An intermittent process occurring in a low-temperature plasma discharge has been investigated. During a continuous scan of the discharge voltage, one kind of intermittency evolves from random upward bursts to a periodic oscillation, while the other evolves to chaos from random downward bursts. Homoclinic chaos in the alternating periodic-chaotic sequences is observed in a nonlinear circuit with sinusoidal driving force. In particular, a complete Alternating Periodic-Chaotic sequence is recorded with a high-resolution up to P(8) state. The experimental results, analyzed by constructing the time of flight and the next maximal amplitude return maps, are in good agreement with the scenario described by Shilnikov. The underlying dynamics of homoclinic chaos is determined from the next amplitude return map, to be that of a unimodal map and thus a strong dissipation case. 相似文献

We present a theoretical analysis for fully developed convective beat transfer in a circular tube for power law fluids by assuming that the thermal diffusivity is a function of temperature gradient. The analytical eolution is obtained and the heat transfer behaviour is investigated under a constant heat flux boundary condition. It is shown that the Nusselt number strongly depends on the value of power law index n. The Nusselt number sharply decreases in the range of 0 〈 n 〈 0.1. However, for n 〉 0.5, the Nusselt number decreases monotonically with the increasing n, and for n 〉 20, the values of Nusselt number approach a constant. 相似文献
