Calculation of a supersonic gas jet exhausting into vacuum from a nozzle with an inclined exit

A study is made of the problem of supersonic exhausting of ideal gas into vacuum from a conical nozzle with inclined exit. EPR study of ordered Al<Subscript>2</Subscript>O<Subscript>3</Subscript>-based aerogel

Samples of oriented aerogel based on aluminum oxide are studied by the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique under steady-state and pulse conditions. At least two types of paramagnetic centers interacting with Al nuclei on the surface of aerogel are revealed. Their spectra are characterized by the presence or absence of superhyperfine structure in the EPR spectra, respectively. The X-ray irradiation at room temperature gives rise to the formation of additional long-lived paramagnetic centers of the second kind. Their characteristic decay times for the “fast” and “slow” processes are determined. The interaction of induced paramagnetic centers with protons located on the surface of aerogel is revealed.     

Laminar flow between the surfaces of two eccentric circular cylinders

The problem of laminar fluid flow in an asymmetric annular gap has been solved in earlier work in an approximation with error difficult to gauge. In the present paper, the problem is solved exactly. The velocity distribution of the flow is obtained, the mean velocity is determined, and an exact expression is found for the coefficient which determines the flow rate. An approximate expression proposed for this coefficient holds asymptotically at small eccentricities. Properties of Hill’s estimator of extreme value index for impure samples

The consistency and asymptotic normality of the Hill estimator of the extreme value index is considered for a sample from a sequence of independent and identically distributed random variables with asymptotically increasing additive impurity. In addition, the cases when the statistical construction of the estimator is possible are analyzed.
