In vitro anti‐proliferative and in silico docking studies of heteroleptic copper(II) complexes of pyridazine‐based ligands and ciprofloxacin

Three heteroleptic copper(II) complexes of the type [Cu(L^1–3)(cf)(ClO₄)] ( 1 – 3 ), where cf = ciprofloxacin, have been synthesized using pyridazine‐based ligands 3‐chloro‐6‐(salicylidenehydrazinyl)pyridazine (HL¹), 3‐chloro‐6‐(4‐diethylaminosalicylidenehydrazinyl)pyridazine (HL²) and 3‐chloro‐6‐(5‐bromosalicylidenehydrazinyl)pyridazine (HL³). Electronic spectral data and magnetic moment values suggest octahedral geometry for the synthesized copper(II) complexes. Electrochemical data of the copper(II) complexes present an irreversible one‐electron reduction wave in the cathodic potential region (E_pc) between ?0.631 and ?0.670 V. Frontier molecular orbital calculations were carried out, and the obtained low‐energy gap supports the bio‐efficacy of the complexes. All the complexes were screened for their in vitro cytotoxicity activity against three human cancerous (breast adenocarcinoma (MCF‐7), hepatoma (HepG‐2) and cervical (HeLa)) and one non‐cancerous (non‐tumorigenic human dermal fibroblast (NHDF)) cell lines using MTT assay, in which complex 2 exhibited higher activity. The apoptosis induction by the complexes was analysed using the Hoechst dye staining method with MCF‐7 cell line, which indicates higher apoptotic activity of complex 2 . A molecular docking study was carried out to ascertain the binding affinity of the synthesized heteroleptic copper(II) complexes with phosphoinositide 3‐kinase gamma (PI3Kγ) receptor.     

Going Off the Grid: Iterative Model Selection for Biclustered Matrix Completion

We consider the problem of performing matrix completion with side information on row-by-row and column-by-column similarities. We build upon recent proposals for matrix estimation with smoothness constraints with respect to row and column graphs. We present a novel iterative procedure for directly minimizing an information criterion to select an appropriate amount of row and column smoothing, namely, to perform model selection. We also discuss how to exploit the special structure of the problem to scale up the estimation and model selection procedure via the Hutchinson estimator, combined with a stochastic Quasi-Newton approach. Substituted Tetraaza‐ and Hexaazahexacenes and their N,N′‐Dihydro Derivatives: Syntheses,Properties, and Structures

The palladium‐catalyzed coupling of a substituted o‐diaminoanthracene and a substituted o‐diaminophenazine to substituted 2,3‐dichloroquinoxalines furnishes 10 differently substituted N,N′‐dihydrotetraaza‐ or ‐hexaazahexacenes with the quinoxaline group of the azaacenes carrying fluorine, chlorine, or nitro groups. The N,N′‐dihydrotetraazahexacenes with hydrogen, chlorine, and fluorine subtituents are oxidized to azaacenes, whereas only the parent N,N′‐dihydrohexaazahexacenes, with hydrogen substituents, are oxidized by MnO₂. The resultant azaacenes are characterized by their optical and spectroscopic data. In addition, single‐crystal X‐ray structures have been obtained for the parent tetraazahexacenes and their difluoro‐substituted derivatives. The di‐ and tetrachloro derivatives of the N,N′‐dihydrohexaazahexacene have also been structurally characterized.     

Selective hydroxylation of diamantane with 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluoroperbenzoic acid in the presence of molibdenum complexes

Oxidation of diamantane with 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluoroperbenzoic acid catalyzed with complexes MoO(O₂)·2QOH, MoO(O₂)(H₂O)₂ proceeds selectively affording diamantan-1-ol and diamantan-1-yl 2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorobenzoate.
