyl)-2'-hydroxymethyl-2'-methylpyrano[5,6:6,7]isoflavone (3) and a new isoflavanone, 5,4'-dihydroxy-2'-methoxy-8-(3,3-dimethylallyl)-2',2'-dimethylpyrano[5,6:6,7]isoflavanone (4) together with seven known compounds, euchrenone b10 (5), isoerysenegalensein E (6), wighteone (7), laburnetin (8), lupiwighteone (9), erythrodiol (10), and oleanolic acid (11). The structures were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analyses and chemical evidence. The effect of these compounds on the proliferation of rat osteogenic sarcoma (UMR106) is also reported.     

Energy levels and transition probabilities in 130Sn

The excited states of ¹³⁰Sn have been studied in the decay of three different isomers of ¹³⁰In. The experimentally determined energy levels and transition probabilities are compared with comprehensive shell-model calculations using the full neutron single-hole configuration space. Additional theoretical and experimental data regarding ¹²⁸Sn are also presented.     

Higher order level mixing resonances on oriented nuclei

Higher order level mixing resonance have been measured on the 40 s half-life ^109mAg in Zn. It is shown that the line-width is tunable with the misalignment angle of the electric to magnetic axes, and enables precise quadruple coupling determinations. For ${}^{\mathrm{<mtext>109</mtext><mtext>m</mtext>}}\text{Ag}\text{Zn}\text{eQV}{}_{\mathrm{zz}}\text{/μ = 3.08(2)}$ T has established.     

Transverse momentum distribution of the Z produced at the Large Hadron Collider and related phenomena

From the recent theoretical result on the production of the Higgs boson at the Large Hadron Collider, it follows that other particles will also be produced with small transverse momentum, of the order of 1 GeV/c$1\text{GeV}/c$. The leptonic decay mode of the Z is especially suited for a first observation of this phenomenon. Other related effects, such as paired jets, are also discussed.     

The level structure of 90Mo

High-spin states of the N = 48 nucleus ⁹⁰Mo have been studied using the 33 MeV ⁹⁰Zr(³He, 3nγ) reaction. A previously unknown level structure above the 8⁺ isomer and several new lower-lying levels have been identified. The results are discussed in terms of shell-model calculations which allow four protons in the $\text{2}\text{p}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>1</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}\text{and}\text{1}\text{g}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>9</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}$ subshells and two neutron holes in the $\text{1}\text{f}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>5</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}\text{, 2}\text{p}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>3</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}\text{, 2}\text{p}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>1</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}\text{,}\text{or}\text{1}\text{g}{}_{\mathrm{<mtext>9</mtext><mtext>2</mtext>}}$ orbitals.
