Estimation of Probability Densities of the Absolute Value and Argument of Complex Random Variables

We particularize criteria proposed by one of the authors for estimating the probability densities of a random vector of size N to the case of even N. For the presentation convenience in this case, two-dimensional vectors are treated as complex random variables and the probability densities of their absolute values and arguments are estimated. The estimation algorithms are synthesized on the basis of the obtained criteria under conditions of both presence and absence of complete a priori information on the sample statistic. Effect of doping on the absorption spectra of p-Ge

Absorption spectra recorded at 295 and 94 ° K for p-Ge samples of various concentrations are reported. There is some discrepancy between these results and those reported previously. The absorption is calculated from the approximate Kahn theoretical equations, and the results are compared with experiment. Preparation of N-phenyl-substituted quinolinium derivatives labeled with tritium by chemonuclear synthesis

A chemonuclear method of synthesis is proposed for obtaining difficultly available phenyl-substituted derivatives of quinoline labeled with tritium. The ion-molecule reaction of free phenyl cations, generated on β-decay of tritium, with the nucleophilic centers of heterocyclic compounds is the basis of the synthesis. The onium derivatives synthesized possess significant inhibitory antimicrobial activity and are promising for a detailed study of the reaction mechanisms and metabolic processes using radioactive indicators.     

Inclusive γ and π0 production inK − p interactions at 32 GeV/c

The inclusive production of γ's and π^p0's inK ^? p-interactions at 32 GeV/c is studied. About 30.000 γ's coming from a Mirabelle bubble chamber experiment with a sensitivity of 6.5 ev/μb have been used for the analysis. Inclusive and topological cross sections of γ's are measured. The γ invariant differential distributions and their scaling properties are investigated. The inclusive cross section of π^p0-production is determined and the π^p0 invariant differential distributions are evaluated and compared to those of π^p±.     

Knockout of deuterons and tritons with large transverse momenta in <Emphasis Type="Italic">pA</Emphasis> collisions involving 50-GeV protons

Formation of the d and t cumulative light nuclear fragments emitted from the nucleus with large transverse momenta at an angle of 35° in the laboratory frame is investigated. The data on collisions of 50-GeV protons with the C, Al, Cu, and W nuclei are collected using the extracted proton beam of the IHEP accelerator and the SPIN detector. The results indicate that the dominant contribution to formation of nuclear fragments comes from the local process of direct knockout from the nucleus.     

Inclusive production of neutral strange particles in\bar pp interactions at 70 GeV/c

The inclusive production ofK _s ⁰ , Λ and \(\bar \Lambda \) particles is investigated in 70 GeV/c \(\bar pp\) interactions in an experiment performed at CERN using BEBC equipped with a TST. Differential cross-sections are studied and compared with corresponding data at surrounding energies. Differences withpp data obtained at the same energy allow an estimate of theK _s ⁰ , production cross-section in annihilation processes. Evidence is also given for central \(\Lambda \bar \Lambda \) production.
