Modification of the kolsky method for studying properties of low‐density materials under high‐velocity cyclic strain

A modification of the Kolsky method with the use of the split Hopkinson bar is proposed, which allows testing lowdensity materials under cyclic loads of an identical sign. Cyclic dynamic testing of specimens is based on the essential difference of acoustic impedances of the material of the specimen tested from the material of pressure bars. The choice of the supportbar length several times greater than the loadingbar length allows registration of strain pulses in several cycles. Results are presented for the proposed modification of the Kolsky method used for tests in compression of foam plastic of two densities under three loading cycles.     

Measurement of the Dynamic Characteristics of Soft Soils Using the Kolsky Method

A modified Kolsky method for dynamic tests of soft soils in an elastic holder is analyzed. It is shown the axial and radial stresses in the sample are uniform. The rational geometry of the holder is determined. Friction is found to have an effect on the dynamic strain diagram obtained. It is suggested that this effect can be reduced by lubricating the inner surface of the holder.     

Production of Pure Hydrogen Peroxide Solutions in Water Activated by the Plasma of Electrodeless Microwave Discharge and Their Application to Control Plant Growth

A method for the production of pure solutions of hydrogen peroxide during water activation by the plasma of electrodeless microwave discharge has been developed. It is shown that activated water has a pronounced effect on agricultural plants, being a non-toxic and chemically pure regulator of biological activity. In particular, the treatment of seeds of agricultural plants with activated water solutions can improve their drought resistance.
